ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is three. First, describe the contribution of reading interest to the writing text description skills of class VII students of  SMP Negeri 7 Padang. Second, describe the contribution of learning motivation to the writing text description skills of class VII students of SMP Negeri 7 Padang. Third, describe the contribution of reading interest and learning motivation together towards writing text description skills of class VII students of SMP Negeri 7  Padang. The  type of this research is quantitative with descriptive methods. The design used in this research is correlational design. The population of this research was the seventh grade students of the SMP Negeri 7 Padang who were enrolled in the 2018/2019 school year, which was 251 students. The sample in this research was determined by simple random sampling using the Slovin formula from the population, which is 40 students. The data of this  research were scores on the results of filling in the reading interest questionnaire, the scores on the results of filling in the learning motivation questionnaire, and scores on the results of the test writing skills of the description text. The instrument of this research was a questionnaire to measure reading interest and student learning motivation and performance tests to measure description text writing skills. The results of this research are three. First, there is a contribution of reading interest towards the writing text description skills of 26,13%. Second, there is a contribution of learning motivation to the writing text description skills of 3,2%. Third, reading interest and learning motivation contribute to the writing text description skills of 30,25%.  Kata Kunci: Kontribusi, Minat Baca, Motivasi Belajar, Keterampilan Menulis Teks Deskripsi.

ABSTRACT There are three aims of this study. First, describe the skills of reading comprehention of VII grade students at SMP Negeri 33 Padang. Second, describe the writing skills of the report observation text of VII grade students at SMP Negeri 33 Padang. Third, describe the correlation of reading comprehention with the writing skills of the report observation text of VII grade students at SMP Negeri 33 Padang. The  type of this research is quantitative in terms of descriptive methods. The design used in this study is correlational design. The population of this study was the seventh grade students of the SMP Negeri 33 Padang which was registered in the 2018/2019 school year, it was 192 students. The sample in this study was determined by proportional random sampling of 20% of the population, namely 36 students. The research data is in the form of scores on the skills test results of reading comprehention and scores on the results of the test writing skills of the report observation text. The instrument of this study is an objective test to measure reading comprehention skills and performance tests to measure report observation text writing skills. The results of this study are three. First, the skills to write report observation texts of  VII grade students of the SMP Negeri 33 Padang is in accordance with the Good qualifications (B) with an averange value 82,99. Second, the skill of reading comprehention of VII grade students of the SMP Negeri 33 Padang in accordance with Good qualifications (B) with an averange value 81,42. Third, there is a significant correlation betwen reading comprehention skills and report observation text writing skills of VIII grade students of the SMP Negeri 7 Padang on n-1 freedom degrees and 95% significant level. H0 is reject and H1is accepted because the tcount is greater than ttable (13,59 > 2,68).  Kata Kunci: Korelasi, Keterampilan Membaca Pemahaman, Keterampilan Menulis Teks Laporan Hasil Observasi.

The instrument of this study is an objective test to measure news reading comprehention skills and performance tests to measure news text writing skills. The results of this study are three. First, the skills to write news texts of  VIII grade students of the SMP Negeri 7 Padang is in accordance with the Good qualifications (B) with an averange value 81,25. Second, the skill of reading comprehention to the news text of VIII grade students of the SMP Negeri 7 Padang in accordance with Good qualifications (B) with an averange value 81,37. Third, there is a significant correlation betwen reading comprehention skills and news text writing skills of VIII grade students of the SMP Negeri 7 Padang on n-1 freedom degrees and 95% significant level. ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was categorized into three. First, to describe the effective sentence mastery of the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang. Second, to describe the writing skills of a exposition of the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang. Third, to describe the contribution of the effective sentence mastery into the writing skills of a exposition text made by the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang. The design of this research was quantitative with a descriptive method. Then, this study also was a correlational design. The population of this study was the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang for about 498 students. The sample of this study was taken by using a proportional random sampling technique (15%), which was 70 students. The data of this study were the results of effective sentence mastery and the results of the writing skill of a exposition text. The instrument of this study was an objective test to measure effective sentence mastery and performance tests to measure expositon text. There were several results of this study. First, the effective sentence mastery of the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang was in Good qualifications (B). Second, the writing skills of a exposition of the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang was in a Good qualification (B). Third, describe the effective sentence mastery contributed 82,00% to the exposition text writing skills of the first year students of SMK Negeri 2 Padang. Kata Kunci: kontribusi, penguasaan kalimat efektif,  keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi

