One of the current directions of development of modern energy-saving and energy-efficient technologies for ship and stationery (including municipal) energy is the use of ejector refrigeration machines, which can be used for air conditioning systems together with an absorption refrigeration machine (cascade cycle) or vapor compressor refrigeration machine as part of cogeneration or trigeneration units. Such circuit solutions can be used together with ensuring the rational organization of work processes in the main elements of the refrigeration machine, in particular in the jet device - ejector, the appropriate design of which, in turn, will further increase the thermal coefficient. Improving the design of the ejector is a rather complex and long process and does not always give positive results. It is primarily because many tests are required on full-scale models. Therefore, computer simulation of the ejector operation at different variable input parameters, considering the geometric characteristics of the flow part and variable mode characteristics during operation is more attractive in terms of finding options for rational (optimal) design. The paper presents the results of software development for modeling hydrodynamic processes in the flowing part of the ejector, considering the variable operating modes of the ejector refrigeration machine. The existing method for calculating the pressure and circulation characteristics of jet devices is used. The developed software complex "RefJet" in the design mode defines the maximum achievable coefficients of ejection of a jet ejector. In the simulation mode - provides determination of the ejection coefficients of the already designed (certain sizes) ejector at variable values of pressure at the inlet and outlet in specific operating conditions, considering its operation at the limit and partial modes. The work of the software package was tested in the development and analysis of circuit solutions of ejector refrigeration machines as part of the heat recovery circuits of three-generation units based on internal combustion engines and gas turbine engines.

Abstract. Aim. Due to the current priority given to energy conservation issues, a promising research avenue in the field of refrigeration consists in the developing of energy-saving systems based on heat-recovery absorption refrigerators. The aim of the work is to study the possibility of using a water-ammonia absorption refrigeration machine to increase the efficiency of food production facilities.Method. Based on an analysis of the initial enterprise data, the possible operating modes of the refrigeration machine were determined considering the various types of heating and cooling sources proposed in the task specification. The identification of the characteristics of single-stage and twostage absorption schemes confirmed the possibility of increasing the enterprise's efficiency through the use of secondary energy resources. Results. The choice of initial data for the design of a singlestage absorption water-ammonia refrigeration machine (AVXM) was justified on the basis of a preliminary analysis carried out to calculate the size of the degassing interval. The calculation was carried out using a ξ – i diagram for the ammonia water solution. Conclusion. Two prior conditions for the design of a high-performance absorption water-ammonia refrigeration machine were determined on the basis of an analysis of four conditions set by the customer. For operating conditions with a low degassing interval value, a scheme for an absorption water-ammonia refrigeration machine employing two-stage absorption is proposed.

One of the most acute thematic areas in discussions at international forums at various levels are the issues of improving the environmental performance and increasing the energy efficiency of the merchant marine vessels, both in international maritime and inland navigation. This article discusses the results of the practical application of analytical methods for processing the indication data of internal combustion engines of the Danube pusher under operating conditions, as well as some aspects of the application of the results of analytical synchronization of the data obtained to further substantiate the optimal operating modes of such vessels. The results are applicable to determine the possible range of variation in energy efficiency and environmental friendliness. When determining the energy efficiency indices, various forms of pushed caravans, most often operating in the Danube shipping, are taken into account. Further steps have also been taken to substantiate the concept of prioritizing diagnostics and optimizing the operation of engines of existing ships in comparison with the implementation of innovative ships projects. Surely, the introduction of new projects will theoretically lead to a faster achievement of the goals of a number of European projects (for example, GRENDEL - Green and Efficient Danube Fleet, European Green Deal conception, etc.) to achieve zero emissions, but any innovative projects are much more expensive than any modernization and optimization of the movement modes of vessels that are already in the Danube fleet, and which are successfully operating with good economic results. In this context, innovative vessel projects are not attractive to shipowners and other participants in the Danube transport market. The need to attract additional investments, lack of funds, market decline in the context of pandemic restrictions, the actual loss of business positions of small shipowners - all these are factors that make it impossible for the widespread use of innovative developments and solutions for the complete renewal of the Danube fleet by shipowners.

This article describes the proposed approaches to creating distributed models that can, with given accuracy under given restrictions, replace classical physical models for construction objects. The ability to implement the proposed approaches is a consequence of the cyber-physical integration of building systems. The principles of forming the data structure of designed objects and distributed models, which make it possible to uniquely identify the elements and increase the level of detail of such a model, are presented. The data structure diagram of distributed modeling includes, among other things, the level of formation and transmission of signals about physical processes inside cyber-physical building systems. An enlarged algorithm for creating the structure of the distributed model which describes the process of developing a data structure, formalizing requirements for the parameters of a design object and its operating modes (including normal operating conditions and extreme conditions, including natural disasters) and selecting objects for a complete group that provides distributed modeling is presented. The article formulates the main approaches to the implementation of an important practical application of the cyber-physical integration of building systems - the possibility of forming distributed physical models of designed construction objects and the directions of further research are outlined.

