The purpose of the article is to attract the attention of culturоlogists and cultural anthropologists to the possibility of reception of the problems and research lens of non-anthropocentric anthropology. In the last third of the ХХ – and early ХХІ centuries foreign non-anthropocentric anthropology has been in an active stage of conceptualization and institutionalization. And now its influence is continuing to grow. The article reveals the essence of such academic trends as anthropology without anthropocentrism, ontological turn in line with perspectivism, trans- аnd posthumanistic tendencies in the humanities, material turn, bio/animal turn, and others. The methodology within the framework of culturology and cultural studies is based on the conceptual foundations of non-anthropocentric anthropology, methods of empirical (observation, comparison), and theoretical research (abstraction, analysis, synthesis, induction, and deduction), etc. The scientific novelty of the paper lies in the fact that in the Ukrainian humanities, in particular in culturology and cultural studies, an analytical review of the genesis and essence of such a research approach as non-apocentric anthropology is carried out for the first time. As far as we know, the question of the need for the reception of the research optics of neo-centric anthropology by culturology is also raised for the first time. The article contains conceptual author’s tables also. Conclusions. The author believes that the reception of research on non-anthropocentric anthropology, the development of an appropriate conceptual apparatus, and revision of some key concepts of culturology in the light of modern scientific knowledge in a timely and promising area of research in culturology and cultural studies.

Ethnic groups have been defined as people who share a common ethos based on ancestry, nation, language and other identity markers. This volume brings scholars from across the globe that have incorporated perspectives from critical and cultural studies in an investigation of what it means to define oneself in an ethnic category and how this category is performed and represented as an ethnicity. The essays in this volume engage the four themes of identity construction, local and transnational politics, appropriation and related exotification, and resistance that are part of the ongoing discourse in the relationship between dance and ethnicity. Cumulatively, the essays in their research approach and methodology document the change that has taken place in dance studies from the ethnic as an easily identified category based on biology and geography to ethnicity as a fluid concept and dance as an active contributor to the creation and negotiation of it.

In allusion to the need of analyzing complex system, we have proposed a method named multi-grade color Petri net. We for the first time use this new method to analyze a missile training simulator system. This model can accurately reflect the complex environments of the system and avoid the difficulty occurring often in developing accurate mathematics model by using classical research approach.

Cultural studies as a humanities researcher takes the place of an expert. The relevance of this topic is due to the lack of development of the issues of “culture-based studies” in Ukrainian culturology. There is a lack of translated into French or Ukrainian languages of French sources published since 1975. French culturological science, which developed after 1975, is almost not represented in Ukrainian culturology. The present stage of the development of French historiography, which lies at the heart of cultural history, and cultural studies, is associated with increased attention to social knowledge. This stage is characterized by the deployment of a “critical turn”, which proceeds from the following principles: the interdisciplinary approach, the significance of cultural expertise, the severity of publications and the multiplicity of their forms, multidisciplinarity. The “critical turn” affects the following spheres of knowledge: la Culturologie, les Études culturelles, les Sciences de la Culture. The article substantiates the relevance of the use of the concept of “culture-based studies” to the definition of processes that are unfolding within the framework of French humanities and are associated exclusively with the theoretical formations in the context of the social sciences. The purpose of the article is to outline a map of culture-based studies in the field of French humanitaristics. The methodology of the article is based on the application of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to research in the field of culturology. Also, methodological developments in the field of “critical turn” and the achievements of the sociological circle and the interdisciplinary discussion club “Eranos” were applied. The scientific novelty of the article is to substantiate the appropriateness of the use of the concept of “culture-based studies” on the definition of processes that are unfolding within the framework of French humanitaristics and relate exclusively to theoretical formations in the context of social sciences. This concept to the field of Ukrainian culturology is introduced for the first time. Also, for the first time, the place and forms of culturology in French humanities were clarified. Conclusions. Working with a source base and methodology is one of the points that are compulsory on the way to the solution of the tasks, the main of which is the formation of the body of fundamental works for French history (including the history of culture) and historiography of the period since 1975 year to the present day. On the basis of this building, there is the prospect of building an alternative national cultural history project addressed to the vector of the French historiographical, historical-anthropological and cultural-related issues in the field of social knowledge. The article presents the arguments why it is appropriate to use the concept of “culture-based studies” in the context of conducting research in relation to French humanitaristics, in particular, the modern period of its development.

