The advancement of information and communication technology have a positive and negative impacts on family ties and values. These developments also change the order of family life as the smallest unit in society. Family interaction and communication also change along with social change in society. The purposes of this study are: first, to explore the topics of conversation and interaction of adolescents with their families. Second, to depict four types of communication between adolescents and their families. This study was conducted for 6 months in 6 high schools in Bogor with qualitative methods. Data were obtained through focus group discussion (FGD) in each high school with a total of 12 FGDs. The number of informants involved in the FGD were 60 students aged 15-18 years old. The FGD results show that most of theadolescents shared their personal problems to peers than to parents. The topics presented by adolescents to parents included events at school (lessons, teachers, friends), television shows, ideals, sports, and politics. Some adolescents who had close relationships with parents did not hesitate to share their personal problems and interests of the opposite sex to their parents. Adolescents who had closeness to parents tend to be more open and were able to control their emotions. The findings of this study are expected to provide inputto the family as well as to improve the quality of communication between adolescents and parents.

Objective: This research examines positive life changes that cancer patients may experience following their diagnosis. Although cancer is often believed to have negative impacts on the life of patients, positive impacts have been also discussed empirically. This study focuses on cancer patients' appraisal of positive life changes following their diagnosis and examines how and in which fields they recognize their lives as positively changed based on the study of Petrie et al. (1999).Methods: A total of eight cancer patients in a cancer support group participated in this research. A group discussion and semistructured interviews were conducted. Content analysis was applied. Results: The content analysis produced insights into the seven types of cancer-related life changes: improved empathy, greater knowledge about health, renewed recognition of life, change in personal life priorities, greater appreciation of health and life, improved close relationships, and healthy lifestyle change. Negative life changes were also reported.Significance of the research: This research showed that cancer patients tended to find and appraise their own positive life changes following cancer. The categorization of positive life changes basically supported that of Petrie et al. (1999), but produced an original category: renewed recognition of life. Positive life changes might be seen as a natural process that encourages patients' adjustment to cancer. Understanding positive impacts of cancer could be important in capturing the life-sized features of cancer patients. Future research could expand the view of the impacts of cancer and demonstrate how people recognize them as benefits.

The irresponsible destructive fishing practices with respect to the ecosystem approach have remained a major concern since the elimination of these practices has not been easy despite efforts. There is an urgent need to identify the different types of destructive fishing methods and their threats to fisheries then, to assess how the different organizations/groups/individuals confront with these threats. This study was carried out in Pesalai, a fisheries village in the Mannar district of Northern Sri Lanka in the years 2016 and 2017. The methodology employed consists of a pre-tested structured questionnaire in the field survey with a random sample of 310 fishers and a focus group discussion was conducted where 20 fishers actively participated. The results revealed that trawling net fishing, dynamite fishing, brush pile fishing, and stake net were being used extensively by the fishers. However, the use of such gears have facilitated to catch more fish and earning a high income. Resultant, the major negative impacts were gearing damages, nets damages and net loss. It is apparently found that, the majority of fisheries (93%) had faith in fisher community organizations (fisheries co-op society, the church/father and women welfare society) in terms of resolving conflicts which were raised by destructive fisheries (wrangling, argument and dissension) while 7% of the respondents have faith in the state to resolve conflicts. The fisheries believed that, the government supports for fishing activities was not well required. Hence, it is strongly concluded that the Regulations should be enforced, as a joint effort between the department of fisheries and community organizations.

Title: The Impact of the Cement Industry to the Livelihood System of Bayah Fishers The existence of cement industry in Bayah Sub-district is like two sides of the same coin, it has a positive and negative impacts for the surrounding community, especially on the livelihood of Bayah fishers. This study aims to describe the livelihood conditions of fishers before and after the cement industry exists in their village as well as to identify adaptation strategies to ensure the sustainability of fishers livelihoods. The study used descriptive qualitative method involving fishers as the key informant. Data were collected through questionnaires, in-depth interviews, FGD, and field observations. Results showed that the existence of cement industry (PT. Cemindo Gemilang) in Bayah Sub-district brought about a series of change toward ecological and socio-economic life of the fishers. Ecological change led to shifting of catchment areas, changes in the availability of fisheries product as their major capital, increased costs of access to resources, and implications toward household incomes. Uncertainty of income was frequently solved by varying livelihoods, and it was one of strategies that has been implemented by Bayah fishers even before the cement industry exists. However, the existence of cement industry has created job opportunity in non-fishery sector such as factory workers and dock porters. Adaptation strategies to ensure the sustainability of their livelihood are: diversification of sources of income, diversification of fishing gear, relocation of fishing area and empowerment of social relationship.

Child marriage is defined as a marriage before the age of 18. In many countries, a significant number of girls still marry before the age of 18. The country governments and international communities are increasingly aware of the negative impacts of child marriages, but the actions to end the practice is still limited. Child marriage threatens particularly girls’ lives and health, and it limits their future prospects. Early marriages are not considered as a "problem" by the majority of the society where as it is a phenomenon that has been existing for long years in our country. It is observed that one of the most important sources of legitimacy of marriage is public accord and these marriages are realized mostly in the framework of this accord. Patriarchal and traditional social structure have unfortunately normalized and legitimized early marriages. It is necessary to hold meetings to create and develop awareness for implementation of Turkish Civil Code, Turkish Penal Code and Law on Protection of Minors. It will be therefore possible to ensure that children, families and people understand what kind of problems and penal responsibilities that early marriage of children constitutes Child marriage is a problem that prevents the exercise of human rights, undermines the status of women and deprive child from their main rights including especially the education. Their marriages are a field that must be struggled with in Turkey targeting social gender equality.
