<p>The aim of the research is to find out the use of figurative languages, the<br />dominant one, and the moral values in the selected poems of William Shakespeare. This<br />research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The results obtained include: there are 14 kinds of figurative language used in the selected poems, they are metaphor, simile, symbol, personification, litotes, hyperbole, metonymy, synecdoche, allusion, alliteration,<br />repetition, assonance, parallelism, and paradox. The dominant of figurative language used in the selected poems is a metaphor. There are five moral values, such as appreciation, joy, love, honesty, and loyalty.<br />Keywords: literature; figurative language; moral value; poetry</p>

This research focuses on Rob Hall�s characterizations and moral values found in �Everest: Never Let Go� Film. The aims of this research are to find out Rob Hall�s characterizations portrayed in the Film Everest: Never Let Go and the moral values of the Film. The researcher used the theory about psychological analysis (based on Sigmund Freud in Schultz, 2005) to find out Rob characters through his words or sentences in script of Everest; Never Let Go Film and semiotics theory (based on Roland Barthes, 1968, 1990, 1991) to find out the characteristics of Rob Hall through pictures or signs which show his character in Film �Everest: Never Let Go� with print screen of each pictures or signs, and theory of moral value based on George and Uyanga (2014). Qualitative descriptive method was used by the researcher to find out the characteristic of Rob Hall in Everest: Never Let Go Film and the moral values of Rob Hall characterized in the Film. As result, the researcher found 6 characterizations of Rob Hall in Everest: Never Let Go Film, those are Honest, Sociable, Responsible, Assertive, Attentive, and Pessimistic. Folklore is a story that originated in society and developed in society in the past which played an important role in the development of children's character learning in the form of moral values. The purpose of this study was to explain the moral values contained in folklore to improve character education. This study used a qualitative descriptive research design. Where all the data collected is based on books and other supporting document data. From the discussion of the Timun Mas folklore, there are eight prominent moral values, namely religious values, independent values, curiosity values, hard work values, responsibility values, honesty values, creativity, the value of the spirit of hard work. And from the research results, it can be concluded that the folklore of Timun Mas has many moral values that can be applied in the world of Education to shape character.

This research intends to describe local wisdom in cultural tradition of randai as a tradition of performing art in customary activities such as the coronation ceremony and inheritance of customary titles, akikah, batagakpanghulu, circumcision, marriage, until the main events of various youth activities and other tradition. The paper employs qualitative descriptive method which is based on the empirical observation and grounded study as the strategy of inquiry. The findings of research are the existence of local wisdom of Minangkabau culture in randai such as: a) sambah silek as a reflection of traditional philosophy of basandi syarak-syarak basandi of the Kitabullah; b) carito kato in randai as a reflection of philosophy for kato nan ampek that has advice; c) Minangkabau language in randai as a reflection of self-identity; d) philosophy of alama takambang jadi guru as a way of life that has moral value; e) the silek randai movement as a reflection of the identity of the anak nagari that has solidarity, and f) bakaba in randai as a social identity.

ABSTRACTThe moral value conveyed by the author to the reader through works of fiction especially novels is useful and useful to the reader. This study aims to describe the moral values associated with social messages and expose the moral values associated with the religious message contained in the novel Tasawuf Cinta by M. Hilmi As'ad. The method used in this research is analytic descriptive method. The results of this study indicate the moral values associated with social messages are: (1) social in social life; (2) relations between human beings of religion, and (3) association between the opposite sex. The moral values associated with the religious message are: (1) the relationship of man and God; (2) human nature and conscience; (3) the personal freedom that man possesses; And (4) the dignity and dignity of each individual.Keywords: moral value, novel

The aim of this research is to find out the kinds of figurative language and imagery in the song lyrics of Taylor Swift’s “1989” Album. Furthermore, in this research the researcher used qualitative descriptive method. The result of the study is presented in the form of paragraphs. The researcher analyzed the songs by reading them intensively and giving attention for each line. After that, the researcher examined the figurative language and imagery of the songs lyrics. After investigating the sentence in the songs lyrics, the researcher found eight kinds of figurative languages that are used in the songs lyrics, they are personification, metaphor, hyperbole, simile, oxymoron, allusion, litotes and metonymy. Six kinds of imagery also used in the songs lyrics, they are visual imagery, auditory imagery, organic imagery, kinesthetic imagery, tactile imagery and olfactory imagery. The most dominant of figurative language used is personification and the dominant imagery used is visual imagery. Keywords: figurative language, imagery, lyrics