This paper will extend work originally presented in Pertierra and Turner’s <em>Locating Television </em>(2013) to argue that the reasons for which the demise of television was prematurely assumed can be understood and corrected by critically examining the geopolitics of television scholarship. The spaces from which television has been taken seriously as a topic of investigation have enabled a neglect of empirical and theoretical research that genuinely engages with the ways in which television might be understood as variously surviving, growing, innovating and even leading the current and future global media landscapes. The paper offers two ways in which television scholars might productively re-locate their spheres of concentration to understand the diversity of television worlds today: 1) empirically, it considers the case of the Philippines where broadcast television is successful in ways that could only be dreamed of by television executives in the so-called ‘world centres’ of the global entertainment industry. 2) theoretically, the paper refers to complementary attempts in sociology, literary and cultural studies to offer alternatives to Europe and North America from which scholars might locate the vanguard for modernity, globalization and innovation. It is by engaging with both of these strands in concert—empirically investigating television beyond the ‘usual places’ in such a way that responds to the call of cultural theorists to question our very assumptions about where television studies’ ‘usual places’ should be, that more nuanced understandings, and fewer premature declarations, might be made about what television is, and where it is going.

The relevance of the article is determined by the researcher of the semantic poetics of Platonov’s story “Potudan River”. We carry out an analytical review of the lifetime criticism and articles of modern researchers about the story, on the basis of which we formulate the purpose of the study, due to the need for a new approach to the interpretation of the work and the identification of the principles of its poetics. The novelty of the article is determined by the identification of the multilayered symbolism of the title of the story, which allows to establish the insufficiency of the conclusions that the content of the “Potudan River” is limited to the family theme. At the level of micropoetics we reveal symbolic details that connect the content of the story with the motive of love for the distant, medical and construction subjects and revealing the planetary scale of the author’s thinking. For the first time, it was established that Platonov’s story “Potudan River” was written based on part of the plot of the novel “Chevengur” – the love story of Alexander Dvanov and Sonya Mandrova. We show that the heroes of the story “Potudan River” Nikita Firsov, Lyuba Kuznetsova and Nikita’s father are doubles of the characters in the novel “Chevengur” by Sasha Dvanov, Sonya Mandrova, and Zakhar Pavlovich. The connection of the image of Lyuba with the archetype of the bride is considered. The paper reveals for the first time the intertextual connections of the story “Potudan River” with the poem “The Bronze Horseman” and the novel in verse “Eugene Onegin” by A. Pushkin, in the texts of which the writer found material for modeling the ordinary fate of the hero. Multi-level connections of the content of the story “Potudan River” with Platonov’s artistic world, which is a complete metatext, are found, which opens up new opportunities for determining the role of the editing technique and the principles of returning to the plots and motives of the works of the 1920s, as well as their transformation in the writer’s work of the 1930s.

For the first time, an analytical review of all, without exception, censorship stories of N.V. Gogol’s works is presented. An objective picture of Gogol's relationship with the censorship is being recreated. The findings of the study allow, with good reason, to judge about the interference of censors in the writer's works in a fundamentally different way, in comparison with the ideas offered by literary criticism of the previous period without solid evidence. Based on a thorough analysis, involving numerous archival sources, the common, stereotypical opinions about the extremely negative role of censorship in Gogol’s fate are being revised. The most significant negative result among all censorship interventions in Gogol's works was the activity of the censor of Westernizing views, opposed to the government, a professor at St. Petersburg University, A.V. Nikitenko. It is the numerous reductions of Nikitenko, И.А. Виноградов. Произведения Н .В. Гоголя и цензура 255 a friend of V.G. Belinsky, in Gogol's religious and patriotic book “Selected Passages from Correspondence with Friends” that the writer called “censorship murder”. No less significant was the intervention of the liberal censor in the texts of “Dead Souls”, “Theatrical Travel after the Presentation of a New Comedy” and other works of the writer. It is concluded that, with the exception of this “intrigue” against Gogol by the censor Nikitenko, on the whole Gogol's texts encountered relatively insignificant difficulties in censorship.

