This research aims to describe the influences of TPS model and reading interest of class VIII student of SMP Negeri 31 Padang about their skills of writing explanatory text. This research type is quantitative research with 2x2 factorial experiment design. The population of this research is all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 31 Padan. The data collects by using two methods. The analysis and discussion of the data apply descriptive-analysis method in accordance with the concept of experimental research. Based on the research the writer concludes that from explanatory text writing, the students who have high reading interest and low reading interest whom applies TPS model have higher reading interest than the students that using conventional learning methods. Furthermore, there is no interaction between TPS model with reading interest in influencing the learning outcomes of the students' in explanatory text writing skills.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is three. First, describe the reading skills of explanatory text understanding of class VIII Batusangkar 2 Middle School. Second, describe the explanatory text writing skills of class VIII Batusangkar 2 Middle School. Third, describing reading correlation understanding explanatory text with explanatory text writing skills of class VIII Batusangkar 2 Middle School. This article was written to describe reading skills in understanding explanatory texts with explanatory text writing skills of class VIII students of SMP N 2 Batusangkar. This type of research is quantitative research using descriptive methods. The research design used is correlational. The population in this study was the eighth grade students of SMPN 2 Batusangkar who were enrolled in the 2017/2018 academic year totaling 245 students. Samples were taken using proportional random sampling. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the correlation between reading skills comprehension of explanatory texts and explanatory text writing skills of class VIII Batusangkar 2 Junior High School with 95% evidence with n-1 degrees of freedom; t-count> t-table (5.55)> (1.68). Therefore, reading skills understanding explanatory texts correlate with explanatory text writing skills. Kata Kunci: Korelasi, Keterampilan Membaca Pemahaman Teks Eksplanasi, Keterampilan Menulis                 Teks Eksplanasi

This research is motivated by the problem of students not being skilled in writing explanatory text. This study aims to describe the Comparison of Think Talk Write (TTW) Learning with Scramble Explanatory Text Skills of Class XI Students of SMA N I Gunung Tuleh. This type of quantitative research with experimental. The research sample was 50 students of class XI SMAN I Gunung Tuleh consisting of 24 students/experiment I and 26 students/experiment II. The data of this study were the scores of explanatory text writing skills using the Think Talk Write (TTW) Scramble model of class XI students of SMA N I GunungTuleh. The risearch results can be sumarized as follows. First, the explanatory text writing skills of class XI SMA N I Gunung Tuleh with the Think Talk Write (TTW) model obtained an average of 63.33 in the range of 56-65% with sufficient qualifications (C). Second, the students' explanatory text writing skills ofclass XI SMA N I Gunung Tuleh with the Scramble model obtained an average of 70.76 in the range with the qualification More than Enough (LdC). Third, based on the t-test of the hypothesis tcount>ttable (2.33> 1.67). So it can be concluded that the use of the Scramble model is better used to improve the explanatory text writing skills of class XI students of SMA N I Gunung Tuleh. Third, based results of the t-test there is a comparison of the use (TTW) with the Scramble model on the explanatory text writing skills of class XI SMA N I Gunung Tuleh because tcount>ttable (2.33>1.67). So, it can be concluded that the use of the Scramble model is better used to improve the explanatory text writing skills of class XI SMA N I Gunung Tuleh.

<p align="center"><span lang="EN-US">This study aims to study whether there was interest interested in learning explanatory text writing students. This type of research is quantitative with a 2x2 <em>factorial design</em>. Students are grouped into two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class in this study was in class XI IPA 1, while the control class was in XI IPA 3. The instruments used to collect data were reading interest questionnaires and performance tests for explanatory text writing skills. The results of this study are the following two things. First, explanatory text writing skills of students who have high reading interest in the experimental class are better than students who have high reading interest in the control class. Second, explanatory text writing skills of students who have low reading interest in the experimental class are better than students who have low reading interest in the control class.</span></p>

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to describe the following matters. First, it describes the mastery of the vocabulary in the environmental field of class XI students of SMK Negeri 2 Padang. Second, describing the explanatory writing skills of the eleventh grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Padang. Third, explaining the correlation between the mastery of environmental vocabulary and the writing skills of explanatory text for grade XI students of SMK Negeri 2 Padang. This type of research is quantitative research with descriptive methods. Based on the results of the study, the following three things can be concluded. First, the vocabulary mastery of the environmental field of class XI students of SMK Negeri 2 Padang is in good qualifications (77.85). Second, the explanatory text writing skills in class XI students of SMK Negeri 2 Padang are in good qualifications (77.93). Third, there is a significant correlation between vocabulary mastery in the field of environment and writing skills in explanatory text for class XI students of SMK Negeri 2 Padang on the degree of freedom n-1 and a significant level of 95% so that it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted because the test results prove that tcount is greater ttable 4.93> 1.68. Kata Kunci:  Korelasi, Kosakata Bidang Lingkungan Hidup, Menulis Teks                     Eksplanasi