A significant part of Ukrainian bridges on public roads is operated for more than 30 years (94 %). At the same time, the traffic volume and the weight of vehicles has increased significantly. Insufficient level of bridges maintenance funding leads to the deterioration of their technical state. The ways to ensure reliable and safe operation of bridges are considered. The procedure for determining the predicted operational status of the elements and the bridge in general, which has a scientific novelty, is proposed. In the software complex, Analytical Expert Bridges Management System (AESUM), is a function that allows tracking the changes in the operational status of bridges both in Ukraine and in each region separately. The given algorithm of the procedure for determining the predicted state of the bridge using a degradation model is described using the Nassie-Schneidermann diagram. The model of the degradation of the bridge performance which is adopted in Ukraine as a normative one, and the algorithm for its adaptation to the AESUM program complex with the function to ensure the probabilistic predicted operating condition of the bridges in the automatic mode is presented. This makes it possible, even in case of unsatisfactory performance of surveys, to have the predicted lifetime of bridges at the required time. For each bridge element it is possible to determine the residual time of operation that will allow predict the state of the elements of the structure for a certain period of time in the future. Significant interest for specialists calls for the approaches to the development of orientated perspective plans for bridge inspection and monitoring of changes in the operational status of bridges for 2009-2018 in Ukraine. For the analysis of the state of the bridge economy, the information is available on the distribution of bridges by operating state related to the administrative significance of roads, by road categories and by materials of the structures. Determining the operating state of the bridge is an important condition for making the qualified decisions as regards its maintenance. The Analytical Expert Bridges Management System (AESUM) which is implemented in Ukraine, stores the data on the monitoring the status of bridges and performs the necessary procedures to maintain them in a reliable and safe operating condition. An important result of the work is the ability to determine the distribution of bridges on the public roads of Ukraine, according to operating conditions established in the program complex of AESUM, which is presented in accordance with the data of the current year. In conditions of limited funding and in case of unsatisfactory performance of surveys, it is possible to make the reasonable management decisions regarding the repair and the reconstruction of bridges. Keywords: bridge management system, operating condition, predicted operating condition, model of degradation, bridge survey plan, highway bridge.

Over the decades, more attention has been paid to emissions from the means of transport and the use of different fuels and combustion fuels for the operation of internal combustion engines than on fuel consumption. This, in turn, enables research into products that are said to reduce fuel consumption. The report summarizes four studies of fuel-related innovation products. The studies covered by this report are conducted with diesel fuel and usually contain diesel fuel and three additives for it. Manufacturers of additives are based on already existing studies showing a 10-30% reduction in fuel consumption. Comparative experimental studies related to the use of commercially available diesel fuel with and without the use of additives have been performed in laboratory conditions. The studies were carried out on a stationary diesel engine СМД-17КН equipped with brake КИ1368В. Repeated results were recorded, but they did not confirm the significant positive effect of additives on specific fuel consumption. In some cases, the factors affecting errors in this type of research on the effectiveness of fuel additives for commercial purposes are considered. The reasons for the positive effects of such use of additives in certain engine operating modes are also clarified.

The Turbocharger is a charge booster for internal combustion engines to ensure best engine performance at all speeds and road conditions especially at the higher load.  Random selection of turbocharger may lead to negative effects like surge and choke in the breathing of the engine. Appropriate selection or match of the turbocharger (Turbomatching) is a tedious task and expensive. But perfect match gives many distinguished advantages and it is a one time task per the engine kind. This study focuses to match the turbocharger to desired engine by simulation and on road test. The objective of work is to find the appropriateness of matching of turbochargers with trim 67 (B60J67), trim 68 (B60J68),  trim 70 (A58N70) and trim 72 (A58N72) for the TATA 497 TCIC -BS III engine. In the road-test (data-logger method) the road routes like highway and slope up were considered for evaluation. The operating conditions with respect various speeds, routes and simulated outputs were compared with the help of compressor map.

