Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang kajian etnobotani pada masyarakat Blang Bungong kecamatan Tangse Kabupaten Pidie-Aceh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menginventarisasi pemanfaatan tanaman obat oleh masyarakat Desa Blang Bungong di kabupaten Pidie Aceh. Tujuan khusus dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis tanaman yang digunakan, bagian yang digunakan, cara menggunakan tumbuhan, cara mendapatkan, serta penyakit yang diobati. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), yaitu proses penilaian yang berorientasi pada keterlibatan dan peran masyarakat dalam penelitian. Sampel penelitian ini adalah dukun tradisional, dan masyarakat Blang Bungong. Tumbuhan yang digunakan sebagai obat oleh masyarakat Blang Bungong sebanyak 25 spesies yang tersebar dalam 19 famili. Bagian tumbuhan yang paling sering digunakan adalah daun. Tumbuhan obat didapatkan masyarakat berasal dari tumbuham liar dan budidaya. Penyakit diobati umumnya adalah penyakit ringan seperti flu, demam dan batuk. The ethnobotanical study has been conducted in Blang Bungong community, Tangse, Pidie-Aceh. This research aimed to identify and collect the utilization of medicinal plant by people in Blang Bungong, Pidie Aceh. This research was conducted especially to evaluate the type of plant, part of the plant, how to use the plant, how to collect the plant and the diseases that were treated. The method used was the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method, the assessment process that is oriented to the involvement and role of the community in research. The sample of this study was the traditional shaman and Blang Bungong community. There were 25 species of 19 families of plants that have been used by Blang Bungong community. The part of the plant that most often used was a leaf. People collected medicinal plants from wild plants and cultivation

Penggunaan tumbuhan sebagai obat telah lama digunakan oleh masyarakat Indonesia, terutama masyarakat yang tinggal di pedesaan. Pengetahuan pemanfaatan tumbuhan obat di wariskan secara turun temurun. Seiring dengan perkembangan waktu, kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan dan ilmu teknologi, telah meningkatkan penggunaan tumbuhan obat. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui cara masyarakat di Kabupaten Pidiekhususnya di Kecamatan Keumala dalam memanfaatkan tumbuhan obat. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal), yaitu proses pengkajian yang berorientasi pada keterlibatan dan peran masyarakat secara aktif dalam penelitian yang dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan observasi. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara diketahui bahwa terdapat 8 spesies tumbuhan obatyang berasal dari family Zingiberaceae yang digunakan sebagai tanaman obat oleh masyarakat Pidie.Spesies tersebut antara lain Temulasi, Temulawak, Halia, Halia Merah, Boh Rangkueh, Boh Cuko, Kunyet Molay, dan Kunyet, yang semuanya berstatus di budidayakan. Bagian yang digunakan adalah Rimpang. Diharapkan penelitian ini berpotensi untuk menemukan jenis tanaman obat baru (bioprospecting) yang bermanfaat bagi farmasi dalam rangka peningkatan kesehatan masyarakat luas.   The utilization of medicinal plant has long been conducted by Indonesian people, especially people who live in rural areas. Knowledge of the use of medicinal plants started from generation to generation. Along with the development of science and technology, the utilization of medicinal plants has increased. The research aimed to find out how the people in Pidie Regency, especially in Keumala District, use medicinal plants. The method used is the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method, which is an assessment process that is oriented to the involvement and active role of the community in research which data collection through interviews and observations. Based on the results of interviews, there were 8 species of medicinal plants from family Zingiberaceae were used as medicinal plants by the Pidie community. These include Temulasi, Temulawak, Halia, Halia Merah, Boh Rangkueh, Boh Cuko, Kunyet Molay, and Kunyet, all of them were cultivated plants. The part used was Rhizome. The potential medicinal plants in pharmacy to improve public health could be discovered through this research.

