Nowadays, the buzzwords for organizations to be prepared for the competitive environment’s challenges are sustainability, digitalization, resilience and agility. However, despite the fact that these concepts have come into common use at the level of both scholars and practitioners, the nature of the relation between sustainability and resilience has not yet been sufficiently clarified. Above all, there is still no evidence of what factors determine greater resilience to change in an organization that also wants to be more sustainable, especially in times of crisis and discontinuity. This research aims to explore from a theoretical point of view, through the construction of a conceptual model, how these dimensions interact to help the business to become strategically resilient by leveraging digitization and agility as enablers. A new view of resilience arises from the study, which goes beyond the well-known ability to absorb or adapt to adversity, to also include a strategic attribute that could help companies capture change-related opportunities to design new ways of doing business under stress. A key set of strategically agile processes, enabled by digitalization, creates strategic resilience that also includes a proactive, opportunity-focused attitude in the face of change. Strategic resilience to lead to organizational sustainability must be understood as a multi-domain concept quite similar to the holistic view of sustainability: environment, economy and society. Finally, the research offers a set of propositions and a theoretical framework that can be empirically validated.

Mobile advertising holds strong promises to become the most highly targeted advertising medium offering new ways to target messages to users. By utilizing mobile advertising, companies can run marketing campaigns targeted to tens of thousands of people with a fraction of the costs and time in comparison to other direct marketing mediums. However, as mobile advertising is a novel approach, many aspects of it still need further investigation. Little is known regarding the effectiveness of mobile advertising campaigns and the factors contributing to their success. This chapter aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the advertising space and its influencing factors. First, the study investigates factors that influence mobile advertising from both the industry’s and consumer’s point of view. Second, based on a review of previous studies in the field, the author proposes a conceptual model for mobile advertising, which categorizes the factors in different groups and provides a holistic view of their impact in the mobile advertising space.

Do ponto de vista teórico, o artigo aborda o conceito de intelectual de Carlos Eduardo Vieira, os conceitos de trajetória, campo e capital de Pierre Bourdieu e redes de sociabilidade de Jean-François Sirinelli.* * *This article is part of studies conducted in the field of the History of Education with focus on intellectual history and women’s history that proposed the analysis of Mariana Coelho (1874-1954), intellectual, feminist and Portuguese educator’s trajectory, who arrived in the state of Paraná in 1893. Coelho lived in Curitiba, and stayed active until the 1940s. In that period, in addition to her collaboration in many local press’s journals, Coelho produced and published six books. As passage for this article, it was decided to analyze the biweekly column Chronica da Moda, published by Coelho in the Curitiba’s newspaper Diário da Tarde. While the column addressed subjects considered feminists – in that context – Mariana Coelho used the space given to her to discuss feminism, women’s rights, women’s conditions in the face of professionalization and public presence, as well as the relevance of women’s education to occupy this new social environment. Columns published in 1901 were used as references for this article, since, in those Coelho publically defended women’s rights to vote and feminism, which placed her in a public debate with other intellectuals of the time. From a theoretical point of view, this article approaches Carlos Eduardo Vieira’s intellectual concept, Pierre Bourdieu’s trajectory, field and capital concepts, and Jean-François Sirinelli‘s sociability network.

This research has two main objectives. Firstly, this research contributes to defining the concept of export entrepreneurship from a theoretical point of view, and this is a contribution taking into account the scarce and fragmented literature published about this topic. Furthermore, the authors explain export entrepreneurship dimensions – speed, degree, and scope. Thirdly, we empirically analyze the internal drivers of export entrepreneurship from the resource-based view—RBV—and the Schwartz' value approach. A conceptual model is proposed and tested with a multi-sectorial sample of 212 Spanish exporting companies. The results reveal that export entrepreneurship is positively affected by internal factors, such as export commitment, managers value, and experiential and structure resources. The results offer academic and managerial contributions for the field of export activities.

