Indonesia is one of the largest rice producing countries in the world. In rural areas, the majority of the population has a livelihood as rice farmers. Being a farmer also has several obstacles, one of which is the attack of planthopper on rice plants. This makes the yield less optimal. Farmers must be vigilant from the outset against planthopper pests. Onward with the development of technology, farmers can use information technology as a learning tool to detect planthopper pests early and control them. The result of the development of information technology that every community uses and owns is an Android-based smartphone. For this reason, with the socialization of the application of early detection of planthopper pests and their control using biological agents can help farmers in managing rice plants. The app is made based on Android, so farmers can install the application into a smartphone to detect planthopper pests. Whereas for the control of planthopper pests selected using Biological Agent, because Biological Agents are a safer way to control planthopper pests than using pesticides. By utilizing Android applications and biological agents, farmers are expected to get maximum yields. Keywords—: Rice; Wereng Pest; Socialization;  Biological Agents.

Schistosomiasis is a chronic neglected tropical disease saddling millions of people in the world, mainly children living in poor rural areas. Praziquantel (PZQ) is currently the only drug used for the treatment and control of this disease. However, the extensive use of this drug has brought concern about the emergence of PZQ-resistance/tolerance by Schistosoma mansoni. Studies of Schistosoma spp. genome, transcriptome, and proteome are crucial to better understand this situation. In this in vitro study, we compare the proteomes of a S. mansoni variant strain stably resistant to PZQ and isogenic to its fully susceptible parental counterpart, identifying proteins from male and female adult parasites of PZQ-resistant and PZQ-susceptible strains, exposed and not exposed to PZQ. A total of 60 Schistosoma spp. proteins were identified, some of which present or absent in either strain, which may putatively be involved in the PZQ-resistance phenomenon. These proteins were present in adult parasites not exposed to PZQ, but some of them disappeared when these adult parasites were exposed to the drug. Understanding the development of PZQ-resistance in S. mansoni is crucial to prolong the efficacy of the current drug and develop markers for monitoring the potential emergence of drug resistance.

Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) are a common health problem and require an efficient campaign to be eradicated from tropical countries. Almost a million people die of NTDs every year in the world, and almost forty percent of the patients are under 20 years. Mass Drug Administration (MDA) is an effective tool for eradication of this health condition. However, a monitoring system is required to evaluate treatment-response and early detection of the re-emerging NTD. The relevance of current tests depends on good quality of the specimen. Thus, new molecular methods with high sensitivity and specificity are required. In this review, we focus on microRNAs (miRNAs) as biomarkers of NTDs through a narrative review on human research. We searched for reliable search engines using a systematical literature review algorithm and included studies that fit the criterion. Five NTDs (lymphatic filariasis, onchocerciasis, schistosomiasis, soil-transmitted helminthiases, and trachoma) were set as our target diseases. Later on, the data were extracted and classified as monitoring response and early detection. Four miRNAs were studied in filariasis as a monitoring response. There were 12 miRNAs related to onchocerciasis infection, and 6 miRNAs with schistosomiasis infection. Six miRNAs showed a link to soil-transmitted helminths. Only 3 miRNAs correlated with trachoma infection. In conclusion, circulating miR is a less invasive and promising approach to evaluate NTDs. Further field study may translate those candidate miRs to clinical application of the prevention and control of NTDs.

Candida auris is an emerging multidrug-resistant fungal pathogen. Since first reported in 2009, C. auris has caused healthcare outbreaks around the world, often involving high mortality. Identification of C. auris has been a major challenge as many common conventional laboratory methods cannot accurately detect it. Early detection and implementation of infection control practices can prevent its spread. The aim of this review is to describe recommendations for the detection and control of C. auris in healthcare settings.

Around the world, debates over how to manage and adapt to bushfires (or wildfires) are increasingly prominent as more and different people, many of whom have little or no experience with landscape fire or land management, inhabit fire-prone environments. But bushfire events represent only the most visible aspect of complex entanglements which operate across huge temporal and spatial scales and over which humans have very limited control. In this article, we focus on how Australian landholders of settler or migrant heritage understand scalar complexities and agency and control within human/landscape fire entanglements. In view of the fact that the learning styles of landholders new to rural areas have been developed in different environments with very different challenges, we also ask whether immersion within rural, fire-prone environments influences ways of ‘knowing’ land and fire.

In the Hermit Kingdom, information is a crucial resource. Its possession represents access to resource and weapons development techniques, but more importantly, information is what separates North Korean society from the rest of the world. Since the state’s inception, meager rations of information combined with hearty doses of propaganda have kept the populace starved with respect to knowledge of the rest of the world’s progress, which has quickly surpassed their own in the past two decades. Why, then, has the current regime dared implement 21st century communications systems such as internet technology if such a move would increase the possibility of an information risk?

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a pandemic in Indonesia as a non-natural disaster in the form of disease outbreaks which must be undertaken as a response. The Ministry of Health in the Republic of Indonesia published a guidebook for prevention and control of COVID-19 in its response efforts. This guideline is intended for health officials as a reference in preparing for COVID-19. This handbook contains early detection and response activities to identify conditions of PDP, ODP, OTG, or confirmed cases of COVID-19. The efforts made are adjusted to the world situation progress from COVID-19 which is monitored by the World Health Organization (WHO). From the results of documentation studies that have been carried out on the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, there are several problems that must be resolved from the prevention of the disease outbreak COVID-19. Lack of knowledge and awareness of the general public in the prevention and control of COVID-19 is one of the factors increasing the spread of that virus in Indonesia. Furthermore, there are difficulties in carrying out surveillance, early detection, contact tracing, infection prevention or control, and risk communication or people empowerment. This is due to the lack of implementation and testing on artificial intelligence methods for COVID-19 diagnosis that can be used by the public. The purpose of this research is to make a diagnosis of surveillance classification which includes PDP, ODP, and OTG using the C4.5 algorithm. The results showed that the diagnosis of the COVID-19 surveillance category using the C4.5 algorithm was successfully modeled into a decision tree with PDP, ODP, and OTG classification. The testing process in a confusion matrix with 3 (three) classes produces an accuracy rate of 92.86% which is included in the excellent classification category.

Abstract According to the reports provided by the World Health Organization, cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide. Recognised methods for reducing the burden of cancers are screening for early detection followed by proper treatment. We studied the cancer incidence during 2007 - 2012 for the population in Constanta County. The main results support the importance of wide screening programs in early detection of neoplastic diseases, especially for elder and lower access to medical services populations, such as people from rural areas.
