Applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be examined from perspectives of different disciplines and research areas ranging from computer science and security, engineering, policymaking, and sociology. The technical scholarship of emerging technologies usually precedes the discussion of their societal implications but can benefit from social science insight in scientific development. Therefore, there is an urgent need for scientists and engineers developing AI algorithms and applications to actively engage with scholars in the social sciences. Without collaborative engagement, developers may encounter resistance to the approval and adoption of their technological advancements. This paper reviews a dataset, collected by Elsevier from the Scopus database, of papers on AI application published between 1997 and 2018, and examines how the co-development of technical and social science communities has grown throughout AI's earliest to latest stages of development. Thus far, more AI research exists that combines social science and technical explorations than AI scholarship of social sciences alone, and both categories are dwarfed by technical research. Moreover, we identify a relative absence of AI research related to its societal implications such as governance, ethics, or moral implications of the technology. The future of AI scholarship will benefit from both technical and social science examinations of the discipline's risk assessment, governance, and public engagement needs, to foster advances in AI that are sustainable, risk-informed, and societally beneficial.

Consideramos la práctica social mecánica de bicicleta fundamental para el fenómeno bicicultura con efectos directos a la realidad ciudadana con la promoción de procesos educativos para la movilidad urbana.  Abstract: The objective of this research is to understand educational processes experienced in the social mechanical practice of bicycle. The 4E Cognition phenomenological epistemic approach, which focuses on embodied, situated, extended, and enactive cognitive processes. As a methodological procedure, six Latin-Americans bicycle mechanics were interviewed. Inclusion/exclusion criteria were as follows: previous formal or informal work in bicycle mechanics, experience with utilitarian, sport, or recreational cycling, and cycloactivist political-pedagogical actions. In the analysis of the discourse, the following units of meaning emerged: a) Work teaching-learning; b) Technological influences on cycling; c) Health and care when pedaling; these units form the general category  "Bicycle mechanics as a cognitive-educational process". We consider social mechanical bicycle practice as a fundamental bicycle culture phenomenon having direct effects on citizen's life as it promotes educational processes for urban mobility.

Interdisciplinarity is an advocacy of multiple disciplines, not the elimination of curricular subjects, as one might mistakenly infer. In other words, a solid disciplinary base is a prerequisite for the development of interdisciplinary projects. At the same time, disciplines are historical products of scientific development, being epistemological tools of scientific practice and political institutional arrangements for the control of knowledge. The knowledge related to interdisciplinarity builds, in the social environment, a relationship established across disciplines, and can be inserted in schools through projects and comprehensive work. Such projects can be observed in some universities. The use of interdisciplinarity in science and technology courses offers precious opportunities for students to solve problems, effectively building and consolidating knowledge in a learning process capable of inserting them in the labor market. Like interdisciplinarity, multidisciplinarity is a catalyst in the teaching-learning process, enabling students to act actively in the construction of their knowledge. Multidisciplinarity means that several disciplines study the same subject at the same time. The present article was developed to present a qualitative and quantitative panorama of the courses of Interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science and Technology, offered in brazilian federal universities.

Sustainable education is currently booming in the teaching and learning processes, although it is not without complexity, due to its various dimensions and the evolution it has undergone to date. The objective of this research is to establish a mapping and scientific evolution of the term “sustainability” in education in the Web of Science database. To do so, a bibliometrical method has been applied, through the analysis of the performance of the scientific production and the evolution of the structure and dynamism of sustainability in education, by means of an analysis of co-words. The total number of references analyzed, after following a debugging process, was 9441. The results show the boom of sustainability in education in recent times, with a great impact on research related to attitudes and sustainability. It can be concluded that a large part of the studies analyzed are of a descriptive nature, with a decrease in the number of exploratory studies, which can give a holistic vision to the subject matter presented, especially regarding the development of the curriculum and the teaching-learning process.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is conceived as a neurodevelopmental disorder. The scientific literature welcomes studies that reflect the possible singularities that people with ASD may present both in their daily lives and at an educational level. The main objective of this study is to analyze the scientific production on the term autism in Web of Science, focused on the educational field, in order to identify the research trends in this field of study. The intention is to offer researchers who study autism in the educational field some clear research directions. A bibliometric-type methodology was developed using the scientific mapping technique. For this purpose, a performance analysis and a co-word analysis were carried out. Work was conducted with an analysis unit of 5512 documents. The results show that the volume of production has been irregular from the beginning to the present. The collection of documents on the subject began to be relevant, in terms of the volume of production, from 2007, and this has persisted to the present. It is concluded that there are two lines of research. The first is the line focused on mothers of children with ASD and the second is the line of research focused on young people with ASD. In addition, since 2012, new lines of research have been generated, focused on the diagnosis and inclusion of these students in educational centers.

Abstract. In order to face the lack of motivation and involvement of the student body new methodological strategies have emerged aiming to bring the educational processes closer to the interests and necessities of the 21st century’s students. Among them, gamification stands out stands out as a strategy that consists of applying elements from the games in non-ludic contexts. This systematic review seeks to know the impact that gamification has reached in the Spanish educational field to determine in which stages and which courses it is being applied to, on which variables it has an impact on and what are the results that we are obtaining. In order to do this, we consulted digital databases such as: Web of Science (main collection), Eric and Scopus. The principles established by the PRISMA declaration were taken into consideration. Out of the 118 articles filtered by title and abstract, and then read in its entirety only 15 proposals fulfilled the inclusion criteria. In the distribution via different education stages, 66.7% of the articles fall into the category of university education, 20% belongs to mandatory high school education, 6.7% falls into the category of Spanish baccalaureate and the remaining 6.7% combined the program on mandatory primary school and secondary school education. If we think in global terms, more than half of the proposals (60%) had an impact on motivational variables. Despite the rise of gamification in the last few years it has been identified a necessity for a higher methodological exactitude and a more exhaustive description of proposals to value their true potentiality in our country.
