There always exists subjective and objective color differences between digital wood grain and real wood grain, making it difficult to replicate the color of natural timber. Therefore, we described a novel method of correcting the chromatic aberration of scanned wood grain to maximally restore the objective color information of the real wood grain. A point-to-point correction model of chromatic aberration between the scanned wood grain and the measured wood grain was established based on Circle 1 by adjusting the three channels (sR, sG, and sB) of the scanned images. A conversion of the color space was conducted using the mutual conversion formulas. The color change of the scanned images before and after the correction was evaluated through the L* a* b* color-mode-based ΔE* and the lαβ color-model-based CIQI (Color Image Quality Index) and CQE (Color Quality Enhancement). The experimental results showed that the chromatic aberration ΔE* between the scanned wood grain and the measured wood grain decreased and the colorfulness index CIQI of the scanned wood grain increased for most wood specimens after the correction. The values of ΔE* of the twenty kinds of wood specimens decreased by an average of 3.1 in Circle 1 and 2.3 in Circle 2, thus the correction model established based on Circle 1 was effective. The color of the scanned wood grain was more consistent with that of the originals after the correction, which would provide a more accurate color information for the reproductions of wood grain and had an important practical significance.

Abstract Background Oxymetazoline hydrochloride 0.1% ophthalmic solution has recently been approved in the United States for the treatment of ptosis. Objectives The aim of this study was to assess the upper and lower eyelid position as well as the brow position and the color of the sclera following the ophthalmic administration of oxymetazoline hydrochloride 0.1%. Methods In this prospective cohort study, consecutive patients presenting with ptosis received topical oxymetazoline 0.1%. The primary outcome was measurement of the upper eyelid height (margin-to-reflex distance 1 [MRD1]) and lower eyelid height (MRD2) relative to the center of pupil, along with assessment of brow height, measured on photographs at baseline and 2 hours after instillation of oxymetazoline. The secondary outcome was the assessment of the color of the sclera (eye whiteness) before and after treatment with a novel color space algorithm. Results Twenty-nine patients participated in the study. The mean [SD] MRD1 at baseline was 2.3 [0.6] mm. At 2 hours following oxymetazoline treatment, the mean MRD1 significantly increased to 4.2 [0.9] mm (P < 0.01). The mean MRD2 also significantly increased from 5.3 [0.9] mm to 5.7 [1.0] mm (P < 0.01). Brow position did not change with treatment (P = 0.4). Following treatment, the eye sclera became significantly whiter, with a mean ΔEab (color change) of 9.7 [3.9], with 57 out of 58 eyes experiencing a significant change in color. A change of ΔEab ≥2 is considered visually perceptible to the human eye. Conclusions Within 2 hours of use, oxymetazoline significantly improves the size of the palpebral aperture (MRD1 + MRD2) and also makes the eye appear significantly whiter. Level of Evidence: 4

Image colorization assigns colors to a grayscale image, which is an important yet difficult image-processing task encountered in various applications. In particular, grayscale aerial image colorization is a poorly posed problem that is affected by the sun elevation angle, seasons, sensor parameters, etc. Furthermore, since different colors may have the same intensity, it is difficult to solve this problem using traditional methods. This study proposes a novel method for the colorization of grayscale aerial images using random forest (RF) regression. The algorithm uses one grayscale image for input and one-color image for reference, both of which have similar seasonal features at the same location. The reference color image is then converted from the Red-Green-Blue (RGB) color space to the CIE L*a*b (Lab) color space in which the luminance is used to extract training pixels; this is done by performing change detection with the input grayscale image, and color information is used to establish color relationships. The proposed method directly establishes color relationships between features of the input grayscale image and color information of the reference color image based on the corresponding training pixels. The experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms several state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of both visual inspection and quantitative evaluation.

AbstractA novel grayscale-based block scrambling image encryption scheme is presented not only to enhance security, but also to improve the compression performance for Encryption-then-Compression (EtC) systems with JPEG compression, which are used to securely transmit images through an untrusted channel provider. The proposed scheme enables the use of a smaller block size and a larger number of blocks than the color-based image encryption scheme. Images encrypted using the proposed scheme include less color information due to the use of grayscale images even when the original image has three color channels. These features enhance security against various attacks, such as jigsaw puzzle solver and brute-force attacks. Moreover, generating the grayscale-based images from a full-color image in YCbCr color space allows the use of color sub-sampling operation, which can provide the higher compression performance than the conventional grayscale-based encryption scheme, although the encrypted images have no color information. In an experiment, encrypted images were uploaded to and then downloaded from Twitter and Facebook, and the results demonstrated that the proposed scheme is effective for EtC systems and enhances the compression performance, while maintaining the security against brute-force and jigsaw puzzle solver attacks.

