<p>The use of preposition of place in speaking performance still becomes problems for students. Therefore; it is important to evaluate the students’ ability in using preposition of place. This research aimed at evaluating the students’ ability and describing the problems faced by students in using prepositions of place in speaking performance.</p><p>The descriptive qualitative method was applied in this research. The instrument of this research was an oral test. To get the data, the researcher used Tape Video Recorder (TVR). There were 25 participants of the first semester students of English study program of Timor University chosen randomly as the sample in this research. There were four steps used in analyzing the data, namely transcribing, codifying, analyzing and describing.</p><p>The results of the research showed that five students passed and nineteen students failed in the test. The highest score was 80,95 and the lowest score was 31. There was one student categorized as very good; two students were categorized as good; three students were categorized as enough; eleven students were categorized poor and seven students were categorized as very poor. For the kind of preposition; the highest percentage was IN which was 67,53%. Then it was followed by ON which was 57,32%. The preposition BEHIND made 55,51% which was higher than NEAR/CLOSE which was 51,56% but it is lower than IN FRONT OF which was 56,57%. The preposition UNDER was 48,39% which was higher than AT. The lowest percentage was preposition AT which was 47,94%.. The students’ average score was 54,60. Therefore the students’ level of ability was categorized as poor. This means that the students failed in using prepositions of place in speaking performance.</p>

This study aims to determine the Tourist Perception of Bokori Island Tourism Object in Bokori Village, Soropia District of Konawe Regency. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Subjects in this study were tourists visiting attractions Bokori Island. Traveler sampling in this study set out in the quota sampling 50 respondents, in this study the sample collection technique by accidental sampling.Methods of  data collection using questionnaires, observation and documentation. Questionnaire data analysis in this research is the analysis presented in the table percentage and distribution. Based on the results obtained show that, according to the perception of tourists attractions of the Bokori Island (1) appeal to the average score - average rating of 3.31 with the perception of being in either category, (2) accessibility with a mean score - average of 3.40 with the perception of tourists are in good category, (3) visitor facilities with a mean score - average rating of 3.12 with the perception of being in either category, (4) infrastructure with a mean score - average 3.53 with the perception of tourists were in the excellent category, (5) security with a mean score - average of 3.24 with the perceptions of visitors are in good category, (6) the promotion with a mean score - average of 3.32 with the perceptions of visitors are in either category. Thus the perception of the overall rating showed a mean score - average rating of 3.32 with the perception of being in either category.

The study of turn taking in extensive reading lecture is aimed at investigation the types of turn taking and its functions. The scope of this study is restricted only to the classroom interaction in extensive reading lecture. There are 30 students and 1 lecturer taken as the respondents. They are taken by purposive sampling. In collecting the data, all utterances produced by the speakers were recorded and scripted. Finally, those scripts were analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method in terms of types of turn taking and its functions.The result shows that there are three turn taking types in extensive reading lecture, namely: taking the turn, holding the turn and yielding the turn. Additionally, there are eleven functions of turn taking in extensive reading lecture, namely: informative, organisation, affective, responsive, external thinking, interrogative, judgemental, intentional, hypothetical, reproductional, and imaginative functions. Keywords: turn, turn taking, and extensive reading lecture

This study aims to determine the students’ speaking skill before and after applying Guessing Game and find out the effect of Guessing Game on the students’ speaking skill at the first semester of English education study program of STAIN Bengkalis. This research is experimental research that involved 18 students at the first semester of English Education Study Program of STAIN Bengkalis. Speaking test was implemented in order to collect the students’ speaking performance, and the collected data were quantitatively analyzed. Guessing Game has a less significant effect in improving the students’ speaking skill at the first semester of English education study program of STAIN Bengkalis. This is evidenced by the results of t-o (1,3) smaller than t-table.

The aim of this research is to know the process of Lesson Study based learning and the improvement of sytaxis learning achievement through Lesson Study based learning on IV semester students of Indonesian Language and Letter Education Study Program Pakuan University. This research is desgined as action research with lesson study based. There are four cycles used in this research. Every stage on lesson study cycles comprise of plan, do, see. The data colleted is analyzed using descriptive qualitative method. The result of the research shows that lesson study based learning process gives a wide opportunity, both to the lecturer and students to innovate, enhance activity, creativity, communication, and interaction during learning process. Collbaorative learning using various strategies, method, technique and media can focused the students in learning and understanding knowledge. It is relevant to be applied in syntactic learning where students discuss the events of concreat and contextual language use. Based on the observation result, the observers agree to the application of lesson study based learning. Students response are also positive towards the lesson study based learning, which can be stated that students are more interested in learning using lesson study based learning. Students syntax learning achievement shows an improvement, average score for posttest in first cycles 68,78, average score insecond cycle is77,45, average score in third cycle is 78,15, and average score in fourth cycles is 80,52. Therefore it can be concluded that there is an improvement on syntaxis learning achievement through lesson study based learning on IV semester students of Indonesian Language and Letter Education Study Program Pakuan University.

