Globalization and informatization of the world economy, modernization of production, development and distribution of computer technologies pose new challenges in education. One of such tasks is to provide qualitative teaching of programming for schoolchildren. The article covers actual issues related to teach computer programming for schoolchildren, psychological difficulties, accompanying training, and ways to overcome them. The reason for the problem is that the school and university discipline curricula are lagging behind from the modern stage of computer technologies development. The article has emphasized the importance of programming skills, as it contributes to the cognitive development of students, the ability to concentrate on problem solving activities, the algorithmic thinking and the ability to follow the algorithm. The objective of the research was to analyze the results of a pedagogical experiment on the effective ways in teaching computer programming to pupils in general education schools. The article presents the results of a two-year pedagogical experiment which consists of ascertaining and formative phases. The research has studied the efficiency of computer programming instructions. The authors have arrived at conclusions that such pedagogical methods and techniques as the use of pupil-oriented social and informative motives, verbal and non-verbal, external and internal learning resources, communicative attacks, relevant stimulation and psychological approach; game techniques; team working, as well as pupils’ independent work and reflection have improved the learning outcomes of computer programming at school. The positive effect of the implemented methods is evidenced by the results in the experimental and control groups of schoolchildren verified by the methods of mathematical statistics.

One of the most difficult skills in English lesson is teaching writing. Therefore, this study aims to find out the effectiveness of “Freeze! Freeze!” game for teaching writing on grade eight students of SMP N 1 Rakit, Banjarnegara. This study is an experimental research at SMP N 1 Rakit. This study consisted of two groups which are experimental and control groups. In collecting the data, the writer used a test and the result was analyzed by using a t-test to find out the effect of the treatment. After analyzing the data, the writer found that there was a positive effect of the use of “Freeze! Freeze!” game in teaching writing of recount text. It could be seen from the result of hypothesis testing that the t-test was higher than the t-table (3.792>1.997). Thus, it can be concluded that the use of “Freeze! Freeze!” game in teaching writing of recount text was effective.

Aim of the study: was to determine the effect of perioperative warming measures for major abdominal surgery on postoperative hypothermia. Setting: The current study was conducted in operating room at Emergency Hospital of Menoufia University, Menoufia Governorate. Subjects: A purposive sample consists of 100 adult patients undergoing major abdominal surgery were randomly divided and assigned alternatively into two equal groups; 50 for each group. Tools: Three tools were used for data collection. Structured interview questionnaire: knowledge assessment sheet, perioperative assessment sheet, and shivering scale. Results: There was a highly significant difference between study and control groups regarding mean perioperative temperature at all times of interval of measurements p<0.001.Also there was a highly significant difference between study and control groups concerning postoperative shiveringP<0.001. Conclusions: Usage of perioperative warming measures for major abdominal surgery has a positive effect on the prevention of postoperative hypothermia and shivering. Recommendations: All staff of surgical nurses should be encouraged to be familial with perioperative warming measures and use these measures in order to maintain perioperative normothermia and prevent postoperative hypothermia.

ABSTRACTThis study was initiated by the students’ low learning outcomes on Chemistry subject and the teachers’ preference in using lecture method in teaching learning process.This study aimed at 1) finding out the differences of students’ learning outcomes between the use of flash media-assisted practical method and lecture method on hydrocarbon class at grade XI MIA of SMA Muhammadiyah I Pontianak. Using quasi experimental design and Control Group Posttes Design, this study employed the students of grade XI MIA 2 as the samples of experiment group, andthe students of grade XI MIA 2 as the samples of control group. The data collection techniques used were measurement and observation. While the instruments employed were observation sheet and essay. TheU-Mann Whitneytest revealed that the post test score of 0,0140< 0,05 Ho was rejected, while the Ha one was accepted. It means that there was correlation of students’ learning outcomes between the experiment and the control groups. In addition, the effect size result was 1,086 > 0,8 and considered high which indicated the positive effect of flash media-assisted practical method in enhancing students’ learning achievement.Keywords: flash, learning outcomes, hydrocarbon, practical method

Experimental study of the influence of crystalline silicium upon the damaged physis of the proximal femoral growth zone was performed in 24 Chinchilla rabbits. Defect of growth zone was created by drilling (2.6 mm in diameter). In first experimental group a metallic screw was inserted into the created defect. In the second group silicium monocrystal 5x5x0.5 mm was placed into the defect next to the metallic screw. In control animals only the defect was created. In animal from 1st and control groups roentgenological picture showed the development of deformity in the operated extremity. No deformity was detected in animals from 2nd experimental group. Positive effect of crystalline silicium upon the damaged growth zone function was noted. Further study of this phenomenon may be perspective for the elaboration of new implantation materials with a view to stimulate regeneration of affected physis, preservation of its function, bones deformity prevention and correction.

Effects of mycotoxin sequestering agents in feed on health, reproduction and milk yield of dairy cattle were studied in a 5-month long experiment on 300 dairy cows divided into two groups and six subgroups. The experiment was conducted in adding a mycotoxin sequestering agent based on 1,3 and 1,6 β-glucans to standard cattle nutrition (TMR), which was regularly tested for content of important mycotoxins, in order to gain knowledge about possible positive effect of this agent on the health of dairy cattle and about possible avoidance of negative effects of mycotoxins on dairy cattle due to their structural elimination caused by the agent. The experiment’s setting and conditions during it were in all aspects common and comparable within the European Union, the experiment’s results should be therefore seen as relevant. Health, pregnancy rate and milk yield were carefully monitored during the experiment. Indicators of state of health (occurrence of mastitis and somatic cell count in milk) did not show any significant differences between test and control groups of dairy cows. The average milk yield of dairy cows which were fed the agent enriched feed (30.2 kg a day) was slightly lower in comparison to control groups (31 kg a day, both results with P < 0.001), however, fat content of milk of test groups’ cows (4.02%) was considerably higher than that of control groups’ cows (3.79%). The average pregnancy rate of cows which were fed the agent enriched feed also manifested considerable increase in percentage and stability (from 42.95% of control groups’ cows to 62.25% of test groups’ cows, the standard deviation decreased from 21.1% to 14.4% which means smaller differences among pregnancy rate of test groups’ cows, hence higher stability), this increase manifested even long after the cows had been fed regular feed again.

