The book material for students can be said as a good book if they have fulfilled some criteria of good book. In line with this fact, this research has purpose to analyze the students‟ view on criteria of good book for online business and marketing. Besides, it also searches the students‟ needs of local wisdom material. The design is descriptive qualitative and the data is collected through observation, questionnaire, and interview. The observation was done through observe the recent english book from ministry of education and culture. The questionnaire was consisted of 22 questions and given to 36 students of online business and marketing program. The interview was given to English teacher and the students to get information about the recent english book, it also used to know the criteria of good book based on their perception. The preliminary research found that the recent english book material was not fulfilled some criteria of good book and local wisdom material was not found in this book. From this finding, need analysis is needed to know the criteria of good book based on students‟ view. The result finds that most of them need suitable english book material with the goal of their program, so it is in line and support the goal of vocational high school to prepare students in working world. Based on the finding from need analysis, English book material which is suitable with students need has to be developed. Moreover, this book should be based on local wisdom to promote local culture.

The aim of this study is to develop Picture Series as a media for teaching writing procedure text at the third year students of Pahlawan Nasional Junior High School. The researcher used Research and Development (R &D) method through ten steps: observing, evaluating need analysis, developing first media, validating with experts, revising it, testing in small group, revising, testing in large group, revising, producing final product. The subjects of this research were 30 students from IX-1 class, and 34 students from IX-2 class. The instrument of collecting data was using questionnaires. The data were analyzed by descriptive text technique. The result of the product from two validators – an English lecturer from State University of Medan and an English teacher from Pahlawan Nasional Junior High School, was in scale of 4 which was in good quality. And the result from all of the students was in scale of 4 which was in good quality too. It means that the developed product/Picture Series is eligible to be used for teaching writing procedure text for the third year students in Pahlawan Nasional Junior High School. Keywords: Research and Development (R & D), writing procedure text, picture series

Online business has been raised rapidly in recent times. This is a challenge for a web developer or web designer. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job opportunities as web development are projected to grow by 27% from 2014 to 2024. But web course material provided at Vocational high School is still limited to basic material. We know that Vocational High Schools are formed to prepare graduates who are ready to work and become a solution to unemployment problem. A programmed, it is called “Pengabdian Pada Masyarakat”, gives a training to society, in our study case is Vocational high School Binakarya Mandiri 2 Bekasi. This training was held with online platform and attended by around 25 students. The results of this training are 1) e-commerce website products, 2) training modules, and 3) video tutorials. We can be concluded that this activity can support vocational students programming skills.

Abstract: This study aims to find out the need analysis of teaching and learning English for vocational high school students. It is focused on the students’ needs, deficiencies, and desires. To find the source of knowledge to design proper English materials, this study was performed at one of Bina Informatika vocational high school of bintaro , Tangerang Selatan. A series of questionnaires were distributed to multimedia students to analyze their needs, shortcomings, and motivation to learn English for vocational purposes. This survey research using a series of questionnaires covering three measures to determine the needs of students for particular purposes on materials in learning English. There were 41 participants in this study involving the eleventh graders. In figuring out the majority decisions for each item asked, the data were evaluated quantitatively. In investigating the reasons for each result, open-ended interviews were conducted with both the teacher and the students. The result showed that the students were supposed to be able to use English for everyday contact that would be beneficial to their future jobs since fluency in speaking and grammar were burdening them. Therefore, these students need contextual teaching on the delivered topics. In conclusion, the results of this research can be a landmark for creating a package of materials in English learning for the students.   Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui analisis kebutuhan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris bagi siswa SMK. Hal ini difokuskan pada kebutuhan, kekurangan, dan keinginan siswa yang menjadi sasaran pembelajaran. Untuk mengetahui sumber pengetahuan dalam merancang materi bahasa Inggris yang tepat, penelitian ini dilakukan di SMK Bina Informatika di Bintaro, Tangerang Selatan. Serangkaian kuesioner dibagikan kepada siswa multimedia untuk menganalisis kebutuhan, kekurangan, dan motivasi belajar bahasa Inggris untuk keperluan vokasional. Penelitian survei ini menggunakan serangkaian kuesioner yang mencakup tiga langkah untuk mengetahui kebutuhan siswa akan tujuan tertentu pada materi dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Ada 41 peserta dalam penelitian ini yang melibatkan siswa kelas sebelas. Dalam menentukan keputusan mayoritas untuk setiap item yang ditanyakan, data dievaluasi secara kuantitatif. Dalam menyelidiki alasan untuk setiap hasil, wawancara terbuka dilakukan dengan guru dan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa diharapkan dapat menggunakan bahasa Inggris untuk percakapan sehari-hari yang akan bermanfaat bagi pekerjaan mereka di masa depan karena kefasihan berbicara dan tata bahasa membebani mereka. Oleh karena itu, para siswa ini membutuhkan pengajaran kontekstual pada topik yang disampaikan. Kesimpulannya, hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi tonggak pembuatan bahan ajar bahasa Inggris bagi siswa.

