This study generally aimed to determine the level of cultural practices and academic performance of the Blaan pupils in Sinapulan Elementary School, Sinapulan, Columbio, Sultan Kudarat. Moreover, it was intended to find out which of these practices are still prevalent. The study employed the descriptive method of research. The researchers utilized a self-formulated survey questionnaire which was validated and approved by a panel of experts. The same underwent tests of validity and reliability. The statistical tools utilized in the study were mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA and correlation. Majority of the respondents were males, whose parents were elementary graduates. The extent of cultural practices as perceived by Blaan pupils was Highly Evident. Their level of academic performance was Satisfactory. There was a significant relationship between the pupils’ extent of cultural practices and their academic performance. There were no significant differences in their academic performances as to gender, age, parents’ educational attainment and monthly family income.

Academic performance determines the quality and standard of efficiency and effectiveness of an educational system. The Research Forum Presentation Philippines' Approach to Assessment of the 21st Century Skills Assessment Curriculum and Technology Research Center (ACTRC) stressed that learners need to acquire 21st-century skills. To address this concern, the Philippines, through its educational agencies, including the Department of Education (DepEd) for the elementary school learners, has merged the learning approach in developing the 21st-century skills through the K to12 education reform agenda.  Through its Bureau of Educational Assessment, DepEd has worked to define the skills and determine the opportunities of public elementary school learners of Bacolod City during the School Year 2019-2020. Likewise, it explores the relationship between the predictors of learners' academic performance using the demographic, such as age, sex, birth order, family living condition, monthly family income, nutritional status, and the level of academic performance of the learners in a public elementary school.

This study dealt on how I improved the academic performance of my learners on the topic of separating mixtures at Rizal Central Elementary School, Kapatagan, Digos City for the school year 2020-2021. Guide cards, activity cards, assessment cards, enrichment cards and reference cards comprised the Strategic Intervention Material (SIM) entitled “Go and Separate” which was used as a form of remediation. The material covers one of the least-learned competencies in Science VI, Quarter I which is “enumerate techniques in separating mixtures such as decantation, evaporation, filtering, sieving, distillation, and using magnet” and for this study, decantation and evaporation were focused. The data collection was performed using pretest, posttest, and perception survey questionnaire. It was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. It was concluded that based on the outcomes of the study, the use of Strategic Intervention Material (SIM) has contributed meaningfully to the academic performance of the learners. It was also perceived that the participants exhibited enthusiasm and enjoyed the use of Strategic Intervention Material (SIM) through their positive responses based on their answers on perception survey questionnaire.

The Difference

The study is about the difference of Private and Public elementary school graduates. The type of elementary school in which a person graduated from is a factor that can affect their future academic performance; it can also be a factor for schools in choosing which student to accept in their community. It also test and shows the quality of the teachers in both types of school. The researchers conducted the study to verify if there was an actual difference on the academic performance of the graduates on each of the two types of elementary school. The researchers believe that the results of this study will be beneficial to a lot of people especially students and teachers. The researchers collected, compared, and interpret the grades of students of both public school graduates and private school graduates. The gathered data are test using different statistical tools and formulas. This study found out that there is a significant difference between public school graduates and private school graduates in terms of academic performance.

The purpose of current study was to explore the effect of digital literacy on academic performance of the students at higher education level. The study was mixed method and data were gathered with a questionnaire and semistructured interviews. The validity and reliability of the scales were ensured through experts' opinion, pilot testing and Croanbach Alpha score. The population comprised the students of M.S/M.Phil and Ph.D. A sample of 800 students was selected randomly from 10 Universities. The statistical tests like mean, standard deviation and correlation were used. Results revealed that digital literacy had significant effects on communication skills, research skills and confidence of the students and insignificant effect on students' CGPA.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the influence of utilization of online past examination papers on academic performance of IT students at Jomo Kenyatta University.Methodology: Descriptive survey research design was used in this study. Respondents were the 105 undergraduate students in Information Technology Department and 2 librarians in Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology-Eldoret Campus. They were sampled using stratified sampling, while Head of library and the library staff in charge of e-resources in JKUAT Eldoret Campus were purposively included in the study. Primary data was collected from students using closed-ended questionnaires, while interview guide was used on librarians. To ensure validity and reliability, pre-testing of research instruments was done on 20 undergraduate students of Mount Kenya university-Eldoret Campus in the department of Information Technology. D Descriptive statistics such as mean, percentage, frequencies and standard deviation, SPSS (version 22) was used in analysing data. Univariate and multiple regression analysis were used to test the hypothesis and overall model respectively. The results were presented using tables and explanations.Results: There is a positive and significant relationship between online past examination papers and academic performance of IT undergraduate students of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology - Eldoret Campus. The study had a normal mean of 4.7 and standard deviation of 0.58. The online past examination papers had R estimation of 0.715. The P estimation of constant was significant (.000), consequently R square value was used. The R square estimation of 0.711 inferred that online past assessment papers anticipated 71.1% of the fluctuation in the academic performance. It had a beta of 0.504 at p<0.012.Unique contribution to theory, policy and practice: This study reports positive and significant relationship between online past examination papers and academic performance. The study recommends that more policies be developed so as to enable students to access diverse examinations papers, not only from JKUAT library, but also government examination bodies such as Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC). This will improve university students’ research skills and enhance their academic performance. The study contributes to the theory by acknowledging that an undergraduate student will always weigh various online electronic resources available based on their applicability to the student’s academic needs. If they suit their needs, the student will continue to utilize them further but when the needs are not met, the student stops utilizing the online past examination papers.

Purpose: Knowledge is fundamental to helping children make nutritional choices that support lifelong healthy behaviours. This study (i) investigates elementary school children’s knowledge about food and nutrition and (ii) identifies sociodemographic factors influencing children’s reported knowledge. Methods: In 2017–2019, a survey was administered to 2443 students (grades 5–8) at 60 schools across southwestern Ontario, Canada, and a parent survey was used to validate self-reported sociodemographics. Multiple regression was used to analyse children’s knowledge scores and related sociodemographic factors. A total knowledge score was calculated by summing correct responses derived from 46 individual questions in the student survey. Results: Mean total knowledge score was 29.2 out of a possible 46 points (63.5% correct). Students demonstrated some knowledge and awareness of strategies to encourage fruit and vegetable consumption, healthy food selection, nutrition, and food preparation skills, although knowledge of food guide recommendations and locally sourced produce were limited. Female sex, family income, and rurality were associated with higher knowledge scores. Conclusions: Results provide insight regarding strengths and gaps in elementary-school children’s food and nutrition knowledge. Poor performance of students on specific food guide-related questions suggests that the general guidance of the 2019 Canada’s Food Guide might be better understood by children and adolescents.
