The objective of this article was to examine multicultural sustainability with reference to appropriate manners suitable for creating an atmosphere of mutual acceptability. The focus was on previous early education among the intercultural teachers. The participants included ten teachers, five Muslims and five non-Muslim, with intercultural backgrounds, who were selected to be involved in this study. A structured interview was employed, and a thematic analysis was performed on the basis of the research findings. The findings revealed that there were several themes resulting from conducted interviews that were centered around understandings of multicultural sustainability based on learning experiences in previous early education. When evaluating the intercultural awareness of mutual acceptability within the context of a multicultural background, among the themes operating as key strategic elements for achieving multicultural sustainability through mutual acceptance were situational experience, mutual understanding, mutual trust, and awareness of mutual responsibility with a view to maintaining intercultural relations. This study contributes to the expansion of strategies employed by intercultural teachers in a modern context, with respect to a meaningful concern for acceptance in ensuring the achievement of multicultural adaptability.

Although providing support to underachievers has always been an important domain of activities of school counselors in school, there are almost no studies in our country that focus on the opinion of school counselors on the problem of underachievement. The aim of our research was to get acquainted with the meanings that school counselors ascribe to underachievement. The points of our interest were how school counselors define this phenomenon, how they describe an underachiever and what their experiences in working with these students are. The research sample was convenient and included 34 school counselors from 24 secondary schools in Serbia. We used a semi-structured interview, and qualitative thematic analysis was performed on the collected material. Research findings indicate that the majority of school counselors define underachievement as the lack of ability or readiness of individuals to respond to the demands set by school. When describing an underachiever a number of school counselors speak only about his/her behaviour, while a small number also mention the mechanisms underlying such behaviour. When it comes to their experience in working with underachievers, a considerable number of school counselors pointed to the complexity and delicacy of their own role in the process of selection of adequate support strategies. The obtained findings, among other things, suggest that it is necessary that school counselors re-examine those personal beliefs about underachieve?ment which can be a serious impediment to solving this problem.

Background: Newly qualified nurses are known to experience a range of feelings and fears in the first transitional 12 months post-qualifying, with absence and turnover among potential outcomes. Aim: To evaluate the personal professional mentor role and scheme, a new pastoral support initiative, from the perspective of participating newly qualified nurses. Methods: Newly qualified paediatric nurses (n=10), who had been assigned a personal professional mentor (an experienced nurse who worked elsewhere in their employing NHS Trust), completed a semi-structured interview. The data were analysed using thematic analysis. Findings: The personal professional mentor counteracted some aspects of transition isolation for the newly qualified nurses. They were an independent, accessible, experienced confidant and a welcome new supportive role. Conclusion: Pairing experienced nurses with newly qualified nurses provided a new type of workplace support during transition. Inexpensive to set up and run, it is an easy addition to any portfolio of support strategies.

<p class="1"><span lang="X-NONE">Over the past several decades, a substantial body of research on second language acquisition has been provided. The current study was an attempt to investigate language teachers’ views on applying research findings in their every day practice of language teaching through a critical lens. Data for this qualitative study was collected by means of a semi structured interview with 10 language teachers teaching English at different language institutes in Iran. Analyses of data revealed that, although teachers find second language acquisition research a useful tool for their professional development; they do not usually consult bodies of research in their every day teaching practice. They report problems in applying second language research in their practice due to problems with practicality, particularity, and possibility. The findings suggest that language teachers need to be exposed to insight from SLA research and practice.</span></p>

Objective: The purpose of this qualitative study was to identify perceptions and barriers to physical activity in childhood and adulthood among Latina adults. Methods: We conducted 3 focus groups, 2 dyadic interviews, and an individual interview using semi-structured interview guides with 23 Latina women aged 21-35. A thematic analysis approach employing inductive and deductive coding was utilized to code, categorize, and summarize data into themes. Results: The themes that emerged focused on: (1) physical activity is enjoyable; (2) family influenced physical activity; (3) different lifestyle in the US influenced physical activity; (4) physical activity is important for health; and (5) responsibilities (eg, work, caregiving) as barriers to physical activity in adulthood. Conclusions: Perceptions and barriers to physical activity experienced in both childhood and adulthood should be considered in the promotion of physical activity among Latinas.

