According to the WHO definition, “telemedicine is the provision of health services, where distance is a critical factor, by all health professionals who use information and communication technologies for the exchange of valid information for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases, research and evaluation, and for the continuous training of health professionals, all in the interest of advancing the health of individuals and their communities”. The purpose of our review work is specifically to investigate the effects of telemedicine in the treatment and prevention of eating disorders in adolescents. From June 2021 to (September 2021) in the databases of the Web of Science, EMBASE, PsycINFO and CINHAL, using search terms such as telehealth, eating disorder, adolescents, Internet/online treatments CBT and FB-T, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. The articles resulting from the search phases in the databases listed above produced a total of 176 items. Once the procedures for selecting the works were completed, only four studies were included in the review. Modern e-health psychological approaches in the treatment of eating disorders provide potential bases of continuous assistance that are decidedly less burdensome in the costs of territorial services in the case that they are not identified as necessary.

Telemedicine can be defined as the delivery of healthcare services, where distance is a critical factor, by all healthcare professionals using information and communication technologies for the exchange of valid information for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease and injuries, research and evaluation, and for the continuing education of healthcare providers, all in the interest of advancing the health of individuals and their communities. Such a wide definition includes many health care activities and a large number of applications have been tried, with variable degrees of interaction between all the players in the health care system. This review, starting from the need and opportunity that we are now facing to capitalize the great technological improvements in the field of information and communication technologies to improve also our health services, will illustrate the history, classification and main field of application of Telemedicine. Lastly, the available data on the application of Telemedicine for patients with respiratory diseases will be reviewed.

Introduction: Telemedicine is the provision of health services, where distance is a critical factor, using information and communication technologies. Cape Verde has bet on using this tool to increase access of the population of its islands to specialized care.Material and Methods: Qualitative study, covering the period between 2013 and 2014. It uses document analysis, semi-structured interviews and focus groups to collect data and analysis of content for their analysis. The participant population includes doctors, nurses and professionals from some institutions related to telemedicine.Results: The priorities of the National Telemedicine Program are set, the cores and reference centers are operational, with trained personnel and equipment installed. Several other policy instruments and conditioning factors and facilitators of the program have been identified.Discussion: Telemedicine is contributing to the reduction of inequalities in access to health, in Cape Verde. However, the full adoption of a service based on a new technology depends on conditioning factors and facilitators, and several success factors of telemedicine, identified in the literature, are not observed and in conjunction with other existing weaknesses affect the overall development of the National Telemedicine Program. However the strengths and capabilities are highlighted opportunities to act.Conclusion: Despite the progress, some telemedicine success factors highlighted on the literature are not seen in the country.

BackgroundThe health sector has always relied on technologies. According to World Health Organization, they form the backbone of the services to prevent, diagnose, and treat illness and disease. It is increasingly viewed as the most promising tool for improving the overall quality, safety and efficiency of the health delivery system.Aim of the studyThis was to assess the current situation of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in primary healthcare in the terms of describing and classifying the existing work, identify gaps and exploring the personal experiences and the challenges of ICTs application in the primary healthcare.Subjects and methodsA mixed research method in the form of sequential explanatory design was applied. In the quantitative phase a cross-sectional study was conducted among 172 family physicians using a predesigned questionnaire. Followed by qualitative data collection among 35 participants through focused group discussions.ResultsNearly half of the physicians have ICTs in their work and they were trained on it. None of them developed a community-based research using ICTs technology. Training on ICTs showed a statistically significant difference regarding the availability and the type of ICTs present in the workplace (P<0.05). Focused group discussion revealed that the majority of the participants believe that there is poor commitment of policymaker toward ICTs utilization in the primary care. Nearly 97% thinks that there is insufficient budget allocated for ICTs utilization in the workplace. Almost 88% of the participants demanded more incentives for ICTs users than non-user at the workplace.ConclusionsICTs resources are underutilized by health information professionals. Lack of funds, risk of instability of the electric supply and lack of incentives for ICTs users were the most common barriers to ICTs implementation thus a steady steps toward budget allocation and continuous training is needed.

