<p align="center"><span lang="EN-US">This study aims to study whether there was interest interested in learning explanatory text writing students. This type of research is quantitative with a 2x2 <em>factorial design</em>. Students are grouped into two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class in this study was in class XI IPA 1, while the control class was in XI IPA 3. The instruments used to collect data were reading interest questionnaires and performance tests for explanatory text writing skills. The results of this study are the following two things. First, explanatory text writing skills of students who have high reading interest in the experimental class are better than students who have high reading interest in the control class. Second, explanatory text writing skills of students who have low reading interest in the experimental class are better than students who have low reading interest in the control class.</span></p>

This research was conducted to explain the effect of the learning model CIRC and reading interest on the results of the descriptive essay writing skills of class X SMA Negeri 1 Bangkinang. This type of research is a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental method and a 2x2 factorial experimental design. The population of this study was students of class X SMA Negeri 1 Bangkinang. Sampling was done by purposive sampling with a sample size of 60 students. Data collection was carried out using two instruments, namely questionnaires and performance tests. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that four things are as follows. First, the skills of writing essays of descriptions of students taught using the learning model CIRC are better than those taught by conventional learning models of class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Bangkinang. Second, the writing skills of students who have high reading interest who are taught using the learning model CIRC are higher than students who have high reading interest who are taught using the conventional learning model of class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Bangkinang. Third, the writing skills of students who have low reading interest who are taught using the learning model CIRC are higher than students who have low reading interest who are taught using the conventional learning model of class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Bangkinang. Fourth, there is no interaction between reading interest and learning models in influencing the writing skills of descriptive essays of class X SMA Negeri 1 Bangkinang.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is three. First, describe the listening skills of class VIII interview at SMP Negeri 23 Padang. Second, describing the news text writing skills of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 23 Padang. Third, describe the correlation of listening skills to interviews with news text writing skills of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 23 Padang. This type of research is a quantitative descriptive method. The design used in this study is correlational design. The population of this study was Class VIII of SMP Negeri 23 Padang. The sample in this study was determined by proportional random sampling of 25% of the population, namely 51 students. The research data were test scores on interview listening skills and news text writing skills test scores. The research instrument was an objective test to measure interview listening skills and performance tests to measure news text writing skills. The results of this study are three. First, the writing text skills of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 23 Padang are in more than enough qualifications. Secondly, listening to interview skills is more than adequate. Third, listening skills interviewed were correlated at 7,41 with news text writing skills of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 23 Padang.                Kata Kunci: Korelasi, Keterampilan Menyimak Wawancara, Keterampilan Menulis Teks Berita

This study aims to explain the following. First, the relationship of reading interest, news writing skill of grade VIII students SMP Negeri 24 Padang. Secondly, the relationship between learning motivation with news writing skills of grade VIII students. Third, the relationship between reading interest and learning motivation with news writing skills of grade VIII students. The population was grade VIII students. Samples are 40 students grade VIII students SMP Negeri 24 Padang performed using proportional random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and performance tests. Questionnaire was used to see interest in reading and students' motivation, while performance tests conducted to determine the outcome of news riting skills of students. Analysis and discussion of the data is done in accordance with the concept of descriptive correlational study. Based on the research conducted can be summarized as the follows. First, there is a significant correlation between reading interest, the news writing skills of grade VIII students SMP Negeri 24 Padang. Secondly, there is a significant relationship between learning motivation and news writing skill of grade VIII students. Third, there is a significant relationship between interest in reading and learning motivation together with news writing skills students.

ABSTRACT There are three aims of this study. First, describe the skills of reading comprehention of VII grade students at SMP Negeri 33 Padang. Second, describe the writing skills of the report observation text of VII grade students at SMP Negeri 33 Padang. Third, describe the correlation of reading comprehention with the writing skills of the report observation text of VII grade students at SMP Negeri 33 Padang. The  type of this research is quantitative in terms of descriptive methods. The design used in this study is correlational design. The population of this study was the seventh grade students of the SMP Negeri 33 Padang which was registered in the 2018/2019 school year, it was 192 students. The sample in this study was determined by proportional random sampling of 20% of the population, namely 36 students. The research data is in the form of scores on the skills test results of reading comprehention and scores on the results of the test writing skills of the report observation text. The instrument of this study is an objective test to measure reading comprehention skills and performance tests to measure report observation text writing skills. The results of this study are three. First, the skills to write report observation texts of  VII grade students of the SMP Negeri 33 Padang is in accordance with the Good qualifications (B) with an averange value 82,99. Second, the skill of reading comprehention of VII grade students of the SMP Negeri 33 Padang in accordance with Good qualifications (B) with an averange value 81,42. Third, there is a significant correlation betwen reading comprehention skills and report observation text writing skills of VIII grade students of the SMP Negeri 7 Padang on n-1 freedom degrees and 95% significant level. H0 is reject and H1is accepted because the tcount is greater than ttable (13,59 > 2,68).  Kata Kunci: Korelasi, Keterampilan Membaca Pemahaman, Keterampilan Menulis Teks Laporan Hasil Observasi.

