Organizations grow and excel with knowledge sharing; on the other hand, knowledge hiding is a negative behavior that impedes innovation, growth, problem solving, and timely correct decision making in organizations. It becomes more critical in the case of teaching hospitals, where, besides patient care, medical students are taught and trained. We assume that negative emotions lead employees to hide explicit knowledge, and in the same vein, this study has attempted to explain the hiding of explicit knowledge in the presence of relational conflicts, frustration, and irritability. We collected data from 290 employees of a public sector healthcare organization on adopted scales to test conjectured relationships among selected variables. Statistical treatments were applied to determine the quality of the data and inferential statistics were used to test hypotheses. The findings reveal that relationship conflicts positively affect knowledge hiding, and frustration partially mediates the relationship between relationship conflicts and knowledge hiding. Irritability moderates the relationship between relationship conflicts and frustration. The findings have both theoretical and empirical implications. Theoretically, the study tests a novel combination of variables, and adds details regarding the intensity of their relationships to the existing body of literature. Practically, the study guides hospital administrators in managing knowledge hiding, and informs on how to maintain it at the lowest possible level.

Orientation: Research efforts have been directed at understanding the relationship between quality of work life and organisational commitment, but these studies have not elucidated the mediating role of perceived external prestige in this relationship.Research purpose: This research seeks to close a research gap by determining the role of perceived external prestige in the relationship between quality of work life and organisational commitment amongst public sector employees in Ghana.Research approach, design and method: Theoretically guided hypotheses and models were formulated and tested with hierarchical multiple regression statistics using data from a sample of 137 employees from two public sector organisations in Ghana.Main findings: The results support the hypothesis that quality of work life is positively related to both perceived external prestige and organisational commitment. Also, perceived external prestige was found to predict organisational commitment and partially mediate the relationship between quality of work life and organisational commitment.Practical/managerial implications: The findings imply that one sure way to enhance organisational commitment of employees is by improving their quality of work life and boosting their perceptions of external prestige of the organisation. These results will be of particular interest to policymakers, public organisations and stakeholders interested in increasing organisational commitment of their employees.Contribution/value-add: The findings extend previous research by establishing the mediating role of perceived external prestige in the relationship between quality of work life and organisational commitment. If managers of organisations wish to improve organisational commitment, it is wise to institutionalise an organisational culture that promotes good quality of work life and boost the external prestige of the organisation in the employees’ mind.

Effective communication between doctor and patient, a skill not emphasized in medical education programs, is essential for patient satisfaction and optimal patient care. In many teaching hospitals, the doctor is commonly white and middle class and the patient black and indigent. Racial differences, even in the absence of social class differences, may have a negative impact on the quality of the doctor-patient relationship. The impact of racism is reviewed, and recommendations to enhance the relationship between white doctors and black patients, are made.

This paper is based on the importance of knowledge sharing to create innovation in an organization to overcome the problem of PTPN competition with the private sector. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between knowledge sharing variables, which are tacit knowledge sharing and explicit knowledge sharing, on innovation variables, which are speed innovation and quality innovation. The data collection method used a questionnaire with a sample of 100 employees and data were analyzed using canonical correlation analysis. The results of the study showed that there was an influence on each variable. Explicit knowledge sharing had influence on the speed and quality of innovation and explicit knowledge sharing had influence on the speed and quality of innovation. Conclusions from this study were that both variables had a strong relationship, so companies can consider these variables in strategic planning.

The purpose of this quantitative study is to examine the relationship between the level of ethics and integrity with Quality of Chief Integrity Officer (independence, competence, work performance) and ethical climate in the Malaysian public-sector organizations. Out of 128 questionnaires that were emailed to CIOs in the Federal level, 83 questionnaires were received and usable. The results of this study showed that the Quality of CIO (competence, work performance) and ethical climate is significantly related to the level of ethics and integrity of the public sector in Malaysia. CIO need to perform their roles such as coordinating and monitoring programs and report any breaches of integrity without fear and favour. To nurture a good ethical climate in the organization, clear policies, guideline and code of conduct should be established in all government ministries, department and statutory body in the public sector. Non-ethical conduct should be reprimanded, good ethical behavior should be rewarded accordingly and should be evident to all in the organization.