Figurative language is language that uses various kinds of figures. Figurative language is a form of using language in the form of a comparison or parable. This research analyze figurative language in Coldplay's song lyrics. The data source is taken from all song lyrics of Parachutes album by Coldplay. The purposes of this research are: (1) to describe the types of figurative language found in Coldplay song lyrics, (2) to explain the meaning of figurative language contained in the selected song lyrics, and (3) to find out the types of figurative language is dominantly used in Coldplay song lyrics. This research uses qualitative descriptive method. The data analysis of this research is to follow the following steps: selecting songs that contain figurative language, identifying types of figurative language by reading carefully, classifying types of figurative language from the data, and making conclusions. The results of this research show that the total number of figurative languages used in the lyrics of the song parachutes Coldplay is 35 types of figurative language. Which consists of: 2 simile, 3 repetition, 9 metaphor, 8 hyperbole, and 13 rhetoric. The type of figurative language most dominantly is rhetoric.

The research is aimed at describing the moral value aspects of human-to-human relationships in Kumpulan Cerita Rakyat Daerah Jambi by Thabran Kahar. The moral value consists of aspects (1) caring for others, (2) helping, (3) deliberation, (4) living together, (5) forgiving, (6) keep on promise, (7) appreciating others. This research includes descriptive qualitative types. Qualitative descriptive describes an event with words or images of objects with actual circumstances. The data sources in this research are words, sentences, quotations or expressions that can be found in the dialogue of the characters in Kumpulan Cerita Rakyat Daerah Jambi by Thabran Kahar. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that aspects of the moral value of human relationships with other human beings are contained in the Kumpulan Cerita Rakyat Daerah Jambi by Thabra Kahar. The data showed that there are 60 expressions that are divided into seven aspects of moral values including: caring for each other as many as 14 quotations, please help as many as 12 quotations, deliberation as many as 9 quotations, living together as many as 8 quotations, forgiving as many as 6 quotes, keep on promise as many as 4 quotations, and respect others as many as 7 quotations.

This research is descriptive method. By employing descriptive method, this research was trying to present an analysis of moral value and character  in novel Negeri 5 Menara novel by Ahmad Fuadi. Most of the data taken from books and internet references. It aims at finding out the differences between the major character and the minor character and the moral value. This study is structural analysis by employing descriptive method approach. This research is expected to be able to identify the specific differences between the major character and the minor character and the moral value. Hopefully the writer is able to identify some differences of the major and minor characters and find the moral value of the novel. As the result of this research we can identify some character differences. In factual, the major character and the minor character are found in Negeri 5 Menara novel, but they have some differences themselves. And also the moral value is found. There were six major characters as the protagonist that were grouped into “Sahibul Menara”. They were Alif Fikri, Raja Lubis, Said Jufri, Dulmajid, Atang Yunus, and Baso Salahuddin. The other characters in the novel were minor characters, such as Ayah, Amak, Kiai Rais, Ustad Salman, and Tyson. The differences between the major characters and the minor characters in the novel were the major characters that took some important role in the story and the minor characters who did not take important role. The minor characters appeared only to support the major characters even though the minor characters showed up some times. The moral values which could be taken from the novel “Negeri 5 Menara” were sincerity, patience, honesty, and leadership as characterized in the novel. Finally the writer suggests to readers especially English literature students to conduct more research for understanding the analysis of protagonist character.

