Suicide is one of the top causes of death worldwide among youth aged 15-29 years. Students of higher institutions are also involved in the specific group that was reported to have a high level of suicidal ideation. Thus, in order to overcome this issue, all factors that influence suicidal ideation should be identified. This study is intended to identify the factor that influences suicidal ideation among higher learning education students based on their perceptions This study was conducted using a qualitative method using semi-structured interview questions to explore participants’ perceptions towards suicidal ideation among students of higher learning institutions. Two focus group discussions were chosen as the method for data collection. The data in this study were analyzed using thematic analysis method. Specifically, data analysis uses thematic analysis based on six simple steps introduced by Braun and Clarke (2006). The findings show that the participants have an understanding of suicidal ideation. Factors identified to influence the existence of suicidal ideation among students of higher learning institutions can be categorized into two categories, external factors, and internal factors. These factors are peer pressure, pressure from society, social media influences, family factors, financial factors, intrapersonal and individual interpersonal factors, and low self-esteem factor. This study also found that many participants agreed that person internal factors are the most dominant factors affecting suicidal ideation. This study also found that counsellors and other professional bodies such as psychologists were not the choices of participants to express a problem that led to their suicidal ideation.  Keyword: Suicidal ideation, student

Currently, higher learning institutions (HLIs) are facing their most challenging problem in inefficient information management. The knowledge management system (KMS) application calls for providing several benefits to lecturers and students, producing daily information, documenting records for evidence of a transaction, and eventually improving the decision-making process. Knowledge management can be coupled with fuzzy logic to deal with imprecision and uncertainty of data in a KMS. The ICT dynamic development has shifted the HLI operations from manual to electronic-based handling of related information. KMS is one of the systems that are of significant consideration in this regard. Nevertheless, such a system has not been extensively adopted as expected due to users’ rejection of its use. In the present paper, the factors affecting the decision to adopt/reject KMS are highlighted. The study is qualitative and entails a critical review of the related literature concerning the topic, backed by interviews. KMS experts working with highly reputable HLI were interviewed. A total of 11 factors were focused on in light of their effect on the decision to adopt/reject KMS, as argued by the technological adoption theories and literature review. All the factors were validated and placed in ranks by the experts. From the results, a novel conceptual framework of KMS adoption was developed for Libyan HLIs to bring about technology adoption and improved decision-making.

Kata kunci: Teori set kabur, vektor tertib, vektor kepuasan, vektor linguistik, operasi pemurata tertib berpemberat (OWA) Every year, many qualified students apply tu further their study to the public higher learning institution. For that reason, indicators are needed in assisting the proper authority to get the current situation in the country regarding criterias used by students in seeking proper places for them to pursue their higher education. Thus, the selection criteria should be treated with a high level of importance, which will provide information useful for planning, monitoring and upgrading in order to ensure all public higher intuitions are able to satisfy the demand from the society. In this study, a fuzzy set theory was applied when the imprecise information was represented in fuzzy terms. Preference information can be represented by means of preference orderings, utility functions, vector of linguistic terms or a selected subset. In this approach, four different preference formats are provided from students as decision makers to express their individual preferences, taking into consideration the decision makers different attitudes, motivation, and personalities. The different formats of preferences are transformed into uniform fuzzy preference relations and aggregated. Ordered Weighting Averaging (OWA) was used to assess the criteria weights. From this study, it was found that offering courses, teaching qualities and availability of financial aid are the most important criteria considered by the students to further their study in public higher learning institutions. Key words: Fuzzy set, fuzzy consensus, multi-criteria decision, fuzzy preference

Looking at the higher learning institutions, there is no question that the current methods for paying student fees are inefficient, inconvenient, and wasteful of time. In addition, the rise in the number of students studying in higher learning institutions has led to long frustrating queues and overcrowding in most financial institutions during payment of student fees. This paper sought to design and implement a secure block chain-based payment system for higher learning institutions in developing countries. Students are to use the proposed payment system to pay tuition fees and other student fees to their respective higher educational institution. In addition, students are to use the proposed payment to pay for goods and services provided by the institution and other merchants in the institution’s premises. In this study, object oriented software development methodology was used to implement the proposed payment system. The proposed system consists of a mobile e-wallet, RESTful API, and blockchain as the core component of the API.

Rapidly changing business environment requires organization to gain competitive advantage in order to survive. As people is known to be the most valuable assets to an organization, having employees that are actively engaged in their work can positively leads to higher performance and subsequently contribute to the success of the organization. One of the factors that would lead to work engagement among employees is through the learning organization concept which provides continuous learning and improvement, directly linked to an employee daily work and development. Despite its importance, seldom has it been reported in the literature that this paradigm has been examined. Therefore, this study attempts to determine: (i) the level of work engagement among employees; and (ii) the relationship between learning organization dimension and work engagement. Data collected from 150 employees of an institution of higher education revealed that work engagement among employees is at high level. Only four learning organization dimensions namely, empowerment, embedded system, environmental connection and strategic leadership were found to have positive and significant relationships with work engagement. The implications and consequences of the study findings for higher learning institutions are further discussed.

The purpose of this study was to identify factors that influence the implementation of low-level oral questioning in mathematics teaching in primary school. This study was a qualitative study using the case study method. Data were collected through partial structural observation, semi-structured interview, document analysis and field notes. Six mathematics teachers from six different primary schools were selected as participants of the study using purposive sampling method. The data were then analyzed using a constant comparative method to identify the patterns and themes that emerged from the data obtained. The study identified that factors of time constraint, heavy workload, extensive coverage of contents, low level student achievement, student engagement, and lack of in-service training contributed to the lack of high level questionings in the mathematics teaching process. These factors need to be addressed so that students' thinking can be enhanced through higher level oral questioning activities during the class.