The lecture on algebra has not involved students in working together. Thus, one effort that can be done is implementing the jigsaw cooperative learning model. This study aims to describe the student collaboration activities in the introduction to algebra course using the jigsaw cooperative learning. This research is a quantitative descriptive study. The subjects were 32 first semester students of 2019 who were enrolled in the introduction to algebra course in the Mathematics Education Study Program, FMIPA, Universitas Negeri Malang. The instrument in this study was an observation sheet of student activities, and the supporting data were the results of individual exercises. Data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that student collaboration activities in the jigsaw cooperative learning in the introduction to algebra course were very good, as indicated by the average score of students in completing individual exercise problems was 90. Thus, it can be concluded that the selection of an appropriate learning model can enhance student collaboration in learning abstract mathematical concepts.

This study aims to determine the work of students in drawing shapes based on the principles of fine art. The objects drawn are fruit and fruit baskets. The population of this study were all students of class X with a total of 324 students, and the sample was 36 students' work. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The results of this study indicate that the overall work produced by applying the principles of fine arts has a fairly good score with an average score of = 81.86 in the category C (good enough) on the principle of unity. Then in the principle of composition an average value of = 80.35 in the category C value (good enough), then on the principle of perspective, the average value = 81.67 in the category C value (good enough) and the principle of dark-light fine acquisition value = 82.15 in the category of value (good enough). So from that the overall acquisition of an average value = 81.51 in the category C value (good enough).

The aim of this research was to investigate the forms and the differences of code mixing by English Study Program students. The subject were four enrollments, they were 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th semester students. The object of this researcher was English Study Program student’s status on Facebook. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The instruments of this research were note and checklist. Technique of this research was documentation. The result of this research shows the English Study Program students used forms of code mixing such as; the insertion of word, the insertion of phrase, the insertion of hybrid, the insertion of word reduplication, the insertion of idiom, and the insertion of clause. Furthermore, there were the differences of using of code mixing by English Study Program students in each semester

This study aims to reveal the level of student interest in technical education building of the FT UNJ the teaching profession, the study was conducted starting from March until July, 2016. The study was conducted in Building Engineering Study Program, this research uses descriptive qualitative method, namely data collection techniques by spreading questionnaires and interviews as the reinforcement of the answers to the questionnaire. The results of this study are students of Technical Education Building has a high interest in the teaching profession, they considered that the teaching profession is a noble job, and for that assessment increases the pleasure of students in teaching, and all it's the result that students PTB FT UNJ have high interest in the teaching profession

The ability to understand the meaning relationship is the ability to understand the relationship of meaning in sentences which include synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, homographs, homophones, hyponyms; hypernIM, and polysemia. This study aims to find out and describe how the level of students' ability to understand the relationship of meaning in sentences in the aspects above. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method, while the technique of collecting data is multiple choice objective test techniques. The population in this study amounted to 218 students and the study sample was set at 54 people. The sampling technique used is the stratified proportional random sampling technique. The results showed that overall, the level of ability to understand meaning relations in the sentence of class XI Even semester of SMK Persada Bandar Lampung was categorized enough with an average score of 68.59. For each aspect, the level of students' ability is as follows: ability of synonymy in good category (77%), ability to understand antonyms in good categories (73.59%), ability to understand homonyms in good categories (73.70), ability to understand homophones in good categories ( 72.18%), the ability to understand homographs is in the less category (50.35), the ability to understand hyponyms is in the good category (77.74%), the ability to understand hypernimms is in a sufficient category (62.33), and the ability to understand polysemi in the less category (59.62%).

Implicature was refers to implied meaning in utterance that can be understood by indirectly expression. In informal conversation was occurred the hidden meaning of what actually said by the speakers.  This study was investigated the types of implicature in informal conversations used by the English education study program students.  The study was aimed to analyze the types of implicature and how the implicature is carried out in the informal conversations.  The method of study was a descriptive qualitative method.  The subjects of this study were 25 students of English study program who have informal conversation. The students’ conversation was transcribed and analyzed by using checklist instrument. The results was shown that 1) there were three types of implicature found in the informal conversations; conventional implicature, generalized conversational implicature and particularized conversational implicature, and 2) the implicature is carried out in the informal conversations by the used of generalized conversational implicature and particularized conversational implicature. Moreover, a conclusion is students in the informal conversation have potentially implicature that indicates that their utterance has implied meaning. The suggestions, the study about implicature should be conducted in different area such as movie, drama or others, to give enrichment information in the Pragmatics study.
