The study of turn taking in extensive reading lecture is aimed at investigation the types of turn taking and its functions. The scope of this study is restricted only to the classroom interaction in extensive reading lecture. There are 30 students and 1 lecturer taken as the respondents. They are taken by purposive sampling. In collecting the data, all utterances produced by the speakers were recorded and scripted. Finally, those scripts were analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method in terms of types of turn taking and its functions.The result shows that there are three turn taking types in extensive reading lecture, namely: taking the turn, holding the turn and yielding the turn. Additionally, there are eleven functions of turn taking in extensive reading lecture, namely: informative, organisation, affective, responsive, external thinking, interrogative, judgemental, intentional, hypothetical, reproductional, and imaginative functions. Keywords: turn, turn taking, and extensive reading lecture

This research investigated “The Analysis of Gesture Used by Students of English Study Program in the Classroom Interaction at University of Sembilanbelas November, Kolaka”. The research problems were: what kinds of gesture that used by the students in the classroom interaction? And what are the functions of gesture which used by the students? With the objective of the research were to figure out several kinds of gesture that the students used in the classroom and to find out functions of gesture which used by the students. The method that used of this research was The Descriptive-Qualitative Method. The instruments that used in this research, those were observation and interview. The research participants in this research was the students of English Study Program and amounted to about 30 students, the lesson, as schedule in the fourth semester was Speaking Class, at the University of Sembilanbelas November, Kolaka. The results of this research concluded that, there were 29 kinds of the gesture which used by the students in the classroom interaction. And the functions of gesture were used by the students was also variously. But the functions of gesture were used by the students almost all of them were same. It was to show the sign of the tough-minded and stubborn individual, the interest of the student in the conversation, the student was lacking in self-confidence, courtesy and good attitude, showed disagreement, showed self-controlling, authority when argue, the persons’ habitual, the persons’ forgetfulness, the person’s shy nature, the person’s confident, showed self, the person enthusiasm when respond something, showed the courtesy, to disguise nervousness, to illustrate numbers, to clarify, gave comment, to express kept the confidence, to express the student felt nervous and insecure.

This research was conducted to analyze how modernization affects the implementation of public service administration policies, especially in Kediri, East Java. As is well known, from time to time various aspects of life are required to undergo changes to a more modern direction. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. Descriptive qualitative research is aimed at obtaining an overview of how modernization affects public service administration policies in Kediri. To obtain the necessary data, the authors used a purposive sampling technique so that the sample taken was more focused, assisted by a review of several related previous studies. The results showed that modernization, especially in the field of technology, was sufficient to influence public service administration policies in Kediri.

Cohesive devices in a piece of writing serve to unify sentences within a text. Building upon Halliday and Hasan’s (1976) Cohesion in English, this study aimed to identify and classify cohesive devices and also to discover the effects of cohesion overuse and underuse found in synopsis writings written for Book Report 1 and Book Report 2 assignment. The data were collected from 40 synopsis writings produced by the 4th and 5th semester students of English Study Program of Universitas Gadjah Mada. The data analysis applied a qualitative method and the data collection used purposive sampling technique. The findings showed that reiteration was the most prominently used type and followed by reference, conjunction, and collocation with the frequency 2,193 (56.94%), 1,405 (36.48%), 64 (2.92%), and 252 (6.54%) times respectively. Other types with low occurrences were elliptical and substitutional cohesion that occurred 3 (0.078%) and 2 (0.051%) times respectively. In some cases, students tended to overuse and underuse cohesive devices. In terms of cohesion overuse, in some cases, the use of reiteration leading to lexical redundancy and monotonous sentences. And in cohesion underuse, the lack of using personal reference and temporal conjunction yielding ineffective and less cohesive sentences. The aim of this research is to exploring the psychology dynamics of K-Pop fangirl. Data were analyzed through descriptive qualitative method which obtained through interview. Subject selected based on purposive sampling method. The result showed that: a) Fangirls idolize K-Pop because of Idol music and Idol visual aspects. b) The three subjects are in Intense personal feeling level of Celebrity worshipping behavior. Each of them also feels like have an emotional attachment towards their idol. c) One of the subjects seems like have a sense of owning them (Bias is mine behavior). Subject thinks that every idol who has a romantic relationship towards another girl same as they betray their fans. d) There is also fujoshi behavior (in Japanese) in one of the subjects, a term of women who does like romantic interaction between same-sex (Bromance).