Contrast enhancement has an important role in image processing applications. This paper presents a color enhancement algorithm based on adaptive filter technique. First, the proposed method is divided into three major parts: obtain luminance image and backdrop image, adaptive modification and color restoration. different traditional color image enhancement algorithms, the adaptive filter in the algorithm takes color information into consideration. The algorithm finds the significance of color information in color image enhancement and utilizes color space conversion to obtain a much better visibility. In the practical results, the proposed method reproduces better enhancement and reduce the halo distortion compared with the bilateral  methods.

It is known that human eyes are less sensitive to color, than to their brightness. In the RGB color space, all three components are considered equally important, and they are usually stored with the same resolution. However, you can display a color image more efficiently, separating the brightness from color information and presenting it with a higher resolution than color. RGB space is well suited for computer graphics, because it uses these three components for color formation. However, RGB space is not very effective when it comes to real images. The fact is that to save the color of an image, you need to know and store all three components of the RGB, and if one of them is missing, it will greatly distort the visual image representation. Also, when processing images in RGB space, it is not always convenient to perform any pixel conversion, because, in this case, it will be necessary to list all three values of the RGB component and write back. This greatly reduces the performance of various image processing algorithms. For these and other reasons, many video standards use brightness and two signals that carry information about the red and blue components of the signal, as a color model other than RGB. The most famous among such spaces is YCbCr.

Предложен способ оценки изменения цвета, основанный на обработке цифровых фотоизображений до и после температурно-временных воздействий. На основе полученных характеристик цветового пространства red–green–blue (RGB) был рассчитан показатель цветового различия ДE. Установлено, что с увеличением температуры термообработки образцов резко (на 50–80%) увеличивается значение цветовой разницы. При температуре 120°С значение цветовой разницы меняется незначительно и не превышает 15 единиц даже после 2-часового температурного воздействия. Однако при повышении температуры до 180–210°С цветовая разница за первые 10 мин увеличивается существенно и после 60 мин нагревания меняется незначительно. Проведенная оценка изменения цвета сухого картофельного пюре показала, что предлагаемый метод позволяет количественно оценить изменения цветовых характеристик продукта. Данная методика является чувствительной и более точной и дает возможность оценить не воспринимаемые человеком изменения цвета. Установлено следующее: контролируя температуру и длительность процесса нагревания, можно достичь желаемого цвета для сухого картофельного пюре, что напрямую влияет на его органолептические характеристики и потребительские свойства. A method for estimating the color change based on the processing of digital photo images before and after the temperature-time effects are proposed. Based on the received characteristics of the red–green–blue (RGB) color space, the color difference ДE was calculated. It is established that with increasing heat treatment temperature of the samples, the value of the color difference is sharply increased (by 50–80%). At a temperature of 120°C, the value of the color difference varies insignificantly and does not exceed 15 units even after a 2-hour exposure to temperature. However, with an increase in temperature 180–210°C, the color difference for the first 10 min increases substantially and after 60 minutes of heating changes insignificantly. The evaluation of the color change of dry mashed potatoes showed that the proposed method allows quantitative assessment of changes in color characteristics, is sensitive and more accurate, gives an opportunity to assess the color changes not perceived by a person. The received results demonstrate that controlling the temperature and duration of the heating process, it is possible to obtain the desired color of dry mashed potatoes, which is important, since color directly affects the organoleptic characteristics and consumer properties.

Lubricants and leather dressings are the most common treatments of dry and water logged historical leathers. Color change has a great importance during the time and treatment process, due to visual and aesthetic values of historic leather relics. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and silicone oil (SiO) are frequently used leather dressings in the conservation procedures. Therefore, color stability of treated leathers with PEG and SiO were investigated before and after heat accelerated aging. Moreover, application of ascorbic acid was evaluated as an antioxidant additive for PEG (PEG+AA).Color change after treatment and aging were studied by colorimetry technique in the CIE *L*a*b system. Results indicated to severe color alteration in PEG treated and aged leathers with or without ascorbic acid. Whereas, SiO treated samples showed better stability and minimum color shift after aging. Silicone oil was characterized as the best dressing for historical leathers with compared to PEG and PEG+AA, due to its high stability and aesthetical properties.