This research aims to describe the influences of TPS model and reading interest of class VIII student of SMP Negeri 31 Padang about their skills of writing explanatory text. This research type is quantitative research with 2x2 factorial experiment design. The population of this research is all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 31 Padan. The data collects by using two methods. The analysis and discussion of the data apply descriptive-analysis method in accordance with the concept of experimental research. Based on the research the writer concludes that from explanatory text writing, the students who have high reading interest and low reading interest whom applies TPS model have higher reading interest than the students that using conventional learning methods. Furthermore, there is no interaction between TPS model with reading interest in influencing the learning outcomes of the students' in explanatory text writing skills.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is three. First, describe comprehension reading skills. Second, describe explanatory text writing skills. Third, describe the correlation of reading comprehension skills with explanatory text writing skills of class XI students of SMA Adabiah Padang. This type of research is quantitative with descriptive method. The design of this study is correlational design. The study population was registered in 2018/2019, which is 287 students. The research sample was proportional random sampling of 20% of the population of 57 students. The research data is in the form of scores on the results of comprehension reading skills tests and scores on the results of explanatory text writing skills. The instrument of this study was an objective test to measure comprehension reading skills and performance tests to measure writing skills. The results of this study are three. First, reading comprehension skills of class XI students of SMA Adabiah Padang are of good qualification (B). Second, explanatory text writing skills of class XI students of SMA Adabiah Padang are of good qualification (B). Third, there is a correlation of reading comprehension skills with explanatory text writing skills with n-1 freedom degrees at the 95% confidence level. The value of tcount (38.54) is greater than t table (1.66) that is tcount> ttable (38.54> 1.68) thus H0 is rejected and H1. Based on the results of these studies it was concluded that reading comprehension skills correlated with explanatory text writing skills.  Kata Kunci: Korelasi, Keterampilan Membaca Pemahaman, Keterampilan Menulis Teks Eksplanasi.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research there are three. First, describing news text writing skills. Second, describe the skills of listening to news texts. Third, describe the correlation of listening to news text skills with news text writing skills. This type of research is quantitative with descriptive method. The design of this research is correlational. The population in this research were all eighth grade students of class VIII SMP Negeri 34 of Padang who were enrolled in the 2018/2019 school year, namely 223 student. There are two variable in this research, namely the dependent variable (Y) the ability to write news text and the independent variable (X) the skill of listening to news text. The data in this study were scores on the skills of writing news texts and skills score listening to news texts. The instrument used is a test, which is an objective test for listening to news text skills and performance tests for news text writing skills. The results of this research are three. First, news text writing skills of class VIII SMP Negeri 34 of Padang are in good qualification (80,75). Second, listening to the news text skills of clas VIII SMP Negeri 34 of Padang are in good qualification (77,57). Third, listening to news text skill correlates with news text writing skills. Based on this , it can be conclude that to improve writing skills, listening skills must be improved.  Kata kunci : Korelasi, Menyimak, Menulis, dan Teks Berita

ABSTRACT This study has three objectives as follows. First, it describes the level of vocabulary mastery of class X students of SMK Negeri 2 Padang. Second, describe the level of exposition text writing skills of class X students of SMK Negeri 2 Padang. Third, describe the correlation of vocabulary mastery with text writing skills of exposition students of class X SMK Negeri 2 Padang. This type of research is quantitative with descriptive methods. The design of this study is correlational. This study consisted of two variables, namely vocabulary mastery of class X vocational high school students 2 Padang and writing exposition text skills of class X students of vocational high school 2 Padang. The data of this study are the scores on the vocabulary mastery test results and the scores on the exposition text writing skills test results. Data is obtained through two types of tests, namely objective tests to measure vocabulary mastery and performance tests to measure exposition text writing skills. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion, three things are concluded as follows. First, the vocabulary mastery of grade X students of SMK Negeri 2 Padang is in a qualification More Than Enough (72.36). Second, the exposition writing skills of the X grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Padang are in Good qualification (78.68). Third, the mastery of vocabulary correlates with the writing skills of exposition text students of class X SMK Negeri 2 Padang. First, the skills to write news texts of  VIII grade students of the SMP Negeri 7 Padang is in accordance with the Good qualifications (B) with an averange value 81,25. Second, the skill of reading comprehention to the news text of VIII grade students of the SMP Negeri 7 Padang in accordance with Good qualifications (B) with an averange value 81,37. Third, there is a significant correlation betwen reading comprehention skills and news text writing skills of VIII grade students of the SMP Negeri 7 Padang on n-1 freedom degrees and 95% significant level. ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is three. First, describe the contribution of reading interest to the writing text description skills of class VII students of  SMP Negeri 7 Padang. Second, describe the contribution of learning motivation to the writing text description skills of class VII students of SMP Negeri 7 Padang. Third, describe the contribution of reading interest and learning motivation together towards writing text description skills of class VII students of SMP Negeri 7  Padang. The  type of this research is quantitative with descriptive methods. The design used in this research is correlational design. The population of this research was the seventh grade students of the SMP Negeri 7 Padang who were enrolled in the 2018/2019 school year, which was 251 students. The sample in this research was determined by simple random sampling using the Slovin formula from the population, which is 40 students. The data of this  research were scores on the results of filling in the reading interest questionnaire, the scores on the results of filling in the learning motivation questionnaire, and scores on the results of the test writing skills of the description text. The instrument of this research was a questionnaire to measure reading interest and student learning motivation and performance tests to measure description text writing skills. The results of this research are three. First, there is a contribution of reading interest towards the writing text description skills of 26,13%. Second, there is a contribution of learning motivation to the writing text description skills of 3,2%. Third, reading interest and learning motivation contribute to the writing text description skills of 30,25%.  Kata Kunci: Kontribusi, Minat Baca, Motivasi Belajar, Keterampilan Menulis Teks Deskripsi.