ABSTRACT Presently the community tends to avoid the use of modern medicine and turn to nature (back to nuture) with traditional medicine using medicinal plants. The exploration of medicinal plant used in traditional medicine in Pidie District aims to explore the potential of plant species used, record the plant parts used, how to process and to use the plants and how to obtain them from the nature habitat. The method used for data collection is exploratory surveys and Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) methods. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively and showed in the form of tables and images. The results of the study found 106 types of plants used in traditional medicine that were spread into 67 plant families. The most widely used of medicinal plant species were from the Zingiberaceae family. The most widely used plant part is the leaf part. The method of medicinal processing is done by boiling (decoction), the results of the ingredients are used as oral administration by drinks. Generally, the plants used for medicine by the people of Pidie Distric are wild plants, and 68% of which grow from home gardens and  fields. ABSTRAK Kecenderungan masyarakat saat ini mulai menolak penggunaan obat moderen dan beralih ke alam (back to nuture) dengan pengobatan tradisional menggunakan tumbuhan obat. Ekspolarsi jenis tumbuhan obat yang digunakan dalam pengobatan tradisonal di Kabupaten Pidie bertujuan untuk menggali potensi jenis tumbuhan yang digunakan, mendata bagian yang digunakan, cara pengolahan dan penggunaan tumbuhan serta cara mendapatkannya dari alam. Metode yang dilakukan dalam pengumpulan data adalah survey eksploratif dan Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA). Data yang diperoleh dianalisa secara deskriptif dan ditampilkan dalam bentuk tabel dan gambar. Hasil penelitian didapatkan 106 spesies tumbuhan obat yang digunakan dalam pengobatan tradisional yang berasal dari 67 famili.  Spesies tumbuhan obat yang paling banyak digunakan di wilayah Pidie berasal dari famili Zingiberaceae. Bagian tumbuhan obat yang paling banyak digunakan adalah bagian daun. Cara pengolahan tumbuhan obat secara umum dilakukan dengan perebusan, hasil ramuan digunakan dalam bentuk minuman. Secara umum  tumbuhan yang digunakan untuk obat oleh masyarakat Kabupaten Pidie adalah jenis tumbuhan liar, dan  sebanyak 68% tumbuh dari pekarangan rumah maupun kebun atau ladang.

The Manggarai tribe who lives in the mountainous area of Ndoso Subdistrict is one of the tribes that still preserve the traditional culture to use natural resources, especially for plants as traditional medicines. Inheritance of knowledge about medicinal plants is very limited because of the media to deliver the information rely on the communication from parents to children and grandchildren to the generations in the family. Therefore, it is necessary to study about ethnobotany of medicinal plants in this community and determine the types of plants used to make traditional medicine. The methods of this research are the exploratory survey method and the PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal) approach. It is an assessment process that has an orientation to the involvement of the community in this research. The few steps in this study including survey, observation, interview, documentation, collection, identification and preservation by herbarium. There are 89 species of medicinal plants referring to 46 families of medicinal plants that are commonly used. The Manggarai people use wild plants found in the field, forest, and riverbank, and some are even deliberately cultivated. The method of processing medicinal plants commonly used is by boiled, chewed and patched, scraped, twisted, crushed, and without being processed.AbstrakSuku Manggarai yang bermukim pada kawasan pegunungan di Kecamatan Ndoso merupakan salah satu suku yang masih mempertahankan adat dan tradisi dalam penggunaan sumber daya alam khususnya tumbuhan sebagai obat tradisional. Pewarisan pengetahuan tentang tumbuhan obat tersebut dilakukan  terbatas penyampaian lisan dari orang tua kepada anak dan cucu secara turun temurun dalam keluarga. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan penelitian tentang studi etnobotani tumbuhan obat oleh masyarakat Suku Manggarai yang bermukim pada kawasan pegunungan di Kecamatan Ndoso yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis tumbuhan apa saja yang digunakan, bagian tumbuhan yang digunakan dan untuk mengetahui bagaimana cara pengolahan tumbuhan obat tradisional. Metode yang digunakan adalah dengan metode survey eksploratif dan dengan pendekatan metode PRA (Participactory Rural Appraisal) yaitu proses pengkajian yang berorentasi pada keterlibatan dan peran masyarakat secara aktif dalam penelitian. Tahapan pada penelitian ini meliputi survey, observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi tumbuhan, koleksi tumbuhan, identifikasi dan pembuatan herbarium. Diperoleh sebanyak 89 spesies tumbuhan obat yang tergolong kedalam 46 famili tumbuhan obat yang biasa dimanfaatkan. Cara memperoleh tumbuhan obat yang biasa digunakan masyarakat Suku Manggarai adalah memanfaatkan tumbuhan liar yang terdapat di pekarangan rumah, hutan serta pinggir sungai bahkan ada juga yang sengaja dibudidayakan. Cara pengolahan tumbuhan obat yang biasa digunakan adalah dengan cara direbus, dikunyah lalu ditempel, diparut, diseduh, diremas, ditumbuk, dan tanpa diolah.Kata Kunci: Etnobotani, Tumbuhan Obat, Suku Manggarai

