Not only does the Hoa Binh reservoir play essential roles in water storage for electricity generation and flood regulation, but also it has great potential to aid aquaculture production. Presently, aquaculture production sits at around 9,200 tons/year; however, a recent MARD circular (#16 in 2015) estimated that maximum production would approach 10,000 tons/year in the productive photic zone. This paper supports increased capacity towards a sustainable commodity production model by optimizing production levels and farming practices. To reach this goal, it is necessary to determine water quality parameters using the Relative Water Quality Index (ReWQI) and carrying capacity (CC) analysis. Data was obtained from 30 sites at upstream, midstream, and downstream sections of the reservoir during the 2019 dry and wet seasons. The results from the ReWQI reflected good water quality potential (rated between 92-100) for aquaculture. The total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) levels of 10,794.9 kg/day and 1,965.4 kg/day, respectively, indicate high biological productivity resulting in strong fish growth potential. CC analysis and overall water quality reflect the potential for sustainable and increased productivity to 22,730.4 tons/year, which is an increase in production of over 13,200 tons/year compared to the current period. To reach a higher yield of 40 kg/year/m3 within each cage (5,040 kg/cage/year), the corresponding increase in number needs to be 4,510 cages based on a common cage size of 126 m3 (6x6x3.5 m). In order to reach these future production goals, this work concludes that the local government should begin spatial planning decisions based on appropriate cage allocation and distribution with respect for regular monitoring of water quality and nutrient load capacity of the environment to reach sustainable aquaculture development.

Abstract. The downstream segment of Citarum River flows from Bendung Curug, Karawang Regency and ends at Muara Gembong, Bekasi Regency. The pollution of downstream segment of Citarum River is caused by settlement, agriculture, farm, and industrial activities that dump their waste into river bodies. This causes a decrease in water quality and reduce the carrying capacity of the downstream segment of Citarum River pollutant. The purpose of this research was to analyze the pollutant load capacity (PLC) in downstream segment of Citarum River using QUAL2Kw model. This research was carried out downstream of Citarum River from segments 16 to 20 which were divided into 9 sections with 11 locations monitoring water quality. Sampling was carried out for 3 periods of observation that the sampling is done twice at each location using grab sampling method. Water quality parameters being modeled are BOD, COD, nitrate, and phosphate. The results of the simulation model of PLC for BOD was 14556.67 kg/day-23456.84 kg/day, COD was 24261.12 kg/day-39094.73 kg/day, nitrate was 24261.12 kg/day-39094.73 kg/day, and phosphate was 485.22 kg/day-781.89 kg/day. Overload of BOD was 0%-26%, COD was 61%-68%, phosphate was 78%-7%. Meanwhile, nitrate load in the Citarum River downstream segment doesn’t exceed its pollutant load capacity. Keywords: Pollution Load Capacity, carrying capacity, Citarum River, Qual2Kw, water quality

Statically indeterminate frame, composed of beams and columns, is a widely used structure form in civil engineering. The frame carrying capacity under various actions is related to the absolute stiffness of frame components and relative beam-column line stiffness ratio. The matrix displacement method and programming based on MATLAB were employed in this study to calculate the internal forces and displacements of a 2-bay 2-story frame structure under the action of horizontal loads. The influence of the beam-column line stiffness ratio on the frame load capacity was discussed based on the calculated result. Furthermore some advises were provided about the reasonable beam-column line stiffness ratio for engineering design.

Tarahara Fish Farm includes 37 large ponds as a fish super zone. Physicochemical parameters viz., air and water temperature, pH, DO, BOD, CO2, Cl-, TA and TH of these ponds were studied for two years (Nov. 2008 to Oct. 2010). The air temperature had positive and significant correlation with water temperature (r=0.893, P<0.01) but inverse and significant correlation with DO (r = - 0.669 P<0.05) and TH (r = - 0.673, P<0.05). Both air and water temperature showed a decreasing trend during the winter months of November to January and again September to October in both years. Similarly, positive and significant correlation showed by pH with DO (r =0.660, P<0.05) and BOD (r =0.846, P<0.05); by free CO2 with DO (r=0.854, P<0.01), chloride (r=0.648, P<0.05) and TA (r=0.616, P<0.05); by DO with TA (r =0.715, P<0.01) and chloride (r =0.625, P<0.05) and by TH with TA (r= 0.592, P<0.05) but inverse and significant correlation showed by pH with water temperature (r =-0.671, P<0.05); by free CO2 with BOD (r=-0.627, P<0.05) and by DO with BOD (r = -0.810, P <0.01). The water quality parameters were within suitable range for the fish growth and breeding with small fluctuations in different months during the first and second years. Physico-chemical parameters significantly (P<0.01; 0.05) differed between different months. However, no mass mortality of fish was recorded from this site. So, the area selected as fish super zone is fruitful to meet the expected production level of fishes and fish seeds in peripheral areas.