AbstractMany medical education journals use Twitter to garner attention for their articles. The purpose of this study was to test the effects of tweeting on article page views and downloads.The authors conducted a randomized trial usingAcademic Medicinearticles published in 2015. Beginning in February through May 2018, one article per day was randomly assigned to a Twitter (case) or control group. Daily, an individual tweet was generated for each article in the Twitter group that included the title, #MedEd, and a link to the article. The link delivered users to the article’s landing page, which included immediate access to the HTML full text and a PDF link. The authors extracted HTML page views and PDF downloads from the publisher. To assess differences in page views and downloads between cases and controls, a time-centered approach was used, with outcomes measured at 1, 7, and 30 days.In total, 189 articles (94 cases, 95 controls) were analyzed. After days 1 and 7, there were no statistically significant differences between cases and controls on any metric. On day 30, HTML page views exhibited a 63% increase for cases (M=14.72, SD=63.68) when compared to controls (M=9.01, SD=14.34; incident rate ratio=1.63, p=0.01). There were no differences between cases and controls for PDF downloads on day 30.Contrary to the authors’ hypothesis, only one statistically significant difference in page views between the Twitter and control groups was found. These findings provide preliminary evidence that after 30 days a tweet can have a small positive effect on article page views.

Education prepares one for the world of work; hence, the adoption of the innovative instructional approach employed in the process of teaching and learning is key to the attainment of this goal. To mitigate students’ poor achievement in computer programming (CP), innovative pedagogy (IP) was adopted to make students become active learners in classroom learning. In this study, a quasi-experimental design was used and nonrandomized the subject with pretest and posttest. Students (N = 145) were nonrandomized to the treatment and control groups. The researchers conducted a repeated measure of analysis of variance to determine the change between the experimental and control groups. Students’ attributes were tested for differences by comparing categorical data with chi-square statistics. The interaction effect was determined using an analysis of covariance. The results revealed that the experimental group’s CP achievement test results outperformed those of the control group at posttest and retention tests. Furthermore, the findings of the study show that there is no significant difference in students’ academic achievement across ability levels and gender. Also, there is no interaction between the pretest and the IP. The study, therefore, recommends that computer educators should adopt innovative teaching practices in their day-to-day teaching since it is more creative, learner-centered, and improved student engagement.

This study examined the effectiveness of the flipped classroom learning strategy on student’s motivation, discipline and learning results on the classroom action research subject. The research subject consists of 66 students grouped into experimental and control groups which were taught separately by using the flipped classroom learning strategy and a conventional discussion strategy. Flipped classroom learning strategy with technology has a significant positive effect on student’s motivation, discipline and learning results. It can be concluded that the experimental group of students taught by flipped classroom strategy is better than the control group in all three domains.

Research-based substance use prevention curricula typically yield small effects when implemented by school teachers under real-world conditions. Using a randomized controlled trial, the authors examined whether expert coaching improves the effectiveness of the All Stars prevention curriculum. Although a positive effect on students' cigarette use was noted, this finding may be attributed to marked baseline differences on this variable across the intervention and control groups. No effects were found on students' alcohol or marijuana use or on any of several variables thought to mediate curriculum effects. The effects of coaching on teachers may not become evident until future years, when they have moved beyond an initial mechanical delivery of the curriculum.

Background. The problem of diagnosis and treatment of papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) are radioiodine resistant metastases (RIRM). An urgent issue is the possibility of their early prediction and diagnosis based on the detection of cytomorphological features of the PTC and its metastases, which correlate with the development of radioiodine (RI) resistance. Purpose – detection of cytomorphological features of primary PTC and its metastases in patients who subsequently showed resistance to 131I therapy, compared with the control group of patients who achieved a positive effect of 131I therapy. Materials and Methods. A comparative analysis of morphological features in histological conclusions and the study of cytological characteristics in the fine-needle aspiration (FNA) smears of primary PTC and their primary metastases, as well RIRM оf experimental and control groups of patients were conducted. The experimental group consisted of 152 patients who showed resistance to RI therapy, the control group – 161 patients who achieved a positive effect of RI therapy. Statistical processing was done in Statistica 12. Results and discussion. It is shown that the frequency of follicular structures in the material of primary PTC of patients with a positive effect of 131I therapy is significantly higher, and the frequency of necrotic changes is significantly lower than in patients with the development of RIRM (p <0.05 by criterion χ2). The frequency of follicular structures in the histological material and FNA smears of primary metastases of patients with a positive effect of 131I therapy is significantly higher, and oxyphilic changes are significantly lower than in patients with the development of RIRM (p <0.05 by criterion χ2). Oxyphilic changes were observed significantly more often in the RIRM compared with primary metastases of the control group (p = 0.03). It was proved that cystic changes are significantly more common in FNA smears and histological material of RIRM in comparison with primary metastases of experimental and control groups of patients (p <0.05). Conclusions. TThe use of the presence of oxyphilic and cystic changes in the FNA smears and histological material of metastases of the PTC as prognostic factors of RI resistance is proposed. The presence of follicular structures in the materials of primary PTC and metastases can be a prognostic factor of effective RI therapy.
