Health status investigation of shing (Heteropneustes fossilis) was carried out through clinical and histopathological observations. During four months from January 2018 to April 2018. The data were collected from eight fish farms. Clinical signs of fish were physical deformity, reddish whitish lesions, abrasion and reduced mucus in the months of January and February from the investigated fish farms. Clinically fish were almost normal in the months of March and April. Histopathlogically observed pathological changes in gill were lamellar missing, splitted gill lamellae, hemorrhage, hypertrophy, vaccums and presence of parasites in January and February. In case of liver the examined fish had hemorrhage, vaccums, necrosis and fat bodies also in the months of January and February. Organs of the examined fishes were almost normal in the months of March and April. The purpose of the study was to determine the health status of farmed shing. The main objectives of the study were to observe clinical and histopathological changes in liver and gill of farmed shing (H. fossilis) at various fish farms of Mymensingh region and to determine the health status of the shing in the investigated months. From the present study, it was found that external organs like gill were more affected compared to internal organ like liver. From the present investigation, it was also observed that the fish were more affected in the months of January and February i.e. in winter season. Res. Agric., Livest. A study was carried out for a period for four months from January to April 2019 in eight fish farms at Mymensingh region of Bangladesh. The principal objectives were to study the health status of gulsha in four months from eight farms in Mymensingh region as well as month wise pathological changes of various organs of gulsha through clinical and histopathological observations. Clinical signs of fish were reddish lesion and mild injured in different parts of body, abrasion, whitish spots etc. Gills of fish showed more pathological changes than skin, muscle and liver. Histopathologically, gills of all fish species were more affected in Nuha Aqua Farm than other seven fish farms of Mymensingh in January and February. General gill pathology of the fishes was lamellar missing, haemorrhage and hypertrophy. Pathology of skin and muscle of the fishes from different farms included epidermal missing, necrosis, vacuum and loss of muscle. Fat bodies, necrosis, vacuum and haemorrhage were the common pathology of liver in the fishes from sampled farms of Mymensingh. Mainly fat bodies, vacuum and necrosis were found in Sharnalata Agro Fisheries, Relience Aqua Farm, Nuha Aqua Farm and Manju Aqua Farm. On the contrary, haemorrhage and necrosis were noticed in Chan Mia Fish Farm, Fish Seed Multiplication Farm; Maskanda and Setu Hatchery and Aquaculture in Tarakanda. In the months of March and April different organs of gulsha fish like gill, skin, muscle and liver were recorded almost normal structure from sampled fish farms. Fish were found to be affected during colder months of January and February. But, during March and April most of the fish were found normal and healthy. From field and laboratory observations it was revealed that the study area had potentiality for gulsha culture, although necessary measures need to be taken especially during winter season. Res. Abstract: In order to understand better the pathological aspects and spread of Pasteurella multocida type A as the primary cause of pneumonia in pigs, was made an experiment with intranasal inoculation of different concentrations of inocula [Group (G1): 108 Colony Forming Units (CFU)/ml; G2: 107 CFU/ml; G3: 106 CFU/ml and G4: 105 CFU/ml], using two pigs per group. The pigs were obtained from a high health status herd. Pigs were monitored clinically for 4 days and subsequently necropsied. All pigs had clinical signs and lesions associated with respiratory disease. Dyspnoea and hyperthermia were the main clinical signs observed. Suppurative cranioventral bronchopneumonia, in some cases associated with necrosuppurative pleuropneumonia, fibrinous pericarditis and pleuritic, were the most frequent types of lesion found. The disease evolved with septicaemia, characterized by septic infarctions in the liver and spleen, with the detection of P. multocida type A. In this study, P. multocida type A strain #11246 was the primary agent of fibrinous pleuritis and suppurative cranioventral bronchopneumonia, pericarditis and septicaemia in the pigs. All concentrations of inoculum used (105-108 CFU/ml) were able to produce clinical and pathological changes of pneumonia, pleuritis, pericarditis and septicemia in challenged animals.

