Introduction. This paper studies the effects of several dissemination channels in an open access environment by analysing the download data of the OAPEN Library. Method. Download data were obtained containing the number of downloads and the name of the Internet provider. Based on public information, each Internet provider was categorised. The subject and language of each book were determined using metadata from the OAPEN Library. Analysis. Quantitative analysis was done using Excel, while the qualitative analysis was carried out using the statistical package SPSS. Results. Almost three quarters of all downloads come from users who do not use the Website www.oapen.org, but find the books by other means. Qualitative analysis found no evidence that channel use was influenced by user groups or the state of users' Internet infrastructure; nor was any effect on channel use found for either the language or the subjects of the monographs. Conclusions. The results show that most readers are using the "direct download" channel, which occur if the readers use systems other than the OAPEN Library Website. This implies that making the metadata available in the user's systems, the infrastructure used on a daily basis, ensures the best results.

The objective of this research were to know the factors that influence the students’ difficulties in retelling a movie. The subject of this research consists of 14 students at second semester STKIP Insan Madani Airmolek. The method used in this study was Descriptive Analysis Research. The data of this research was gathered through retelling a movie test and giving questionnaire. The techniques of data analysis used quantitative and qualitative analysis. The quantitative analysis was used to count the percentage of student’s score test and students answer the questionnaire. On the other hand, the qualitative analysis used to describe or interpret the result of quantitative analysis result. The researcher obtained the scores of the test result were 43, 57%. It was categorized less. And then the factors that influence students’ difficulties based on indicators of retelling a movie are English movie media, limited educational background to watch English movie and students’ less practice. The factors that influence difficulties from the internal factor was intelligence got 54%, interest got 78% and fatigue got 3%. The most factors that influence is interest. It got 78% of the students felt uninterested to watch the movie and retell it. The factors that influence difficulties from the external factors were family (56%), school (24%), society (57%). Society factors most influences the students’ difficulties in retelling a movie because the students have more interaction with it. The result of the research showed the factors that influence students’ difficulties occurred because of inappropriate media, students’ bad study habit, students’ point of view, laziness, and bad action negative activities inside and outside them.

Anonymous communication (AC) protocols such as the widely used Tor network have been designed to provide anonymity over the Internet to their participating users. While AC protocols have been the subject of several security and anonymity analyses in the last years, there still does not exist a framework for analyzing these complex systems and their different anonymity properties in a unified manner. In this work we present AnoA: a generic framework for defining, analyzing, and quantifying anonymity properties for AC protocols. In addition to quantifying the (additive) advantage of an adversary in an indistinguishability-based definition, AnoA uses a multiplicative factor, inspired from differential privacy. AnoA enables a unified quantitative analysis of well-established anonymity properties, such as sender anonymity, sender unlinkability, and relationship anonymity. AnoA modularly specifies adversarial capabilities by a simple wrapper-construction, called adversary classes. We examine the structure of these adversary classes and identify conditions under which it suffices to establish anonymity guarantees for single messages in order to derive guarantees for arbitrarily many messages. This then leads us to the definition of Plug’n’Play adversary classes (PAC), which are easy-to-use, expressive, and satisfy this condition. We prove that our framework is compatible with the universal composability (UC) framework and show how to apply AnoA to a simplified version of Tor against passive adversaries, leveraging a recent realization proof in the UC framework.

Purpose. The article focuses on the investigation of evaluation and its types in professional (quality press news texts) and non-professional media texts (blog posts) in Russian, German and English. A quantitative and qualitative evaluation analysis is proposed. For quantitative analysis, I propose the method of calculating the evaluative index of media text (the percentage of evaluative means, or evaluatives, to total words number in the text), and for qualitative analysis several types of evaluative contexts are differed and described. Results. The number of evaluation means and the evaluative index is a rather variable indicator, which depends on the length of the text, the subject of the message, the genre and the author's style. In general, blogs demonstrate a higher evaluative index than texts of professional media. The qualitative analysis shows, that in both professional and nonprofessional media texts the means of rational evaluation prevail. This can be explained by the fact, that journalists and bloggers seek for objectivity as well as by the variety of evaluated aspects in this case (object / subject of the action, its characteristics, the act itself, quantitative indicators, etc.). The number of emotional evaluation means is somewhat higher in blogs, where the authors are not bound by the requirements of editorial policy and choose the subject of the message themselves, which is very topical. The results of the analysis demonstrate a preference of emotive evaluatives with negative semantics, which is due to the wish of the journalists to reveal some negative aspects of the life. Conclusion. The study of evaluation in media texts, and especially the description of hidden evaluation mechanisms, seems to be very promising in media linguistics, because of its active usage and development nowadays and because of the need to develop critical thinking of each person who must see evaluative contexts and understand them.

