For a “system of systems” approach in agriculture, agricultural machinery is facing the challenge of bringing tractor-implement combinations and harvesting machinery to the IoT (Internet of Things). While standards such as the ISO 11783 (ISOBUS) have enabled seamless tractor-implement communications, the manufacturer-independent communication of tractors, implements and harvesting machinery with external sensors and different Cloud systems/services are still lacking. IoT ecosystems for agricultural machinery are gaining ground in the market to solve these problems. In this regard, an overview is given about the role of interfaces and middleware and how they can help to improve data flow, improve connectivity, compatibility and interoperability of digital products that farmers use.

Scientific research and innovation management practice have emphasised the important role of individual competencies in meeting the challenges of the digital transformation. However, it still lacks empirical studies that strive to determine how certain competencies of employees might affect the success of the digital transformation itself. In order to empirically determine the individual contribution of specific employee competencies to a successful digital transformation in terms of a high Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) usage performance, a quantitative study among German component manufacturers of the capital goods industry was conducted. Drawing upon a sample of 284 employees, our results reveal that high developed cognitive and processual competencies of individuals promote the digital transformation processes of a firm. Surprisingly, social competencies have only a little influence. Furthermore, our findings also confirmed that a high IIoT usage performance is beneficial for a firm, significantly enhancing divisional success.

The authors use the systems approach, comparative and structural analysis, analytical and theoretical generalization to obtain the main results of the study, including works of Russian scientists on digital education development trends.Results. The major trends in the transformation of education in the context of digitalization are identified and determined, and prospects for the use of digital technologies in education are shown.Conclusions. The following trends in the transformation of education are considered particularly important: increasing the role of interactive forms of education, practice-oriented education, and reducing the role of the academic component in the educational process. The learning management system is classified according to a set of reasonable criteria. This study shows that rapid social changes call for the modernization of the education system and implementation of continuous education technologies in the context of digital transformation of education at all levels.