<p>In the context of religious education, multicultural paradigm is the main foundation organizing of teaching and learning process. Religious education requires more than just curriculum transformation, it also changes in the religious perspective of an exclusive view into multicultural outlook, or at least to maintain the views and attitudes of an inclusive and pluralism. Realized or not, these groups are culturally and ethnically distinct advance religion, often the victims of racism and impact of the larger society. Therefore, Islamic religious education as a discipline which include the national education have a duty to inculcate awareness of the differences, considering Islam is the majority religion in Indonesia, the postscript is a multi religious country. Growing awareness of religious diversity, required in the new format in the Islamic religious education with teaching multicultural vision. Islamic religious education learning brings a multicultural vision of dialogic approaches to inculcate awareness of living together in diversity and difference. This learning is built on the spirit of equality relationships, mutual trust, mutual understanding and appreciating the similarities, differences and uniqueness, as well as interdepedensi. This is an innovation and an integral and comprehensive reform in charge of religious education that is free of prejudice, racism, ambiguous and stereotyping. Religious education provides recognition of multicultural vision of plurality, learning tool for cross-border encounters, and the indoctrination transform to dialogue.</p>

This research showed many English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students in Aceh struggle in learning English writing as they had a lack of interest in it. This descriptive qualitative study aimed to find out in what ways Facebook Group might facilitate the enjoyment of the students in learning this skill. The data were collected using interviews and was analyzed through thematic analysis. The interview was done one by one at a time. Ten students from UIN Ar-Raniry were purposely chosen for the interviews in this research. The research findings show that there are four themes found that caused the participants enjoyment of the learning writing in the group: (1) it provides unlimited timing; (2) it facilitates the participants’ freedom and creativity; (3) it provides the interactive feedback; and (4) it helps them in brainstorming the ideas. These four themes directly enhance the students’ situational interest in learning writing that related to an environmental factor, but it results in the development of their individual interest. This research suggests that the teacher should combine the learning process in the classroom with the Facebook group media to fasten the enhancement of the learners’ writing skills. For the learners, it is suggested that they should utilize their social media such as Facebook group not only as their communication media but also for developing their learning in writing.

The development of education is growing, and the technology-infused lesson is a powerful tool to attract pupils' attention, especially in reading. This approach can be seen as an adaptive movement to equip the learning process and the fourth industrial revolution. Nowadays, the demand of the technology-infused lesson is increasing as it is proven to help pupils learn the language better. Hence, this study explores multimedia learning as an approach to teaching reading comprehension. Besides, this study aims to answer two questions, which are the effectiveness of multimedia learning in helping indigenous pupils learn comprehension and which elements of media are effective in enhancing reading comprehension among indigenous pupils in Malaysia. Two instruments used to collect the data from 20 indigenous pupils in one primary school located in Kluang, Malaysia, and an action research design was used to achieve the purpose. The respondents were chosen through the judgment sampling technique. SPSS was used to analyse the data collected from the test, and thematic analysis was employed to analyse the semi-structured interview. The result shows that the implementation of multimedia learning in teaching reading comprehension is useful as the combination of multiple elements of media scaffolded the process of understanding. On the other hand, audio is the least effective in helping pupils comprehend the information.

