There Nahiv is one of the most important branches of the Arabic language. In history, there have been many scholars who have been trained in this field and have produced extremely valuable works. One of the scholars who have a great place and importance in the science of Nahiv is undoubtedly Ibn Dehhan en-Nahvi. Ibn Dehhan en-Nahvî (d.569), despite his value in nahiv and his great contribution to this science, İbn Dehhan is unfortunately not recognized enough. The number of scientific studies that provide information about him, just as in the world is almost non-existent in Turkey. He has recovered the appreciation of the scholars of his time for his scientific value. İn fact, because of his depth in nahiv science he was called “Sibeveyh of nahiv science”. He generally discussed the controversial and difficult subjects of nahiv science. Since this nahiv scholar was one of the leading sixth-century nativists and his name was mentioned in many languages and nahiv books, as well as the frequent mention of his name and works in biography sources, we deemed it necessary to consider his life and his scientific personality in our study. Thus we hope that it will to the recognition of this scholar and his scholarly personality who has a major role in the field of Arabic language and grammar.

كان من أهم الآثار الإيجابية للصحوة الإسلامية التى عمت العالم الإسلامى بشكل ملحوظ منذ أوائل السبعينيات فى القرن العشرين زيادة إقبال الشعوب الإسلامية على تعلم اللغة العربية، وبدأ الاهتمام الحقيقى لجامعات العالم الإسلامى بتوفير مساقات متخصصة لهذا الغرض منذ أوائل الثمانينات، وكانت الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية بماليزيا التى أسست سنة 1983 من أنشط الجامعات فى هذا الصدد، وهو نشاط استلفت نظر الباحث إذ وجده يستحق الرصد والتوثيق العلمى، والمراجعة إذا اقتضت الضرورة لا بهدف الإشادة بالتجربة بل رغبة فى الإفادة والاستفادة من قبل المختصين من المهتمين بهذا الميدان الحيوى من ميادين خدمة اللغة العربية بل خدمة الإسلام، وحضارته نظرا للارتباط الوثيق بين اللغة العربية وهذا الدين الحنيف باعتبارها لغة كتابه الخالد، والمعلم الرئيس من معالم الهوية الإسلامية المميزة والصمود الحضارى.*****************************************************One of the most positive effects of the Islamic awakening since the early seventies, in the twentieth century, which spread across the Islamic world in a significant manner, has been the increased Muslims’ interest in learning the Arabic language all over the world. There began a real interest in the universities of the Muslim world for the Arabic language by providing specialized courses for this purpose since the early eighties and the International Islamic University Malaysia established in 1983 has been the most active university in this regard. And this activity of the university drew the interest of the researcher who found it worthy of investigation and scientific documentation as well as of revision, if necessary, not in order to pay tribute to the experience, but for taking advantage and learning from specialists interested in this vital field of the fields of Arabic language service which is actually service of Islam and its civilization considering the strong connection between Islam and the Arabic language, the language of the Qur’Én , the most distinctive feature of Islamic identity and resilience of Islamic civilization.

To Professor E. R. Dodds, through his edition of Euripides'Bacchaeand again inThe Greeks and the Irrational, we owe an awareness of new possibilities in our understanding of Greek literature and of the world that produced it. No small part of that awareness was due to Professor Dodds' masterly and tactful use of comparative ethnographic material to throw light on the relation between literature and social institutions in ancient Greece. It is in the hope that something of my own debt to him may be conveyed that this paper is offered here, equally in gratitude, admiration and affection. The working out of the anger of Achilles in theIliadbegins with a great scene of divine supplication in which Thetis prevails upon Zeus to change the course of things before Troy in order to restore honour to Achilles; it ends with another, human act in which Priam supplicates Achilles to abandon his vengeful treatment of the dead body of Hector and restore it for a ransom. The first half of theOdysseyhinges about another supplication scene of crucial significance, Odysseus' supplication of Arete and Alkinoos on Scherie. Aeschylus and Euripides both wrote plays called simplySuppliants, and two cases of a breach of the rights of suppliants, the cases of the coup of Kylon and that of Pausanias, the one dating from the mid-sixth century, the other from around 470 B.C. or soon after, played a dominant role in the diplomatic propaganda of the Spartans and Athenians on the eve of the Peloponnesian War.

In attempting to present some observations on the kind of information on the Earth’s resources which may be obtained from spacecraft and space satellites, I think I should explain that I speak as a geographer with research interests in the field of biogeography/geobotany where I have been concerned with the use of vegetation in mineral exploration work and in the assessment of land potential for agricultural and other uses. In the course of this work I have come to appreciate major problems of regional or even continental dimensions and have become aware of the great potential offered by suitably equipped Earth resources satellites for providing information which would assist their solution. At the same time I have come to recognize the great contribution which Earth resources satellites can make in the fields of agriculture, forestry and conservation, topographical and geological mapping, hydrology, oceanography, land use and urban planning, to mention but a few. As a setting for my subsequent remarks I would like to state what I believe to be the relative positions of the U. S. A. and the U. S. S. R. on the one hand and this country and certain West European countries on the other with regard to the acquisition of information from Earth resources satellites. America and Russia have led the world in space research. They have the resources, the facilities and the technical know-how for placing spacecraft and satellites in orbit. For the effective development of Earth resources satellites, however, ground control information is essential. Here this country, together with member and former member countries of the Commonwealth possesses a body of people scattered through universities, government departments and organizations, commerce and industry whose firsthand knowledge of remote terrain in many parts of the world is unrivalled. This knowledge harnessed into an Earth resources satellites programme could enable this country to make a leading contribution to the development of the less developed parts of the world and at the same time materially assist the economy of this country.

Too broad understanding of the term stress, which Selye himself and his followers used in their popular science works, reduces its scientific value. Based on a brief analysis of examples of the ambiguity of the term stress, it is proposed to restore its research significance. For that, the concept of stress should be used more strictly and unequivocally and it would not be allowed to use a commonly broad understanding the term in scientific papers. In the frame of earlier Selyes stress definition, it suggests a more detailed structuring of the term based on levels of studying of living objects, including genetic.

Today information resources in Arabic Language are very much useful to the researchers and community of the world. Resources in Arabic language in Kerala, is scattered in various places like libraries attached to Islamic Institutions, kuthb khanas, madrassas, masjids, personal libraries of scholars, and Arabic Colleges. It includes manuscripts, copper plates and digital resources. It should be bibliographically controlled, digitized and preserved for the benefit of future generation. Most of them are concentrated in Malappuram District where muslims are more populated. ALT and ICT will help us to complete this tedious task. It will open a new window to the wide area of information studies and research. The work will be a great help to research scholars, students at various levels, faculties of Arabic departments, academicians and the community as a whole.