Secondly, the relationship between learning motivation with news writing skills of grade VIII students. Third, the relationship between reading interest and learning motivation with news writing skills of grade VIII students. The population was grade VIII students. Samples are 40 students grade VIII students SMP Negeri 24 Padang performed using proportional random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and performance tests. Questionnaire was used to see interest in reading and students' motivation, while performance tests conducted to determine the outcome of news riting skills of students. Analysis and discussion of the data is done in accordance with the concept of descriptive correlational study. Based on the research conducted can be summarized as the follows. First, there is a significant correlation between reading interest, the news writing skills of grade VIII students SMP Negeri 24 Padang. Secondly, there is a significant relationship between learning motivation and news writing skill of grade VIII students. Third, there is a significant relationship between interest in reading and learning motivation together with news writing skills students.

Sampel sebanyak 40 siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 24 Padang dilakukan dengan teknik proportional random sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan tes kinerja. Kuesioner tersebut digunakan untuk melihat minat membaca dan motivasi siswa, sedangkan tes kinerja dilakukan untuk mengetahui hasil keterampilan menulis berita siswa. Analisis dan pembahasan data dilakukan sesuai dengan konsep deskriptif korelasional. Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan dapat diringkas sebagai berikut. Pertama, ada hubungan yang signifikan antara minat membaca, keterampilan menulis berita siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 24 Padang. Kedua, ada hubungan yang signifikan antara motivasi belajar dan keterampilan menulis berita siswa kelas VIII. Ketiga, ada hubungan yang signifikan antara minat baca dan motivasi belajar bersama dengan kemampuan menulis berita siswa.Kata kunci: membaca, motivasi belajar, keterampilan menulis berita

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is three. First, to describe the contribution of reading habits to the writing text exposition skills of class VIII students of SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP. Second, to describe the contribution of learning motivation to the writing exposition text students of class VIII of SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP. Third, describe the contribution of reading habits and learning motivation to the writing skills of exposition students of VIII grade SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP. This type of research is quantitative research using descriptive methods and correlational designs. The population in this study were students of class VIII of the SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP 2018/2019 academic year totaling 167 people. The sample in this study was determined by proportional random sampling, 25% of the population, namely 43 students. The data of this study were scores on the results of the reading habits questionnaire, scores on the results of the questionnaire of learning motivation, and the results of the test of writing the text of the esposition. The instruments used in this study were reading habits questionnaire, learning motivation questionnaire, and performance tests to measure exposition text writing skills. There are three research results in this study. First, reading habit significantly contributes to the writing skills of exposition text students of class VIII of SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP by 15.21%. Secondly, motivation to learn significantly contributed to the writing skills of exposition students of VIII grade at SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP by 30.25%. Third, reading habits and learning motivation together contribute to the writing skills of exposition text students of class VIII of SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP by 35.35%. Kata kunci: Kontribusi, Kebiasaan Membaca, Motivasi Belajar, Keterampilan Menulis Teks Eksposisi

ABSTRACT This article reveals the comparison of writing description text skills with fantasy stories of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Padang. The objectives of the study are four. First, it describes students' writing text description skills. Second, describe the writing skills of students' fantasy text. Third, analyze the comparison of writing description text skills with students' fantasy stories. Fourth, analyze the factors that cause differences in writing description text skills with fantasy stories. The design of this study is comparative. The study population was students of class VII SMP 7 Padang who registered in the 2019/2020 school year as many as 255 students. The research sample of 48 students, determined through simple random sampling technique (20% of the population). The research data were the score of writing skills as well as the results of interviews with students about the skills of writing description texts and fantasy stories. Data obtained through performance tests and interviews. There are four research results. First, the students' writing description text skills are more than adequate (LdC) qualifications with an average of 75.26. Second, the students' ability to write fantasy text is in good qualifications (B) with an average of 80.86. Third, there are differences in writing description text skills with students' fantasy stories. Fourth, there are four factors that cause differences in the two writing skills of the text, namely elements of facts and opinions, the use of a variety of standard and non-standard languages, talents/interests, and educators in the teaching and learning process.Kata kunci: Keterampilan, Teks Deskripsi, Teks Cerita Fantasi, Menulis, Komparasi

