Previous studies in taekwondo have considered the use of the manual scoring system or the electronic system with only the use of the electronic body protector. The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between the color protectors and success in 1,327 taekwondo matches from six World Grand Prix Series of two 4-year Olympic periods when electronic body and head protectors are used. In the total sample, the results did not show a relationship between the match outcome and the color of the protectors (p = 0.97, C = 0.001). For the individual six editions, the results showed a positive and strong relationship between wearing blue protectors and winning matches and one between wearing red protectors and winning matches (p = 0.001, C = 0.19; p = 0.001; C = 0.19). Regarding the weight categories, 8 and 5 of 48 showed higher percentages of blue and red winners, respectively. Regarding sex, male competitors showed a positive relationship between blue color and winning the match in 6 of 24 weight categories, and wearing red and winning the match was shown in 2 of 24 weight categories. Female competitors showed a positive relationship between blue color and winning the match in 2 of 24 weight categories, and wearing red and winning the match was shown in 3 of 24 weight categories. When it comes to the influence of being a seeded athlete, the results did show a significant confounding effect on the color of the protectors worn by the winner of the match in 2 of 13 weight categories in which a color effect was observed (p = 0.02, C = 0.28; p = 0.02, C = 0.28). In conclusion, wearing red does not provide a higher chance of winning the match. It seems that seeing red has a stronger effect than wearing red, especially in male contenders. Moreover, being a seeded athlete does not explain the result of the match. It seems that the introduction of the electronic helmet protector, in addition to the electronic body protector, made the scoring system more objective, decreasing the advantage of wearing red in winning matches.

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between religious orientation, emotion regulation, and resilience of first-year theological students. The total sample used in this study was 59 first-year theological students at a theological college in Indonesia. The results show a statistically significant positive relationship between religious orientation, emotion regulation, and resilience. The results also show that the effective contribution of emotion regulation is higher than the religious orientation towards resilience. These results indicate the importance of emotional regulation training and religious orientation education to develop resilience in the lives of first-year theological students.

There are two conflicting perspectives regarding the relationship between profanity and dishonesty. These two forms of norm-violating behavior share common causes and are often considered to be positively related. On the other hand, however, profanity is often used to express one’s genuine feelings and could therefore be negatively related to dishonesty. In three studies, we explored the relationship between profanity and honesty. We examined profanity and honesty first with profanity behavior and lying on a scale in the lab (Study 1; N = 276), then with a linguistic analysis of real-life social interactions on Facebook (Study 2; N = 73,789), and finally with profanity and integrity indexes for the aggregate level of U.S. states (Study 3; N = 50 states). We found a consistent positive relationship between profanity and honesty; profanity was associated with less lying and deception at the individual level and with higher integrity at the society level.

The relationship between smoking and academic achievement was assessed using a sample of 326 students of psychology. There was no difference between the smokers' mean marks and the nonsmokers' mean marks on either the individual items of assessment or for the over-all course result, for the total sample or for males or females separately. The number of cigarettes smoked per day was not significantly correlated with academic achievement. However, due to the restricted nature of the sample, generalization of the findings is limited.

The topic of citizen-initiated contacting of government officials has received increasing attention, but research has yielded conflicting findings on the relationship of socioeconomic status to contacting behavior. Various studies find that the two are negatively, positively, parabolically, or negligibly related. Data are presented supporting the claim of a positive relationship, and reasons for the conflicting findings are explored. The need-awareness model, associated with the finding of a parabolic relationship between socioeconomic status and contacting at the aggregate level, is tested at the individual level of analysis. While the importance of the need and awareness factors is affirmed, the overall model is not supported. As with other modes of political participation, sense of efficacy is found to be an important predictor of contracting, but the positive relationship between socioeconomic status and contacting remains when efficacy is controlled.

Abstract. The study aims to examine and analyze the relationship between variables visionary leadership of headmaster (X1) to the development of character education (Y) on the madrasah aliyah in Bitung, and relationship variables competency of teachers (X2) towards the development of character education (Y) on the madrasah aliyah in Bitung, and the relationship of these two variables, namely visionary leadership of headmaster (X1) and the competence of teachers (X2) towards the development of character education (Y) on the madrasah aliyah in Bitung. The method used in this research is correlational quantitative method. The research was conducted in three Madrasah Aliyah in Bitung, namely: Madrasah Aliyah Yaspib Bitung, Madrasah Aliyah Arafah Bitung, and Madrasah Aliyah Alkhairat Bitung, with a total sample of 50 teachers. Data was collected by using questionnaires. Conducted research hypothesis testing and regression analysis, the real level of 0.05. The calculation results Simple regression coefficient in this study shows is the constant coefficient values as big as 2,507 variable coefficient free (X1) is equal 1,506, So the regression equation Y=2,507+1,506X, So from these results we conclude that between variable visionary leadership (X1) with variable character education development (Y) have a strong relationship, because it has a correlation value of 1,506, Mean while, the variable relationship with the teacher's competence development of character education, shows the constant coefficient is equal to 6,351 the coefficient of the independent variable (X2) is approximately 2,555, So the regression equation Y=6,351+2,555X. then the two variables (X2 and Y) have a strong relationship because it has a correlation value of 2,555, whereas, the results obtained from simultaneous test shows that the value Fhitung205,784, with a probability of 0.000, and the value obtained Ftabel of 3.20. Because the Fhitung larger than Ftabel (205,784 > 3,20) and the probability value (0,000) is much smaller than 0,05, then conclude the visionary leadership (X1) and the competence of teachers (X2) together have a strong relationship to the development of character education (Y).Keywords: Visionary Leadership, Teacher Competence and Development of Character Education Abstrak.

Antifat attitudes refer to stereotyping based on people’s weight. A potential explanation for the strong negative attitudes toward obese individuals relates to people’s emotional reactions. In this study, conducted with 373 female students, it is suggested that physical disgust, germ aversion and perceived controllability of weight play a central role in explaining the individual differences that exist in antifat attitudes. Our results showed a positive relationship between physical disgust and germ aversion. Additionally, it has been found a positive correlation between physical disgust and perceived controllability of weight. Furthermore, a positive relationship between antifat attitudes, physical disgust and germ aversion was found. Finally, perceived controllability of weight was positively related with antifat attitudes. The path analysis conducted showed the mediational effect of perceived controllability of weight in the relationship between physical disgust and antifat attitudes. Finally, it is discussed the results in the frame of antifat attitudes literature.