This study aimed to assess the local economic empowerment based on halal principles in Sembalun, a village within the circumference of Rinjani, the newly-designated world geopark by UNESCO.  The descriptive qualitative method was chosen to analyze the data. The Participatory Rural Appraisal was used as an instrument to identify the expectations of the economy of local community. The study showed that local economic empowerment could be developed in several ways as follows: 1) Halal food initiative through increasing community participation and skills, involving institutions, providing intensive assistance, and increasing the role of community and institution in creating cooperation; 2) Worship facility improvement through increasing quality and maintenance of available worship facilities; 3) Services during Ramadan by improving the community and institutional capacity as well as delivering information to tourism operators and visitors; 4) Supporting facilities upgrading through increasing the numbers of water-friendly toilets both in quantity and quality; 5) Halal activities enrichment by eliminating non-halal activities and promote halal activities only; 6) Privacy leisure facilities and services provision through increasing institutional and community capacity in providing privacy leisure facilities and services as well as developing cooperation with stakeholders.

Local communities in Aceh Tamiang have gained a wealth of medicinal knowledge through practice and experience in their long-term battles with the disease. However, because of a lack of written records and rapid economic development, their traditional medicinal knowledge is under threat. This study investigated medicinal plants and related traditional knowledge of local communities in the Sekerak subdistrict, Aceh Taming, Indonesia. Field surveys, plant collections, and interviews with communities were used in this study. The Snowball Sampling technique was used to select 60 informants for the interviews. A total of 46 medicinal plant species belonging to 40 genera and 26 families were used for medicinal purposes by local communities to treat 28 different diseases. The itch, swelling, cough, and nosebleed were the most commonly treated. With a use-value index of 0.98, Tagetes erecta was the most commonly used medicinal plant by local communities. In addition, local communities identified the leaf (50%) as the most widely used plant part and oral administration (65%) as the most common method of administering traditional medicine. Elders have more knowledge of medicinal plants than younger generations, indicating that traditional knowledge is eroding across generations. However, initiatives to promote and conserve medicinal plants must be improved, particularly among the younger generation. This is required to ensure the availability of medicinal plants and the preservation of traditional knowledge in the future.

Despite the fact that Mexico has vast biocultural biodiversity, there are numerous regions where the traditional medicinal use of plants has not yet been studied. We aimed to document, analyze quantitatively, and preserve medicinal plant knowledge among local people living in over 40 communities in the state of Zacatecas. Ethnobotanical information was collected by semistructured interviews with 132 informants. Data were analyzed using standard quantitative indices such as relative frequency of citation, family importance value, cultural importance index, and informant consensus factor. We recorded 168 medicinal plant taxa belonging to 151 genera and 69 botanical families and used to treat 99 health disorders. The most medicinally important plant families were Asteraceae (20 species), followed by Fabaceae and Lamiaceae (12 species) and Cactaceae (five species). The most culturally important species was <em>Matricaria chamomilla</em> L., mentioned 140 times, followed by <em>Arnica montana</em> L. (62 times) and <em>Artemisia ludoviciana</em> Nutt (48 times). The highest consensus for use was for diseases of the reproductive system. The type of disorder for which there was the highest number of references for use (389; 25% of all uses) and plant species (67) were diseases of the digestive and gastrointestinal system. The present study represents the first quantitative medical-ethnobotanical documentation and analysis of the traditional use of medicinal plants in Zacatecas state. Despite the semiarid climate, this region is botanically highly diverse, and its flora have versatile medicinal uses.

