This study used the AUDI’s technology application with repair rations, aimed at increasing the productivity of Arab’s hens in the 2 nd phase. The repair ration is focused on the addition of calcium minerals. AUDI technology is a combination of water filtering technology with extract beluntas (Pluchea indica L.). The research used seventy two Arab’s hen with homogenous body weight. The study used a completely randomized design with 3 treatments, 6 replications, each replication consisting of 3 chickens. The research was conducted in 6 weeks of treatment. The parameters measured in this study were ration consumption, calcium consumption, hen day production (HDP), eggshell weight, and thickness. The results showed that the use of AUDI technology on rations significantly improved (p <0.05) affected ration consumption, calcium consumption, and increased hen day production (HDP), but did not affect weight, and thickness of an eggshell. Feed intake and calcium consumption significantly influenced by differences in calcium and crude protein in the rations. Based on these results, it was found that the use of AUDI technology was able to shorten the clutch cycle in laying hens so that production still reached 60-70% equivalent with phase I. Weight and thickness of eggshells were not affected by the use of AUDI technology and improved rations because the hens used as subject had reached peak production.

Com o objetivo de avaliar o efeito de duas linhagens (italiana e japonesa) e de dois níveis de proteína bruta (20 e 26% PB) sobre o desempenho para corte foram utilizados 144 machos de codorna, criados em gaiola de 1 a 49 dias. Foram alojadas nove aves por gaiola, sorteadas de acordo com um esquema fatorial 2 x 2 em delineamento inteiramente aleatorizado com quatro repetições. O desempenho foi avaliado semanalmente. A linhagem italiana apresentou maiores peso médio, ganho de peso médio e consumo médio do que a japonesa. O consumo médio relativo e a conversão alimentar da linhagem italiana foram menores, indicando melhor capacidade de utilização do alimento. Abstract Male quails (144) were reared from 1 to 49 days in cages, to evaluate the effect of line (Italian and Japanese), and crude protein level (20 and 26% CP) upon growth performance for meat production. Nine birds were housed per cage, sorted out according to a 2 x 2 factorial scheme in an entirely randomized design with 4 repetitions. Growth performance was evaluated weekly. The Italian line had higher mean body weight, mean gain weight and mean feed intake than the Japanese line. The Italian line showed lower or equal means of feed intake adjusted for body weight, indicating that it had better feed utilization. Mean feed conversion of the italian line was better than that of the Japanese line.

This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of levels of calcium (Ca) and particle size of limestone (LS) for laying hens. It was used 216 Dekalb White laying hens at 25 to 49 weeks of age in a completely randomized design in a 3 × 2 factorial arrangement, composed of three levels of calcium (3.92, 4.02 and 4.12%) and two particle sizes of limestone (thin - 0.60 mm; and thick - 1.00 mm), resulting in 6 treatments with six replicates of six birds. There was no significant effect of levels of calcium and limestone particle size neither of the interaction calcium × particle size for feed intake, egg weight, specific gravity, shell thickness, shell percentage, Haugh unit, calcium and phosphorus digestibility and percentage of digestive tract. Production, mass, conversion by mass and conversion by egg dozen had their best results with 4.12% of calcium in the diet. Percentage of gizzard and feed intake observed at 3:00 p.m. improved as limestone granulometry improved from 0.60 to 1.00 mm. There was an interaction effect among calcium level and limestone granulometry for breaking strength of tibia, bone density, length of the small intestine and feed intake at 6:00 a.m.; 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., respectively. It is recommended the addition of 4.12% of calcium and limestone in the thick granulometry (1.00 mm) for a better performance of commercial laying hens. More studies are needed to elucidate the mechanisms involved in the alteration of nutritional behavior of laying hens in response to changes in the levels of calcium and in the granulometry of limestone in the rations.

This study aimed to determine the effect of fermented coconut waste on the growth of catfish (Clariassp). The study design used was completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Treatments included P0 (0% of fermented coconut waste in the feed), P1 (10% of fermented coconut waste in the feed), P2 (20% of fermented coconut waste in feed), and P3 (30% of fermented coconut waste in the feed). The observed variables were feed consumption, absolute body weight, feed conversion and survival rate. The results showed that using fermented coconut waste for catfish diet significantly (P <0.05) affected feed intake, absolute body weight, feed conversion and live survival of the fish. The conclusion of this research was using 20% of fermented coconut waste in the diet can increase the growth of catfish (Clariassp).

The potential of sugarcane peels as a substitute for maize offal in rabbit diets and its effect on growth, nutrient digestibility, and carcass characteristics were studied. Twenty five growing rabbits of mixed breeds and average body weight of 894±26.14g were used in a 7-week feeding trial. Five experimental diets were formulated in which sugarcane rind (SCR) was included at 0, 10, 20, 30 and 40% level to replace maize offal (weight for weight). The rabbits were balanced for weight and allotted to the treatments (n=5 rabbits/treatment) in a completely randomized design. Results obtained indicated that dry matter, crude protein, ether extract, nitrogen free extract, hemicellulose, acid and neutral detergent fibre intake and digestibility decreased with increasing level of sugarcane rind inclusion. Crude fibre intake (5.59-8.67 g/day) and digestibility (20.60-40.80%) however increased (P<0.05) as level of sugarcane rind increased in the diet. The 30% inclusion of sugarcane rind gave body weight gain (5.35 g/d) comparable to the control (6.41 g/d), 10 (7.78 g/d) and 20% (7.12 g/d) inclusion of sugarcane peels. Feed intake (44.61-40.59 g/d) decreased as the level of sugarcane rind increased in the diets. There was no significant (P>0.05) effect of sugarcane rind on metabolic body weight and feed efficiency. Inclusion of sugarcane rind at 30% level increased (P<0.05) thigh and head percentage but without any adverse effect on chest, loin, shoulder and skin. Based on the results, it is concluded that sugarcane rind is a good fibre source that can be used to replace maize offal up to 30% in rabbit diets.

