Study on entrepreneurial behavior of large cardamom growers in Lamjung District, Nepal was conducted from December 2017 to June 2018 in Marshyangdi Rural Municipality of Lamjung district. The Rural Municipality was selected purposely for the study due to the recent establishment of Cardamom Zone under Prime Minister Agriculture Modernization Project in the Municipality focusing on large cardamom development. Altogether 80 large cardamom growers were selected randomly from 454 large cardamom growers of the study site. Data were collected through household surveys, focus group discussions, key informant interview, personal observation and other secondary sources. Results showed that a greater proportion of large cardamom growers were found to have medium level of innovativeness (45%), decision making ability (51.2%), information seeking ability (48.8%), risk orientation (46.2%), leadership ability (43.8%), achievement motivation (46.2%) and low management orientation (56.3%) which contributed to the overall medium entrepreneurial behavior (47.5%) of large cardamom growers in the study area. About 35 percent of farmers were belonging to the low entrepreneurial behavior and only a few numbers of farmers (17.5%) were under high entrepreneurial behavior category. The high number of farmers with low and medium entrepreneurial behavior and low number of farmers with high entrepreneurial behavior has resulted in poor commercialization of large cardamom in the study area. Educational status, land holding, extension participation, economic motivation, experience in large cardamom farming and area of large cardamom cultivation were found to have significant correlation with the entrepreneurial behavior of large cardamom farmers while age had negative and significant effect. There is still scope to increase the number of large cardamom farmers with high entrepreneur behavior for commercializing large cardamom in the study area but programs should be designed and implemented accordingly.

The disappearance of young men in on-going armed conflict over the last 3 decades in Kashmir has given birth to a new identity to the women. This identity is called half-widows. The term, half-widows, signifies those women whose husbands have disappeared in armed conflict but are not declared dead yet. Men are directly involved in the armed conflicts and are the direct victims of it, but women are the ones who have been going through all the consequences of armed conflict. This article contextualizes the phenomenon of enforced disappearance in Kashmir and its grave consequences on women. Based on the qualitative case-study approach, 15 half-widows were interviewed in 2017 to examine their social, economic and psychological problems. The mass protest to end the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (known as the #EndSARS protest) was a decentralized social movement and series of mass protests against police brutality in Nigeria. The protest started in 2017 as a Twitter campaign using the hash tag #ENDSARS to demand the disbanding of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad. This paper argues that the #EndSARS protest in Nigeria was a microcosmic manifestation of the deeply rooted dissatisfaction of Nigerians with the social, economic and political situation of the country. Data was collected using secondary sources such as internet material, journal, research reports and textbooks, and were analyzed using the expository and analytical method of inquiry, the paper demonstrates that the protest was just the avenue the Nigerian youths got to ventilate their frustration, disappointment and anger with the government. The paper asserts that nepotism, tribalism, insecurity and corruption are the underlying issues that fuelled the protest. Restructuring and resource control, which underline the gross inequality in Nigeria, are other current debates that gave rise to the protest. Following the analysis, the paper concludes that nepotism, tribalism, insecurity and corruption are the bane of Nigeria’s economic, political and social ill.

AbstractPurposeWe are currently in the middle of a global crisis. Covid19 pandemic has suddenly threatened the existence of human life. Till date, as no medicine or vaccine is discovered, the best way to fight against this pandemic is prevention. The impact of different environmental, social, economic and health parameters is unknown and under research. It is important to identify the factors which can weaken the virus, and the nations which are more vulnerable to this virus.Materials and MethodsData of weather, vaccination trends, life expectancy, lung disease, number of infected people in the pre-lockdown and post-lockdown period of highly infected nations are collected. These are extracted from authentic online resources and published reports. Analysis is done to find the possible impact of each parameter on CoVid19.ResultsCoVid19 has no linear correlation with any of the selected parameters, though few parameters have depicted non-linear relationship in the graphs. Further investigations have shown better result for some parameters. A combination of the parameters results in a better correlation with infection rate.ConclusionsThough depending on the study outcome, the impact of CoVid19 in India can be predicted, the required lockdown period cannot be calculated due to data limitation.

Ampa Co’i Ndai is a practiced tradition among Suku Mbojo[1] (Bimanese ethnic) where the resource of bride-payment is from the brides, wholly or partially, but it is named after the groom during the declaration of marriage contract. The tradition is, usually, applicable if the social, economic, and/or educational status of brides are higher than that of grooms. Whereas, the ideal expectation of culture and religious norms position men as superior human beings. Gender analysis observes that the tradition is a compromise of the ideal expectation and the real fact of gender relation. In the gender intersectionality’s view, the tradition shows that the male-female relationship should not only be explained merely based on the sexual differences but should be examined comprehensively along with other social categories such as economic, social and educational status. Gender status should be seen as a cross-cutting issue which is inseparable with multi identities of human being.

This article discusses the resistance of the Murut community in the Rundum War during the administration of the British North Borneo Company (BNBC) from 1909 to 1915. Specifically, this study attempts to analyze the factors of resistance, and the form of resistance used by the Murut community in the Rundum War to oppose foreign colonialism in the Rundum Interior. This study relies heavily on the use of primary sources, especially the BNBC documents such as the British North Borneo Herald (BNBH) newspapers and colonial papers under the Colonial Office (CO) records and the North Borneo Central Archives (NBCA) collection. In addition, secondary sources such as books and articles were also utilised. The paper reveals that the factors of Murut resistance differ according to the perception of the Murut community itself and from the perspective of the colonialists. For the Murut community, the main factor was due to the cultural clash between the Murut community and the BNBC, and they opposed the actions of the BNBC which disrupted their social, economic and political life. For the BNBC, the Murut resistance was seen as an attempt to oppose change and modernization, and to maintain a primitive lifestyle and the absence of law. The form of resistance of the Murut community in the Rundum War has undergone changes from unarmed resistance (1909 to 1914) to a more radical resistance (February-April 1915) by taking up arms to form a Murut nation, free from colonial grasp.
