Conventional teaching about the law of conservation of mechanical energy (LCME) often results with students trying to solve problems by remembering similar problems they already covered in classes. Consequently, many students fail to transfer their knowledge to simplest real-life problems. Therefore, a pre-test – post-test quasi-experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of an alternative, system-based approach to teaching about LCME. The study included 70 upper-secondary students from the First Bosniak Gymnasium Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Firstly, all students learned about energy in a conventional way. Then they wrote a test on LCME and had three additional hours of teaching about this topic, where one group of students learned in line with the forces-variant of the system approach (e.g., discussing conservative and non-conservative forces) and the other group with the process-variant of the same approach (e.g., discussing system’s states and processes like in thermodynamics). For both variants, only three hours of system-based teaching proved to substantially improve the students’ level of LCME understanding compared to the level of understanding they had after conventional teaching. It follows that the system approach may work well at the upper-secondary level, if it is introduced through the scaffolding-and-fading technique. The Bahasa Melayu question paper is divided into two papers ( Paper 1 and Paper 2), with both papers require written essay responses. The literature section is the part of the questions that students are required to answer in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exam. There are 13 marks awarded for 4 questions, two of them are questions in the form of KBAT. The aim of this study was to improve secondary school students' skills in writing KBAT answers using drill method. In addition, the researchers compared students' responses to four parts of the questions in the literature section of Bahasa Melayu Paper 2 (1103/2) before and after the drilling method. This study used a qualitative approach in the form of a case study (document analysis). In data collection, 5 classes in Maahad Control were subjected to pre-test and post-test. The study revealed that the pre-test scores of 10 students randomly taken from 5 classes, 3 of them were at the weak level and 7 students were at intermediate level. However, after 6 drilling sessions, the researcher found that the performance of the students improved in the post-test. 2 students reached an intermediate level and 8 students reached a good level in answering literature questions. This proves that students trained with drill method mastered the techniques of answer writing due to the influence of answer discussion which highlights the key words in each question. Meanwhile, teachers still need to guide students on punctuation and the use of appropriate cohesive devices in each part of the answer.

Scientific literacy skill is a key factor for overcoming real-life problems, but scientific literacy learning in schools has not been well trained. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of Problem Based Learning (PBL) in improving students scientific literacy skills and scientific attitudes. This research was part of research and development, with the Dick & Carey model. The research trial used one group pre-test and post-test design on 29 students of  XI IPA 1 class in SMAN 5 Banjarmasin. The instruments of data collection were a scientific literacy test and scientific attitude questionnaires. Data were analyzed by the n-gain equation. The results showed that the n-gain score of students scientific literacy and scientific attitudes were 0.55 and 0.57; it means the increase was in moderate criteria. Therefore, PBL is effective to improve students scientific literacy skills and scientific attitudes.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah 1) mendeskripsikan keefektifan model quantum teaching dengan media video animasi pada kelompok eksperimen dalam keterampilan menulis cerpen siswa kelas XI, 2) mendeskripsikan keefektifan model konvensional dengan media video animasi pada kelompok kontrol dalam keterampilan menulis cerpen siswa kelas XI. Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu desain Nonequivalent Control Group dengan metode eksperimen semu. Sampel penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas XI MIPA 4 dan siswa kelas XI MIPA 5 di SMA Negeri 5 Purwokerto. Data yang digunakan dalam peneliian ini yaitu pretest dan posttest masing-masing kelas. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa 1) model quantum teaching dengan media video animasi efektif digunakan dalam keterampilan menulis cerpen dengan sig. 0,000 <0,05, 2) model konvensional dengan media video animasi efektif digunakan dalam keterampilan menulis cerpen dengan sig. 0,097 >0,05. Media video animasi lebih efektif digunakan apabila bersamaan dengan model quantum teaching karena menunjukkan signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05 yang berarti Ha diterima, Ho ditolak terdapat perbedaan. Kata kunci: keterampilan menulis, teks cerpen, model quantum teaching, media video animasi.   ABSTRACT This study is aimed to 1) describe the effectiveness of quantum teaching model by using animation video as media to experiment group in the writing skill of creating short story for students grade XI, 2) to describe the effectiveness of conventional model by using animation video to control group in the writing skill of creating short story for students grade XI. The present study was categorized as quasi-experiment with Nonequivalent Control Group. The sample of the study was the students of grade XI MIPA 4 and students of grade XI MIPA 5 in SMA Negeri 5 Purwokerto. The data employed in the study was the score of pre-test and post-test of each class. The result showed that 1) Quantum teaching model by using animation video was effective to be used on writing short story  by sig. 0.000 <0.05, 2) Conventional teaching model by using animation video was effective on writing short story by sig. 0.097 >0.05, 2. Animation video as media is more effective when it is used along with quantum teaching model for it shows the significance of 0.000 < 0.05 which means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Students’ associating their knowledge with daily life demonstrates great significance in terms of understanding the importance of topics they learn in school as well as knowing where and how they are used in their daily life. In this context, teachers who will reflect these relationships in learning environments must have sufficient knowledge and experience. In this research, it was aimed to investigate the effects of teaching applications with real life content on the levels of pre-service teachers' abilities to associate daily life with astronomy and electrical learning topics. The sample consisted of totally 30 fourth class students who were at the department of Science Teaching in the Faculty of Education. In the research, astronomy and electrical learning topics were chosen and activities based on real life problems in these were applied. The data gathered were based on the effects of these activities. The research was conducted following an experimental design and data were collected applying the pre-post test pattern. The data were collected through open-ended questionnaires related to the use of learning topics in daily life. As a result, it was found that the levels of associating the learning topics with daily life were nearly doubled in the field of electrical and astronomy learning topics.

