Feminist literary criticism as criticism schools is marked by gender, widespread gender awareness, and feminine consciousness is its elementary characteristics. This study introduces the different phases of Feminism through various insidious social and cultural mores. The main objective of this study to Criticism the Salient Features of Feminist Literary. The main content of this paper is divided into three aspects, the first, second, and third wave of feminism from the 19th century to date. Methodology Employed based on qualitative research. The secondary sources of this study are taken from various books, articles, diaries, proposals, official records, archives, Govt. Gazetteers, Manuals and sites, and so on.

Abstract. Many Muslims in the Riau Islands do not know the history of the development of Islamic theory from the center of power to spread to various corners. This is as the existence of the Great Mosque of Raja Haji Abdul Ghani (MBRHAG) on Buru Island, Karimun. Thus, to uncover the existence of this mosque, qualitative research methods are used so that history, architecture, and socio-religious functions can be known. Based on the results of the study it was concluded that the establishment of MBRHAG was initiated by Raja Haji Abdul Ghani. He was the first Amir (sub-district level government) of the kingdom of Riau-Lingga on Buru Island, in the 19th century. The architecture is a Chinese. Therefore, on the right side of this mosque is around 200 m, there is also the Sam Po Teng Temple and the Tri Dharma Dewa Bumi. Thus, the close location of the mosque with Chinese and Confucian worship houses's shows a harmonious relationship between Malay Muslims and Chinese Buddhists. In fact, in the continuation of this relationship there was information that a Chinese Buddhist had joined a Muslim friend to fast for half a month of Ramadan.Keywords: Mosque, Malay Muslims, Chinese Buddhists/Confucians, Harmonious RelationsAbstrak. Umat Islam di Kepulauan Riau banyak yang tidak mengenal sejarah perkembangan ajaran Islam dari pusat kekuasaan hingga tersebar ke berbagai pelosok. Hal ini sebagaimana keberadaan Masjid Besar Raja Haji Abdul Ghani (MBRHAG) di Pulau Buru, Karimun. Dengan demikian, untuk mengungkapkan keberadaan masjid ini digunakan metode penelitian kualitatif  agar dapat diketahui sejarah, arsitektur, dan fungsi sosial keagamaannya.  Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa pendirian MBRHAG diprakarsai oleh Raja Haji Abdul Ghani. Ia adalah Amir (pemerintah setingkat kecamatan) pertama kerajaan Riau-Lingga di Pulau Buru, pada abad ke-19. Adapun arsitekturnya adalah seorang Tionghoa. Karena itu, di sebelah kanan masjid ini sekitar 200 m juga terdapat Kelenteng Sam Po Teng dan cetya Tri Dharma Dewa Bumi. Dengan demikian, dekatnya lokasi masjid dengan rumah ibadah umat Tionghoa dan Khonghucu ini menunjukkan hubungan yang harmonis antara muslim Melayu dengan Budhis Tionghoa. Bahkan, dalam kelangsungan hubungan ini terdapat informasi seorang Buddhis Tionghoa pernah ikut temannya yang beragama muslim untuk berpuasa selama setengah bulan Ramadhan.Kata Kunci: Masjid, Muslim Melayu, Buddhis/Khonghucu Tionghoa, Hubungan Harmonis

The article examines the concept of an epic novel – a special historical genre phenomenon that arose as a result of the successful implementation by Russian classics of the second half of the 19th century. The author discusses the pseudo-names that appeared in Soviet literary criticism due to its politicisation and ideologisation back in the 1920s –30s and she shows that the terms of epic novel and epopee novel were used at the indicated time for the sake of the Communist party tasks, but contrary to their true meanings. As noted in the article, this required a rejection of the traditions of Russian classical literature, a rejection of the genetic memory of the universal vision of the world and human inherent in the epic novel. Analytical comprehension of the polemics of literary critics of different generations made it possible to show that a number of researchers who rightly saw the problem, forgot to “rehabilitate” the above concepts and transferred the line of denial of Soviet ideology to the terms themselves. The author of the article explains the importance of using the concept of an epic novel in its true meaning, in relation to the voluminous works of Russian classical literature.

The paper considers the methodological principles of Yu.I. Aykhenvald’s literary criticism. Attention is drawn to the relationship between Aykhenvald’s declared “immanent method” and “principled impressionism” and his own “philosophy of life”. It is proved that Aykhenvald’s version of “impressionism” is much closer to the theory of symbolism than it seemed to contemporaries and researchers. The analysis takes into account both the aesthetic “sympathies” (Apollon Grigoryev, Vladimir Solovyov, Oscar Wilde, Remy de Gourmont, Émile Faguet) and “antipathies” (Vissarion Belinsky, Vasily Rozanov), that influenced Aykhenvald’s interpretation of the heritage of literary critics, philosophers, and writers of the 19th century — Pushkin, Tolstoy, Chekhov.

The paper discusses a little-known Serbian poetess from the second half of the 19th century, Danica-Zorka Raskovic (1849-1910). Based on archival research and a lot of new information, it also features her compiled biography. All her poetical works which she wrote between ages 17 and 19 are presented in the text. They include: Eulogy (Slavopoj, two collections, 1866, 1867), Euphony (Milosplet, 1868) and Elegy (Tugospev, 1868). The last book, Elegy, composed as an integral work, is an attempt at writing an epic. Eulogy celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Principality of Serbia (1815-1865), glorifies the Obrenovic dynasty, especially Prince Mihailo, Anka Obrenovic and other persons. Literary criticism judged the seventeen-year-old poetess? work too harshly (S. Novakovic, V. Jagic). However, her appearance on the 1870s Serbian literary scene is interesting, because she is one of the oldest Belgrade poetesses.

