Noteworthy, 2016 has become another crucial landmark in recognizing the remarkable impact of Ukrainian vigorous community, which succeeded in preserving and boosting its heritage values, traditions and language, on all Canada’s walks of life. In this context, this research paper provides an overview of historians, scholars and community members, whereas focusing on a tremendous role that Ukrainians (such as worldly acknowledged Paul Yuzyk, Orest Subtelny, John Sopinka Chrystia Freeland, Sylvia Fedoruk, Edward Michael Stelmach, Myrna Kostash, and newly known Roberta Bondar, Ann Morash, Petro Neborskij, Oleh Lesiuk) play in the Canadian multicultural society. Owing to their social, political and economic integration, Ukrainians have reached a rather high level of culture perception and blending into a mosaic Canadian society. Looking back on a record of Ukrainian Canadians’ achievements, we can witness that by the early 1990’s some of the high-rank positions have been held by the children or grandchildren of humble Ukrainian immigrants, and, moreover, they have earned accomplishments in various domains. To conclude, Ukrainian Canadians proved that by their exemplary service, enthusiasm and commitment to Canada’s common purpose, they could, collectively as a community, work toward a common goal, ensure their views reached and establish their powerful and valuable existence in Canada. Abstract Background This study aimed to assess the level of trust in the COVID-19 risk communication efforts in Nigeria. Methods We conducted a descriptive cross-sectional study among community members aged 15 years and above in Ondo state in October, 2020. Data were collected using an interviewer-administered questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 22. Descriptive statistics were summarized using frequencies. Trust was ranked from “1” implying “Low level of trust” to “7” denoting “High level of trust”. We conducted bivariate Chi-square test on respondents’ level of trust in the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and socio-demographic characteristics. The level of significance was set at p<0.05. Results Among the 691 respondents, 244 (35.3%) were aged 21 to 29 years, and 304 (51.4%) used the NCDC to obtain COVID-19 knowledge. Overall, 205 (41.8%) had high level of trust in the NCDC. Furthermore, 51 (51.5%) individuals aged 30-39 years had high level of trust in the NCDC (ᵡ2=17.455, p= 0.001). Also, 114 (48.5%) persons who lived with children below 18 years had high level of trust in the NCDC (ᵡ2= 8.266, p= 0.004). Conclusion Policy makers should prioritize the involvement of young and educated persons in COVID-19 risk communication strategies.

As the focus of healthcare shifts toward the social determinants of health, more information about health disparities between different ethnic communities is needed. The Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile II (HPLP-II) is an instrument that measures health promotion behavior across various cultural lines. This article describes the translation and validation of the HPLP-II from English to Armenian for the purpose of studying health promotion behavior among the hypertensive and normotensive Armenian American population and addressing health disparities among this community. Translating the HPLP-II required a multistep process to capture cultural linguistic adjustment. First, the researcher, a local bilingual professor, and a professional translation company each created a forward-translation. These three translations were combined by an editor to create one translation with the highest clarity. The researcher then submitted this translation to two bilingual community members for back-translation. A committee composed of the researcher, the community members, and a bilingual healthcare worker reviewed each back-translated item and adjusted those that lost their meanings. Another committee reviewed each item for clarity and consistency. The instrument was then given to five native speakers who were asked to read each question and verbally express what they understood it to be asking. After the researcher made adjustments based on this feedback, the instrument was given to a committee of nine bilingual experts, who reviewed each item and scored it.This multistep, iterative process resulted in an instrument with an item content validity index score of 0.90 (>0.78) and a scale content validity index of 0.96 (>0.90), and Cronbach’s a = 0.936, suggesting a high level of reliability. The HPLP-II can now be used in future studies regarding health promotion behavior among Armenian Americans.

