The growth of the herbal industry in Malaysia has sparked the economy and it is identified as one of the new incomes to the country. This industry is expected to bring more job opportunities to the citizen in Malaysia. Demand for herbal products also has been increasing for the past few years. This study aims to contribute the general understanding of customer awareness and attitude in purchasing herbal products and show the relationship between demographic profile and customer awareness and attitude in purchasing herbal products. This study was conducted in Kuala Terengganu and the online Google form was used as study instrument for data collection. There were around 150 respondents that answered the questionnaire. The questionnaire was divided into 2 sections. The first section which is section A, discusses the socio-demographic profile of the respondents. The second part which is section B were in Likert-scale design to obtain the customers’ awareness and attitude in purchasing herbal products. Data that were collected in this study were analysed using a statistical tool which is Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The Descriptive analysis was used to provide simple summaries of the respondents while the Cross-tab with Chi-Square analysis was chosen to be used to test the statistical independence of the variables. From this study, the variable Age is the only demographic factor that shows a significant relationship towards the customers’ awareness and attitude in purchasing herbal products. Other demographic factors such as Gender, Education, Occupation, and Income shows independent and no relationship towards the customers’ awareness and attitude in purchasing herbal products. This study could be beneficial to researchers and marketers in understanding customer buying behaviour.

Analyzing the evolution characteristics and influencing factors of marine economic efficiency is the foundation to improve the quality of marine economic development. A super-efficiency Slacks-Based Measure (SBM) model is applied to measure the marine economic efficiency of 11 coastal provinces between 2006 and 2017 in China. Time series and standard deviation ellipse methods are used to analyze its temporal and spatial characteristics. The influencing factors of efficiency are analyzed using the Bayesian model averaging (BMA) method based on the indicator system constructed on the relationship between the Belt and Road and marine economic efficiency. The research found that (1) the average change of marine economic efficiency is not large, and the efficiency values among most provinces are relatively stable. (2) The center of gravity of marine economic efficiency gradually shifts from the northeast to the southwest; the spatial scope continues to shrink, the level of flatness indicates increase at first followed by decrease, and the direction angle shows a fluctuating trend. (3) The compliance rate of industrial wastewater discharge and the diversification of the marine industry structure have strong explanatory capacity in marine economic efficiency in the coastal areas. This research proposed the specific path to improve the efficiency of marine economy and facilitate quality development under the “Belt and Road” initiative from the aspects of the optimization of the marine industry structure, the integrated construction of transportation, the development of opening to the outside world, the progress of marine science and technology, and the improvement of the marine ecological environment.

This study estimates potential economic impacts of developing drought- and shade-tolerant bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon) turf varieties in five southern states: Texas, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, and North Carolina. First, estimates are provided for the market-level crop values of the newly developed two varieties for each state. Then, an economic impact analysis is conducted using an input–output model to assess additional output values (direct, indirect, and induced impacts), value added, and employment due to the new varieties. Our results indicate that the two new varieties would offer significant economic impacts for the central and eastern regions of the United States. Under the assumption of full adoption, the two new products would generate $142.4 million of total output, $91.3 million of value added, and 1258 new jobs. When a lower adoption rate is assumed at 20%, the expected economic impacts would generate $28.5 million of output, $18.3 million of value added, and 252 jobs in the region. Our findings quantify the potential economic benefits of development and adoption of new turfgrass varieties with desirable attributes for residential use. The findings suggest that researchers, producers, and policymakers continue their efforts to meet consumers’ needs, and in doing so, they will also reduce municipal water consumption in regions suited to bermudagrass varieties.

Economic Modeling Specialist International (EMSI) model is a common economic development research tool that has begun to be utilized for tourism research. Therefore, it is important to examine the differences between the EMSI model and the commonly used Impact Analysis for Planning (IMPLAN) model. The multiplier effects of the default version of EMSI and IMPLAN were compared using data obtained from a visitor expenditure survey of the Jackson Mississippi Mistletoe Marketplace. The results revealed that IMPLAN estimated larger multiplier effects (both type I and type II) than EMSI for the total output and employment (job supports).

A sectoral model of the forest product sector (FPS) comprising the wood, furniture, and pulp and paper industries has been developed and estimated from 31 (1961–1991) years of data. The model consists of seven behavioral equations ((i) total output, (ii) domestic consumption, (iii) exports, (iv) imports, and prices of (v) consumption, (vi) exports, and (vii) imports) and one identity for each industry. Four additional identities complete the structure of the entire FPS model. The performance of this model is evaluated by sample period simulation. A forecast has been made for the next 5 years, and impact analysis has been done for changes in housing activity. The forecast indicates a slower annual growth in the FPS than in the total economy.

The lead-free casting solders Sn-3.5Ag-xCo (x = 0, 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 mass%, respectively) were subjected to isothermal aging at 150°C for 0, 1008 and 2016 h, respectively. The nanoindentation methodology was employed herein to assess the mechanical properties. In particular, the strain rate sensitivity index value was derived from the creep deformation at the dwell time of the target constant load using Mayo-Nix theory. Basically, there is no remarkable tendency of the variation of Young’s modulus after aging, while to some extent, the hardness of the alloys drops. The strain rate sensitivity index value continues to decrease with the prolonged aging time. The solder grain growth and the coarsening of the intermetallics namely, Ag3Sn and CoSn2, are responsible for the mechanical evolution of the alloys. The 1.0% (mass%) Co additive improved the hardness of the solder alloy, and caused the decrease of the strain rate sensitivity value.
