Hotel X is a hotel located in the city of Batam,  the province of the Riau Islands, which is expected to be visited by tourists on holiday  in the city of Batam. As the main means of providing comfort and health to guests, Hotel X should  plan a good clean water supply system in terms of quality, quantity, and continuity. Currently available clean water sources are limited, such that sufficient efforts must be made to recycle clean water. This research  aims to plan water savings at Hotel X using the Green Building concept in the aspect of water conservation. The concept of  this research is to recycling greywater into a second quality water source that can be used for rinsing and sprinkling water. Calculating  of water requirements,  generation of grey water wastewater refers to the Regulation of the 2017 Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Regulation, No. 4, Domestic  Wastewater  Management  System. The greywater recycling process is conducted  using biological and chemical processes. Based on the research use of recycled water research has the potential to conserve water use  amounted to 200.32 m3/ day of total water use of 313 m3/ day or the percentage of water savings of 64%.

The Cibinong Tower Mahoni Tower Apartment located in Bogor Regency is a residential residence consisting of 21 floors. Apartment development is influenced by the need for housing which continues to increase along with the rate of population growth and limited land. The impact of apartment construction will affect the availability of clean water in the future due to an increase in the need for clean water. West Java Provincial Regulation Number 13 of 2013 concerning Buildings requires developers to carry out water efficiency. Referring to the regulation, this apartment implements water conservation based on the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI) concept which aims to save water use. The research method used is the use of water-saving plumbing features which aims to find out how efficient the use of water is. Based on the results of the study, the population in the Cibinong Tower Mahoni Tower Apartment was 794 people with clean water needs of 67,366.68 l/day. The use of water-saving plumbing equipment can save water use by 6.01% or 4,060.71 l/day.

The regulations said that all domestic wastewater first should be treated before being discharged into public drainages. Therefore, IMERI building, as a research and education building located in the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia, applies a wastewater management system using activated sludge technology combined with microorganism biofilters. This system is expected to treat the waste generated inside the building. It reprocesses become recycled water and partially discharged into city drainages based on the quality standard and maintenance applied during the operation. By collecting and evaluating primary and secondary data from system planning and routine maintenance results, we assess all performance of the WWTP system. Moreover, this system runs well and has all indicators of effluent categorizes safe. However, routine maintenance and the treatment process with chlorination and tighter monitoring should be taken seriously to keep the whole system's performance.

ABSTRACT Considering the relevance of the reduction or replacement of fresh water supplies for irrigation, to mitigate the use of agricultural fertilizers and to improve sustainability, this study aimed to evaluate water and nutritional efficiency of treated sewage in cowpea plots. The experiment was conducted in the city of Tianguá-CE, on land belonging to the Water and Sewage Treatment Company of Ceará. It used a randomized block design for the arrangement of split plots. The plots contained two water sources (treated sewage and well water). The subplots contained four irrigation levels based on potential evapotranspiration (50%, 75%, 100%, and 125% of ETc) and the sub-subplots contained four nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium (NPK) levels (0%, 33%, 66%, and 99% of the nutritional recommendations for cowpea cultivation). The yield variables, number of pods per plant, bean numbers per pod, and bean production, were improved with increased irrigation, regardless of the water source. Examining NPK levels in particular, yields differed depending on the water source. The use of treated domestic wastewater for bean irrigation can replace up to 100% of commercial fertilizers.

In order to meet the application requirements of visual management and analysis of the information about recycled water use, the spatial database for the City Recycled Water Use is designed and constructed in this paper based on Geodatabase the spatial data model as well as UML and CASE as tools. The View Layer design, Concept design and Logic Design of the database of the recycled water use is explained in details. Then the application of the designed database to implement the Dianchi Lake Basin recycled water use in GIS platform is carried out and parts of the details is described in this paper.