This research was conducted to explain the effect of the learning model CIRC and reading interest on the results of the descriptive essay writing skills of class X SMA Negeri 1 Bangkinang. This type of research is a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental method and a 2x2 factorial experimental design. The population of this study was students of class X SMA Negeri 1 Bangkinang. Sampling was done by purposive sampling with a sample size of 60 students. Data collection was carried out using two instruments, namely questionnaires and performance tests. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that four things are as follows. First, the skills of writing essays of descriptions of students taught using the learning model CIRC are better than those taught by conventional learning models of class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Bangkinang. Second, the writing skills of students who have high reading interest who are taught using the learning model CIRC are higher than students who have high reading interest who are taught using the conventional learning model of class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Bangkinang. Third, the writing skills of students who have low reading interest who are taught using the learning model CIRC are higher than students who have low reading interest who are taught using the conventional learning model of class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Bangkinang. Fourth, there is no interaction between reading interest and learning models in influencing the writing skills of descriptive essays of class X SMA Negeri 1 Bangkinang.

Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh motivasi belajar siswa dan pemanfaatan fasilitas belajar siswa terhadap prestasi belajar siswa kelas XI IPS di SMA Negeri 7 Balikpapan. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPS di SMA Negeri 7 Balikpapan yang berjumlah 126 siswa dan dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 96 siswa yang dipilih secara simple random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan, wawancara, observasi, kuesioner, dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian (1) motivasi belajar siswa memiliki nilai 4,088 > 1,986 artinya variabel motivasi belajar siswa memiliki pengaruh terhadap prestasi belajar siswa kelas XI IPS di SMA Negeri 7 Balikpapan sebesar 40,88%. (2) pemanfaatan fasilitas belajar memiliki nilai 2,543 > 1,986 artinya variabel pemanfaatan fasilitas belajar memiliki pengaruh terhadap prestasi belajar siswa kelas XI IPS di SMA Negeri 7 Balikpapan sebesar 25,43%. (3) Terdapat pengaruh secara bersama-sama antara variabel motivasi belajar dan pemanfaatan fasilitas belajar terhadap prestasi belajar siswa kelas XI IPS di SMA Negeri 7 Balikpapan tahun ajaran 2018/2019, dengan nilai 9,957 > 3,09. Kata kunci: Motivasi Belajar, Pemanfaatan Fasilitas Belajar, dan Prestasi Belajar. ABSTRACT This research is a type of quantitative research that aims to determine the effect of student learning motivation and utilization of student learning facilities on student achievement in class XI IPS in SMA Negeri 7 Balikpapan. The population in this study were students of class XI IPS in SMA Negeri 7 Balikpapan, totaling 126 students and with a total sample of 96 students selected by simple random sampling. Data collection techniques in this study using, interviews, observations, questionnaires, and documentation. Based on the results of the study (1) student motivation has a value of t count 4.088> t table 1.986 means that the variable of student motivation has an influence on student achievement in class XI IPS in SMA Negeri 7 Balikpapan by 40.88%. (2) the utilization of learning facilities has a value of t count 2.543> t table 1.986 meaning that the variable utilization of learning facilities has an influence on student achievement in class XI IPS in SMA Negeri 7 Balikpapan by 25.43%. (3) There is a joint effect between the variables of learning motivation and the use of learning facilities on the learning achievement of students of class XI IPS in SMA Negeri 7 Balikpapan in the academic year 2018/2019, with a value of F count 9,957> F table 3.09 . <p align="center"><span lang="EN-US">This study aims to study whether there was interest interested in learning explanatory text writing students. This type of research is quantitative with a 2x2 <em>factorial design</em>. Students are grouped into two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class in this study was in class XI IPA 1, while the control class was in XI IPA 3. The instruments used to collect data were reading interest questionnaires and performance tests for explanatory text writing skills. The results of this study are the following two things. First, explanatory text writing skills of students who have high reading interest in the experimental class are better than students who have high reading interest in the control class. Second, explanatory text writing skills of students who have low reading interest in the experimental class are better than students who have low reading interest in the control class.</span></p>
