The view of high school students about fungi Abstract: The present study is aimed to investigate the perceptions of graduating high school students on fungi. Choosing this target audience is justified because they may provide evidence of the possible contributions of science education regarding the teaching of mycology, once the student is about to conclude basic education. It is important to underline that the research was developed in the city of Diadema, São Paulo state, Brazil, where 305 students from public and private schools were engaged by answering a research survey on the subject. The analysis of the results showed that most students have a negative view of fungi, and they associate them mostly with disease-causing organisms and show little knowledge of the ecological and economic importance of these beings. Another clear association that comprises the students' perception is the misconception that fungi are bacteria, and that there are no differences between these organisms. It is also possible to consider that for a significant part of the students it is not easy or natural to talk about fungi, which clearly shows the lack of familiarity and knowledge on the subject. Therefore, it is expected that the results of the present research will motivate and contribute to discussions aimed to improve the quality of Biology education in schools, especially when the subject in question is fungi. Keywords: Fungi; Mycology teaching; High school; Students Perception; Public Understanding of Science.

The necessity of the moral education of students of high school students as an initiation to the values of which are in the teacher-written cultural and educational space. Amended scientific understanding of the concept of educational space and proved that the substantive content of the notion of cultural and educational space gets through the involvement of the term culture. The essence of cultural and educational space of the university lies in its multi-dimensionality, which is expressed in infinity broadcast through the channels of education and training culture as the experience of, the experience of spiritual and practical development of the world in the moral experience moral, value relationships according to the criterion limit it (experience) of the base (value of a person), by which the subject-object, object-subject and subject-subject relations are optional. The content of the cultural and educational space, formed the subject-object and subject-subject relationship, the relationship between them becomes dialectical by the object-subject relationship in which there are values that are axiological nucleus of activity, axiological form of culture. Determine the purpose of the subject-object and subject-subject relations as the content of the image of cultural and educational space, and on the basis of this mission revealed features of pedagogical activity of the teacher conducting the moral education of students: to provide storage, reproduction, broadcast culture as the experience of concluded (experience) in ostensive, imperative, axiological forms of culture, its forms-principles; organization of the work of students with cultural forms; student organization ascent from axiological forms of culture its forms-principles; transfer of experience of spiritual and practical development of morality in the world, the experience of behavior and activity, experience, moral, value relations.

AbstractThis chapter details FGV’s contributions to basic education during the pandemic. FGV created in 2003 an accessible tool that addresses the managerial gaps that schools and education departments face to evaluate and assess its students, called FGV High School. Since March 2020, when school closures took place, the rapid demand for digital education tools placed FGV High School in an advantageous position to establish partnerships with education departments across Brazil, benefiting millions of high school students. In the state of São Paulo alone, the FGV High School platform gives access to approximately 3.5 million students. In 2008, FGV became a member of Open Education Global (OEG), a consortium of educational institutions from different countries that provide online content and teaching materials free of charge. Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the demand for FGV’s online courses has substantially increased. In March 2020 alone, the program’s website registered more than 1.6 million hits, and the number has since then consistently increased. Additionally, FGV has recently created two policy centers that focus on basic education: The Center for Excellence and Innovation in Education Policy (CEIPE), created in 2016, and the Center for the Development of Public Management and Educational Policy (DGPE), in 2018. Since the beginning of the pandemic, both centers have organized a series of webinars and publications to support policymakers in the education sector to make better decisions regarding reopening of schools, online and digital education options, curriculum, etc. The high number of views and engagement that the FGV webinars attract reflects the desire for reliable information that education professionals have been seeking, despite the overwhelming number of online events that have surfaced with the pandemic.

ABSTRACTThis paper studies the construction of the notion of "good life" of young students of a high school as a result of the exchange of material and symbolic resources to members of their personal networks. In this research, the actors and their actions are treated as interdependent, so the relational ties between actors influence how young people construct their notion of good life and plan their future. The proposed study is based on the concept of personal networks in which the network is considered from the point of view of the subject, in this of young high school students who lived in a marginal urban area of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. Contacto principal: [email protected]

Although the government provides free education, poverty is one of Filipino students' most common challenges in their pursuit of basic education. To overcome financial constraints and to be self-sufficient while studying, high school students choose to find errands. In Toledo City, Cebu, Philippines, thirty-one public high school students working part-time were studied to find answers if there was a link between time management, self-efficacy, and academic performance, specifically, assessing the respondents' math performance, using the adopted survey questionnaire. The results revealed that they performed satisfactorily in math while practicing moderate time management and having moderate self-efficacy in the subject. There was no significant relationship between time management and math performance; however, self-efficacy and math performance had a significant weak positive correlation. As a result, teachers are encouraged to create programs that boost students' self-efficacy and time management abilities. It is strongly suggested that time management skills are integrated into the subjects to form and promote students' positive reactions. From the theoretical point of view, once the competencies have been learned and practiced, students are expected to manage, strive for, and fulfill their life objectives more effectively.

Financial literacy is a combination of financial knowledge, attitudes and behaviors, key for making informed decisions and for solving financial problems. This descriptive study explored the applied, conceptual and procedural financial knowledge of 243 Mexican students via three financial knowledge tests. In addition, these students were surveyed about their financial behavior, their attitudes towards money, and their experience with money using a self-report questionnaire. The study aims to identify financial-education needs and gaps between school levels and systems. Therefore, the analysis focuses on the differences and similarities between two subgroups: (1) students in public and in private education, and between (2) middle school (ages 12 to 15) and high school students (ages 15 to 18). Middle school and high school students differed significantly only in their conceptual knowledge and in their financial experience, while public and private students showed statistical significant differences on their financial knowledge, behavior, attitudes and experience.