This paper presents a pedagogical experiment with parallel groups through which the effectiveness of the cognitive apprenticeship model of dealing with the teaching topic Carboxylic acids and their derivatives was compared with the traditional approach to the elaboration of this topic. This experiment featured the participation of 241 students aged 17, attending their third year of grammar school, natural sciences stream. The experimental group consisted of 118 students, whereas the control group was made up of 123 students. Within the framework of the experiment, a pre-test consisting of items that resembled regular textbook items was used as an instrument for checking how balanced the previously acquired knowledge concerning the teaching topic Carboxylic acids and their derivatives of the students in the two groups was. A post-test was used as an instrument for comparing the effectiveness of the two approaches, and it mostly consisted of items that required the application of the knowledge concerning the teaching topic Carboxylic acids and their derivatives in solving real-life problems. In the pre-test, no statistically significant difference in the overall percentage of correct answers given by the two groups of students was established. In the post-test, the students from the experimental group scored a statistically significant higher percentage of correct answers compared to the students from the control group. On the basis of this, it can be concluded that the applied cognitive apprenticeship approach has the potential to improve the level of students’ understanding of the concepts from the topic Carboxylic acids and their derivatives, as well as the students’ ability to apply the knowledge on the examples from real life.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan berpikir divergen bahasa Indonesia antara kelompok siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran learning cycle 5E berbasis brainstorming dan kelompok siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu (quasi experiment) dengan rancangan post-test only control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI di SMA Kecamatan Mangaran  Kabupaten Situbondo yang berjumlah yang berjumlah 200 orang. Sampel penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas XI IPA 1 MA Nurush Sholeh yang berjumlah 22 orang dan siswa kelas XI IPA 1 MA Miskyatul Ulum  yang berjumlah 22 orang. Pada kelas eksperimen diterapkan model pembelajaran learning cycle 5e berbasis brainstorming dan pada kelas kontrol diterapkan model pembelajaran konvensional. berdasarkan perhitungan uji hipotesis yang mengacu pada ketentuan pengambilan keputusan uji hipotesis, dikatakan bahwa Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan kemampuan divergen  antara siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran Learning Cycle dengan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran yang menggunakan model pembelajaran Konvensional  pada siswa kelas XI MA Nhurush Sholeh dan MA Miskyatul Ulum  Kecamatan Mangaran  Situbondo tahun pelajaran 2017/2018 dengan Thitung > Ttabel yaitu 6,67 > 2,02 pada taraf siginifikan α (0,05).

This is an Action Research of using the Story Jumper as an E-book to improve the reading comprehension among Year 4 pupils in one of the primary schools in Malaysia. The participants involved were twenty pupils consisting of seven males and thirteen females. Three data collection methods employed were pre-test and post-test, pupils’ work and teacher’s reflective journal. The findings showed that the use of E-book had increased the level of understanding in reading comprehension among the research participants. The mean for the pre-test and post-test had increased from 45.83 to 93.33. The pupils’ work indicated positive improvements in terms of their level of understanding and responses in reading. It was also found from the reflective journal that the research participants had participated actively in the learning process and their level of motivation was also increased. The implication is to use E-book in the teaching of reading skills among the primary school learners.

Life Review Therapy merupakanterapi psikoterapi untuk menyelesaikan masalah pada lansia yang mengalami depresi, mengekspresikan perasaan yang disupresikan sehingga energy psikis tersebut dilepaskan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh Life Review Therapy terhadap tingkat depresi lansia pada warga binaan sosial di PSTW Budi Mulia Jakarta Selatan.Metode yang digunakan adalah quasi experiment, dengan pendekatan Pre Test and Post Test Without Control design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah lansia dengan jumlah sampel 20 orang dengan teknik purposivesampling. Analisis data menggunakan Paired T Test dengan tingkat signifikan (α0,05). Hasil menunjukan bahwa ada pengaruh Life Review Therapy terhadap tingkat depresi lansiadengan ρValue=0,000. Berdasarkan penelitian tersebut, terapi Life Reviewterbukti dapat menurunkan tingkat depresi sehingga terapi ini dapat dijadikan salah satu acuan terapi untuk menangani depresi pada lansia di PSTW

Latar belakang: Kondisi sasaran pencapaian Indonesia Sehat 2015 dari program MDG’s yang belum tercapai, sehingga dilanjutkan dengan program SDGs menjadikan Indonesia harus banyak berperan dalam semua kegiatan khsusnya di bidang kesehatan. Proses pencapaian cakupan program kesehatan sangat dipengaruhi oleh Health education yang dilakukan petugas kesehatan kepada warga, kesehatan masyarakat. Tujuan: Penelitain ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perubahan perilaku hidup bersih sehat yang  dilaksanakan warga setelah diberikan intervesi health education.  Metode: Metode penelitian dilaksanakan secara quasi experiment pre dan post test.  Teknik mengambil sampel secara purposive Sampling pada 30 reponden kelompook intervensi dan 26 responden kelompok kontrol. Analisa data dilakukan secara paired t test. Hasil: Hasil di dapat ada perbedaan yang bermakna antara pengetahuan dan perubahan perilaku hidup bersih sehat repsonden sebelum dan sesudah diberi penyuluhan p value = 0,000. Saran: Diharapkan pemerintah setempat menggerakkan petugas kesehatan bersama-sama dengan warga melakukan perilaku hidup bersih sehat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dengan memfasilitasi  sarana penunjang untuk menjalankan perilaku hidup bersih sehat, dengan maksimal pada warga. Kata kunci: Health eduation,  Perilaku Hidup Bersih Sehat