<p><em>Every early childhood must develop various developments in the end, from several types of construction, one of which is the development of religious and moral values. Modernization of the times, the impact on decreased awareness of the importance of religious values for children. Needing to instill the religious value itself needs to be habituated early on. This research was conducted to study how educators implement story-telling in learning that helps in assessing religion in early childhood. The implementation of the story-telling method for the inculcation of early childhood religious values is based on facts in the field related to the condition of children at this time. The purpose of this study is to learn more about the process of implementing story-telling in improving religious values in early childhood, and to learn more about the results of increasing religious values. In this study, using a qualitative descriptive method using case studies, Data collection techniques used were the method of observation, interviews, and documentation. Research methods using triangulation techniques to study teachers and field observations. The results of this study, research on the technique used to tell this story, can use various media types such as dolls, pictures, or other media to attract the interests of children. The process of implementing the story-telling method is done in learning and habituation activities. After the appropriate techniques and efforts are carried out, further reviews will be made related to the percentage of success obtained.</em></p><p><strong><em>Keywords</em></strong><em>. This study aims to discover the moral value in character of Learisa Kayeli's Crocodile story written and developed by Asrif. Literary studies talking about children's literature through Maluku folklore are still not found in scientific journals. Therefore, the theory used in this study is the children’s literature theory of Burhan Nurgiyantoro. The research method used descriptive method of content analysis. This study describes the qualifications and disclosure of the character from the story as an introduction in interpreting the moral values. This story was chosen because (1) it has never been examined using children's literature theory; (2) the important characters are played by animal characters and result in more readers’ imagination compared to stories with human characters; (3) this story is intended for children especially for the fourth, fifth, and sixth graders; (4) it has a complete storyline; and (5) it is printed Maluku folklore written in Indonesian and went through digitalization process. This study concludes that there are seven moral values conveyed by the author in character of Learisa Kayeli's Crocodile story, namely: (1) do not be afraid to defend the truth or to quell tyranny even though life is at stake in order to create a harmonious and peaceful life; (2) appreciate the one who has contributed in (saving) your life in order to establish eternal brotherhood until the end of life; (3) do not disturb the peace of other people's lives so that your lives remain fortune; (4) never give up in trying to do something so that your dreams can be achieved; (5) make good friends with others so that you may be accepted by anyone and anywhere including in any new environment; (6) be patient in solving any obstacles in life so you can cherish other people; and (7) be wise to the surrounding environment in order to create a healthy natural balance so that it can provide benefits for mankind. Kajian ini bertujuan menelusuri nilai moral dalam tokoh cerita rakyat Maluku berjudul Buaya Learisa Kayeli yang ditulis dan dikembangkan oleh Asrif. Kajian sastra yang mengangkat tentang sastra anak melalui cerita rakyat Maluku masih belum ditemukan dalam karya ilmiah. Teori yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah teori sastra anak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif analisis. Kajian ini mendeskripsikan kualifikasi dan pengungkapan watak tokoh cerita sebagai pengantar dalam menafsirkan nilai moral yang terkandung di dalamnya. Cerita ini dipilih karena (1) belum pernah dikaji melalui  kajian sastra anak; (2) para tokoh penting diperankan oleh karakter binatang sehingga nilai fantasinya lebih tinggi daripada cerita dengan tokoh manusia; (3) cerita ini diperuntukkan bagi anak-anak terutama kelas 4, 5, dan 6; (4) memiliki cerita yang utuh; dan (5) merupakan cerita rakyat Maluku yang sudah dibukukan dan sudah berbahasa Indonesia bahkan sudah mengalami proses digitalisasi. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa ada tujuh nilai moral yang disampaikan pengarang dalam tokoh cerita Buaya Learisa Kayeli, yaitu (1) janganlah takut membela kebenaran/menumpas kezaliman meskipun nyawa menjadi taruhannya supaya tercipta kehidupan yang harmonis dan tenteram; (2) hargailah orang yang telah berjasa dalam (menyelamatkan) hidupmu supaya terjalin persaudaraan yang abadi sampai akhir hayat; (3) janganlah suka mengganggu ketenangan hidup orang lain supaya tidak bernasib buruk di kemudian hari; (4) jangan pernah menyerah dalam berusaha supaya impianmu bisa tercapai; (5) berperangailah dengan baik terhadap orang lain supaya kamu bisa diterima oleh siapa pun dan di mana pun termasuk di lingkungan baru sekali pun; (6) bersabarlah dalam menghadapi rintangan kehidupan supaya buah dari kesabaran itu bisa bermanfaat bagi orang lain; dan (7) bersikap bijaklah terhadap lingkungan sekitar supaya tercipta keseimbangan alam yang sehat sehingga bisa memberikan keuntungan bagi umat manusia.