Theis research has a prominet goal, idenitfying types of speech acts uttered by an English teacher at a vocational high school. This work uses Searle’s theory to discover the dominant kinds of speech act employed by the teacher. The researchers also investigated the additional utterances in showing learning movement. The research methodology is descriptive-qualitative research, where the researcher found three kinds of speech act uttered by the teacher; directive, representative, and expressive. The researchers calculated the data finding and found 297 utterances which comprised of 246 directives utterances or 82,83% of overall data, 45 representative utterances or represented the 15.15% of data, and 6 expressive utterances which covered 2,02%. The most obtrusive was directive speech acts (82.83%) and the less frequent was expressive speech act (2.02%). The most obtrusive was directive speech acts because the teacher often used directives (questioning) to handle the students in the classroom and made sure that the students understand the aims of the English material.

Purpose of Study: Along with the development of science and technology, significant Become preparing qualified gradu- ates in the working world, Including for the graduates of vocational senior high school. In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Indonesia No.20 / 2003 on National Education System, the purpose of vocational education is to prepare stu- dents to be ready to work in Certain fields. Meanwhile, According to Regulation 32/2013 National Standard of Education, the vocational education intended to increase of the intelligence, knowledge, personality, moral, as well as the skills to live independently and to have further education in parallel with previous education. Based on the direction of vocational education policy as described, Several questions were drawn as follows: 1. What is meant by teaching factory ?; 2. What is the teaching-learning purpose of teaching factory ?; 3.What benefits will be gained by implementing a teaching factory ?; 4.What do the strengths and weaknesses of the teaching factory?; and 5.What are the implications of the Institute of Education and the Workforce, especially in the preparing of vocational senior high school teachers? Methodology: From the study to the related literature and relevant researches, it can be concluded that: 1The basic principle of teaching factory is the experience integration of working in the school curriculum, where all the equipment, materials and education subjects were designed in order to carry out the production process. This process Aimed to produce the goods/services, and reliable and competent graduates. 2 Though there were thirteen performance indicators, many Efforts were needed in order to fully implement the teaching factory in Senior Vocational High School environment, According to concepts, objectives and benefits, Including pre14 paring qualified senior vocational high school teachers; 3. In the evaluation of teaching factory activity in Surakarta, Fajaryati in 2012 found that in terms of learning activities, the implementation of teaching factory was well-run, whereas the aspect of the production process, did not run as expected; and 4. Reorientation and revitalization of the Education and Workforce Education curriculum roommates were in line with the demands of users graduates, especially in the faculty of engineering were required. Results: Benefits of teaching factory, in principle, is aware of the students, that in the mastery of skills, not enough to just practice soft skills in learning, work in teams, and training interpersonal communication skills, but also have to realize the knowledge directly and exercise work to enter the working world significantly. Implications/Applications: The basic principle learning factory is the integration experience of working in the school curriculum, where all the equipment, materials and education actors, designed to make the production process in order to produce goods/services, as well as Vocational High School graduates who are competent/reliable.

The Ministry of Education and Culture in 2016 made one of the breakthrough programs in an effort to organize and fulfill productive teachers in Vocational High Schools (VHS) through the Dual Skills Program (DSK). The DSK is implemented to support the improvement of vocational education as well as education and job skills training. Meanwhile, DSK participating teachers must have new competencies that can be used to teach productive subjects in certain areas of expertise. Increasing the competence of DSK participants needs to take into account the development of transferable skills obtained after conducting training or in the process of implementing DSK. The aims of this study are to 1.) Determine the types of transferable skills that DSK participant teachers need to possess; and 2.) Analyze and describe the transferable skills of teachers of vocational high school on-in-on-in DSK in Malang Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach. The samples used were all Vocational High School teachers who took part in the on-in-on-in DSK in Malang Regency, while the respondent's data collection used a questionnaire. The results showed that the types of transferable skills consist of communication skills, planning skills, interpersonal skills, work attitude skills, organizational skills, financial management skills, and critical thinking skills. The transferable skills of teachers of vocational high school on-in-on-in dual skills program in Malang Regency were in a good category.

This research aimed to investigate the English needs of Tour and Travel Department at Vocational High School Negeri 1 and Vocational High School Negeri 7 in Bengkulu City. The research used mixed method and convergent parallel design. The sample of this research consisted of three groups of respondents. First group was students, consisted of 28 active students and 4 alumni. Second group was English teachers, consisted of 2 English teachers. The third group was stakeholders, consisted of two heads of the Tour and Travel Department, two assistances of curriculum, hotel, and tour staffs. The data of this research were gathered by using adapted questionnaire and interview. The questionnaire was analyzed quantitatively and interview was analyzed qualitatively. The data were combined by using convergent parallel design. Results of this research indicated that listening and speaking are the two prioritized skills needed by the tour and travel department. Topics of speaking which has the greatest importance are flight reservation, prices and payment, tourist destination, tourist attraction, direction, and booking hotels. Topics of listening which has the greatest importance are flight reservation, booking hotels, direction, job interview, complaints, and cultural tourism.  Topics of reading which has the greatest importance are memos, letters, cultural tourism, handling a complaint, and tourism terms. Topics of writing which has the greatest importance are rules and regulation, instruction.

In this research, the researcher found that there are three kinds of speech act uttered by the teacher; they are directives, representative and  expressive. The reseacher calculated the data finding and found 397 utterances. The data found that there are 246 directives utterances with the percentage is 61,96% , 45 representative  untterances with the percentage is 45%, and 6 expressive utterances with the precentage 1,51% . The most obtrustive is directives speech act (61,96%) and the most seldom is expressives speech act (1,51%). The most obtrustive is directives because the teacher often used directives (questioning) to handle the students in the classroom and make sure that the students understood the aims of the English material.