PurposeIn continuation of Soylemez (2021), this study utilized equity theory and investigated how personal factors (personality traits) and community factors (ownership) influence relative generation of brand-oriented and community-oriented content.Design/methodology/approachA study of A/B testing was conducted with 104 online brand community (OBC) participants who had been active in an OBC in the last 30 days.FindingsMembers with a high level of conscientiousness, extroversion and neuroticism generate more brand-oriented content than community-oriented content. Openness to experience, agreeableness and community ownership have been found to have no significant effects.Practical implicationsThis research helps marketing practitioners on whether they should build their own online brand communities. The study also suggests that brands should adjust their community strategies based on the personality traits of community members and expectations from the community.Originality/valueThis is the first study that investigates how personality traits and community ownership influence the generation of different types of user-generated content (UGC).

Purpose This study aims to examine the influence of homophily in an online community and the effect of electronic word of mouth (eWOM) consensus on young consumers’ attitudes. Design/methodology/approach This study implemented an experimental research design using a two (low/high homophily) × two (low/high eWOM consensus) mixed factorial design. This study explores young consumers’ changes in brand attitude after encountering negative eWOM. Findings The results indicate that a high consensus of negative eWOM among online community members leads to significant changes in attitude, while a low consensus of negative eWOM does not produce such an effect. Negative eWOM from either high or low homophilous sources produces significant changes in attitude. There are significant attitude changes when a strong consensus of negative eWOM is received from a source with a high level of homophily. Research limitations/implications Service failures in offline service settings lead to the dissemination of negative eWOM on social media. To handle and prevent social media crises, researchers should understand online crises antecedents relating to information characteristics i.e. eWOM consensus and characteristics of online community members to evaluate the crises impact. Brands should monitor tone and dialogue of online community member on social media to remedy and diminish any damage done to their brand image from negative eWOM. Originality/value This study contributes to the application of social network theory by understanding the role of nodes on negative eWOM effect in social media.

The figure of folly and her tyranny over the human condition are themes that both Erasmus and Louise Labé explore in the sixteenth century, Erasmus in the Praise of Folly and Labé, inspired by Erasmus, in the Débat de Folie et d’Amour. Both works share not only common themes and images, but an emphasis on theatre, both as form and as an important image. Through a comparative analysis of these two works and looking back to Lucian’s Declamatio pro tyrannicida and Erasmus’s response as important sources, it slowly becomes evident that Erasmus and Labé shared a common goal – to highlight the inherent folly of tyranny and to propose models for civic behavior in response to tyranny.

AIDS caused by HIV is a health issue of global concern. In Indonesia, in the first quarter of 2017, the number of HIV cases was 10,376 and AIDS cases were 673. DIY is a tourism city and student city that has a high level of human movement so it is highly likely that behaviors that are at risk of contracting or transmitting HIV and AIDS. DIY has an attraction that makes many people with different socio-economic and demographic backgrounds come to this region. Many tourists from domestic and abroad are interested in the beauty of tourism in DIY. Therefore, collaborative governance among stakeholders is needed in the response to HIV and AIDS. There are eight indicators to see the success of collaborative governance according to DeSeve: Networked Structure, Commitment to a Common Purpose, Trust Among the Participants, Governance, Access to Authority, Distributive Accountability / Responsibility, Information Sharing, Access to Resources. The findings of this study are that cross-sectoral collaboration carried out does not yet have regulations as a guideline in carrying out such collaboration. So that cooperation is only at the stage of mutual involvement in the response to HIV and AIDS, not at the stage of official cooperation that has legality. Because the existence of basic rules is important in collaborative governance as the initial foundation and legitimacy for stakeholders who act.

A community food environment plays an essential role in explaining the healthy life-style patterns of its community members. However, there is a lack of compelling quantitative approaches to evaluate these environments. This study introduces and validates a new tool named the Facility List Coder (FLC), whose purpose is to assess food environments based on data sources and classification algorithms. Using the case of Mataró (Spain), we randomly selected 301 grids areas (100 m2) where we conducted street audits in order to physically identify all the facilities by name, address and type. Then, audit-identified facilities were matched with those automatically-identified and were classified using the FLC in order to determine its quality. Our results suggest that automatically-identified and audit-identified food environments have a high level of agreement. The ICC estimates and their respective 95% confidence intervals for the overall sample, yield the result “excellent” (ICC ≥ 0.9) for the level of reliability of the FLC.