BACKGROUND: Patient safety is a key element of the quality of health services. Nurses are the largest group that care for patients, observing safe in nursing care would reduce injuries, disability, morbidity and mortality. However, high stress can lead to a decline in the quality of nursing care. AIM: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between job stress of the nurses and patient safety in a teaching hospital of Hamadan in 2017. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This is a cross-sectional study. The data was gathered by a questionnaire of Nurse’s job stress prepared by the researcher that after confirming the validity and reliability was completed by 198 nurses of three teaching hospitals of Hamadan city that were selected by simple random sampling and the checklist of patient safety that was collected by the researcher. Data analysis was done in the two levels of descriptive and analysis statistics. RESULTS: The results showed that the job stress of the nurses and patient safety (mean = 1.75 and SD = 0.114) have been at an average level. There was no statistically significant relationship between Nurse’s job stress and patient safety because the Spearman correlation coefficient showed that r = 0.007 and p = 0.919. Among the demographic factors, there was only a significant relationship between marital status and Nurse’s job stress (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Because of nursing job stress is affected by different working conditions, further studies in the many hospitals are needed. Moderate levels of patient safety are not acceptable; Therefore, heath’s policymakers should focus on providing the safety of all patients at the optimal level, with more effort to reduce the stress of their nurses at the lowest level. e optimal level, with more effort to reduce stress of their nurses at the lowest level.

BACKGROUND: Examination time is a key factor determining the relative value of clinical physicians’ examination and care quality. Whereas commitment ‎to standard prescription principles by physicians increases the likelihood of proper treatment, its effectiveness and patients’ improvement. This study aimed to determine the relationship between outpatients’ examination time and physicians prescribing quality in teaching hospitals of Ahvaz.

METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted in 550 outpatients who visited teaching hospitals of Ahvaz in 2015. The quality of the prescriptions was assessed by WHO checklist. Each prescription was scored with a score range from 0 to 21, they were divided into four equal score categories including low (0–5.25), low intermediate (5.26–10.5), high intermediate (10.5–15.75) and good (15.76–21) and using correlation and regression was analyzed.

RESULTS: The total mean of examination time and commitment to prescription principles was 4.88±0.12 min and 15.92±1.14, respectively. Correlation coefficients between outpatients’ examination time and dimensions of “legibility”, “pharmaceutical form” and “medical orders”, and the total quality of prescription were significant (p˂0.005). The relationship between examination time and prescription quality confirmed with the fitting linear regression model. Increase per minute in patient’s examination by a physician, which is about 0.33 points, was added to the basic quality scores of prescription.

CONCLUSION: There was a relationship between Examination time and dimensions of legibility, pharmaceutical form, and medical order. Considering commitment ‎to standard prescription principles, examination time, which was declared by the Health Sector Evolution Guideline, improve physicians’ prescription quality and quality of provided services of hospitals. Therefore, providing an internet schedule for examination will be extremely helpful in organizing physicians’ examination.

Abstract. Recently, Garfinkel and Critchley (2013) proposed to distinguish between three facets of interoception: interoceptive sensibility, interoceptive accuracy, and interoceptive awareness. This pilot study investigated how these facets interrelate to each other and whether interoceptive awareness is related to the metacognitive awareness of memory performance. A sample of 24 healthy students completed a heartbeat perception task (HPT) and a memory task. Judgments of confidence were requested for each task. Participants filled in questionnaires assessing interoceptive sensibility, depression, anxiety, and socio-demographic characteristics. The three facets of interoception were found to be uncorrelated and interoceptive awareness was not related to metacognitive awareness of memory performance. Whereas memory performance was significantly related to metamemory awareness, interoceptive accuracy (HPT) and interoceptive awareness were not correlated. Results suggest that future research on interoception should assess all facets of interoception in order to capture the multifaceted quality of the construct.
