Proxy server is the intermediary between client and the Internet. The usage of proxy server is one of many means to avoid excessive access to the Internet. Proxy server’s cache will save every web page which has been accessed, so clients can save their bandwidth when they access same web pages repeatedly. Distributed proxy is a collection of connected proxy servers which has shared cache. This research will prove that distributed proxy server can shorten data access time and minimize bandwidth. On this research, we use Squid Proxy Server on Windows 7 as the main tool. Index Terms - distributed proxy, shared cache, Squid

In this paper we are presenting a simple simulation of the Internet World-Wide Web, where one observes the appearance of web pages belonging to different web sites, covering a number of different thematic topics and possessing links to other web pages. The goal of our simulation is to reproduce the form of the observed World-Wide Web and of its growth, using a small number of simple assumptions. In our simulation, existing web pages may generate new ones as follows: First, each web page is equipped with a topic concerning its contents. Second, links between web pages are established according to common topics. Next, new web pages may be randomly generated and subsequently they might be equipped with a topic and be assigned to web sites. By repeated iterations of these rules, our simulation appears to exhibit the observed structure of the World-Wide Web and, in particular, a power law type of growth. In order to visualise the network of web pages, we have followed N. Gilbert's (1997) methodology of scientometric simulation, assuming that web pages can be represented by points in the plane. Furthermore, the simulated graph is found to possess the property of small worlds, as it is the case with a large number of other complex networks.

Web authoring is the process of developing Web pages. The Web development process requires you to use software to create functional pages that will work on the Internet. Adding Web functionality is creating specific components within a Web page that do something. Adding links, rollover graphics, and interactive multimedia items to a Web page creates are examples of enhanced functionality. This chapter demonstrates Web based authoring techniques using Macromedia Dreamweaver. The focus is on adding Web functions to pages generated from Macromedia Fireworks and to overview creating Web pages from scratch using Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver and Fireworks are professional Web applications. Using professional Web software will benefit you tremendously. There are other ways to create Web pages using applications not specifically made to create Web pages. These applications include Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint. The use of Microsoft applications for Web page development is not covered in this chapter. However, I do provide steps on how to use these applications for Web page authoring within the appendix of this text. If you feel that you are more comfortable using the Microsoft applications or the Macromedia applications simply aren’t available to you yet, follow the same process for Web page conceptualization and content creation and use the programs available to you. You should try to get Web page development skills using Macromedia Dreamweaver because it helps you expand your software skills outside of basic office applications. The ability to create a Web page using professional Web development software is important to building a high-end computer skills set. The main objectives of this chapter are to get you involved in some technical processes that you’ll need to create the Web portfolio. Focus will be on guiding you through opening your sliced pages, adding links, using tables, creating pop up windows for content and using layers and timelines for dynamic HTML. The coverage will not try to provide a complete tutorial set for Macromedia Dreamweaver, but will highlight essential techniques. Along the way you will get pieces of hand coded action scripts and JavaScripts. You can decide which pieces you want to use in your own Web portfolio pages. The techniques provided are a concentrated workflow for creating Web pages. Let us begin to explore Web page authoring.

This chapter will address the issues of Uniform Resource Locator (URL) correction techniques in proxy servers. The proxy servers are more and more important in the World Wide Web (WWW), and they provide Web page caches for browsing the Web pages quickly, and also reduce unnecessary network traffic. Traditional proxy servers use the URL to identify their cache, and it is a cache-miss when the request URL is non-existent in its caches. However, for general users, there must be some regularity and scope in browsing the Web. It would be very convenient for users when they do not need to enter the whole long URL, or if they still could see the Web content even though they forgot some part of the URL, especially for those personal favorite Web sites. We will introduce one URL correction mechanism into the personal proxy server to achieve this goal.

The change in the behavior of internet users from using computers or laptops to mobile internet users makes changes in the way the browser and also the web pages display information. Internet users generally want a quick access time when visiting a website page to get the desired information. In the research conducted in the writing of this journal, the researchers wanted to show and explain the several important factors that influence the speed of access from a website page, as well as analyzing based on technical factors. Where the main discussion in this study will focus more on the evaluation of technical factors starting from the programming side (server side programming and client side programming) and also the design of the user interface using web pages using minify CSS along with the use of AJAX technology. The results to be achieved from this study are to identify how much influence the technical factors mentioned above have on the speed of visitor access to a web page, apart from other technical factors such as internet network speed, devices and areas where users can access website page.

