There is no doubt that the correct functioning of the gastrointestinal tract is the key to good health of the whole organism. In the current living conditions, where stress, fatigue, inappropriate nutrition, and unfavorable environmental conditions have become an integral part of a modern person’s life, the disorders associated with the work of the gastrointestinal tract are quite common and strongly affect the quality of a person’s life. Therefore, an appointment with a gastroenterologist should not be postponed. This article presents the data confirming that the pathology of the digestive system stably ranks second in the structure of morbidity and causes of death, giving way to diseases of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. Modern diagnostic methods in gastroenterology (ultrasound diagnostics, esophagoscopy, gastroscopy, laparoscopy, rectoscopy, radiological studies, a large number of laboratory techniques) make it possible to identify diseases of the digestive system in the early stages and to carry out effective prevention and treatment.

The article presents data showing that the number of patients with chronic gastroenterological diseases is growing every year. Only 40 % of patients manage to achieve complete disappearance of symptoms and the onset of recovery. In 60 % of patients, drug therapy can temporarily weaken the manifestations of the disease. Often the consequence of the transition of the disease into a chronic form is self-medication, which only aggravates the course of the disease, bringing only a temporary improvement in the patient’s condition. Modern diagnostic methods in gastroenterology (ultrasound diagnostics, esophagoscopy, gastroscopy, laparoscopy, rectoscopy, radiological examinations, a large number of laboratory techniques, and others) make it possible to identify diseases of the digestive system in the early stages and to carry out effective prevention and treatment.

The article aims to assess the possibility of ultrasound scanning and dopplerstudy in the assessment of the condition of the ovaries and endometrial in patients after long intake of COC, predicting the restoration of reproductive function after the abolition of hormonal contraception. Material and methods. In 2018-2019, 37 women were examined after the abolition of oral contraceptives, which they took for a long period of time. At the time of the examination, all the patients stopped taking COC at least 2 months ago due to the fact that they were planning a pregnancy. UW the study was conducted on the apparat Voluson E8 Expert (General Electric), improving the quality of diagnostics used Automatic assessment of follicle condition based on ultrasonic echography (Sono AVCTM follicle) and tomographic ultrasound (TUI). Results. According to the study significant changes recorded 17 patients whose menstrual cycle did not recover within the first 6 months after the cancellation of COC. In a group of 20 patients with a regular menstrual cycle, the results of the study were within normal limits, pregnancy within 6 months occurred on their own in 8 of them. Conclusion. The possibilities of 3 dimensional reconstruction and programs for evaluating the follicular apparatus significantly improve the quality of ultrasound diagnostics, give more information about the presence of small follicles, blood flow in the ovarian tissue, the structure of the cortical apparatus substances and stroma, whichis the ability of a clinician to obtain a complete understanding of the condition of the ovaries and endometrial and predicting a good health of patients. The article may be of interest to obstetricians-gynecologists, ultrasound specialists, endocrinologists, reproductive specialists.

Diseases of the digestive system are by far the most common of all diseases of the internal organs. Every second inhabitant of our planet suffers from such diseases as pancreatitis, peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer, cholecystitis, and gastroenteritis, which significantly impair the quality of life and limit social and work activities. It should be noted that both men and women aged 20 to 40 are more susceptible to the pathologies. The frequency of patients’ visits to the outpatient clinic is quite high.

In the cases of majority of neurological diseases the symptoms of depression have significant influence on the worsening of the quality of patient’s life, regardless of the severity of the neurological disorders. In the most of neurodegenerative diseases the symptoms of depression often precede the appearance of neurological symptoms. Within recent years, numerous studies have been published demonstrating that disorders of depressive spectrum can be considered as a predictor of some types of dementia. Existing data regarding the methods of therapeutic intervention for depression in the clinical practice are rather scarce, scattered and often based on the «personal experience» of neurologists and psychiatrists. In some patients the diagnostics of depression in the context of neurological disorders can be difficult due to the difficulties in the establishing the contact with the patient as well as cognitive deviations related to neurological disorders. In order to facilitate this task, the effective screening diagnostic methods have been developed for the diagnosis of depression in the context of neurological diseases. The results of clinical studies performed within recent years confirm the important role of the neurologist for the evaluation and the treatment of the symptoms of depression, both at the initial stage and at the stage of remission. The purpose of the current review is to systematize the accumulated data on the disorders of depressive spectrum in the context of neurological practice, as well as to demonstrate the role of neurologist in the process of diagnosis and treatment of the symptoms of depression in neurological diseases.

The human virome, which is a collection of all the viruses that are present in the human body, is increasingly being recognized as an essential part of the human microbiota. The human gastrointestinal tract and related organs (e.g., liver, pancreas, and gallbladder)—composing the gastrointestinal (or digestive) system—contain a huge number of viral particles which contribute to maintaining tissue homeostasis and keeping our body healthy. However, perturbations of the virome steady-state may, both directly and indirectly, ignite/sustain oncogenic mechanisms contributing to the initiation of a dysplastic process and/or cancer progression. In this review, we summarize and discuss the available evidence on the association and role of viruses in the development of cancers of the digestive system.

This review provides information on the most recent findings concerning presence, origin, and role of kynurenic acid (KYNA), a tryptophan metabolite, in the digestive system. KYNA is an antagonist of both the ionotropic glutamate receptors and the alpha7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, as well as an agonist of G-protein coupled GPR35 receptor. Since the GPR35 receptor is mainly present in the gastrointestinal tract, researchers have concentrated on the digestive system in recent years. They have found that KYNA content increases gradually and significantly along the gastrointestinal tract. Interestingly, the concentration of KYNA in the lumen is much higher than in the wall of intestine. It has been documented that KYNA may have a positive influence on the number of pathologies in the gastrointestinal tract, in particular ulcers, colon obstruction, or colitis. Future studies might determine whether it is advisable to supplement KYNA to a human organism.

AbstractThe authors evaluated the role of endoscopic techniques in the diagnosis and in the potential treatment of neuroendocrine tumors (NET) localized in the gastro-entero-pancreatic system, on the basis of their experience and of the international literature. NET are rare tumors that arise from neuroendocrine cells of the gastrointestinal tract and pancreas. It is a possibility that both the digestive endoscopy and EUS play an important role in the diagnosis, staging and surveillance of this disease. In some cases, especially in the early stages, surgical endoscopy allows the treatment of such tumors.

Psychosomatic disorders are frequent in gastroenterological practice. Visceral pain and motor-evacuation disorders of the gastrointestinal tract is a common symptom of functional gastrointestinal disorders which have a multifactorial etiology. Many patients with these diseases have comorbid behavioral disorders, such as anxiety or depression, and functional gastrointestinal disorders are described as disorders of the “gastrointestinal tract-brain” axis. Chronic stress can change the central pattern of pain, as well as motor activity and permeability of the gastrointestinal tract. The multidirectional treatment for these diseases should include psychotropic drugs and groups of somatic antipsychotics and antidepressants.

Herbal therapies combined with surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy can improve the results, reduce toxicity and the frequency of side effects, improving the quality of life of patients. At all stages of antitumor treatment, as well as in the intervals between specific therapy and maintenance treatment, it is recommended to use pathogenetically justified phytoadaptogenes, tonic herbal remedies, and detoxifying complexes. There has been detected an actual trend in the development of new combined products that provides phyto medicines and sorbents in one composition.
