Referring to Ministerial Regulation of PAN-RB No. 16 of 2009 on Teacher Functional Status and Credit Score, it is clearly mentioned that one of the key components to apply teacher promotion is scientific writing (KTI). However, in fact, it was found that many teachers were independently constrained, especially in Sibolga City. As a result, the chance to get a higher rank and to be placed would be hampered. In addition, even some teachers are caught up in taking shortcuts by using the third part services to prepare their scientific writing, which of course, are not acceptable in publication ethics and academic values. In line with the results of preliminary observations made by the team, it was noticed that the teachers writing ability can be improved by providing them writing coaching class, including explanations and even training materials that need to be used in scientific writing. This writing coaching class is intended to provide teachers an opportunity to develop their skills, especially skill to write down scientific papers. Writing coaching class will be done by encouraging teachers to compose their ideas, formulating their problems, obtaining references sources, providing consultation rooms, implementing ethics and scientific publishing regulation, and selecting places where scientific papers will be published.

JFT is required to be able to produce scientific papers to support the Credit Score (AK). However, scientific papers produced are still relatively minimal, due to the lack of competence in writing scientific papers. The purpose of this study is to analyze the needs in writing scientific papers by JFT in East Kalimantan Province. This type of research is quantitative with data collection techniques through surveys using an online questionnaire. The research respondents consisted of lecturers, widyaiswara, and researchers. Data were analyzed descriptively using a frequency table. 24.2% of respondents stated that the biggest obstacle in scientific writing is the preparation of design research, preparation of research instruments (21.1%), determining research method (27.6%), the collection and data processing (12.7%), and conducting data analysis and drawing conclusions (8.3%). The need for developing scientific writing capacity for JFT is a competency-based training and hands-on practice, building a scientific writing innovation, and utilizing writings from senior researchers how to write a scientific journal. Keywords: Competency Improvement, Scientific Writing, Specialized Functional Officer ABSTRAK Pemangku Jabatan Fungsional Tertentu (JFT) disyaratkan harus mampu menghasilkan karya tulis ilmiah agar dapat menunjang penambahan Angka Kredit (AK). Abstract This presentation will emphasize the importance of plain, good writing. Editors of high impact journals read 10 or more manuscripts per week, and are under pressure to reject 80-90% of them. Regardless of scholarly quality, if the point and contribution are not clear in a quick scan of the paper, it likely will not be reviewed favorably. I will provide tips for strong scientific writing that are commonly violated in manuscript submissions, and provide references for additional writing support. I will also discuss some common publication ethics issues that arise during the review process, including author contributions and embedding your scholarship in the context of prior work.

The study is aimed at developing the Idea Listing Technique (ILT) to enhance the students‟ writing ability. The Classroom Action Research was applied in this study. The subjects of the study were 31 students, the students taking the course of Writing II, of the third semester of English Department of one State Islamic College at Palangka Raya, Indonesia, in the 2012/2013 academic year. The findings show that the implementation of ILT can enhance the students‟ ability in writing expository paragraph. It is indicated by the enhancements of the percentage of the students achieving the score greater than or equal to C (60-69), and of the percentage of their involvement in the writing activities during the implementation of ILT in Cycle I and II. Thus, the enhancement of the students‟ ability in writing expository paragraph can be reached but it should follow the appropriate procedures of the implementation of ILT having been developed. Keywords: Idea Listing Technique, Writing Ability, Paragraph Writing, Expository Paragraph

This study was conducted to develop evaluation instruments for scientific writing instruction with a constructivism approach. The development of evaluation instruments is important to provide valid and reliable measurement to measure the success rate of scientific writing instruction with a constructivism approach. In order to achieve these objectives, the combined models of development, i.e. 4D and RDR were used. The implementation of the development consisted of four stages, namely the preliminary study, define, design, and product development. The research data were in the form of quantitative and qualitative data and the data sources were the students, lecturers, practitioners, and experts in relevant fields of study. Data analysis technique was the domain technique and t test statistical technique for related samples. Based on the results, the obtained development product in the form of the evaluation of the instruction of writing scientific papers were valid and reliable. The development product consisted of four types of evaluation devices, the assessment rubrics, portfolios, observation sheets, and learning journal. Based on the results of the four development products, the effectiveness test was valid and reliable so that it can be used to conduct evaluation of learning to write scientific papers with constructivism approach, both for the evaluation of the process and the evaluation of the learning outcomes.

Abstract We compute a presentation of the fundamental group of a higher-rank graph using a coloured graph description of higher-rank graphs developed by the third author. We compute the fundamental groups of several examples from the literature. Our results fit naturally into the suite of known geometrical results about higher-rank graphs when we show that the abelianization of the fundamental group is the homology group. We end with a calculation which gives a non-standard presentation of the fundamental group of the Klein bottle to the one normally found in the literature.

Scientific writing is a way for someone to put the concept of thinking in written form so that other people can understand what is being thought. Students are the next generations who have idealism in thinking that needs to be nurtured. The purpose of this study was to improve the scientific writ-ing of students through Collaborative Learning by utilizing blended learn-ing technology. The research method used is action research, using collabo-rative learning that is applied in learning to write scientific paper. The stu-dents are expected to have logical thinking aspects, data objectivity, vocab-ulary mastery, use of Enhanced Spelling (EYD), use of effective sentences, and paragraph development. It can be concluded that collaborative learning can improve the ability to write scientific articles because in collaborative learning students are very active, motivated and always intrigued by their hearts and minds to solve problems faced in the same group and they can compete competitively, and motivate other students to achieve the maxi-mum learning outcomes
