The article presents the results of a round table dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the restoration of Kostroma Region (in 1920s and 30s, the region’s territories belonged to nearby major cities); the meeting took place on August 27, 2021 at the information centre of the Administration of Kostroma Region. The participants of the round table considered the historical background and achievements of Kostroma Region, tried to make a historical overview of the development of the Kostroma Region and determine its prospects. The work summarises the most significant theses of the reports heard, we focus on the most important milestones in the region development history and the milestones’ current understanding, on the assimilation of previous experience by modern scientists and public figures in solving topical problems.

This chapter examines the management of the India–Pakistan border with particular reference to the border in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). The chapter begins with a brief discussion of the various terminologies used in the context of the India–Pakistan border. It provides a historical overview of the early role played by the United Nations (UN) monitoring group in helping the management of the India–Pakistan borders in J&K as well as the occasional, though minor, reworking of the border that took place between India and Pakistan in the 1950s and 1960s. The chapter then outlines the various border management practices and mechanisms used by India and Pakistan in managing the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC). The chapter provides a technical and historical background to understanding the occurrence of CFVs on the LoC and IB in J&K.

The separation of sister chromatids at anaphase, which is regulated by an E3 ubiquitin ligase called the anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C), is arguably the most important irrevocable event during the cell cycle. The APC/C and cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (Cdk1) are just two of the many significant cell cycle regulators and exert control through ubiquitylation and phosphorylation, respectively. The temporal and spatial regulation of the APC/C is achieved by multiple mechanisms, including phosphorylation, interaction with the structurally related co-activators Cdc20 and Cdh1, loading of distinct E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes, binding with inhibitors and differential affinities for various substrates. Since the discovery of APC/C 25 years ago, intensive studies have uncovered many aspects of APC/C regulation, but we are still far from a full understanding of this important cellular machinery. Recent high-resolution cryogenic electron microscopy analysis and reconstitution of the APC/C have greatly advanced our understanding of molecular mechanisms underpinning the enzymatic properties of APC/C. In this review, we will examine the historical background and current understanding of APC/C regulation.

In this paper a historical overview is presented dealing with the conception and development of devices that can be considered as robots today with the aim to identify the future challenges for roboticists. The historical background can be used as guidance for future successful developments when design data and requirements are recognized from historical well-established needs, problems and applications, which can be re-formulated through modern means for modern solutions. Thus, in the paper an overview of history of robotics is presented as based on main aspects and concepts.

Dining experience is a crucial element in international tourism because it can encourage tourists to understand local culture and has the potential to increase repeat visitation. A better understanding of tourists' dining choice behaviors is important for destination development; however, the literature has not yet fully investigated this topic, and in particular it is unclear how their behaviors change across repeat visits. This study aimed to fill these gaps by conducting semistructured in-depth interviews with young Australian tourists traveling to Japan. The analysis of the qualitative data identified four major dining choice patterns: perusing the area, searching online sources, hearing from friends or family members, and calling on previous experience. Within the four patterns, perusing the area (i.e., walking around a food district) was the most observed behavior for both first-time and repeat tourists. In addition, repeat tourists tended to choose more local and authentic food due to their motivational development from new-and-touristy to local-and-authentic dining experiences. This study's findings extend the current understanding of tourists' dining choices in the tourism literature and offer suggestions for practitioners.

The article is devoted to a historical overview and discussion of the current understanding and demarcation of the concepts “Central Europe”, “Eastern Europe” and “Central Eastern Europe”. The analysis is performed from a descriptive and comparative point of view, including a step‑by‑step generalization and separation of the above concepts and the verification of how natural, artificial or instrumental their character is, as well as by analysing their contrastive properties. In conclusion, the author has argued that the integration / disintegration and democratization / autocratization processes in the countries that used to be or now constitute different sub‑regions of Europe during the 20th and 21st centuries have led to significant and highly ambiguous changes in the spectrum of political, socio‑economic, religious, cultural (national and supranational) processes, etc. As a result, various attributes of political, socio‑economic and cultural development, in particular their diversity from the perspective of certain European sub‑regions (which are often, though mistakenly, treated as a collective category of countries of “commensurable type”), have previously predetermined and today especially predetermine the need for analysis of the history and the current state of conceptualization and demarcation of the outlined concepts.

The European Respiratory Society (ERS) International Congress 2019 in Madrid, Spain, was a platform for scientific discussion of the highest quality scientific research, cutting-edge techniques and innovative new therapies within the respiratory field. This article discusses some of the high-quality research studies presented at that Congress, with a focus on airway diseases, including asthma, COPD, small airways, bronchiectasis and cough, presented through the Airway Diseases, Asthma and COPD Assembly (Assembly 5) of the ERS. The authors establish the key take-home messages of these studies, compare their findings and place them into context of current understanding.