Supplementation of dried bioflocs for red hybrid tilapia (Oreochromis sp.) was examined during 57 days of feeding trials. Five experimental treatments; T1 (the control; without bioflocs), T2 (4% freeze-dried bioflocs), T3 (16% freeze-dried bioflocs), T4 (4% oven-dried bioflocs), and T5 (16% oven-dried bioflocs) were prepared to examine the water quality, growth performance and body composition of red hybrid tilapia. T2 and T4 treatments resulted in a higher growth rate and survival similar to the control, while T3 and T5 treatments showed the lowest values of growth performance among all treatments. T1 treatment showed the best quality of culture water followed by T2 and T4 treatments, while T3 treatment resulted in poor water quality followed by T5 treatment. Based on these results, the ratios of bioflocs (4% and 16%) had more effect on fish growth and water quality than the drying methods (freeze-drying and oven-drying). The ratio of 4% freeze-dried or oven-dried bioflocs provided higher growth rates and better water quality parameters similar to the control, while the ratio of 16% showed the worst growth performance and water quality in the present study. In addition, body compositions of tilapia fed 4% dried bioflocs showed better nutritional value than tilapia fed 16% dried bioflocs. Protein and energy levels showed an increasing trend with decreasing supplement levels of bioflocs. Moisture content was significantly higher when supplementation of 16% bioflocs was used. Overall, supplementation of 4% freeze-dried or oven-dried bioflocs can be successively included in red hybrid tilapia diets without any effects on growth or body composition and can result in a good quality of culture water for red hybrid tilapia.

Abstract The research to determine the carrying capacity of pollutant loads in the middle to downstream Cisadane River segment started from Jl. Teuku Umar, Tangerang and ends at Muara Tanjung Burung, Tangerang Regency with a research time starting from March – June 2021. Increased land-use change due to human and industrial activities so that population growth and limited residential land make watersheds a target for land conversion. The purpose of this study is to identify sources of pollutants that have the potential to contaminate the Cisadane River in the middle to downstream segments, analyze water quality and pollutant load capacity, the Cisadane River in the middle to downstream segments along 34 km. The method used for identification of pollutant sources is carried out by conducting field surveys, water quality analysis is carried out by SNI and compared with quality standards according to Peraturan Pemerintah No. 22 of 2021, as well as analysis of the Pollutant Load Capacity (PLC) BOD and DO using the QUAL2Kw model. The results of identifying potential pollutant sources in the middle to a downstream segment of the Cisadane River are dominated by settlements, agriculture, industry, and other domestic activities, namely restaurants and stalls. The results of water quality analysis for BOD parameters ranged from 2.51 mg/L - 5.1 mg/L, and DO range from 5.4 mg/L – 7,2 mg/L. BOD parameters from all points 1-2 meet the quality standard class 2 (3 mg/L) & points 4-6 do not meet the quality standard. The DO parameter is still in good condition because the more significant the DO value, the waters are in good condition. The high levels of BOD in the Cisadane River are influenced by domestic waste that enters the river, and the land is dominated by built-up spaces as settlements, schools, hotels and malls. Land use around the river is very influential on the load of pollutants that enter the river. The lowest DTBP of the Cisadane River for BOD is 22497,9 kg/day, and the highest is 33201,6 kg/day. The decrease in the concentration of BOD load must be lowered in the Cisadane River by 29% - 42%.

The government has launched a program to increase the production of catfish by using biofloc ponds. The biofloc ponds can maintain the quality of water biologically to maximize the growth of fish. However, the level of water quality monitoring is generally only divided into good or bad categories so that it cannot represent the condition of fish growth. Therefore, this study aims to get the level of water quality (0–100 %) using the Mamdani fuzzy inference system (FIS) algorithm based on pH, temperature, and dissolved oxygen (DO). The level of water quality was correlated based on catfish growth conditions. The results showed that the range of values of the water quality level for each condition of catfish growth was 100 % for normal-living fish, 83–99 % for stunted fish growth, and < 83% for threatened fish. The FIS algorithm had 89.92 % of accuracy.