The growing global demand of energy, the decrease of petroleum reserves and the current of environmental contamination problems, make it imperative to study renewable energy sources for use in internal combustion engines, in order to decrease the dependence on fossil fuels and reduce emissions of pollutant gases. This study aimed to evaluate the emissions of a diesel-cycle engine of an agricultural tractor that uses diesel S500 (B5) mixed with 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15% of hydrous ethanol. It determined emissions of CO2 (ppm), NOx (ppm), and opacity (k value) of gases. A standard procedure was applied considering eight operating modes (M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, M7, and M8) by breaking with an electric dynamometer in a laboratory. The experimental design was completely randomized, with 60 replicates and a 6 x 8 factorial design. Greater opacity and gas emissions were observed when the engine operated with 3% ethanol, while lower emissions occurred with 12 and 15%. With these fuels, the reduction of opacity, CO2, and NOx, in relation to diesel oil, was 24.49 and 26.53%, 4.96 and 5.15%, and 6.59 and 9.70%, respectively. In conclusion, the addition of 12 and 15% ethanol in diesel oil significantly reduces engine emissions.

Modern boosted spark-ignition (SI) engines and emerging advanced compression ignition (ACI) engines operate under conditions that deviate substantially from the conditions of conventional autoignition metrics, namely the research and motor octane numbers (RON and MON). The octane index (OI) is an emerging autoignition metric based on RON and MON which was developed to better describe fuel knock resistance over a broader range of engine conditions. Prior research at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) identified that OI performs reasonably well under stoichiometric boosted conditions, but inconsistencies exist in the ability of OI to predict autoignition behavior under ACI strategies. Instead, the autoignition behavior under ACI operation was found to correlate more closely to fuel composition, suggesting fuel chemistry differences that are insensitive to the conditions of the RON and MON tests may become the dominant factor under these high efficiency operating conditions. This investigation builds on earlier work to study autoignition behavior over six pressure-temperature (PT) trajectories that correspond to a wide range of operating conditions, including boosted SI operation, partial fuel stratification (PFS), and spark-assisted compression ignition (SACI). A total of 12 different fuels were investigated, including the Co-Optima core fuels and five fuels that represent refinery-relevant blending streams. It was found that, for the ACI operating modes investigated here, the low temperature reactions dominate reactivity, similar to boosted SI operating conditions because their PT trajectories lay close to the RON trajectory. Additionally, the OI metric was found to adequately predict autoignition resistance over the PT domain, for the ACI conditions investigated here, and for fuels from different chemical families. This finding is in contrast with the prior study using a different type of ACI operation with different thermodynamic conditions, specifically a significantly higher temperature at the start of compression, illustrating that fuel response depends highly on the ACI strategy being used.

Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) have been deployed in hybrid decentralized energy systems, in which they are directly coupled to internal combustion engines (ICEs). Prior research indicated that the anode tailgas exiting the SOFC stack should be additionally exploited due to its high energy value, with typical ICE operation favoring hybridization due to matching thermodynamic conditions during operation. Consequently, extensive research has been performed, in which engines are positioned downstream the SOFC subsystem, operating in several modes of combustion, with the most prevalent being homogeneous compression ignition (HCCI) and spark ignition (SI). Experiments were performed in a 3-cylinder ICE operating in the latter modus operandi, where the anode tailgas was assimilated by mixing syngas (H2: 33.9%, CO: 15.6%, CO2: 50.5%) with three different water vapor flowrates in the engine’s intake. While increased vapor content significantly undermined engine performance, brake thermal efficiency (BTE) surpassed 34% in the best case scenario, which outperformed the majority of engines operating under similar operating conditions, as determined from the conducted literature review. Nevertheless, the best performing application was identified operating under HCCI, in which diesel reformates assimilating SOFC anode tailgas, fueled a heavy duty ICE (17:1), and gross indicated thermal efficiency ([Formula: see text]) of 48.8% was achieved, with the same engine exhibiting identical performance when operating in reactivity-controlled compression ignition (RCCI). Overall, emissions in terms of NOx and CO were minimal, especially in SI engines, while unburned hydrocarbons (UHC) were non-existent due to the absence of hydrocarbons in the assessed reformates.

The high importance of optimizing the operation of quarry transport is confirmed by the leading share of its costs in the total cost of mining. The current direction of optimization is the development and implementation of digital technologies for processing complex data on the parameters of transport vehicles. The solution of the above issues should be based on the results of scientific research on the collection and processing of information. Developed a set of techniques to perform experimental measurements of working parameters of mining dump trucks as part of a special unit experiments, and long monitoring measurements. A set of equipment for performing experimental measurements, as well as its installation on a dump truck is presented. The data of experimental measurements and a methodical approach to their analysis are presented. In particular, it shows the identification of operating modes of the power plant and the construction of the load diagram, the identification of elements of the transport cycle, etc. The approach to substantiation of innovative designs of power plants adapted to the conditions of a particular quarry is shown on the example of calculated schedules of energy consumption and reserve of recovery of braking energy. The proposed hardware-methodical complex is a research model for the development of methods for automated data collection and processing in the formation of elements of digital mining production.
