Several studies of children's thinking in and out of the classroom have demonstrated that (1) learning can be interesting and fun for children, and (2) thinking is more closely related to the process than to the content of subject matter. Important intellectual skills depend far more on the experiences a child has had than they do on the child's age or grade in school. One of the sets of activities developed by the Elementary Science Study consists of attribute games and problems. These activities, like other games, provide an opportunity for the child to learn problem-solving strategies.

The purpose of writing is to bring up creative librarian ideas and provide problem-solving strategies related to the circulation of hoax in the infodemic era. The discussion uses the literature review method related to infodemics, information literacy competencies, and librarian strategies in the social media era. High rapid social media and internet access users are not accompanied by literacy competencies. One of the efforts to build a knowledge ecosystem is through increasing information literacy competencies. In the context of libraries, social media influences the relationships and social interactions carried out by librarians. The wave of information that is not necessarily accurate is increasingly being spread through social media. Library information sources can be disseminated through social media applications with various platforms. His practice in the library is building scientific communication, knowledge management, promotion, marketing, and publication. Due to the rapid dissemination of information, librarians are expected to have the sensitivity and expertise in packaging information, disseminating it through social media, cleverly sorting and choosing, and wisely using it. My experience has been that teachers will not become teachers of problem solving until they first become problem solvers themselves. From that perspective, those of us who are responsible for the preparation of teachers need to ensure they get appropriate problem-solving experiences. Like many other colleges and universities across the country, Austin Peay State University has a one-year mathematics requirement for prospective elementary school teachers. Problem solving is emphasized in the three required courses. The initial course begins with a unit on the problem-solving process. Various problem-solving strategies—such as look for a pattern, build a table, draw a picture, use trial and error, write an equation, work backward, and solve a simpler problem—are introduced and illustrated. Throughout the year, problem-solving situations are presented within the framework of the specific mathematics topic being studied. Students are encouraged to employ the strategies that were learned in the first unit.

A content analysis of over 28,000 pages from 141 elementary school mathematics textbooks published between 1900 and 2000 shows that widely used mathematics textbooks have changed substantially. Textbooks from the early part of the century were typically narrow in content but presented substantial amounts of advanced arithmetic and also asked students simultaneously to engage with material in effortful and conceptual ways. A period of change marked the middle of the century, when less advanced topics were presented and problem-solving tasks were simplified. From the mid-1960s onward, however, the trend reversed, and 3 major changes occurred in primary school mathematics curricula over the next 4 decades: (a) expansion of topics and the number of pages devoted to each topic; (b) a shift of traditionally more advanced topics from higher to lower grades; and, (c) within arithmetic, an increase in the number, abstraction, and cognitive demand of problem-solving strategies. Implications of these findings are discussed in terms of the historical study of mathematics and curriculum in U.S. schools.
