Information system of motor transport enterprise is one of the most important components of its activity. The perfection of this system strongly affects the efficiency of the enterprise. The purpose of the article is to develop proposals for improving the existing information system taking into account the characteristics of the enterprise. To achieve the objectives of the article, the following methods were used: information on approaches to defining the concept of information system was analyzed and synthesized, the existing approaches to the design of information systems were sassessed. Using a logical approach, the components of the information-logical model of the “Travel Letter” database were identified. The study also widely used the methods of comparative analysis, graphical method and the method of operagrams to study the document flow of the enterprise. In the article the information system of the motor transport enterprise which, unlike existing ones, takes into account current condition of the information flows, which provide effective management of the enterprise and optimizes the routes of document movement was further developed. The proposed improvements will allow MTE to achieve their goals more systematically, increase the speed of information flows, ensure their quality and efficiency. The obtained results, which include the development of an improved information system of the enterprise, allow to carry out further research on the document flow of all divisions and services of MTE and to develop their improved information systems on the basis of research results.

The rapid growth of information flows in science, business, production, education, culture requires appropriate adequate from modern IT technologies. for 21st century society is onerous spending a huge amount of paper, and information coming on such media, less than electronic. Electronic document systems (SED) are taking on increasing activity in modern conditions and are being introduced both to automate document flow management and as a platform for a single information system that expands the boundaries of capabilities and, accordingly, attracts the attention of the scientific and management communities. With the timely development of the country's economy, in general, and business companies create new problems associated with the management, processing, storage and control of the increasing volume of data flows. The article aims to consider the prospects and trends in the development of electronic document systems (SED), in the preconditions for the creation and briefly describes the history of the formation of the SED.

Electronics-based information networks have brought widespread transformations in the way information flows in university campuses, to such a degree that the expression “campus information system” is usually equivalent to “campus electronic networked information system.” Universities are highly decentralised organizations, so managing corporate electronic information resources poses challenges such as finding an optimal degree of standardisation or the global orientation of corporate information resources (Cornford, 2000). These challenges were less of a problem when using paper and in face-to-face campuses. Likewise, external pressures due to the rise of the network society pose questions about the role of universities. These questions affect the concept of information systems. Thus, it is time to review the conceptual framework for campus information systems, focusing on strategic information management of higher education institutions in networked environments. Characterisation is established and discussed, with special attention paid to students as the main users of campus information systems.

Currently, there is a demand for the automation of managerial decisions in corporations with state participation, which, in turn, face the need for competent allocation of resources in this area. The functional structure of the implemented system determines the economic efficiency of the system, the implementation result may be the benefits provided by information support from the entire complex of the information system. The object of the research is a tool for introducing the IT management system of a corporation. The author has formulated guidelines for a software comparative analysis of information systems for their rational implementation, and also proved the need for the implementation of effective management tools.

Executive Information Systems (EIS) began to become popular in Spain in the 1990s. This chapter offers a primary descriptive study of EIS in Spain, bearing in mind two aims: to study the EIS usage in Spain and undertake a comparative analysis with reference to previous research. In this way, starting from the recognized EIS development framework of Watson, Rainer and Koh (1991), the authors focus on the structural perspective of the EIS elements and the development process. The study is based on a survey involving 70 organizations. The results show both parallelisms with preceding studies and new contributions to the current knowledge in the EIS field. Finally, the chapter identifies future trends in the executive information system concept.

This paper studies information structures in a fuzzy β-covering information system. We introduce the concepts of a fuzzy β-covering information system and homomorphism between them, and investigate related properties. The concept of information structure of a fuzzy β-covering information system is given. We discuss the relationships between information structures from the view of dependence and separation. Then granularity measures for a fuzzy β-covering information system are studied. Finally, we discuss invariance of fuzzy β-covering information systems under homomorphism and illustrate its application on data compression.

This first content chapter of the book is meant to clarify the notions involved in the responsible management of information systems. The focus of this book is the concept of reflective responsibility, which will be developed in the subsequent chapters. However, the application of this theory will be the area of information systems. In order to develop what responsibility means in the context of information systems, we will therefore have to define the notion. This is not an easy task, as “information system” can mean many things. On the one hand there is the academic discipline, sometimes called information systems, computer information systems, management information systems, etc., and on the other hand there is the physical artefact. This artefact, be it a computer, a network, or some other type of ICT, becomes an information system by being used in social settings. Information systems have been defined as “an amalgam of hardware, software, procedures, and activities” (Lyytinen & Hirschheim, 1988, p. 19). This chapter will use another route to introduce the concept of information systems. It will look at three of the constitutive aspects of information systems, namely at business, information, and technology. By analysing these three terms and their composition, it will show what information systems are, and more importantly, why the theory of reflective responsibility is a promising approach to addressing the normative problems raised by them.

Based on a comparative analysis of the definitions of reliability and resistance, the article substantiates the possibility of using the probability of failure of radio-electronic equipment of an information system (REA IS) as an indicator of resistance to the effects of EMR. The interrelation of these definitions is shown and an analytical model is proposed for assessing the stability of equipment to the effects of a sequence of electromagnetic radiation. As an indicator of resistance, it is proposed to use the probability of failure of the REA during operation.

Information System (IS) has always been mixed up and confused with Management Information System (MIS) by many Information Technology professionals, and even in definitions ascribed to them thereby puzzling many users of Information Technology (IT). It should however, be noted that IS deals with the generality of the process of generating information from data; and MIS is definite about information generation for the use of management to enable them to efficiently / effectively plan, organize, direct, control and govern organisations. Any organisation lacking good IS and MIS for effective management of its functions / activities would be seriously handicapped, and as such could be doomed for collapse. Many modern organisations may be culprits of possessing the needed information for effective management of their enterprise, thereby denying the establishment of achieving its goals. It is a fact that achievement of organisational goals are synonymous with success of the enterprise, and management is required to attain the goals established with the directors of the company.

The information systems (IS) are a key asset for organizations. Therefore, managing IS risks becomes more and more important especially within a world in perpetual change. Since IS risk management creates added-value, it must follow a process of continuous improvement orchestrated by a maturity model that figures out available pathways for a better improvement. The studied literature shows the lack of an IS risk management maturity model that considers all IS components and specificities of risk management activity. The present article shows first this lack in the section related to the comparative analysis of the existing models. Then, it proposes a maturity model to address this issue. The proposed model aims to assess the information system risk management activity while considering the dependencies between its elements.