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is as follows. First, describe reading skills in understanding the exposition text of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 28 Padang. Second, describe the writing skills of exposition text of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 28 Padang. Third, analyze the correlation of reading skills understanding exposition text and exposition text writing skills of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 28 Padang. This type of research is quantitative research with descriptive methods. Research design is correlational research. The sample of this study amounted to 40 people. The sampling technique in this study was simple random sampling. The instruments used in this study are objective tests for reading skills in understanding exposition text and performance tests for text writing skills exposition. Data were analyzed by percentage formula, formula for calculating average, normality test, homogeneity test, and t-test. The results of this study are the following three things. First, the reading skills of understanding the exposition text of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 28 Padang were of good quality, with an average score of 77.64. Secondly, the writing skills of exposition text of grade VIII students of Padang Public Middle School 28 are more than qualified, with an average value of 73.38 below the KKM (75). Third, there is a positive and significant relationship between reading skills understanding exposition text and exposition text writing skills of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 28 Padang at a significant level of 0.05 and degrees of freedom (dk) = n-1 because t count> ttable is 6.70> 1, 68.  Kata Kunci: Korelasi, Keterampilan Membaca Pemahaman Teks Eksposisi,                        Keterampilan Menulis Teks Eksposisi

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is as follows. First, it describes the level of explanatory text writing skills of grade XI students of SMK Negeri 9 Padang before using the problem based learning model assisted by audiovisual media. Secondly, it describes the level of explanatory text writing skills of grade XI students of SMK Negeri 9 Padang after using a problem based learning model assisted by audiovisual media. Third, analyze the influence of the use of problem based learning models assisted by audiovisual media on the ability to wite explanatory text for grade XI students of SMK Negeri 9 Padang. This type of research is quantitative research with experiment methods (quasi experiment). The populasi in this study amounted to 174 students and the sample of this study was class XI PH 1 and 2 totaling 32 students. Based on the results of the study, there are three things below. First, the explanatory text writing skills before using the problem based learning model assisted by audiovisual media are of sufficient qualifications (60,08). Second, the explanatory text writing skills after using the problem based learning model assisted by audiovisua media are in good qualifications (78,08). Third, there is a significant influence in the use of problem based learning model assisted by audiovisual media based on the results of the t-test that the working hypothesis (H1) is accepted at a significant level of 95% and dk=(n-1) because tcount>ttable (4,98>1,70) Kata Kunci: Pengaruh, Model Problem Based Learning Berbantuan                 Media Audiovisual, Keterampilan Menulis Teks Eksplanasi

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this research was to describe things as follows. First, describes the skill level of writing the text explanatory grade VIII SMPN 20 Padang before using the the Discovery Learning model. Second, decsribes the skill level of writing the text explanatory grade VIII SMPN 20 Padang after using the Discovery Learning model. Third, analyzing the influence of use Discovery Learning model ti the skill level of the writing text explanatory grade VIII SMPN 20 Padang. This research used quantitative research which experimental method. This research draft is One Group Pretest and Posttest Design. Based on the reslt of the study, the following three things concluded. First, the explanatory text writing skills before using the Discovery Learning model of grade VIII SMPN 20 Padang are in qualification more than enough (LdC) with an average of 68,55. Second, the explanatory text writing skills after using the Discovery Learning model of eighth grade students of SMPN 20 Padang are in good qualifications (B) with an average of 79,00. Third, besed on t-test, the alternative hypothesis (H1) is aceepted at the 95% significant level and the degree of freedom (dk)= (n1+n2)-2 because tcount>ttable, which is 4,13>1,70.      Kata Kunci: Pengaruh, Model Discovery Learning, Keterampilan  Menulis, Teks Eksplanasi

The issue  in this article discusses about the understanding meaningcontext of poetry that has been not  be studied from structural linguistics  since the early 20th century. The purpose of this research is  studying and analyzing contemporary poetry WS Rendra using the function of Leech language and  enriching class VIII KD 3.7 material. and 4.7 on the building blocks of poetry text and deducing the meaning of the poetry text. Throughthe qualitative descriptive analysis method, WS Rendra's poetry was described by analyzing the lines in the verse of his poetry. The function of Leech language can be studied and analyzed in poetry literature, especially contemporary poetry.  Five of the  language functions, there is only one function that cannot be examined from the poem. It is the phatic function because the poem in entitled 'Kecoa Pembagunan' contains social criticism which used the words of satire and ridicule in every  lines of the sentences. The function of the Leech language can be implemented in teaching because the results of the analysis can be integrated with the building blocks of poetry. As my suggestion,  the teachers should expand the study of language functions from several experts to improve and expand literary material, especially poetry.Permasalahan yang dibahas dalam artikel ini tentang adanya pemahaman makna  pada konteks puisi  yang belum bisa dikaji dari linguistik struktural yang sudah ada sejak awal abad 20. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengkaji dan menganalisis puisi kontemporer WS Rendra dengan mengunakan fungsi bahasa Leech serta memperkaya materi kelas VIII KD 3.7 dan 4.7 pada unsur pembangun teks puisi serta menyimpulkan makna teks puisi. Dengan metode analisis deskriptif kualitatif, puisi WS Rendra dideskripsikan maknanya dengan menganalisis baris-baris dalam bait puisinya. Fungsi bahasa Leech dapat dikaji dan dianalisis pada sastra puisi, terutama puisi kontempoer. Dari lima fungsi bahasa hanya satu fungsi yang tidak bisa dikaji dari puisi tersebut, yaitu fungsi fatis. Hal ini dikarenakan puisi yang berjudul ‘Kecoa Pembagunan’ berisi kritik sosial yang menggunakan kata kias sindiran dan ejekan pada baris-baris kalimatnya. Fungsi bahasa Leech dapat diimplementasikan dalam pengajaran karena dari hasil analisis dapat terintegrasi dengan materi unsur-unsur pembangun puisi.  Saran penulis, guru sebaiknyalebih memperluas kajian fungsi bahasa dari beberapa ahli untuk meningkatkan dan memperluas materi sastra terutama puisi.