This research aims to know how Arabic dictionary affective in translating Qiraah by using android application. This research used descriptive qualitative method. Meanwhile, the population of this research is the second semester academic year 2016/2017 with purposive sampling as a technique to collect the sample is PS 6. The data were collected by using test, observation, and interview. The instrument of this research is performance instrument, observation guidance, and interview guidance. The data collection have done from the result of this research would be analyzed by using qualitative data analyzed. The result of this research showed that 1). Based on the performance of the students in general were able to translate Qiraah that have been prepared. 2). The result of interview showed that the students easy to find out the meaning of each mufradat so that by using this method in translating the Arabic text at the previous meeting. As the result, this application is very helpful in translating.

This research aims to find out how the process and stages are carried out to make batik colors using natural ingredient pacar kuku leaves, to find out how the results of batik coloring in terms of color evenness, color sharpness, and color absorption using natural ingredient pacar kuku leaves, and to find out how the influence of the time difference for one day, two days and theree days done when soaking batik cloth using natural ingredient pacar kuku leaves (Lawsonia Inermis L). This research is a qualitative research. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. The population contained in this research were all first year students of Al-Ghazali Class SMP IT Bina Insan, using Purposive Sampling technique, which is a sampling technique with certain considerations. Work evaluation indicators, such as; color evenness, color sharpness, and color absorption as well as the time differences. The results showed that overall the work of batik coloring experiment with natural ingredient pacar kuku leaves (Lawsonia Inermis L) from the time differences for one day, two days and theree days obtained good category result. color evenness overall obtained good category result, color absorption obtained good category result and color sharpness obtained good category result. Much attention has been paid on the phonological errors in tongue twister activity of Javanese and Sundanese people. In Indonesia, every single area has different pronunciation dialects, especially Javanese and Sundanese. Javanese is famous with “medok”. It is the Javanese dialect which is powerful when spelling P and B. Some Sundanese people find it difficult to spell F and V. For example when speaking “of”, Sundanese usually says “op”. The aim of this paper to prove assumption about Javanese people who are famous with medok sounds and for Sundanese people having difficulties to says f and v. The writers use qualitative method, with descriptive qualitative design. This paper uses purposive sampling design. For the participants the writers choose fifth semesters students of IKIP Siliwangi Bandung aged twenty until twenty-one years old. The samples are five Javanese people and five Sundanese people (four males and six females). The result of this research for Javanese people have 57% phonological errors of bilabial sounds and for Sundanese people have 59% phonological errors of labio-dental sounds. The result of this study supports people’s assumption about phonological errors made by Javanese and Sundanese people in producing bilabial and labio-dental sounds.

<p>The use of preposition of place in speaking performance still becomes problems for students. Therefore; it is important to evaluate the students’ ability in using preposition of place. This research aimed at evaluating the students’ ability and describing the problems faced by students in using prepositions of place in speaking performance.</p><p>The descriptive qualitative method was applied in this research. The instrument of this research was an oral test. To get the data, the researcher used Tape Video Recorder (TVR). There were 25 participants of the first semester students of English study program of Timor University chosen randomly as the sample in this research. There were four steps used in analyzing the data, namely transcribing, codifying, analyzing and describing.</p><p>The results of the research showed that five students passed and nineteen students failed in the test. The highest score was 80,95 and the lowest score was 31. There was one student categorized as very good; two students were categorized as good; three students were categorized as enough; eleven students were categorized poor and seven students were categorized as very poor. For the kind of preposition; the highest percentage was IN which was 67,53%. Then it was followed by ON which was 57,32%. The preposition BEHIND made 55,51% which was higher than NEAR/CLOSE which was 51,56% but it is lower than IN FRONT OF which was 56,57%. The preposition UNDER was 48,39% which was higher than AT. The lowest percentage was preposition AT which was 47,94%.. The students’ average score was 54,60. Therefore the students’ level of ability was categorized as poor. This means that the students failed in using prepositions of place in speaking performance.</p>

The aim of this research was to investigate the forms and the differences of code mixing by English Study Program students. The subject were four enrollments, they were 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th semester students. The object of this researcher was English Study Program student’s status on Facebook. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The instruments of this research were note and checklist. Technique of this research was documentation. The result of this research shows the English Study Program students used forms of code mixing such as; the insertion of word, the insertion of phrase, the insertion of hybrid, the insertion of word reduplication, the insertion of idiom, and the insertion of clause. Furthermore, there were the differences of using of code mixing by English Study Program students in each semester

This study aims to reveal the level of student interest in technical education building of the FT UNJ the teaching profession, the study was conducted starting from March until July, 2016. The study was conducted in Building Engineering Study Program, this research uses descriptive qualitative method, namely data collection techniques by spreading questionnaires and interviews as the reinforcement of the answers to the questionnaire. The results of this study are students of Technical Education Building has a high interest in the teaching profession, they considered that the teaching profession is a noble job, and for that assessment increases the pleasure of students in teaching, and all it's the result that students PTB FT UNJ have high interest in the teaching profession
