The paper considers the types of microstrip devices of cross redundancy with the dimension 2 × 3 (3 × 2) for onboard equipment of a command and measurement system from the point of view of meeting the basic requirements applied to them. The new type of a microstrip power divider based on combination of the Lange bridge and directional Lange coupler and Wilkinson power divider is offered. The principle of its action is considered and design characteristics are given. The advantages over the known devices of this class are shown: the maximum transmission factor is −4.76 dB, isolation between the inputs is not less than 28 dB, VSWR of the inputs and outputs is not more than 1.4 dB in a frequency band of 12 %, and compactness and relative simplicity of a design.

This article is about the Human-Centered Design (HCD), development and evaluation of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithm aiming to support an adaptive management of Human-Machine Transition (HMT) between car drivers and vehicle automation. The general principle of this algorithm is to monitor (1) the drivers’ behaviors and (2) the situational criticality to manage in real time the Human-Machine Interactions (HMI). This Human-Centered AI (HCAI) approach was designed from real drivers’ needs, difficulties and errors observed at the wheel of an instrumented car. Then, the HCAI algorithm was integrated into demonstrators of Advanced Driving Aid Systems (ADAS) implemented on a driving simulator (dedicated to highway driving or to urban intersection crossing). Finally, user tests were carried out to support their evaluation from the end-users point of view. Thirty participants were invited to practically experience these ADAS supported by the HCAI algorithm. To increase the scope of this evaluation, driving simulator experiments were implemented among three groups of 10 participants, corresponding to three highly contrasted profiles of end-users, having respectively a positive, neutral or reluctant attitude towards vehicle automation. After having introduced the research context and presented the HCAI algorithm designed to contextually manage HMT with vehicle automation, the main results collected among these three profiles of future potential end users are presented. In brief, main findings confirm the efficiency and the effectiveness of the HCAI algorithm, its benefits regarding drivers’ satisfaction, and the high levels of acceptance, perceived utility, usability and attractiveness of this new type of “adaptive vehicle automation”.

The article is devoted to the consideration of the worldview positions of famous educators of the past century regarding the state of school education among Muslims of the North Caucasus region. It is proved that the enlighteners advocated the creation of a new type of national non-class school and the construction of the didactic foundations of the educational process in it. The novelty of the work is that, based on the analysis of the views of the advanced intelligentsia of the region, aimed at understanding the current socio-cultural situation, an attempt was made to scientifically understand the problems and prospects for the development of the Muslim educational system of the past from the point of view of the modern scientific paradigm. The practical significance of the publication lies in expanding the understanding of the system of Mohammedan education in the context of its historical heritage, which will help to comprehend modern problems associated with the reform of general and vocational education in the national Muslim republics.

Abstract In this paper we present a new type of vibration related to PDC bits in drilling and its mitigation: a vibration coupled in axial, lateral and torsional directions at a high common frequency (3D coupled vibration). The coupled frequency is as high as 400Hz. 3D coupled vibration is a new dysfunction in drilling operation. This type of vibration occurred more often than stick-slip vibration. Evidences reveal that the coupled frequency is an excitation frequency coming from the bottom hole pattern formed in bit/rock interaction. This excitation frequency and its higher order harmonics may excite axial resonance and/or torsional resonance of a BHA. The nature of 3D coupled vibration is more harmful than low frequency stick-slip vibration and high frequency torsional oscillation (HFTO). The correlation between the occurrence of 3D coupled vibration and bit design characteristics is studied. Being different from prior publications, we found the excitation frequency is dependent on bit design and the occurrence of 3D coupled vibration is correlated with bit design characteristics. New design guidlines have been proposed to reduce or to mitigate 3D coupled vibration.

Abstract Recent surges and advances in the popular use of electronic technology such as Internet, email, iPad, iPhone, and touch-screens in Africa have opened up great communicative possibilities among ordinary people whose voices were previously marginalized in traditional elitist media. People far apart geographically and living in different times can communicate rapidly and with great ease. This technological revolution has challenged and broken down boundaries of dependence on television, newspapers, and novels, the traditional forms of communication. It is now possible to upload a novel onto an iPad and read it as one moves from place to place. The burden of carrying hard copies is relieved but not eradicated; in most African countries, including Zimbabwe (the centre of focus in the present article), the creative work of art or hard copy of a novel is still relied upon as source of information. There are creative, experimental innovations in the novel form in Zimbabwe which to some extent can justify one’s speaking of a hypertextual novel. This new type of novel incorporates multiple narratives, and sometimes deliberately uses genres such as the email form as a constitutive narrative style that confirms as well as destabilizes previous assumptions of single coherent stories told from one point of view. Using the concepts of hypertextuality, intertextuality, and Bakhtin’s notions of carnivalesque and heteroglossia in speech and written utterances, this article reconsiders the implications of the presence of ideologies of hypertextuality in one novel from Zimbabwe, Nyaradzo Mtizira’s The Chimurenga Protocol (2008). The article argues that the multiplicity of narratives constitutes the hypertextual dimension of the novelistic form.