Abstrak- Pada saat ini sangat banyak organisasi, baik pendidikan, pemerintahan, maupun perusahaan swasta berusaha membatasi akses para pengguna ke internet dengan alasan bandwidth yang dimiliki mulai terasa lambat ketika para penggunanya mulai banyak yang melakukan browsing ke internet. Mempercepat akses browsing menjadi perhatian utama dengan memanfaatkan teknologi Proxy server. Penggunaan proxy server perlu mempertimbangkan sistem operasi pada server dan tool yang digunakan belum diketahui performansi terbaiknya pada sistem operasi apa. Untuk itu dirasa perlu untuk menganalisis performan Proxy server pada sistem operasi berbeda yaitu Sistem Operasi Linux dengan tools Squid dan Sistem Operasi Windows dengan tool Winroute. Kajian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui perbandingan kecepatan browsing dari komputer pengguna (client). Browser yang digunakan di komputer pengguna adalah Mozilla Firefox. Penelitian ini menggunakan 2 komputer klien dengan pengujian masing-masingnya 5 kali pengujian pengaksesan/browsing web yang dituju melalui proxy server. Dari hasil pengujian yang dilakukan, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa penerapan proxy server di sistem operasi linux dengan tools squid lebih cepat browsing dari klien menggunakan web browser yang sama dan komputer klien yang berbeda dari pada proxy server sistem operasi windows dengan tools winroute. Kata kunci: Proxy, Bandwidth, Browsing, Squid, Winroute Abstract- At this time very many organizations, both education, government, and private companies try to limit the access of users to the internet on the grounds that the bandwidth owned began to feel slow when the users began to do a lot of browsing to the internet. Speed up browsing access is a major concern by utilizing Proxy server technology. The use of proxy servers need to consider the operating system on the server and the tool used is not yet known the best performance on what operating system. For that it is necessary to analyze Performance Proxy server on different operating system that is Linux Operating System with Squid tools and Windows Operating System with Winroute tool. This study was conducted to determine the comparison of browsing speed of the user's computer (client). The browser used on the user's computer is Mozilla Firefox. This study uses two client computers with each test 5 times accessing web browsing / destination testing via proxy server. From the results of tests conducted, it can be concluded that the application of proxy server in linux operating system with squid tools faster browsing from client using the same web browser and client computer different from the proxy server windows operating system with winroute tools. Most clients are placed behind the proxy servers on the Internet. Proxy servers have the disk cache space, network bandwidth, and availability to cache part of the objects for clients. In addition, the number of proxy servers can be increased or decreased dynamically according to the anticipated server workload, making them good candidates to alleviate the bottleneck problem. We have described in the last two chapters how the caching methods provide better performance for continuous request streams in individual proxy servers. In this chapter, we show how the proxy servers may work together to improve the overall performance in delivering objects. At present, large multimedia objects are not cached or only partially cached in current proxy servers mainly for two reasons. First, the owner of the multimedia objects needs to ensure security and control of access of the objects before they are willing to let any proxy servers cache their objects. Thus, any new methods need to allow the content owner have complete control over the objects’ security. Second, the owner of the proxy server wishes to have full autonomy control over its own cache content so that the proxy server may maximize the cache efficiency for its own clients.

ObjectiveWith continuing use of the Internet, rheumatologists are referring patients to various websites to gain information about medications and diseases. Our goal was to develop and evaluate a Medication Website Assessment Tool (MWAT) for use by health professionals, and to explore the overall quality of methotrexate information presented on common English-language websites.MethodsIdentification of websites was performed using a search strategy on the search engine Google. The first 250 hits were screened. Inclusion criteria included those English-language websites from authoritative sources, trusted medical, physicians’, and common health-related websites. Websites from pharmaceutical companies, online pharmacies, and where the purpose seemed to be primarily advertisements were also included. Product monographs or technical-based web pages and web pages where the information was clearly directed at patients with cancer were excluded. Two reviewers independently scored each included web page for completeness and accuracy, format, readability, reliability, and credibility. An overall ranking was provided for each methotrexate information page.ResultsTwenty-eight web pages were included in the analysis. The average score for completeness and accuracy was 15.48 ± 3.70 (maximum 24) with 10 out of 28 pages scoring 18 (75%) or higher. The average format score was 6.00 ± 1.46 (maximum 8). The Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level revealed an average grade level of 10.07 ± 1.84, with 5 out of 28 websites written at a reading level less than grade 8; however, no web page scored at a grade 5 to 6 level. An overall ranking was calculated identifying 8 web pages as appropriate sources of accurate and reliable methotrexate information.ConclusionWith the enormous amount of information available on the Internet, it is important to direct patients to web pages that are complete, accurate, readable, and credible sources of information. We identified web pages that may serve the interests of both rheumatologists and patients.

Numbers of internet users are increasing incredibly fast. Ideally, this increasing numbers of users are also supported by capacity uplift, in this case an increase in bandwidth to maintain the standard services that received by the users. However, increasing the bandwidth not always becomes the first option since it is quite expensive. Implementing proxy server as content/cache engine is the other option available. It will cache the content that user requested and keep it for a while for servicing the other users that will request the same content in the future. WCCP protocol is used to redirect user’s traffic to the proxy server. The standard proxy server configurations are using single router with one or more proxy servers. This thesis is aims to design and implement proxy server system with multi routers configuration. Multi routers configuration is used as a failover mechanism to provide network high availability. It will use HSRP protocol to provide the high availability services. Tests that conducted after implementation shows the increase in transaction and successful transaction by 296% and 284% also a decrease in response time as well as failed transaction by 18% and 99% consecutively. Failover test shows the percentage of packet loss amounted to 31,3% and 26,3% for clients in VLAN 10 and VLAN 20 consecutively. The average time required for clients to reconnect to the internet after router failure is 7 seconds for clients in VLAN 10 and 6 seconds for client in VLAN 20.