Abstract. This study aims to analyze the consumption and digestibility of crude protein fruit skin and rambutan seeds an animals feed suplements in goat rations fed forage. The study was conducted in Sidrap Regency and the Laboratory of Animal Feed chemistery, Fakulty of animal husbandry, Hasanuddin University in Makassar, using a Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with a 4 x 4 pattern (P0: 100 % forage (control), P1: 15 % fruit skin and 5 % seeds rambutan + 80 % forage, P2: 10 % fruit skin and 10 % seeds rambutan + 80 % forage and P3: 5 % fruit skin and 15 % rambutan seeds + 80 % forage), 4 adult goat. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Duncan test, showing forage feeding with rambutan by-product supplements in the form of fruit skin and rambutan seeds as much as 20 % goat fodder had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the consumption of crude protein, and significant effect (P<0.05) on crude protein digestibility, Duncan’ test showed that there were significant differences (P<0.05) between each treatment. The study concluded that a good digestibility rate was obtained in P3 treatment, namely 5 % fruit skin and 15 % rambutan seeds + 80 % forage. It is recommended that further research be carried out to determine the level of feeding and changes in goat animal body weight. Keywords: rambutan skin and seeds, consumption, digestibility, goat.

ABSTRAKLimbah roti memiliki potensi sebagai pakan untuk domba, namun belum banyak diketahui dampaknya terhadap kecernaan. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menguji ransum yang mengandung limbah roti terhadap kecernaan pada domba. Dua puluh ekor domba lokal dengan bobot hidup 34,65±2,87 kg dialokasikan ke dalam 5 ransum perlakuan yang mengandung limbah roti sebanyak 0, 6, 12,18, dan 24%. Penelitian dilaksanakan secara eksmperimental dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan sidik ragam. Hasil menunjukan bahwa penggunaan limbah roti sampai 24% dalam ransum tidak berpengaruh terhadap kecernaan protein kasar, lemak kasar, bahan kering dan bahan organik dengan nilai rataan berturut-turut 54,91%, 73,39%, 66,80% dan 69,86%. Kesimpulan, limbah roti dapat digunakan dalam ransum sampai 24% dan tidak menganggu kecernaan pada domba.Kata kunci: domba, kecernaan, limbah, ransum, rotiABSTRACTBread waste has potential as a feed for sheep, but not yet known the impact on digestibility. The research aims to test the ration containing bread waste on digestibility in sheep. Twenty local sheep with a body weight of 34.65 ± 2.87 kg were allocated into 5 treatment rations containing bread waste of 0, 6, 12.18, and 24%. The study was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design. The data collected was analyzed by variance. The results showed that the use of bread waste up to 24% in the ration did not affect the digestibility of crude protein, crude fat, dry matter and organic matter with an average value of 54.91%, 73.39%, 66.80% and 69.86%. Conclusion, bread waste can be used in rations up to 24% and does not interfere with digestibility in sheep.Keywords: sheep, digestibility, waste, ration, bread

Time interval of supplementation of Morinda citrifolia L. by product on the performance broiler chicken ABSTRACT. The research using Completely Randomized Design with 3x2 factorial arrangement and 4 replicated. Dose of Morinda citrifolia by product (T) that is 0 g/kg ( T0); 0.50 g/kg ( T1); 0.75 g/kg ( T2) and 1.00 g/kg (T3) as first factor and time interval that is continue (A1) and 1 week interval (A2) as second factor. The performance parameters observed were : feed intake, body weight and small intestine measure. The result showed that no significant effect of time interval and interaction between time interval with Morinda citrifolia by product dose (p0.05) on feed intake and small intestine measure. The addition dose of Morinda citrifolia by product increased (p0.05) body weight, there was interaction (p0.05) between time interval and Morinda citrifolia by product dose on body weight.

Abstract The use of fermented sago waste (9 days incubation time) in the ration of native chicken is studied. 100 chicks of 7 days old native chicken were used. The experiment is being conducted in a completely randomized design in which the animals were divided into four treatments of ration. Each treatment was replicated five times. The experimental rations are: R0 (0% fermented sago waste), R1 (5% fermented sago waste), R2 (10% fermented sago waste) and R3 (15% fermented sago waste). Parameters measured were feed intake, feed conversion, body weight gain and carcass percentage. It appeared from this experiment that feeds intake were similar between birds. In grower birds, the use of fermented sago waste in the rations had no significant effect on feed intake. In both, starter and grower birds body weight gain was higher for birds consuming control ration than for those consuming ration with fermented sago waste. The use of 5 up to 15 percent fermented sago waste in the rations significantly affects feed conversion and carcass percentage in both, starter and grower birds.

The aim of the study was to know the effect of Curcuma xanthorhiza as herbal feed additive in the rations on dry matter consumption, body weight gain, feed efficiency and feed cost pergain of Simmental cross cattle. The research was conducted at PGS. Joe Cipir Jati Indah Village, Tanjung Bintang District, South Lampung Regency. The experimental used 12 male Simmental Cross Cattle with an average body weight of 166.25 ± 6.27 kg. The study used a quantitative method with a completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 4 replications. They were fed a complete feeding with control rations + 0% temulawak flour (P0), control ration + 1.5% temulawak flour (P1) and control ration + 3% temulawak flour (P2). The control ration is the usual ration given by farmers every day containing 8.35% crude protein and 59.63% TDN.
