This article identifies an in-depth analysis of the concept of "social adaptation" of children with special psychological needs, in particular, describes the importance of the architectural factor as key in creating a favorable social environment, helps to ensure effective social adaptation. The method of terminological analysis was used to analyze the concept of "social adaptation" and the definition of possible components; The process of social adaptation is considered in the context of three related categories - society, medicine, architecture – which affect the effectiveness of the process and form its key components. Architecture as a means of influencing the adaptive process is too underestimated, although it is the architectural space and environment that unite all functional processes. Social adaptation is a complex and multifaceted process, which depends not only on the skill and experience of specialists, the peculiarities of children's perception, but also on the nature of the environment in which this process takes place. The space formed by architectural means can both promote effective adaptation of children with special needs in the conditions of the social environment, and brake it owing to design imperfections and inconsistencies. The study conducted in the article confirms the importance of analyzing the architectural aspect of social adaptation and its impact on relevant processes, will further help to create a basis for social integration of children with special needs in society.

The article provides an in-depth analysis of the theoretical foundations that precede the process of organizing communicative spaces within the children's educational and rehabilitation centre for social adaptation - an institution whose goal is to create optimal conditions for enhanced socialization of children with special psychological needs and their further integration into society. The definition of signs of children's communicative space is considered and the significance of spatial composition in the process of socialization of children is determined. The article considers key aspects of the problem – medical and architectural and determines possible factors influencing the process of expanding the network of institutions of the corresponding direction on the territory of Ukraine

The article present the results of research into the role of social networking in the life of under-age (aged 10–18) people with special needs (the number of respondents —120 under-age people). The aim of the research is to identify the degree of influence that social networks have on the process of social adaptation of under-age people with special needs. Each of the social networks under scrutiny was analyzed as to the user opportunities it has to offer and the user needs it can satisfy. The author also provides a definition of (1) the concept of a social network, (2) a social graph as a major element of a social network, (3) a person with special needs, and (4) population disability.

We discuss the influence of social adaptation on life success in orphans and children left without parental care when entering into an independent life. We provide the definition of the social adaptation in terms of psychology and law, review recent research findings of Russian scientists on social adaptation of children, as well as data on vital dispensation of graduates of orphanages. It is emphasized that the beginning of an independent life causes high stress, that children often cannot find their place in life and develop the mechanisms of behavior that contribute to the successful inclusion in public relations, quality education and the formation of family values. Thus, the most important condition for the successful entry of the child into an independent life is social integration into society, learning the rules and norms of behavior of society, the motivation for productive activities, education and the creation of a strong family and parenting. We provide the results of a study aimed at identifying coping strategies of behavior in stressful situations, adaptation features, as well as the level of anxiety in children-orphans and children left without parental care.

The article investigates the substantive characteristics of the readiness of the social teacher, practical psychologist, educators, parents of children with special educational needs in the conditions of the pre-school educational institution. The definition of "social adaptation of children with special educational problems in the conditions of the institution of general educational institution " is analyzed. The main results of psychological and pedagogical coaching are determined: the awareness of specialists of the pre-school educational institution and parents of social adaptation importance for children with special educational needs as a requirement for their effective integration into the inclusive pre-school educational institution. This study collates the current state of knowledge regarding the sense of humor attitude in the social interactions among children with special needs, which aims to explore the current state of knowledge and quality of empirical evidence relating to humor among children with special needs. In the study there were involved 78 students of Emerald School of Cinere in South Jakarta. There were more over 20% students in normal condition and students with special needs were 80%. Research had assessed humor in the classroom and humor expression in different groups including those with autism, down syndrome, and other special needs. This study was designed by using the descriptive qualitative method to analyze, describe, and explain the data. The procedure of data collection was done by observation and filled the questionnaire of the Richmond Humor Assessment Instrument (RHAI). The result of the study showed that there were 47, 08% of favorable criteria, and 52, 92% of unfavorable ones. Based on gender, more boys answered favorable criteria compared to girls. Moreover, boys were dare to express their senses of humor than the girls. The girls showed their shynesses to express their sense of humor. The results of the study showed that the children with special needs in Emerald school had less sense of humor. Furthermore, the role of humor in communication development, social facilitation, creativity, and stigma had all received some limited attention among children with special needs in Emerald School, South Jakarta.