ABSTRACTThe population growth rate in big cities such as Jakarta and its satellite cities has a correlation that is directly proportional to the level of clean water consumption. The biggest consumption of clean water is generally used for domestic household needs. However, the use of clean water is still not efficient. Therefore, the efficiency of water-saving needs to be carried out by utilizing sources that have not been optimally used, for example, greywater and rainwater. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of water usage in 3 (three) types of housing and the level of efficiency of utilization of domestic wastewater (greywater) and rainfall (CH) in reducing the use of clean water. This research was performed in the Villa Bintang Mas residential area in the City of South Tangerang, the Villa Bintang Mas residential area in the City of Depok, and the Selakopi Hijau/Forestry residential area in the City of Bogor. Data collection was conducted by a series of surveys using a questionnaire on the sample of a household. The results show that the data processing needs of clean water in three residentials range of values between ± 158.84 Liters/person/day up to ± 215.38 Liters/person/day. The level of efficiency of the utilization of greywater and rainwater in reducing the usage of clean water in three housing ranges from 21.12% to 58.47%.Keywords: Domestic Waste, the Use of Clean Water ABSTRAKTingkat pertumbuhan penduduk di kota-kota besar seperti jakarta dan kota-kota satelitnya memiliki korelasi yang berbanding lurus dengan tingkat konsumsi air bersih yang dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat. Konsumsi air bersih terbesar adalah untuk kebutuhan domestik rumah tangga. Penggunaan air bersih saat ini masih belum mengikuti kaidah efisiensi dalam penggunaannya, untuk itu efisiensi penghematan air perlu segera dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan sumber-sumber lain yang belum termanfaatkan, antara lain air limbah domestik rumah tangga (grey water) dan air hujan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui tingkat pemakaian air di 3 (tiga) tipe perumahan,serta tingkat efisiensi pemanfaatan air limbah domestik rumah tangga (grey water) serta curah hujan (CH) dalam menurunkan pemakaian air bersih. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Perumahan Villa Bintang Mas, Kota Tangerang Selatan, Perumahan Permata Depok, Kota Depok, dan Perumahan Selakopi Hijau/Kehutanan, Kota Bogor. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan cara survei menggunakan kuesioner pada rumah tangga yang menjadi sampel. Hasil pengolahan data memperlihatkan bahwa kebutuhan air bersih di tiga perumahan berkisar pada rentang nilai antara ±158,84 Liter/Orang/Hari sampai dengan ± 215.38 Liter/Orang/Hari. Tingkat efisiensi pemanfaatan grey water dan air hujan dalam mengurangi pemakaian air bersih di tiga perumahan berkisar antara 21,12% hingga 58,47%.Kata kunci: Limbah Domestik, Penggunaan Air Bersih

The Clackamas River in Oregon is a drinking water source for upwards of 300,000 people living in the Portland metro region. This river experiences seasonal low flow during the annual dry season throughout summer and early fall when endangered salmon species return to the river to spawn. This dry season also coincides with the highest period of urban water use. Since precipitation is minimal at this time, water users choose to water their lawns to make up for the lack of rain which contributes to water use tripling during the driest part of the year. To promote local water conservation, the Clackamas River Water Providers (CRWP)—who manage source water protection and public outreach and education around watershed issues, drinking water, and water conservation for the eight water providers on the river—have created a water conservation campaign that they intend to promote each dry season for the next several years. First promoted during the dry season of 2019, the messaging focuses on the flow needs of endangered salmon and asks water users to cease outdoor watering altogether. Through focus group discussion and a survey of water users, this research investigates public perception and opinion of the CRWP’s summer water conservation messaging campaign with the goal of improving the effectiveness of the messaging in future dry seasons.

Abstract This article presents an assessment of one of the earliest greywater reuse (GWR) experiences in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE). In 2003, the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) imposed a compulsory GWR program on various categories of new buildings in the city. However, implementation of the program faced significant resistance and setbacks and remained limited to about 200 buildings, representing less than 2% water savings. In the analysis presented in this study, the need for GWR was assessed through analyzing SEWA's water supply and demand projections, conducting a 12-month water use survey of 285,000 Sharjah residents from about 140 nationalities, and identifying the areas in the city with intense water use. In addition, analysis and reforms of the various aspects of SEWA's GWR reuse policies and practice were presented and discussed. Reforming the policy to increase GWR to about 10% water savings can lead to significant reductions in desalinated water consumption and wastewater generation and consequently significant reductions in desalination cost (35 million USD/y), energy consumption (225,840 MWh/year) and CO2 emissions (120 ton/year). The case study presented in the article can serve as a reference to guide GWR policies and practice, especially for local authorities in developing countries.