This paper explores eBay auction properties that match buyers and sellers and generates millions of sales every month. eBay’s auction is now a well known mechanism designed to make buyers and sellers feel comfortable doing business without meeting each other. In a theoretical point of view, the current matching algorithm has not solved the online auction problems because the main conditions of agents’ preferences do not satisfy when bidders are unobservable and a set of bidders is not identified. Therefore, we construct a new simplified model of matching with a given object for sale to form a seller-bidder pair to overcome the online auction issues. Specially, our model may extend for the matching mechanism of the job market.

The article provides theoretical analysis and evaluation of the timber auctions reforms in Russia. The author shows that the mechanism of the "combined auctions", which functioned until recently, is more appropriate from the theoretical point of view (and from the point of view of the Russian practice) as compared to the officially approved format of the English auction.

The paper considers the behavior of Russian enterprises during the current crisis using the data of the latest survey of 1000 manufacturing firms. Special attention is paid to features of firms planning big investment for the next 12 months. The links between current investment plans, previous investment in 2005-2008 and other factors are shown. Finally we analyze the most important barriers for doing business from the point of view of investors.

In this paper we introduce a novel block cipher based on the composition of abstract finite automata and Latin cubes. For information encryption and decryption the apparatus uses the same secret keys, which consist of key-automata based on composition of abstract finite automata such that the transition matrices of the component automata form Latin cubes. The aim of the paper is to show the essence of our algorithms not only for specialists working in compositions of abstract automata but also for all researchers interested in cryptosystems. Therefore, automata theoretical background of our results is not emphasized. The introduced cryptosystem is important also from a theoretical point of view, because it is the first fully functioning block cipher based on automata network.

The contribution attempts to integrate multiple perspectives of current largely heterogeneous graffiti scholarship. Referring to Bruno Latour’s concept »iconoclash«, we discuss graffiti from a cultural-theoretical point of view as a »version«. It appears as a semiotically oriented modification of spatially situated practices that regulate social life. Often, but not necessarily, these practices involve subversive qualities. The concept of »version« facilitates a non-normative and non-essentialist strategy of research. This enables an explorative research practice in which the complex matters of identity and space politics that are associated with graffiti can be addressed.

The article is devoted to the study of the worldviews and social contradictions in Russian society on the example of two different positions on the relationship between religion and science. According to one of these positions these relationships are defined as conflict. The second, opposing point of view says there never was and there cannot be any conflict between religion and science. In the publication such points are called “the paradigm of conflict” and “the paradigm of dialogue”. It shows, the first “paradigm” in the Soviet period of Russian history was determined by ideologization of science and was an important part of anti-religious propaganda. On the contrary, “the paradigm of dialogue” has always been represented primarily by religious thinkers. Today it is the official position of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. The official Church document “The Basis of the Social Concept” says religion and science are designed to complement each other, especially in solving ethical problems that inevitably arise in the face of modern science. However, secular scientists often see in such statements the Church’s claims to active participation in the public life, including the educational process. Representatives of the academic community often speak out against the introduction of the theological educational programs and the theological departments in secular Universities of the Russian Federation. Thus, in contemporary Russian society some continue to believe that there is a conflict between religion and science, while others insist on the need for dialogue.

The pericope adulterae (John 7:53–8:11) is often interpreted as an inherently feminist story, one that validates women’s humanity in the face of a patriarchal order determined to reduce sexual sinners and women more generally to the status of object. Reading this story within a framework of queer narratology, however, leads to a different point of view, one that challenges the consequences of seeking rescue from a god and a text that are both quite willing to forge male homosocial bonds at a woman’s expense. As the history of this story also shows, texts and their meanings remain unsettled and therefore open to further unpredictable and contingent elaboration. Pondering my own feminist commitments, I attempt to imagine a world and a story where a woman is a person and Jesus is in need of rescue. Perhaps such a world is possible. Or perhaps it is not.