ABSTRACTThis study is an assessment about the uses, attitudes, habits, skills and behavior towards ICT by young students from public high Sonora (Mexico). It also measures the knowledge of young people about the risks, their reaction to them and habits or adopting safety measures in their use of ICT. To prepare the study we used a mixed methodology based on a combination of qualitative and quantitative techniques. Quantitative analysis looked at the implementation of surveys 3,031 students between 12 and 15 years. The qualitative analysis, meanwhile, included 66 in-depth interviews and seven focus groups with students and parents. The study aims to emphasize not only the evidence that account uses, consumption and current skills of young people to the Internet but to explain what might be, in any case, the potential and opportunities that certain screens and smart devices generated in the building interactive relationships and, therefore, its own identity.RESUMENEl presente estudio constituye un diagnóstico a cerca de los usos, actitudes, hábitos, competencias y comporta-mientos frente a las TIC por parte de los jóvenes estudiantes de secundarias públicas en Sonora (México). Contacto principal: [email protected]

The role played by mitigation in academic discourse has been the subject of intense scholarly interest over the last two decades, but interest in the role played by intensifying textual elements expressing evaluation and stance — emphasizers — is a more recent turn. This paper presents a preliminary attempt at capturing the uses of the adverb really across spoken and written academic registers. The adverb really is examined with an eye to how its frequencies, meanings and uses vary across spoken and written academic discourse. The findings will also be interpreted in terms of variation across genres and disciplines. A quantitative analysis of this adverb reveals significant distributional trends across both academic genres and disciplines, and a qualitative analysis of concordance lines confirms that these trends are motivated by genre-specific purposes and disciplinary-specific practices, respectively.

Abstract Needless to say, words originating in English largely influence other languages. As postulated by Plümer [2000, p. 28], since the nineteenth century English has become the main donor language for German and due to the ongoing influx of Anglicisms used in German both in Fachsprache, i.e. German for specific purposes and on a daily basis, lexical interference between the two languages increases. Some linguists oppose the excessive use of words originating in English postulating that as a consequence, German may become a peripheral language, whereas others posit that it indicates openness to world and language development. The study focuses on the application of Anglicisms in German newspapers in February 2016. The corpus encompasses 90 articles in online versions of three newspapers, viz. Die Welt, Der Spiegel and Der Stern, structured into three categories, be it Beauty, Politics, and IT. Every category covered thirty parallel topics, in order to arrive at a succinct yet comprehensive summary of the total ratio of Anglicisms. The article was divided into four main categories, i.e. theoretical framework, quantitative analysis, qualitative analysis, and concluding remarks.

The Internet is an important technology worldwide. People use the Internet for research, communication, shopping, entertainment, etc. In addition to these benefits, the Internet provides access to dangerous or illegal material. Because of this, some content and services may be blocked by governments, Internet Service Providers, organizations, or individuals. This blocking, whether for security or for network efficiency, has significant effects on people’s access to services and information, which may not be considered when implementing restrictions. Although studies have been conducted on Internet blocking in many countries, no one has yet examined what is being blocked in New Zealand. In this thesis, we measured the prevalence of Internet blocking in New Zealand and the reasons leading to a decision to block access to websites or Internet services. Although several different tools existed, they could not be used directly because they either concentrated on a narrow range of services or did not work in an environment where some services they depended upon were blocked. For this reason, we developed our own tool called WCMT based on the issues identified from previous tools. We conducted our study using WCMT in order to identify blocked websites and services in our quantitative analysis, complemented by interviews with key informants in our qualitative analysis.