AbstractObjectiveTelemedicine uses information and communication technologies to provide services in the field where the distance is a critical factor. The aim of the present study is to describe the experience of a synchronous telemedicine between two hospitals in Spain and Angola.MethodsThis is a retrospective observational study of all synchronous telemedicine sessions conducted between the Hospital Nossa Senhora da Paz in Angola and the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital in Spain from January 2011 to December 2014.ResultsSeventy-two cases were discussed in the telemedicine sessions. The average age of patients was 18.02 (SD 13.75) years and mostly women (54.38 percent). Reasons to discuss the cases were 46.47 percent doubts in the diagnosis and therapeutic management, 15.47 percent were purely formative cases, and only 8.45 percent treatment doubt. At the time of presentation, 29 percent of the patients were already diagnosed, 95 percent of whom with infectious disease diagnostic, and from the undiagnosed patients 36 percent presented a febrile syndrome.ConclusionThis study shows the viability of synchronous telemedicine between European and African countries without an excessively sophisticated technology.

This paper discusses the use of three published models, the technology acceptance model (TAM), Rogers diffusion of innovation theory (IDT), and the Triandis theory of interpersonal behaviour (TIB), and attempts to bring them together in an integrated model to better predict the adoption of new information and communication technologies by a cohort of health professionals within UK primary care in an attempt to aid implementers in bringing technology in at an organizational level.

The reference services have evolved and changed since the introduction of information and communication technologies in academia. Since its inception at the end of the XIX century great changes have taken place, especially when we refer to access to the enormous range of data and information available. The article approaches concepts of reference services and portrays reference services in Brazilian university libraries. Its purpose is to characterize Brazilian reference librarians and the medium in which reference services occur. The methodology used in this study integrates elements of qualitative and quantitative research. To collect data, the questionnaire was developed and made available to digital librarians in reference services of Brazilian university libraries. The results show a majority, female, between the ages of 35 and 40, post-graduated for a maximum of ten years, with a higher education in librarianship working in a university library, for a maximum of ten years and in reference services for a maximum of five years, linked to some central library or library system and that seek continuous training in courses, training and events in the area in which it operates, in short periods. The reference services occur in digital and face-to-face, the main information sources are the periodicals, theses and dissertations, made available and accessed through the portal informational resources of electronic journals and databases, mainly in the health and biological areas. The communication process for the reference transaction occurs predominantly with the use e-mail and landline telephones, social networks are used by most libraries, with Facebook and Twitter being the most used, mainly in the dissemination of products and services. The communication is carried out by librarians, prevailing in the Portuguese language.