Abstract. Image File Searching Based on Color Domination. One characteristic of an image that can be used in image searching process is the composition of the colors. Color is a trait that is easily seen by man in the picture. The use of color as a searching parameter can provide a solution in an easier searching for images stored in computer memory. Color images have RGB values that can be computed and converted into HSL color space model. Use of HSL images model is very easy because it can be calculated using a percent, so that in each pixel of the image can be grouped and named, this can give a dominant values of the colors contained in one image. By obtaining these values, the image search can be done quickly just by using these values to a retrieval system image file. This article discusses the use of the HSL color space model to facilitate the searching for a digital image in the digital image data warehouse. From the test results of the application form, a searching is faster by using the colors specified by the user. Obstacles encountered were still searching with a choice of 15 basic colors available, with a limit of 33% dominance of the color image search was not found. This is due to the dominant color in each image has the most dominant value below 33%.   Keywords: RGB, HSL, image searching Abstrak. Salah satu ciri gambar yang dapat dipergunakan dalam proses pencarian gambar adalah komposisi warna. Warna adalah ciri yang mudah dilihat oleh manusia dalam citra gambar. Penggunaan warna sebagai parameter pencarian dapat memberikan solusi dalam memudahkan pencarian gambar yang tersimpan dalam memori komputer. Warna gambar memiliki nilai RGB yang dapat dihitung dan dikonversi ke dalam model HSL color space. Penggunaan model gambar HSL sangat mudah karena dapat dihitung dengan menggunakan persen, sehingga dalam setiap piksel gambar dapat dikelompokan dan diberi nama, hal ini dapat memberikan suatu nilai dominan dari warna yang terdapat dalam satu gambar. Dengan diperolehnya nilai tersebut, pencarian gambar dapat dilakukan dengan cepat hanya dengan menggunakan nilai tersebut pada sistem pencarian file gambar. Artikel ini membahas tentang penggunaan model HSL color space untuk mempermudah pencarian suatu gambar digital didalam gudang data gambar digital. Dari hasil uji aplikasi yang sudah dibuat, diperoleh pencarian yang lebih cepat dengan menggunakan pilihan warna yang ditentukan sendiri oleh pengguna. Kendala yang masih dijumpai adalah pencarian dengan pilihan 15 warna dasar yang tersedia, dengan batas dominasi warna 33% tidak ditemukan gambar yang dicari. Hal ini disebabkan warna dominan disetiap gambar kebanyakan memiliki nilai dominan di bawah 33%. Kata Kunci: RGB, HSL, pencarian gambar

Abstract Recently urban waterlogging problems have become more and more serious, and the construction of an airport runway makes the impervious area of the airport high, which leads to the deterioration of the water environment and frequent waterlogging disasters. It is of great significance to design and construct the sponge airport with low impact development (LID) facilities. In this paper, we take catchment N1 of Beijing Daxing International Airport as a case study. The LID facilities are designed and the runoff process of a heavy rainfall in catchment N1 is simulated before and after the implementation of LID facilities. The results show that the total amount of surface runoff, the number of overflow junctions and full-flow conduits of the rainwater drainage system in catchment N1 of Beijing Daxing International Airport are significantly reduced after the implementation of the LID facilities. Therefore, the application of LID facilities has greatly improved the ability of the airport to remove rainwater and effectively alleviated the risk of waterlogging in the airport flight area. This study provides theoretical support for airport designers and managers to solve flood control and rainwater drainage problems and has vital practical significance.

In this study, the machine vision and artificial intelligence algorithms were used to rapidly check the degree of cooking of foods and avoid the over-cooking of foods. Using a smart induction cooker for heating, the image processing program automatically recognizes the color of the food before and after cooking. The new cooking parameters were used to identify the cooking conditions of the food when it is undercooked, cooked, and overcooked. In the research, the camera was used in combination with the software for development, and the real-time image processing technology was used to obtain the information of the color of the food, and through calculation parameters, the cooking status of the food was monitored. In the second year, using the color space conversion, a novel algorithm, and artificial intelligence, the foreground segmentation was used to separate the vegetables from the background, and the cooking ripeness, cooking unevenness, oil glossiness, and sauce absorption were calculated. The image color difference and the distribution were used to judge the cooking conditions of the food, so that the cooking system can identify whether or not to adopt partial tumbling, or to end a cooking operation. A novel artificial intelligence algorithm is used in the relative field, and the error rate can be reduced to 3%. This work will significantly help researchers working in the advanced cooking devices.
