Actualization of scientific issues of control in the context of reforming the structure and content of higher education is gaining new importance. This is due to the higher dynamism and student-centered character of modern education. An urgent scientific and applied problem of modern physical education in higher education institutions is the substantiation of a systematic approach to training students swimming that will take into account existing experience and modern requirements. The purpose of the study was to substantiate the control subsystem in the training students swimming in higher education institutions during physical education. Results and discussion. The control subsystem for the most aspects is management by a higher order system due to the close relationship with the control source, placement trends and the objectivity benefits. This subsystem is the basis for the differentiation of parts and at the same time for integration with the establishment of the organic unity of the whole system components. The key requirement for conducting control in the physical education condition in higher education institution is compliance with the specifics of the sport means as a variable component of the education content. Specific features of swimming have an important value for choosing complex of indicators. In the theoretical substantiation of control, there was observed requirements that are specified in the scientific and methodical literature. Among them are: availability of interval scale, reliability, validity, discriminativeness, availability of normative data, adaptability of the test, ease of execution and simplicity, limitation of test tasks, operationalization and verification of these tests / control exercises). It also takes into account a number of additional requirements for simplicity and low resource costs, regardless of the level of tests complexity, clarity and accessibility for teacher and student, conciseness and accuracy of execution instructions, the absence of external stimuli. Conclusion. Control is a fundamental element of conscious systemic human activity. The result of solving the generalized purpose of the system should be understood, accepted and acceptable to all participants of this process. Substantiation of the control subsystem of the training swimming system involves the formulation of a new category of individually-oriented content of control of students of higher education institutions and its variants. These variants must be built taking into account objective factors (the presence of different groups of students on the level of swimming preparedness, individual-motivational orientation of activity and trajectory of goal setting in the system of training swimming during physical education)

The article reveals the peculiarities of the use of athletics to improve the physical fitness of students of higher education institutions. The influence of physical education on motivation for athletics is also revealed. It is established that the use of means and methods of athletics in physical education classes in higher education institutions leads to a significant increase in the level of physical fitness. It was found that one of the factors influencing the growth of student morbidity and low level of their physical development is the lack of physical activity. The combination of these factors determines the level of physical fitness and efficiency, which, in turn, are important indicators of professional training of students. However, the use of other methods of strength development, the method of unsatisfactory efforts with a normalized number of repetitions, the method of unsatisfactory efforts with the maximum number of repetitions, the method of dynamic efforts, the shock method, the method of static efforts, the static-dynamic method, the method of circular training, the game method has a beneficial effect on the development of all physical qualities. The decrease in the indicators of general physical fitness is facilitated by the fact that during the holidays, students practically do not go in for sports on their own. As the analysis of the survey has shown, only students of higher educational institutions are independently engaged in physical culture.

Among the many competences to determine the readiness level of specialist in the field of physical culture and sport sphere (FCS), the most important include those which constitute psychological readiness. We have developed and implemented a new structural-functional approach to the study and formation of psychological readiness. The practice of training specialists in the physical culture and sports sphere dictates the need to supplement the variety of competences reflected in Russia’s federal standards with superprofessional competences in order to achieve full psychological readiness of the specialist. We present a complex model of competences embedded in the structural components of psychological readiness – cognitive, motivational, operational, value-moral, reflexive. Structural and functional analysis of the model by the method of "competent judges" – employers allowed us to assess the functional significance of each competence in each of the components of readiness for the main specialties of the physical culture and sports sphere. The results of the study revealed a specific and differentiated influence of individual competences on the level of psychological readiness of graduates and specialists of different specialisations of a sports higher education institution.

The article seeks to discuss the issues of internationalization for higher education institutions that arose with the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, in particular, the suspension of both student and staff academic mobility. However, academic mobility is the fundamental premise for the internationalization of higher education where students who cross borders with the desire to change their lives and the strive for better prospects are the most critical element of this mobility. The mobility of all the education process participants has become an important driver in ensuring and promoting education transparency and the access to quality education for everyone. In fact, within the past six months, prospective students are increasingly changing their intentions to study abroad, or defer their enrolment plans for subsequent years. The aim of this paper is to explore possible solutions for further implementation of internationalization principles into all university's activities framework under the quarantine and post-quarantine period. The research findings from the in-depth analysis of a range of higher education institution performances have revealed that one of the most promising areas to enhance university internationalization is a shift from actual to virtual mobility which is based on communication within the information and educational environment. In particular, the design of new competitive online courses in English and their large-scale promotion on the international market is another priority objective for internationalization during the quarantine. Apparently, University positioning in a virtual environment is a crucial factor to build attractiveness and competitiveness of higher education institutions in the global settings.