In terms of newspaper-magazine reviews of Alexander Ostrovsky's works, published in the 1850s-70s, the problem of artistic text literary-critical evaluation is examined in the article. The author of the article assumes that artistic text evaluation is directly related to ideology and to the main request of time in terms of which, the text receives this assessment. According to Georgiy Fridlender, one of the most important tasks that Russian public life of the second half of the 19th century set for literature was to create an image of a viable and still positive hero. Alexander Ostrovsky in his work was oriented to answers to the most pressing social requests. Nevertheless, his works often did not satisfy his contemporaries, and sometimes insulted their moral feelings. An attempt to trace how the negative moral and ethical assessment of the playwright's creative work was conditioned and the role that newspaper and magazine criticism played in shaping the literary process is undertaken in the article.

In the review, V. A. Kotelnikov’s new book “Alexei Konstantinovich Tolstoy in Life and Literature” is regarded as a scientific discovery. The author lists various aspects of the great work that became the discovery of the personality of Alexei Konstantinovich Tolstoy (the circumstances of his life, relations with contemporaries, opinions on pressing issues, philosophical reflections, etc.), the discovery of A. K. Tolstoy’s works, keeping many mysteries, the discovery of some of his remarkable contemporaries, the discovery of the time of the earthly existence of the writer and poet who lived and worked in a difficult transitional historical era. The review notes that the book by V. A. Kotelnikov is remarkable for the discovery of the historical and cultural era of the middle of the 19th century in her biggest achievements, characteristic tendencies. The author emphasizes the breadth and encyclopedic knowledge of the author of the new research, which is a necessary condition for creating a book about a personality of the scale of A. K. Tolstoy. The style of the new edition is assessed, the main substantive aspects considered by the author are given, the importance of labor in modern literary criticism is shown. The book by V. A. Kotelnikov through dialogue, analogies and comparisons with the creative personality of the writer of the golden age of the classics also becomes a discovery of himself for the modern reader.

Resumo: Este artigo discute os ensaios literários de Álvares de Azevedo à luz do periodismo cultural oitocentista. Num primeiro momento, pretende-se evidenciar o quanto esses textos são tributários do que se publicava na imprensa, que pode ter sugerido ao autor obras e temáticas a serem debatidas. Num segundo momento, investiga-se o diálogo teórico que o ensaísta travou com os estudos de literaturas estrangeiras, ancestrais da literatura comparada. Argumenta-se que o contato com esse saber pode ter corroborado ou impulsionado a visada cosmopolita defendida por Azevedo, fazendo com que ele se afastasse do veio central da crítica literária brasileira do período.Palavras-chave: romantismo brasileiro; crítica literária; literatura comparada.Abstract: This article discusses Álvares de Azevedo’s literary essays under the perspective of the 19th century cultural journalism. Firstly, it is aimed at evincing how much his essays are related to what was published in the press, which might have suggested to the author the works and themes to be debated. Secondly, it investigated the theoretical dialogue that the essayist had with the foreign literature studies, ancestral to comparative literature. It argues that the contact with that knowledge may have corroborated or prompted the cosmopolitan view defended by Azevedo, making him to step further from the central stream of the Brazilian literary criticism.Keywords: Brazilian romanticism; literary criticism; comparative literature.

Abstract Inspired by the spatial turn in literary criticism, this article seeks to combine a traditional biographical approach of the versatile oeuvre of the late 19th Century Danish poet, painter and bon vivant Holger Drachmann (1846–1908), with a space-oriented perspective. One of the key concepts of the Scandinavian literature of the latter half of the 19th Century, the era of the so-called Modern Breakthrough, was to promote a literature that dealt with contemporary social issues; at the same time, many of the artists who adhered to this program turned their backs on everyday routine, by frequently travelling and living abroad for long periods. Especially Southern Europe, and in particular Italy was a favorite destination. In Drachmann’s oeuvre too, the lure of the South is omnipresent, but his initial infatuation with Italy shifts radically between his first (1867) and second (1876) journey to the country, from an Orientalist notion of Italy as an eroticised Nirvana, to a horrendously degenerate country. This case study proposes a spatial reading of one of Drachmann’s still well-known poems, ”Sakuntala” (1879), where the lure of travel, exoticism and erotic enticement are brought together in a poem, in which travel is a mere metaphor for the state of mind in which exotic landscapes morph into erotic spaces, while eroticist desire remains forever unfulfilled.

This study was aimed to analyze the aspects of Romanticism manifested in the novel “The Revolt in Paradise” and behavior of character reflects Romanticism in “The Revolt in Paradise”. This study was based on the descriptive-qualitative research since the findings were going to be presented in a descriptive form. The data to be analyzed are gathered from two sources. The primary source is the novel itself; The Revolt in Paradise and the secondary sources includes many appropriate documents in the form of literary works, previous thesis, biography, theories and literary criticism, dictionaries and etc. Related to the instrument, the researcher employed herself as the human instrument. The data were analyzed through underlying and labeling. The result of the study found that there four aspects of Romanticism manifested in the novel; The Revolt in Paradise, they were: the love of nature, the memories of the past, the horror /gothic setting and the emotion; included; love, anger and hatred. This study also found that The Revolt in Paradise gave the vivid depiction of the Nationalism as the major behavior reflects Romanticism.