An experiment was carried out to investigate the health status of Hypophthalmichthys molitrix among three different fish farms at Mymensingh district of Bangladesh. Fish sampling and water quality parameters were collected on a monthly basis. Samples of skin, muscle, gills, liver and kidney were examined through histological technique. Results from water quality parameters suggested that water temperature had a distinct effect on fish health of H. molitrix, which was mostly evident during the colder months. Infectious symptoms were usually evident in July to October and the severity of pathology was increased in November and December. These were evident from their clinical signs that include scale loss, haemorrhagic lesion, and reddish spots or from their histopathological symptoms such as necrosis, pyknosis, inflammation, haemorrhage, hypertrophy, missing of gill lamellae, vacuums, tubular and pillar cells degeneration, inflammation, clubbing, and suspected bacterial colonies. Results suggest that the health condition of the fishes from BAU fish farm was the best over the other two farms, whereas Government fish farm followed by NGO fish farm were severely affected with EUS, protozoan and bacterial infection. Moreover, internal organs like liver and kidney were more affected than skin, muscle and gills.

The synthetic pyrethroid, cypermethrin toxicity was studied in fresh water fish 'Heteropneustes fossilis and the tissues like gill and liver were chosen for Histopathological effects by light microscopy, for 4 days and 7 days under sublethal concentrations. No Histopathological effects were observed in control group and 4 days group. Hence 7 days group was selected for the present study. Significant changes in Hepatic cells of liver were observed like cloudy swelling of hepatocytes, vacuolour degeneration, and dilation of sinusoids, Hepatic lesions, and Karyo Lexis. In Gill, oedema, Epithelial lining, curling of lamellae were observed. This study demonstrates the potential of electron microscopy in particular SEM, as a tool for detecting cypermethrin induced damage to liver and surface of gill lamellae.

Nowadays, the ileitis (proliferative enteropathy of pigs) is one of the most common gastrointestinal diseases. The intracellular bacterium Lawsonia intracelluaris causes several forms of the disease. Histological examinations are the important stages in diagnosing and detecting profound pathological changes in sick pig organs, decreasing their productivity and causing the deaths. Swine proliferative enteropathy (SPE) has reported for the Ukraine since 2008. For SPE the early diagnostics with different test systems is relevant. We evaluated the sick, forcibly killed and dead piglets of different ages in Ukrainian pig farms during 2018-2019 in animal fattening groups. Materials were taken from piglets aged 120-150 days in farms where the ileitis was diagnosed. To assess the complex of pathological and anatomical changes detected during autopsies of piglets, V.P. Shishkov’s methods were used. Thus, we revealed a characteristic morphology of proliferative lesions. We believed that the histological examination can serve as an important diagnostic method and an alternative to direct isolation of Lawsonia intracellularis, which is very difficult to cultivate. We determined that the histopathological changes in pig organs indicated a chronic effect caused by animal pathogen. We revealed that Lawsonia intracellularis caused the profound pathological changes in pig digestive tracts, which affected the functioning of all organs and tissues of animals and lead to severe disease and possible animal death. We suggested that the histological examination is an important step in diagnosing and detecting profound pathological changes in the organs of sick pigs, which caused the decrease in their productivity and deaths.

This study was undertaken to investigate the cause of mortality in the captive stock of silver moony Monodactylus argenteus. The fishes showed severe infection of dinoflagellate protozoan Amyloodinium sp. (Blastodinida, Oodiniaceae) on gills and skin with complete mortality of the stock within a week. Histopathological changes were evident in the gill tissues with severe lamellar epithelial cell hyperplasia and lamellar fusions with the presence of trophonts of Amyloodinium sp. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) also revealed trophonts of Amyloodinium sp. of varying sizes in groups consisting of 3 to 5 trophonts tightly attached to gill lamellae. Source water contaminated with the tiny infectious form of the parasite (dinospores) favoured by higher salinity and low water temperature in the rearing tank could be the triggering factor for the spurt of infections. Proper quarantine and biosecurity protocols to prevent the potential sources of water-borne infection sources are likely to be far more effective than treatment.

