Domestic violence is a normal activity in Indian society, where violence at home is considered part and parcel of life. Women have been imbibed in their minds from childhood not to discuss domestic violence in a public forum as it would bring shame to the family. Domestic violence is interpersonal violence that has shattered the lives of millions of Indian women despite their education and social status. School Teachers in rural India play a predominant role in building the nation by educating the life skills of the young generation. The study aims to find out the Awareness, Prevalence and coping of Domestic violence among the women School Teachers in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu and finds the association between domestic violence and selected socio-demographic variables. It is a descriptive study, and a Self- prepared questionnaire was administered to 80 women school teachers of Private schools. The results reveal that only 2.5 per cent of them have a high level of awareness about domestic violence and 68 per cent are not ready to share with anyone about the violence faced by them in house. It is the least focussed issue in Indian society. The study states that it is the need of the hour of the state and non Government organisations to address this problem as a public health issue to save the physical and mental health of women.

Background: Violence against women is an emerging problem in India. It has considerable adverse impact on the physical and mental health of women including suicidal tendencies. Violence against women and associated risk factors in many Indian communities remains unreported. This paper aimed to study the prevalence of physical, psychological, and sexual violence and risk factors of the women facing domestic violence.Methods: A community based cross sectional study was carried out in a rural area of Trivandrum district of Kerala state. Married women doing unskilled manual work were interviewed using a pretested validated questionnaire developed by Indu P V containing 20 items- 13 questions for assessing psychological violence, 5 for assessing physical violence and 2 for sexual violence.Results: The results showed that 26.76% of women experienced domestic violence. Poor educational qualification and having alcohol addiction in husbands were identified as important risk factors for experiencing domestic violence.Conclusions: Our data along with other sources show clearly that domestic violence is exacerbated by alcohol abuse and it may well be more prevalent in poor communities. Experience of domestic violence is more in women whose husbands are alcoholic. Multi sectorial response such as improving literacy, creating awareness regarding legal aid and screening the victims of violence at primary health centres, should be initiated to mitigate this public health issue.

Kualitas guru sangat mempengaruhi pendidikan pada setiap jenjangnya termasuk jenjang sekolah dasar. Profesi guru termasuk salah satu pekerjaan yang memiliki tingkat stres kerja yang tinggi. Salah satu penyebab stres adalah kurikulum pendidikan.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran tingkat stres kerja dan strategi koping guru sekolah dasar negeri dalam implementasi kurikulum 2013 di Kecamatan Bogor Tengah Kota Bogor. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif sederhana dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Penelitian ini melibatkan 222 guru di sekolah dasar negeri Kecamatan Bogor Tengah yang dipilih menggunakan purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menggambarkan bahwa sebesar (81,5%) guru mengalami stres sedang. Penjabaran dari dimensi stres kerja yaitu dimensi peran kerja individu (ORQ), dimensi beban kerja individu (PSQ), dan dimensi sumber daya yang dimiliki (PRQ) menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas guru mengalami stres sedang pada ketiga kategori tersebut. Adapun jenis strategi koping yang paling sering digunakan adalah problem focused coping (54,6%). Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan agar perawat dapat bekerja sama dengan pihak sekolah dasar negeri untuk memfasilitasi kegiatan yang dapat meminimalkan kejadian stres kerja dengan penggunaan strategi koping yang tepat.   Kata kunci: Guru sekolah dasar negeri, stres kerja, kurikulum 2013, strategi koping   THE LEVEL OF STRESS AND COPING STRATEGY OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS IN IMPLEMENTATION OF CURRICULUM 2013   ABSTRACT Teachers quality is greatly influence education at the whole level of education including elementary school level. Teachers are one of the jobs with high levels of work stress. One of the causes of work stress is  educational curriculum. This study aims to determine the level of stress and coping strategy of elementary school teachers in implementation of curriculum 2013 in Bogor Central District, Bogor. The design in this research used descriptive quantitative with cross sectional approach. This study involved 222 elementary schools teachers in Bogor Central District selected by purposive sampling. The results of this study illustrate the majority of elementary schools teachers in Bogor Central District (81,5%) experience moderate stress. Each dimension of work stress, occupational role (ORQ), personal strain (PSQ) and personal resources (PRQ) show that the majority of teachers experience moderate stress. The type of coping strategy that is most often used by elementary schools teachers in Bogor Central Districtis is problem focused coping (54,6%). The results of this study recommend nurses to be able for collaboration with school to facilitate activities that could reduce stress and use appropriate coping strategies.   Keywords: Elementary School Teacher, work stress, curriculum 2013, coping strategy

Abstract Background: There has been a reported increase in cases of domestic violence during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, however systematic research data is still unavailable. This study was conducted to find out domestic violence prevalence and coping strategies among married adults during lockdown due to COVID-19 in India. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted among married men and women in the month of April 2020. Data regarding socio-demographic profile, domestic violence and coping strategies employed during lockdown was collected thorough google forms. 97.9% forms were completely filled by the respondents. Descriptive analysis was done. Results: Out of 94 study participants, about 7.4% (n=7) had faced domestic violence during lockdown. Out of these 7 participants, about 85.7% (n=6) reported increased frequency of domestic violence during lockdown. About half of the victims chose to ignore it (57.1%, n=4) or used yoga/meditation (42.9%, n=3) to cope. Conclusion: With about 7.4% study participants facing domestic violence during lockdown, it is necessary to study its detailed epidemiology in pandemics so that interventions like helpline numbers, screening of patients during tele-consultation, etc. which can be delivered even during lockdown with the help of healthcare and frontline workers could be devised to address this problem.