In this paper, we discuss the concept of a metamagnetic quantum critical end-point, consequence of the depression to zero temperature of a critical end-point terminating a line of first order first transitions. This new type of quantum critical point (QCP) is interesting both from a fundamental point of view: a study of a symmetry conserving QCP, and because it opens the possibility of the use of symmetry breaking tuning parameters, notably the magnetic field. In addition, we discuss the experimental evidence for the existence of such a QCP in the bilayer ruthenate Sr3Ru2O7.

1922-1924 was a fruitful period of Maxim Gorky's literature work. It is related to searching a new art form. The cycle “Stories of 1922-1924” is an expressive example of “new prose”. For the first time, the hermit character appeared in the cycle “Stories of 1922-1924”. From the point of view of generally recognized morality and the Church, the new type of character is ambiguous. It is characterized by both sinfulness and holiness.

The new Law on Criminal Procedure of the Republic of Serbia entered into force on June 10, 2006. It will apply starting from June 1, 2007 except for several provisions that have been effective ever since the Law entered into force. In this Article, the author has analyzed several new solutions from the first ten chapters of the Law from the logical, functional, historical and comparative point of view. The author concluded that the number of unacceptable and unnecessary solutions in this law seriously exceeded the number common for this kind of projects. It was hard to expect different result from the work which was done quickly and without critical reception with a noticeable intention of the authors to put their own original contribution to one, in fact, eclectic project. Since there is a lack of legal reasons, the author has outlined possible political intentions that might have been caused by the wish to show off with one more reformative project or from the intention to influence the criminal proceedings through the combination of the new type of investigation and current weakness of public prosecution. The line of new restrictive legal solutions, in which the goal is more dominant that the means to achieve the goal, and the measures to achieve the procedural discipline are more dominant than the care for rights brought the author to the conclusion that the reasons of palliative nature were the most crucial for some solutions and to the conclusion that since the justice was not able to get used to the application of good laws, the laws were simply adjusted to the bad justice.

A new type of enzyme kinetic mechanism is suggested by which catalysis may be viewed as a chain reaction. A simple type of one-substrate/one-product reaction mechanism has been analysed from this point of view, and the kinetics, in both the transient and the steady-state phases, has been reconsidered. This analysis, as well as literature data and theoretical considerations, shows that the proposed model is a generalization of the classical ones. As a consequence of the suggested mechanism, the expressions, and in some cases even the significance of classical constants (Km and Vmax.), are altered. Moreover, this mechanism suggests that, between two successive enzyme-binding steps, more than one catalytic act could be accomplished. The reaction catalysed by alcohol dehydrogenase was analysed, and it was shown that this chain-reaction mechanism has a real contribution to the catalytic process, which could become exclusive under particular conditions. Similarly, the mechanism of glycogen phosphorylase is considered, and two partly modified versions of the classical mechanism are proposed. They account for both the existing experimental facts and suggest the possibility of chain-reaction pathways for any polymerase.

AbstractWe discuss the classifiation of simply connected, complete (κ, µ)-spaces from the point of view of homogeneous spaces. In particular, we exhibit new models of (κ, µ)-spaces having Boeckx invariant -1. Finally, we prove that the number ${{(n + 1)(n + 2)} \over 2}$ is the maximum dimension of the automorphism group of a contact metric manifold of dimension 2n +1, n ≥ 2, whose symmetric operator h has rank at least 3 at some point; if this dimension is attained, and the dimension of the manifold is not 7, it must be a (κ, µ)-space. The same conclusion holds also in dimension 7 provided the almost CR structure of the contact metric manifold under consideration is integrable.

Renewable fuels cannot be evaluated clearly as a part of sustainability from their air pollution point of view. A comparison test series have been conducted and from their results external cost has been calculated. Three different fuels and their controlled blends have been investigated, which are the fossil diesel, conventional, standardized biodiesel, and a new type, so called TBK-biodiesel. Fuels have been investigated in a bus Diesel-engine, which operated in steady state points. Air pollution components like CO2, CO, HC, NOx and particulate have been taken into consideration for the calculation. The calculation method is a self-made one. On the basis of the results it can be stated that the overall external costs are higher in all cases of engine operating if renewable fuel is blended in the tested fuel.