Social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic represented a golden opportunity to implement telerehabilitation for clinical groups of children. The present study aims to show the impact that telerehabilitation had on the experience of well-being of children with special needs being treated at the Foundation IRCCS Neurological Institute ‘C. Besta’ in Milan (Specific Learning Disorders and Cerebral Palsy diagnosis); it aims to do so by comparing it with experiences of those who did not undertake telerehabilitation despite the diagnosis during the pandemic, and with typically developing children. Results show that the three groups differed in the Support, Respect and Learning dimensions of well-being experience. Post hoc comparisons revealed that children with Specific Learning Disorders and Cerebral Palsy scored higher than normotypical children in Support and in Respect scales. Furthermore, children who experienced telerehabilitation showed the highest scores on the Learning scale in comparison with the other two groups. These results support the importance of reorganizing care and assistance by integrating telemedicine, which seems to have fostered a positive experience of well-being in people with special needs, particularly in the perception of a supportive environment that respects psychological needs.

Race describes cultural, historical, and oppressive relationships in society. The use of race in biomedical and scientific studies has been a powerful tool that can reinforce and alter society’s current assumptions about race. Some of the historical uses of race include evidence for race-based medicine, biological inferiority, and genocide. These uses have all used race as a crude proxy for genetic makeup, rather than a biological expression of the social environment that infiltrates the health and well-being of every American. By defining race and its social and cultural impacts on identity and the human experience within research, the field of biomedicine will improve clarity and integrity in addressing historical, scientific, and clinical inequalities. Currently, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) does not contain a definition of race and uses homogeneous ethnical categories when reporting population statistics. We propose that the definition of race be added in the collection of race data as a requirement of the OMB for nationally conducted research.

Children with Special Needs are children with disabilities in the development of life due to disruption (mental, intellectual, emotional, social, physical) in the social-social, career, and academic fields, so they need special services and are different from children in general. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to increase the self-acceptance of educators towards Children with Special Needs. This study uses an experimental approach to the design of one group pretest-posttest. The study was conducted on teachers who are members of the HIMPAUDI Sleman District, who were randomly selected and obtained as many as 27 teachers. Data analysis was performed using the T-Test technique. Based on the results of the study, it appears that the self-acceptance of educators towards Children with Special Needs before and after the training on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) increases, but the increase is less significant. Conclusion The Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)  program is less effective in improving the self-acceptance of educators towards Children with Special Needs. Based on these results, it needs to be followed up with direct assistance or assistance in schools for educators who systematically help Children with Special Needs.

The article is devoted to the theoretical analysis of the system of organizations for children with the limited psychophysical possibilities in Ukraine. There is a system of governmental and non-governmental organizations working with children with limited psychophysical abilities. It is noted that at present there are at least two main strategies of social assistance, social security and protection of people with limited psychophysical capabilities. The first one is more focused on supporting the functioning of the system of institutions (boarding schools, residentional homes for people with disabilities, etc.) intended to help the children, young people and adults with special needs. The strategy is aimed at those people who live at home, but its priority areas are, first of all, financial allowance (payment of pensions and material assistance) and certain public welfare (social assistance, support), carried out through territorial institutions of the social security system. The second strategy involves the social adaptation of children (in particular, the inculcating life skills, vocational training, manifestation of creative potential to independent adult) and implemented by social rehabilitation centers. The comparative characteristic of the Community initiatives is shown in the article. The activities of social organizations aimed at social integration and provision of available integrated care services, habilitation and rehabilitation programs, providing support for children with special psychophysical capabilities. The organizations try to help a child to find his/her place in the new society. The main goal of the rehabilitation centers’ activities is not only the reconstruction of the form and contents of work, but the desire to break and rebuild as a whole the attitudes towards children with special needs with consideration for their needs and problems. This is achieved by the following: coordinate the efforts of various experts dealing with the children with disabilities; provide early diagnostics developmental disorders; investigate a child’s personality, reveal his/her abilities, optimize the choice of the adaptation and educational program; elaborate a program for the raising of children with different levels of mental disabilities; elaborate preventive measures; prepare people for education in special classes at regular schools and through professional assimilation.