Domestic violence is considered as a serious socio-psychological and public health issue that has imperative implications on fecundity of women. This paper put forward consolidate findings about the prevalence of domestic violence in rural localities of Southern Punjab, Pakistan. The contextual realities demonstrated that women are considered to be subordinated in front of their marital partners where gender oppression is considered to be a “normal life phenomenon.” The researchers used obtrusive observations along with in-depth interviewing techniques to explore the contextualized underlying dynamics of the study phenomenon. The findings of this study demonstrate that husband was considered to own the hegemonic masculine powers, while women were subordinated in front of their intimate partners. Moreover, mother-in-law was also considered to be the most provoking person for aggravating domestic violence in household context. These violent acts directly affected the reproductive health of these victimized married females. Henceforth, education prevalence, gender awareness and role of sociologists to address the structural problems are the major recommendations that can be adopted to resolve this issue.

<p><strong>INTRODUCTION:</strong> Domestic violence is a continual stressor that motivates its victim to react. The way a woman deals with her husband’s violence determine the consequence of the violent relationship. In the present study, a qualitative approach was employed to investigate women’s reactions to and ways of coping with domestic violence.</p><p><strong>METHOD:</strong> Semi-structured interviews were conducted in 2014 with 18 women who experienced domestic violence in an attempt to explain how women deal with domestic violence. After the interviews were transcribed word by word, they were explored in the form of meaningful units and encoded as subcategories and categories<strong> </strong>through inductive content analysis. The reliability and validity of the interviews were measured by an external supervisor.</p><p><strong>RESULTS: </strong>Two categories of reaction and coping were identified through content analysis: passive and non-normative measures and active measures. Passive and non-normative measures included the subcategories of harmful behaviors, retaliation, tolerance, and silence. Active measures included seeking help and advice, legal measures, leaving the spouse, positive and health promoting measures.</p><p><strong>CONCLUSION: </strong>In the present study, ways of coping with a husband’s violence among women experiencing domestic violence were divided into two categories: passive and non-normative measures and active measures. These categories confirmed the models of coping with stress in previous studies. Adopting an appropriate approach to dealing with domestic violence is affected by a woman’s capacity and beliefs, the dominant culture, intensity of the violence, available social and legal supports, and effectiveness of evaluation measures. To generalize service provision to victimized women, the type of coping and the reason for adopting the chosen approach need to be taken into account.</p>

Background: HIV continues to be a major global public health issue, having claimed 36.3 million lives so far.  India has the third largest HIV epidemic in the world, with 2.1 million people living with HIV. Epidemiological data on AIDS suggests that in many cases, HIV infection was acquired during adolescence and lack of knowledge is one of the most important reasons.  Hence, an ardent need was felt to assess the knowledge and beliefs of adolescents regarding AIDS. The main objective of this study was to assess the knowledge and beliefs regarding AIDS among higher secondary students of rural schools in South Kerala and in South Tamil Nadu.   Methods: After getting ethical committee clearance, the study was conducted among higher secondary students of twelfth standard using a predesigned and validated self-administered questionnaire. An educational intervention regarding AIDS lasting for 30 min was given after the test. Data analysis was done using appropriate software.Results: The mean knowledge scores of students from Kerala (11.57) and Tamil Nadu (11.51) were almost same. Television, newspaper and teachers were the main source of information about AIDS. Beliefs like Whiteman’s disease can spread through mosquito bite, sharing vessels and giving shake hands/touching were highly prevalent in the study subjects.Conclusions: Proper emphasis should be given to teachers on mentoring adolescents and imparting them with the needed knowledge on HIV/AIDS to enable them to overcome this period of stress and storm.

Objectives: Teenage pregnancy is a world-wide phenomenon and a public health issue so our aim was to identify the contributing factors, and to study perception, complications, effects, challenges and coping mechanisms. Method: An explorative qualitative research design, snowball sampling, was used. Ten respondents were interviewed using an interview guide in Khaddamari Ward, Jere L.G.A. of Borno State. Results: The major contributing factor to teenage pregnancy is ignorance and lack of proper sex education both at home and school. Few responses listed traditional roles, cultural expectations, using drugs and alcohol, age discrepancy in relationships, socio-economic factors, sexual coercion and abuse. Most of them perceived fear, guilt and stigmatization and only a few of them said they were excited, proud and accepted. Anemia, preterm labour, cephalo-pelvic disproportion, obstructed labour and vesico-vaginal fistula were common complications. Almost all of them dropped out of school. Conclusion: Based on these findings of the study, a collaborative effort by all stakeholders involved should be employed in combating the complications of teenage pregnancy.

Domestic violence against children and adolescents is a public health issue, as it jeopardizes development. The purpose of this study was to identify parents 'or guardians' understanding of domestic violence. Descriptive method that sought evidence through the application of a questionnaire used by Biscegli et al. (2008). The results were analyzed by Chi-square and Fisher's exact tests, in which the parents or guardians would never agree to any punishment by the employees, 46.9% agree that the best way would be conversation and 85% that the spanking impairs the relationship. Of the respondents with more than two children, 88.2% believe that cursing the child causes harm, but for those with two or less, this rate drops to 50%. We conclude that the guardians of the children demonstrated a satisfactory level of knowledge about child violence but did not discard the cultural influence and the possibility of practicing certain types of violence.