Digitizing records ensures that the continuation of information value remains accessible and usable in all academic institutions. The study aimed to establish strategies being used for digitization of records in higher education institutions in South Africa. A case study design was found appropriate to investigate the strategies of digitizing records in KwaZulu-Natal. The study employed the qualitative research approach and collected data from the literature. Content analysis was used for data analysis. Furthermore, the study used an analytical review of empirical findings conversant of digitization of records in academic institutions as the strategy. Literature was reviewed across the world and narrowed down to KwaZulu-Natal intending to trace strategies being used by universities in KwaZulu-Natal. The findings revealed that most records are stored on the digital platforms or network servers that the university manages. Users across the world get access to these records and it gives the platform to download all records. The findings further revealed that records are stored and digitized individually from the portable devices. The study recommended that institutions should offer more training to the staff.

The 2000s have seen numerous comics conquer the devout Haredi book market in the usa as well as in Israel, sparking a boom which still remains largely unnoticed. The work of Gadi Pollack stands out due to its graphic quality and richness in technique and ideas. “His comics can be classified as a modern form of Musar literature, which is not only for ‘children’.” His comics will thus serve as a case study for the medium; a medium that is also the subject of Judaistic cultural studies and examined here for the very first time.

<p><b>The study of purely organic room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) has drawn </b><b>increasing attention </b><b>because of its considerable theoretical research and practical application </b><b>value</b><b>. Currently, organic RTP materials with both high efficiency (<i>Ф</i>P > 20%) and a long lifetime (<i>τ</i>P > 10 s) in air are still </b><b>scarce due to</b><b> the lack of related design guidance. Here, we </b><b>report</b><b> a new strategy to increase the phosphorescence performance of organic materials by integrating the RTP host and RTP guest in one doping system to form </b><b>a </b><b>triplet exciplex. With these materials, the high-contrast </b><b>labelling</b><b> of tumours in living mice and encrypted patterns in thermal printing are both successfully realized for the first time</b><b> by</b><b> taking </b><b>advantage of both</b><b> the long afterglow time (up to 25 min in aqueous media) and high phosphorescence efficiency (43%).</b></p>

The subject of study in the article is the amount of leaks of the working fluid in the gap between the plunger and the bushing of an aircraft axial-plunger pump, depending on the position of the plunger relative to the bushing. The level of fluid leaks in the gap between the plunger and the cylinder block bushing is a component of volumetric losses, affects the thermal state, wear, the state of the plunger-bushing pair, as well as the level of pressure pulsations of the working fluid and, ultimately, the change in the efficiency of the axial-plunger pump. Researches deal with the influence of piston defects in a bushing on losses through a gap between them that is not discovered in existent literature. The aim of this work is theoretical research of the influence of piston defect on the leakage of working liquid through a gap between the piston and cylindrical bushing in aviation axial-piston pump under workloads. The tasks are: it is necessary to define the losses quantity for the three cases: the axes of piston and bushing coincide; piston is displaced (axes are parallel) with a maximal eccentricity ε = 0.99; piston is twisted in a bushing so that the edges of piston touch a bushing. For the problem-solving methods as follows were used. The task of thin film laminar flow in a gap between piston and bushing was solved by a numeral method in finite-element software. Losses on a piston are considered as a sum of the losses, related to the motion of the piston at a speed W and losses due to the pressure gradient dp/dz. The results are: to obtain the laws of geometrical parameters influence on the losses amount investigation for one piston was undertaken in the first part of the study. It is marked that most losses take place for piston displaced in parallel, and the least - for twisted. Total losses for the real pump on different operational behaviors are considered and volume loss-of-flows are obtained in the second part of the article. Conclusions. Dependences of losses through a gap at the different gap sizes and relative length of bushing for twisted piston are first time obtained. The results allow estimating the losses quantity in a pump on the efficiency of his work at planning and exploitation.