Household water use accounts for an important portion of water consumption. Notably, different households may behave differently regarding how water is used in everyday life. Trust and risk perception are two significant psychological factors that influence water use behavior in households. Since trust and risk perception are malleable and subject to construction, they are useful for developing effective demand management strategies and water conservation policies. The concepts of trust and risk perception are multidimensional and interconnected. Risk perception varies across social groups and is often shaped by subjective feelings toward a variety of activities, events, and technologies. Risk perception is also mediated by trust, which involves a positive expectation of an individual, an organization, and/or an institution that derives from complex processes, characteristics, and competence. Likewise, different social groups’ trust in various entities involved in household water use is subject to the significant and far-reaching impact of risk perception. The complexity of the two notions poses challenges to the measurement and exploration of their effects on household water use. In many cases, risk perception and trust can influence people’s acceptance of water sources (e.g., tap water, bottled water, recycled water, and desalinated water) and their conservation behavior (e.g., installing water-saving technologies and reducing water consumption) in household water use. Trust can affect household water use indirectly through its influence on risk perception. Moreover, trust and risk perception in household water use are neither given nor fixed; rather, they are dynamically determined by external, internal, and informational factors. A coherent, stable, transparent, and fair social and institutional structure is conducive to building trust. However, trust and risk perception differ among groups with diverse household and/or individual demographic, economic, social, and cultural characteristics. Direct information from personal experiences and, more importantly, indirect information from one’s social network, as well as from mass media and social media, play an increasingly important role in the formation and evolution of trust and risk perception, bringing a profound impact on household water use in an era of information. Future directions lie in new dynamics of risk perception and trust in the era of information explosion, the coevolution mechanism of risk perception and trust in household water use, the nuanced impacts of different types of risks (e.g., controllable and uncontrollable) on household water use, and the interactive relations of risk perception and trust across geographical contexts.

Water conservation aspect is a part of Green Building concept. In addition, to save more first clean water consumption, The X Hotel applied water conservation aspect, which are the WAC 3 (Water Recycling), WAC 4 (Alternative Water Resources), and the WAC 5 (Rainwater Harvesting) (GBCI, 2013). The plumbing installation system with water conservation aspects at X Hotel aims to distribute first class clean water, dispose of the wastewater to a treatment site with appropriate water requirements refers to SNI 03-7065-2005 X Hotel required 114,640 m3/day of first class clean water, and 91,71 m3/day of the total wastewater discharge, includes 18,35 m3/day of black water and 73,36 m3/day of gray water. The X Hotel has additional alternative sources of water condensate from air conditioner (AC) about 44,16 m3/day and 52,53 m3 of rainwater, that can be used for water closet and urinal flushing in the public area at the Hotel, after through the anaerobic – aerobic biofilter STP (Sewerage Treatment Plant) and membrane filtration unit. After the calculation, water conservation aspects application can reduce first class clean water needs with an efficiency around 10%.

The increase in population causes the need for clean water and community activities to increase and has an impact on increasing the amount of waste water produced. The amount of waste water that is generated depends on the large number of the population on the need for clean water used in every existing human activity. Domestic waste management in the Cibabat watershed area, Cimahi City is still minimal, in an effort to improve the quality of the Cibabat river and support the acceleration of pollution control in the Citarum watershed which is part of the Citarum Harum program in 2018, so a planning system for the distribution of domestic wastewater is needed Cibabat watershed, Cimahi City with the aim of producing domestic waste water that can be channeled and treated properly so that it does not pollute the aquatic environment. The method used in the planning of the domestic wastewater distribution system refers to the PUPR Regulation No. 04 of 2017 concerning guidelines for the implementation of the domestic wastewater management system. With the wastewater distribution system in the Cibabat watershed, it is hoped that it can improve the quality of water in the Cibabat River, Cimahi City in the planning period of the next 20 years. This study will determine the type of application of an effective domestic wastewater management system adapted to the existing conditions of the Cibabat watershed, Cimahi City.