As tecnologias digitais fazem parte do cotidiano, em equipamentos que utilizamos desde o preparo do café da manhã à programação do despertador eletrônico na hora de dormir. Os aplicativos disponíveis nos dispositivos móveis possuem variadas funções, porém aqueles que permitem uma rápida comunicação com a rede de contatos estão entre os mais utilizados, como o app WhatsApp Messenger. Com interface de fácil compreensão, permite envio de arquivos de texto, voz, vídeos, fotos, documentos e outros, sendo uma maneira simples de comunicação, substituindo, em determinadas ocasiões, ligações telefônicas e SMS. A aproximação desse recurso tecnológico do cotidiano com a vida profissional e acadêmica converte-se em um recurso facilitador no acesso a materiais de interesse por meio de compartilhamento de arquivos ou discussões em grupos com interesse comum. Dessa forma, o presente artigo tem por objetivo apresentar uma investigação sobre o aplicativo WhatsApp como uma possibilidade de auxílio na formação continuada de professores. Para construção desta investigação, aplicamos um questionário a um grupo de 24 professores, obtendo o retorno de 23 instrumentos, analisando as respostas por meio de Análise Textual Discursiva. Como resultados, emergiram duas categorias: Contribuições do aplicativo WhatsApp à formação docente e Considerações à utilização do aplicativo WhatsApp na formação de professores.Palavras-chave: WhatsApp. Formação de professores. Tecnologias digitais da informação e comunicação.ABSTRACTThey are in the devices that we use from the time we are preparing breakfast, until the time we set the alarm in bedtime. The apps available in the mobile devices own multiple functions, however those that allow a quick communication are the most popular, for example WhatsApp Messenger, this app has an easy to understand interface and allow sharing to friends text messages, voice messages, videos, photos, files and others. It is a simpler way to communicate and can substitute voice calls and SMS. The access to these daily technology resources in the professional and academic life, become a easier way to share and receive interesting material by the common interest groups. The purpose of this article is to present the WhatsApp as a possibility to aid in the continuous training of teachers. To construct our analysis, we applied a questionnaire to a group of 24 teachers, obtaining the return of 23 of these instruments, analyzing the answers through Discursive Textual Analysis. As a result, two categories emerged: contributions from the WhatsApp application to teacher training and considerations on the use of the WhatsApp application in teacher training.Keywords: WhatsApp. Teacher training. Una sociedad en constante cambio tecnológico exige profesionales de la enseñanza en formación continua. Entre las principales competencias docentes que debe adquirir actualmente el profesorado, durante el proceso de formación inicial, podemos destacar el uso educativo de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC) y  el trabajo en equipo. A través de esta experiencia de innovación centrada en el desarrollo de una dinámica de trabajo fundamentada en el aprendizaje cooperativo y la utilización del programa Courselab, se exige al alumnado ciertas destrezas específicas en el dominio, tanto del PC en su conjunto, como de la navegación a través de Internet y de la capacidad de trabajo y de resolución en equipo. En definitiva, se pretende completar la formación de los futuros  docentes en entornos TIC, para que puedan desempeñar procesos de enseñanza/aprendizaje que respondan, verdaderamente, a los intereses y motivaciones del alumnado y puedan contribuir a la mejora del éxito escolar. Los resultados de este estudio indican que estos profesores en formación, demandan el uso de herramientas similares que les motiven y se adecuen a los procesos de enseñanza aprendizaje, concluyendo con una valoración positiva tanto de la experiencia como del propio desarrollo de la asignatura.       A technological society in permanent evolution requires teaching professionals with continuous training. Among the main teaching skills that teachers must currently acquire  during process of initial training, we emphasize the educational use of Information and Communication Technologies  (in Spanish its acronym is TIC) and teamwork. Through this innovation experience focused on developing a workflow based on cooperative learning using CourseLab application, specific student skills are required in PC use,  navigation through Internet and ability for teamwork and problem resolution. Definitely, we pretend to complete training of future teachers in ICT environments, so they could perform teaching / learning processes  in order to match students interests and motivations, and may contribute to improvement of school success. Results of this study indicate that training teachers demand the use of similar tools to motivate themselves and adapt to teaching and learning processes. We conclude with a positive assessment of both experience and development of the subject.

<p class="0abstract"><span lang="EN-US">Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have become essential tools for the development of quality educational practices. The special situation of COVID-19 has evidenced the problem of the teacher training. This work investigates the perception of the future teachers of Early Childhood Education about the use of ICT and the policies developed by the Government of the Canary Islands regarding the provision of resources, materials and training. The study had a sample of 110 teachers in training from the University of La Laguna, the results showed agreement regarding the quality and quantity of training received, however, despite not showing interest in continuous training in ICT, they consider fundamentally mastering this competence to improve the quality of the educational response in the Canary Islands.</span></p>

This chapter explores the role that information sharing has on the collective decisions made in supply chain management. The authors identify information sharing as the critical factor in reasoning that occurs as stakeholders along the supply chain collaboratively make decisions. However, a shared conceptual model is required for determining what information must be shared. Their model identifies five elementsin information system management related to shared logistics projects: the enterprise‘s solutions (for each stakeholder and for the entire reasoning community), their deals, sharing management, organizational features and information and communication technologies related to the management of shared information. Moreover, the main accelerating and limitating factors are overviewed.The chapter illustrates the applicability of the model with a case study on the distribution of newspapers in France.