Resumo: A Rede de Atenção Psicossocial-RAPS é constituída por serviços e dispositivos voltados para a superação da lógica manicomial, priorizando dentre outros aspectos, o exercício da cidadania e inserção social das pessoas com transtornos mentais. Neste cenário, compreende-se que a Residência Multiprofissional em Saúde Mental é relevante para o processo de qualificação dos serviços, no que concerne ao fortalecimento da rede de atenção psicossocial, à integralidade da atenção e qualificação das práticas dos trabalhadores dos serviços de saúde. Objetivou-se nesse estudo, conhecer as concepções da primeira turma da Residência Multiprofissional em Saúde Mental da Paraíba acerca do cuidado em saúde mental prestado na RAPS de João Pessoa e Cabedelo. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva-exploratória, desenvolvida por abordagem qualitativa, realizada com 8 residentes. Utilizou-se uma entrevista semiestruturada, e para sua interpretação, seguiu-se a análise de conteúdo. Os resultados indicaram, a partir dos relatos das residentes, fragilidades concernentes à desvalorização do trabalhador e da saúde mental e condições de trabalho precárias, por exemplo, dificuldades relevantes que estão em discordância com as propostas do novo modelo de atenção psicossocial e da reforma psiquiátrica brasileira. No entanto, os achados da pesquisa também evidenciaram potencialidades da RAPS e contribuições importantes dos residentes nestes serviços, às quais estão em consonância com os pressupostos do cuidado ancorado na atenção psicossocial, como o apontamento de profissionais identificados com a saúde mental e práticas das residentes que favoreceram o empoderamento, autonomia e protagonismo dos usuários. AbstractThe Psychosocial Attention Network (RAPS) consists of services and devices designed to overcome the asylum logic, prioritizing, among other aspects, the exercise of citizenship and social insertion of people with mental disorders. In this scenario, it is understood that the Multiprofessional Residency in Mental Health is relevant to the qualification process of the services, regarding the strengthening of the psychosocial care network, to the integral attention and qualification of the practices of health service workers. The objective of this study was to understand the conceptions of the first group of the Multiprofessional Residency in Mental Health of Paraíba regarding the mental health care provided in the RAPS of João Pessoa and Cabedelo. It is a descriptive-exploratory research, developed in the qualitative approach, carried out with 8 residents. A semi-structured interview was used, and for its interpretation, content analysis was followed. The results indicated, from the residents' reports, weaknesses concerning worker devaluation and mental health and precarious working conditions, for example, relevant difficulties that are in disagreement with the proposals of the new psychosocial care model and the Brazilian psychiatric reform. However, the research findings also highlighted the potential of RAPS and the important contributions of residents in these services, which are in line with the assumptions of care anchored in psychosocial care, such as the assignment of professionals identified with mental health and practices of residents who favored the empowerment, autonomy and protagonism of users.Keywords: Psychosocial Attention Network; Multiprofessional Residence; Mental health.

Background: Transitioning is a common phenomenon that happens such as in a career shift provoked by either internal or external factors. This phenomenon also occurs to nurses becoming lawyers. Considering its complexity, such transition entails a process.Purpose: This study aimed to describe and uncover the preparations, motivations, ad barriers of nurses who transitioned into nurse-lawyers in the Philippines. Methods: The study employed descriptive-qualitative research design utilizing twenty participants selected through purposive and snowball or referral sampling techniques. A semi-structured interview guide was used for the data collection using Google form. Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis was utilized as the primary treatment of the transcribed data. Strict observance of ethical standards in conducting research was ensured.Results: The study found out several themes and subcategories from the thematic analysis conducted. These included (1) “pre-planning emotive expressions”; (2) “motivations of career shift”; (3) “support mechanisms to afford career shift”; (4) “barriers to career shift”; (5) “the interconnectedness of law and nursing”; and (6) “impacts of the career shift.” Conclusion: Generally, the career shift of the nurse-lawyers presented significant themes pertinent to their preparations, motivations, and barriers in becoming lawyers. Apparently, these are all primordial in the career transition of the nurse-lawyers. Essentially, the study provides preliminary findings that may become springboard in the construction of a grounded theory that would explicate the transition of the nurse-lawyers as a phenomenon uniting and expanding nursing and the practice of law as complementary sciences.

Introduction: India has become the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) epicentre with the highest number of COVID-19 cases being reported each day. This has caused a major impact on healthcare workers including dentists across the country. Most dental clinics in Tamil Nadu were closed during the initial two months of draconian lockdown enforced by the Government of India (GOI). As partial lockdown measures were introduced over the subsequent months, dental clinics have started functioning and receiving patients for emergency dental treatment. Aim: This study was done among dentists practicing in Tamil Nadu amidst the COVID-19 pandemic to understand how the pandemic has impacted their professional and personal lives. Materials and Methods: A qualitative study using online focus group discussion was conducted among 32 dentists practicing in Tamil Nadu, India using a structured interview guide in the month of July 2020. After data collection, the focus group discussions were transcribed manually and an inductive thematic analysis was performed using Braun and Clarke’s six phases for thematic analysis. Results: Three major themes were identified after the thematic analysis namely limitations of off-campus distance learning, challenges faced in dental practice during the COVID-19 pandemic and social life impacts of COVID-19 among dentists. Conclusion: Dentists in this study felt that the COVID-19 pandemic was negatively impacting their dental practices owing to lack of clarity in COVID-19 protocols, lack of patient awareness, high cost of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), increasing overhead expenses, ergonomic difficulties in treating patients while wearing PPE, patients’ unwillingness to pay higher charges for treatment under COVID-19 protocols and fear of contracting COVID-19. Majority of participants in this study did not report any negative impacts of social isolation as many of them had stayed with their families during the lockdown.