The study was conducted to investigate the status of cattle diseases with relation to seasonal variation in Dinajpur district of Bangladesh. A total of 11402 clinical cases were registered for the clinical diagnosis and therapeutic purposes at sadar upazila veterinary hospital in Dinajpur district of Bangladesh during the period of March, 2016 to February, 2017. Disease diagnosis was made on the basis of owner’s statement, general examination and clinical signs. Diagnosed diseases were categorized as general clinical disorders, parasitic diseases, viral diseases, bacterial diseases, venereal disease, and metabolic disorders. According to study the highest (64.15%) prevalence was by parasitic disease followed by bacterial diseases (10.67%), viral diseases (8.97%), metabolic disease (7.61%), and venereal disease (6.60%). In respect of seasons, the prevalence of both bacterial diseases and viral diseases were significantly (p<0.01) higher (13.88%) and (12.10%) in summer season respectively. Whereas the parasitic diseases were significantly (p<0.01) higher (68.65%) in winter season. On the basis of season, it was found that the overall prevalence of diseases was highest in summer season (47.87%) followed by rainy season (30.10%) and comparatively lower in winter season (22.03%).Asian J. Background: Gallstone is a very common gastrointestinal disorder. It is known to produce histopathological changes in the gallbladder. It is also one of the predisposing factors for the development of cancer of gallbladder. Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective study carried out in the Department of Histopathology, B and B Hospital during a period of 1 year from April 2010 to May 2011. The study included 396 cases of cholecystectomy specimens. Results: On gross examination, outer gallbladder surface was congested in 116 patients (28%), wall thickness was increased in 181 (45.7%) and mucosal abnormalities were present in 126 (31.6%) patients. At microscopy, epithelial hyperplasia was observed in 183 (46.2%), intestinal metaplasia in 112 (28.2%), dysplasia in 5 (1.3%) and cholesterolosis in 56 (14%) patients. Conclusion: The pathological changes of the gallbladder epithelium may play an important role in the process of gallstone formation. AbstractThe present study tested the susceptibility and pathological changes of catla, Catla catla (Hamilton) infected with Edwardsiella tarda (ET-PG-29). The bacterium was isolated from the kidney of a diseased pangas catfish. To determine the median lethal dose (LD50), C. catla were challenged with this bacterium (108-103CFU ml-1), and the LD50was calculated as 105.5CFU ml-1. Another set of healthy C. catla were injected intraperitoneally with the LD50dose to induce edwardsiellosis. The clinical signs of the infected C. catla were observed and recorded. Tissues such as kidney, liver, intestine, heart, and gill from the infected fish with clinical signs of edwardsiellosis were used for histopathology. The clinical and gross signs were first visible at 1 d post-injection, and the infected fish showed typical signs of hemorrhagic septicemia. The most striking histopathological features were found in the kidney which showed multi-focal necrosis with the formation of granuloma indicating an inflammatory response against the pathogen. The intestine displayed goblet cell hyperplasia, the liver showed hydropic degeneration with hyperemic central veins, and there was inflammation of gill lamellae and cardiac myositis associated with leucocyte infiltration. Collectively, the results confirmed the susceptibility of C. catla to E. tarda infection and that this bacterium is a threat to C. catla in aquaculture practices.

Mycoplasma bovis is a critical bovine pathogen, but its pathogenesis remains poorly understood. Here, the virulent HB0801 (P1) and attenuated HB0801-P150 (P150) strains of M. bovis were used to explore the potential pathogenesis and effect of induced immunity from calves’ differential transcriptomes post infection. Nine one-month-old male calves were infected with P1, P150, or mock-infected with medium and euthanized at 60 days post-infection. Calves in P1 group exhibited other clinical signs and pathological changes compared to the other two groups. Transcriptome profiles of peripheral blood mononuclear cells revealed seven and 10 hub differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in P1 and P150 groups compared with mock-infected group, respectively. Then, P1-induced pathogenesis was predicted to be associated with enhanced Th17, and P150-induced immunity with Th1 response and expression of ubiquitination-associated enzymes. Association analysis showed that 14 and 11 DEGs were positively and negatively correlated with pathological changes, respectively. Furthermore, up-regulated expression in molecules critical to differentiation of pathogenic Th17 cells in lung and peripheral blood mononuclear cells in P1 group was validated at RNA and protein levels. The results confirmed virulent and attenuated strains might be associated with biased differentiation of pro-inflammatory pathogenic Th17 and Th1 subsets respectively.
