HTTPS protocol offers better data protection than regular HTTP protocol since it utilize cryptography, mainly encryption and authentication mechanism to provide confidentiality and authenticity to packets sent to and from servers. However, not all institutions have properly implemented HTTPS protocol for their web sites. This paper analyzed the implementation of HTTPS protocol for all higher education web sites in Java island. We found that only 28 out of 1505 (1.86%) of all higher education institution who have a domain name have been using HTTPS protocol for their main domain. Furthermore, not all of them have properly implemented HTTPS protocol. We analyzed all 28 domains and we found that 8 out of 28 (28.57%) institutions are still using SSLv3 protocol which is no longer recommended to be used since it’s vulnerable to POODLE attack, 9 out of 28 (32.14%) institutions are still using an old algorithm RC4 which is proven to be insecure, 4 out of 28 (14.28%) institutions only support up to TLS 1.0, and 6 out of 28 (21.42%) institutions are still using SSLv2 or reusing same RSA keys thus vulnerable to DROWN attack. Many of the best practices of implementing HTTPS protocol were also neglected. HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) is used by 5 out of 28 (17.8%) institutions and none of them have implemented HTTP Public Key Pinning (HPKP). Index Terms—cryptography, HTTPS, SSL, TLS

Student services represent one of the most important areas that has developed in every higher education institution and continues to evolve based on the students’ feedback and contextual issues. All quality assurance systems for higher education include standards to evaluate institutional capacity to provide these services. Well-being is one type of student service that universities have high interest in developing. In the current pandemic situation, significant changes towards digitalization have occurred, but at the same time, new types of student services based on counselling proved to be the most needed. Academic leadership is facing a lot of pressure to increase research visibility and deal with limited resources; therefore, a decision on well-being development is not easy. The purpose of this study is to reveal the well-being concept and practice as applied in different universities in Romania in order to build a possible institutional strategy (an introductory model). Apart from a literature review, conceptual clarifications, and best practices, the methodology includes a gap analysis and a survey based on a questionnaire to determine the students’ perceptions on the development of well-being services. The findings show the highest interest of respondents in contributing to the well-being service development. The conclusions indicate concrete steps for the establishment of a well-being strategy.

This paper presents an analysis of mould growth causes that be found in an indoor library environment. The visual inspection had been conducted to identify visible mould in the indoor library environment. Three higher education institution libraries in Malaysia were selected as a case study. The identified mould species on the site were analysed using mould growth germination factors and possible causes that related to the growth. The result confirmed mould species such as Aspergillus, Penicillium, Stachybotrys’s identified as a common mould growth found in the three library buildings. The analysis of mould growth causes is important for this study as is to confirm the relationship with the mould found in this building which may result in adverse health impact, environment, material and archive in the library. The result also can become guidelines and best practices for library management regarding good indoor environmental quality.

The paper describes the method for increasing the level of self-organisation in students which has been developed by the author. It also contains the method testing results and presents the prospects and risks teachers could face while applying the method in a higher education institution. The purpose of this study is to find out the prospects and risks of applying the method for increasing the level of self-organisation in students and to determine the ways of reducing the risks. Methodology. The author points out the learning approaches which were the basis of developing the method and describes diagnostic methods for determining students’ self-organisation levels. The work focused on increasing each student’s initial level consists of a theoretical and a practical part and includes project activities on creating a study guide. The results of the study. The method developed proved to be effective. It was established by diagnosing the final level of self-organisation in students in the experimental and control groups. The paper considers the advantages of the method among which there is universal character, flexibility, improvements to teacher’s and students’ professional competence, etc. At the same time it is necessary to be aware of the risks due to the increased amount of teacher’s work and the fact that students’ work within the project tends to be monotonous. In conclusion, the prospects of the method for increasing the level of self-organisation in students are related to its advantages and the final results of the work. The risks of its use can be reduced with the help of the measures proposed in the paper.
