The essential oil of ‘Gannanzao’ orange peel was extracted by hydrodistillation, and the extraction conditions were optimized by Box–Behnken response surface methodology. The components of essential oil were analyzed by GC-MS. Thirty-nine different components were detected, accounting for 99.59% of the total oil. Limonene (88.07%) was the prominent component. The optimal extraction conditions were as follows: liquid material ratio of 8.4:1 (mL/g), sodium chloride concentration of 5.3%, and distillation time of 3.5 h. The Cell Counting Kit-8 assay showed that ‘Gannanzao’ orange peel essential oil had good dose-dependent inhibition effect on the proliferation of HepG2 hepatoma cells and HCT116 colorectal cancer cells. When the concentration of the essential oil was 0.6 μL/mL or higher, the viability rate of both cancer cells became lower than 13.0%. The transwell assay indicated the essential oil can inhibit migration of both cancer cells at the concentration of 0.3 μL/mL.

Background: Gastric cancer(GC) is currently one of the major malignancies that threatens human lives and health. Anlotinib is a novel small-molecule that inhibits angiogenesis to exert anti-tumor effects. However, the function in gastric cancer is incompletely understood. Objective: The aim of the present study was to investigate the anti-tumor effects and molecular mechanisms of anlotinib combined with dihydroartemisinin (DHA) in SGC7901 gastric cancer cells. Method: Different concentrations of anlotinib and DHA were used to treat SGC7901 gastric cancer cells, after which cell proliferation was measured. Drug interactions of anlotinib and DHA were analyzed by the Chou-Talalay method with CompuSyn software. proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, migration, and angiogenesis were measured using the cell counting kit-8 (CCK8) assay, flow cytometry, Transwell invasion assays, scratch assays, and chicken chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assays. proliferation-associated protein (Ki67), apoptosis-related protein (Bcl-2), and vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) were quantified by Western bloting. Results: The combination of 2.5 μmol/L of anlotinib and 5 of μmol/L DHA was highly synergistic in inhibiting cell growth, significantly increased the apoptosis rate and suppressed obviously the invasion and migration capability and angiogenesis of gastric cancer cells. In addition, the expression levels of Ki67, Bcl-2, and VEGF-A, as well as angiogenesis, were significantly decreased in the Combination of drugs compared with in control and either drug alone. Conclusion: The combination of anlotinib and DHA showed synergistic antitumor activity, suggesting their potential in treating patients with gastric cancer.

: In this research, the extraction of essential oil from Calotropis Procera with the family name of Asclepiadaceae, by supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2) solvent has been investigated in detail, and the yield and chemical profile of the extracts achieved by this method were compared with those resulted by the conventional Hydro distillation method. To optimize the process parameters of CO2 supercritical extraction (SCE) of the Calotropis Procera, the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) with central composite design (CCD) was employed. The effects of temperature, pressure, and extraction time on the oil yield are considered for investigation. Results showed that the data were sufficiently fitted into the second-order polynomial model. The extraction conditions, including pressure, temperature, and extraction time, were studied between 150-200 bar, 40-50 ºC, and 50-100 min, respectively. The optimal conditions are achieved as the temperature of 47.19ºC, the pressure of 172.2 bar, and time of 86 minutes with the retrieval rate of 31.39%.

Background: Numerous researches have demonstrated that miR-142-5p plays significant roles in several cancers, although the functional characteristic of miR-142-5p in breast cancer has not been determined. This study is designed to explore the biological significance of miR-142-5p in breast cancer clinical implication and mechanism of action. Methods: The differential expression patterns of miR-142-5p and Sorbin and SH3 domain-containing protein 1 and correlations between them and clinical significances were analyzed based on data from database. The expression levels of miR-142-5p in breast cancer cells were detected using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. Cell counting kit-8, transwell, and wound healing assays were used to explore the potential functions of miR-142-5p in breast cancer cells. In addition, bioinformatics prediction analysis and luciferase reporter assay were utilized to predict and identify the potential target gene of miR-142-5p. A rescue experiment was conducted by transfecting miR-142-5p inhibitors and si-Sorbin and SH3 domain-containing protein 1 into cells to explore miR-142-5p/Sorbin and SH3 domain-containing protein 1 pairs on breast cancer cells behaviors. Results: The analysis results showed that miR-142-5p was highly expressed in patients with breast cancer, while Sorbin and SH3 domain-containing protein 1 presented a trend of low expression. The clinical significances analysis suggested that the overexpression of miR-142-5p is closely correlated with metastasis, while low expression of Sorbin and SH3 domain-containing protein 1 is correlated with clinicopathological characteristics and poor overall survival in patients with breast cancer. In vitro exploration, the expression of miR-142-5p was upregulated in breast cancer cells and inhibition of miR-142-5p expression significantly reduced the proliferation, invasion, and migration of breast cancer cells. Through rescue experiments, breast cancer cells proliferation, invasion, and migration reduction induced by silencing of miR-142-5p were reversed via knockdown Sorbin and SH3 domain-containing protein 1. Conclusion: Our findings insinuate that miR-142-5p functions as a positive regulator of promoting breast cancer cells biological behaviors and clinical metastasis, possibly regulated by targeting Sorbin and SH3 domain-containing protein 1, thus providing valuable information in the development of preventive or even therapeutic strategies for utilizing miR-142-5p as a promising target.

Pomelo leaves oil has many applications regarding hair nourishment and stimulation. Recently, new methods of extracting essential oil used have been increasingly developed to replace traditional methods. In this research, maximization of essential oils yield from Citrus grandis was studied by the combination of microwave assisted hydro-distillation (MAHD) and response surface methodology (RSM). We found that the maximum essential oil yield was 0.3197 % with 91.3 % desirability corresponding to factors such as material and water ratiosof 3.04:1, extraction time at 62.76 min and microwave power of 482.17 W. ANOVA analysis for quadratic model also gives favourable outcome including the high determination coefficient (R2 = 0.9443), significant F-value and p-value of coefficients. All these values indicate that this model is significant between experimental and predicted variables.