Majority of people in developing countries rely on Traditional Medical Practitioners (TMPs) or herbalist, hunters and community elders for the treatments of various diseases and illness due to their vast knowledge of medicinal plant usage. There is need to protect the flora and fauna and also the knowledge database often stored in the memories of elders, ancestral and traditional healers. Ethnobotanical study of medicinal plants used in the treatment of cough was carried out in Akinyele Local Government with the aim to document plants and indigenous knowledge of local people in the treatment of cough. Eight villages were selected purposively due to the relics of forest in those villages. The villages are Ijaye, Onidundu, Otunagbakin, Moniya, Idi- ose, Apapa, Aroro and Olanla. Respondents were stratified into 2 strata in each of the villages, namely Traditional Medical Practitioners (TMPs) or herbalist and hunters. Within each stratum, a random selection of 10 respondents were carried out thereby making 20 respondents in each village and total number of  160 respondents as sample size. Semi structured questionnaire was used to obtain information from the respondents. The interview was conducted one-on-one using the local language (Yoruba). The data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics. The result showed that a total number of 16 plants belonging to 13 families were recorded and enumerated along with their botanical name, family and local name. Information on methods of preparation of the recipes, plant part used, form in which plant part is used, mode of administration, dosage and shelf life were also documented. There is need for domestication and conservation of these plants to prevent their extinction. The bioactive compound in some of these plants can be synthesized together to produce conventional drugs for cough. Further studies should also be carried out on these plant species to obtain more information on their bioactive properties.

Incomplete coverage of the modern medical system, shortage of pharmaceuticals, and unaffordable prices of modern drugs, make the majority of Ethiopians still depend on traditional plant medicine. Therefore, this study is aimed to assess the current status of indigenous knowledge of traditional plant medicine used among communities of Won chi District. Method: A total of 198 informants (27 key and 171 general) were selected purposively based on the availability of key informants and vegetation richness of the District. semi-structured interview, observation, and guided field walk with informants were data collection methods. Ethnobotanical scoring and ranking methods like informant consensus, paired-wise comparison, and preference ranking were used to analyze the collected data. The findings were displayed using tables and figures. Result: A total of 93 medicinal plant species were identified. Out of these,50 species (53.76%)were noted to treat only human ailments, 3(2.23%) species were used to treat livestock ailments and the rest 40 (43.01%) were used to treat both. Nearly two-thirds of the study participants have good knowledge about traditional plant medicine use. most medicinal plants were reported by elders (94.62%) than younger age group, traditional medicinal plant healers almost know all (96.77%), regarding religion waqefata (60.21%) know than other religion. More medicinal plants were reported by males (86.02%)than females, while regarding educational status illiterate (61.29%)know and mention more Medicinal plants than literate. Therefore, all stakeholders should work together in changing the current situation in order to sustainably benefit from traditional plant medicine.

<p>The level of community recognition of medicinal plants in the Peusangan Selatan district of Bireun Regency is still low and has not been scientifically validated. This study aims to know about the community knowledge in used plant as traditional medicine. The method used in data collection is Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and observation techniques. Inter-views were conducted semi-structurally based on a number of questionnaires. Collection of plant specimens is taken di-rectly from the location of growth assisted by the respondent or community. Primary data obtained from interviews were tabulated and  then  analyzed descriptively and presented In tables and figures. The results of the study obtained 23 species of medicinal plants that were grouped into 13 family. The most of plant used are from the  ingiberaceae and Apiaceae. Percentage of plant species that are often used based on community knowledge are Curcuma longa, Carica papaya, Jatropa curcas, Lowsoniaenermis.</p>

Objective: The present work deals in collecting information about the medicinal plant species used for the treatment of diabetes by the traditional healers in the urban areas of Khurda districts of Odisha and identification as well as documentation of these species. Methods: Extensive field survey was conducted in the study area; information about plants were collected from local herbal practitioners, village elders, patients, and traditional healers through normal conversations, interviews, and discussion. Results: During survey, 40 medicinal plant species belonging to 36 genera and 25 families were identified and documented having antidiabetic activity. Most of the species were trees (47.5%) followed by shrubs (32.5%) and herbs (20%). It was observed that among all the parts, generally leaves were mostly used. During this survey work, Gymnema sylvestre paid the attention and found as the most common species used by traditional healers. Conclusion: From the current findings, it was concluded that medicinal plants have the potential to replace the synthetic drugs which are restricted by their efficiency and side effects.
