Optoelectronic modules have a wide range of applications in the field of wireless communication. However, the function of mobile localization has not been realized in optoelectronic modules. In this paper, an indoor positioning algorithm, which was based on frequency modulation (FM) signals, was realized in optoelectronic modules. Firstly, FM monitoring receiver DB4004 was used to collect FM signals; Secondly, FM signals were preprocessed and analyzed to build a FM dataset. Finally, weighted centroid k-nearest neighbors (WC-KNN) precise positioning algorithm was proposed to obtain the position information of the photoelectric module. Experimental results showed that the median location error of the WC-KNN algorithm can reach 0.8 m and additional hardware equipment was not required. The research results provided the feasibility for the practical application of equipment based on optoelectronic devices in various fields.

Right from the early days of the process industries, continuous efforts have been made to develop and improve measures for prevention and mitigation of dust explosions in these industries. Nevertheless this hazard continues to threaten industries that manufacture, use and/or handle powders and dusts of a wide range of combustible materials. To improve methods for predicting explosion development in real industrial plant has been one major challenge. Hence, during the last years comprehensive numerical simulation codes, for addressing this problem, have been developed. Progress has also been made in other areas, for example, ignition source prevention. The importance of adopting inherently safer process design, by building on firm knowledge in powder science and technology, and of systematic education/training of personnel, is also emphasized.

This paper proposes a Improved positioning algorithm of electrical partial discharge applied for substations. This algorithm is based on received signal strength indication, and taken practical condition of sensors into consideration by replenishing beacon nodes. Compared with traditional trilateral weighting positioning algorithm, this paper introduces indefinite amount of localization perpendicular lines and combined them with trilateral districts to calculate the weighting result, which can reduce error. This model meets the requirement of reality that the height of electrical discharge spots differentiate from the height of the plane formed by beacon nodes (signal sensors). The experimental result indicates that the revised position model proposed by this paper can effectively fit the condition of monitoring hardware. Error of this algorithm is less than that of traditional trilateral localization.

Whereas walking for paraplegic patients is now a routine clinical option, ambulation for heavily handicapped cerebral palsy patients is less well established. There are good reasons for supposing that therapeutic benefits similar to that achieved with paraplegic patients are possible for this group. However, the biomechanical problems which must be overcome are different and in many ways more difficult to address. The most important factors are identified as appropriate truncal support, control of abduction/adduction, rotation and flexion range at the hip, and of knee flexion. A means of applying these controls is described as being a combination of a walking frame and orthosis. The special walking frame provides adjustable support at thoracic, abdominal and sacral levels and incorporates castor steering and upper limb support. Controls on lower limb movements are applied through a special orthosis which has a readily available variation of specification to accommodate the wide range of conditions met in cerebral palsy. Practical application of a prototype system has shown that it can enable patients to walk unaided. However, in most cases it was used indoors only. Evaluation of the experience in applying the system has enabled the fundamental principles to permit more practical applications to be defined.

There are abundant genetic resources of Populus in southwest China, which play an important role in scientific research and practical application. These resources are unfamiliar to the rest of the world and their value has not been widely appreciated; hence the purpose of this paper is to present the resources to the world, and to encourage more attention to be paid to them. There are 28 species, 20 varieties, and about 10 natural hybrids of Populus in the region. Of the 28 species, 25 are endemic to China, and 18 of them are indigenous to southwest China. So the region is regarded as one of the natural distribution and variation centres for Populus in China. The species fall into three floristic types: China–Japan, China–Himalayas, and ancient tropical; and show an obvious zonation in horizontal and vertical distribution with excellent adaptability to a wide range of environments. At present, only a few species are generally recognized, and to some extent grown and utilized, while most of them are still in natural conditions but face severe threat. It is therefore urgent to recognize, conserve and utilize these significant poplar resources.

The detection of emotions is fundamental in many areas related to health and well-being. This paper presents the identification of the level of arousal in older people by monitoring their electrodermal activity (EDA) through a commercial device. The objective was to recognize arousal changes to create future therapies that help them to improve their mood, contributing to reduce possible situations of depression and anxiety. To this end, some elderly people in the region of Murcia were exposed to listening to various musical genres (flamenco, Spanish folklore, Cuban genre and rock/jazz) that they heard in their youth. Using methods based on the process of deconvolution of the EDA signal, two different studies were carried out. The first, of a purely statistical nature, was based on the search for statistically significant differences for a series of temporal, morphological, statistical and frequency features of the processed signals. It was found that Flamenco and Spanish Folklore presented the highest number of statistically significant parameters. In the second study, a wide range of classifiers was used to analyze the possible correlations between the detection of the EDA-based arousal level compared to the participants’ responses to the level of arousal subjectively felt. In this case, it was obtained that the best classifiers are support vector machines, with 87% accuracy for flamenco and 83.1% for Spanish Folklore, followed by K-nearest neighbors with 81.4% and 81.5% for Flamenco and Spanish Folklore again. These results reinforce the notion of familiarity with a musical genre on emotional induction.

A rapid slide flocculation test using bentonite particles sensitized with salmonella O somatic antigen extracts has been described. A polyvalent antigen was also prepared using a number of salmonella O extracts thereby making the test useful for the screening of either a monovalent antibody or covering a wide range of O groups. The sensitized test antigen can be lyophilized and, when rehydrated, yields reproducible results. This investigation marks the first reported successful sensitization of bentonite with polysaccharide material. The practical application of this test is now undergoing investigation.

The three-dimensional positioning algorithm has become a hot research direction in wireless sensor networks localization algorithms, however the existing 3D positioning algorithms have general shortcomings, such as high complexity, low positioning accuracy, great energy consumption. Aiming at the existing problems of 3D localization algorithm, we propose an decentralized 3D positioning algorithm based on RSSI ranging and free ranging mechanism. The algorithm firstly use measured RSSI to establish beacon node neighborhood. Then the method adopts regional division to obtain initial location information for unknown nodes. Finally, the method use the iterative optimization process to achieve a position information updates. Simulation results demonstrate that proposed algorithm is feasible and has better localization accuracy.
