Introduction: The processes of first-graders’ adaptation to modern schooling using a diverse set of information and communication tools are determined by the level of cognitive performance, the functional state of the central nervous system (CNS), and work/rest patterns, thus indicating the importance of their studies. Materials and methods: We assessed the CNS functional state of 124 first year primary schoolchildren (7–8 years of age) according to the method developed by M.P. Moroz, their cognitive performance using the E. Landolt test, and the intensity of the educational process using the method developed by V.R. Kuchma and coauthors. We also conducted a survey of their using electronic devices in extracurricular time. Results: We found that up to 69% of the first graders had a lower level of working capacity due to a 2.5-fold decrease in the functional level of the nervous system, a 3.2-fold decrease in stability of the nervous reaction, and a 2.6-fold decrease in the level of CNS functional ability to develop the adaptation system with respect to the physiological norm. This fact was the basis of a 1.5 to 2.1-fold decrease in such cognitive indicators as the information processing speed, mental productivity, and mental accuracy factors, which even in conditions of the permissible tension of the educational process and the established irrational usage of electronic devices after school hours in 44.4–36.1% of the first graders could be the reason for the increased “physiological cost” of education and the risk of poor recovery of their adaptation potential. Conclusions: The established decreased indices of the functional and cognitive performance of the first graders in the context of their irrational use of electronic devices in extracurricular time create an additional risk of reducing the adaptation potential of pupils and require specific preventive measures aimed at optimizing rest after school hours in order to increase vital capacities in first graders.

The article presents the results of the study of the dynamics of change of the functional state of the central nervous system of university students during of the educational day and the academic year using of different methods of express diagnostic. As the main method of express diagnostics of the functional state of the central nervous system was used the method of «Complicated visual-motor reaction» and an additional method was the test of differential self-estimation of the functional condition «The state of health. Activity. Mood». The results of the study indicate that the functional state of the central nervous system provides a systemic (from psychophysiological to personal-psychological point of view) response of the subject to changing environmental conditions, including the success of overcoming, as in our case, educational stress and the effectiveness of the educational process; students with relatively low indicators of the functional state of the central nervous system under the influence of stresses tend to develop maladaptation and constitute a “risk group”.

Introduction. Modern medical support for students does not always include all the necessary components providing high-quality monitoring of the health of students and, above all, the functional systems of the body involved in the educational process. The aim of the study was to determine the functional state of the main body systems of students involved in the educational process in the conditions of modern medical care.Material and methods. Among 300 students of the Orenburg secondary school, the functional state of the vegetative nervous system was studied with variation pulsometry method on the ORTO-expert hardware-software complex; central nervous system - with the variation chronoreflexometry method; respiratory system using spirography.Results. The imbalance in the intrasystemic interactions of the autonomic nervous system was shown to increase by 2.5 times from the initial to the senior level, and the number of students with a satisfactory level of biological adaptation decreased by 2 times. Against the background of an increase in students from primary to senior level by up to 1.4 times the functional indices of the central nervous system, a decrease by to 6 times of indices reflecting the functional state of the respiratory system is determined, which is caused, including, probably, by vegetative disturbances in its regulation.Conclusion. The obtained results need including in the screening research a modern model of medical support for methods for assessing the vegetative status, functional state of the respiratory, and central nervous systems to develop and implement the effective personalized preventive measures in medical institutions.

We conducted a study on the intensity of educational activities and determined the typology of the physiological reactions of the body of each of students with different levels of efficiency. The intensity of the educational process of students is given by the method of V.R. Kuchma, E.A. Tkachuk, N.V. Efimova, I.V. Mylnikova (2015) with a scoring of intellectual, sensory, emotional loads, mode and monotony of educational work. A survey of 295 students divided into three groups of 60 people was conducted at a time. There were students with a normal level of efficiency, with reduced efficiency and with significantly reduced efficiency. The functional state of the central nervous system, the autonomic nervous system was determined on the hardware-software complexes based on the methods of, respectively, variational chronoreflexometry and pulsometry. The leading factors of students’ educational activities were high intellectual, visual loads and irregular schedule of academic work, which were assigned to class 3 of 2nd degree on unsocial conditions. In conditions of intense learning activities, only every third student had a normal level of efficiency. We have established the fact of a decrease in the functional state of the central nervous system, stability of the nervous response, adaptive capacity due to the intra-system mismatch of the autonomic nervous system departments and its regulation levels in students with reduced and significantly reduced efficiency as compared with students with normal efficiency. Those can become a scientific basis for the formation of targeted preventive measures to improve the level of efficiency through the normalization of these physiological processes.

The features of production factors established at the main workplaces of shoe production are considered. The materials on the results of the study of the functional state of the central nervous system of women workers of shoe production in the dynamics of the working day are presented. The level of functional state of the central nervous system was determined by the speed of visual and auditory-motor reactions, installed using the universal device chronoreflexometer. It was revealed that in the body of workers of shoe production there is an early development of inhibitory processes in the central nervous system, which is expressed in an increase in the number of errors when performing tasks on proofreading tables. It was found that the most pronounced shift s in auditory-motor responses were observed in professional groups, where higher levels of noise were registered in the workplace. The correlation analysis showed a close direct relationship between the growth of mistakes made in the market and the decrease in production. An increase in the time spent on the task indicates the occurrence and growth of production fatigue.Funding. The study had no funding.Conflict of interests. The relevance of the article is determined by the existence of contradictions between the need to introduce innovative technologies into the educational process at school, as an integral attribute of modern education, and the negative influence of factors on the physical and psycho-emotional state of health of students related to the use of information and communication tools (computers, phones, headphones). The goal of the study was to assess the relationship between the timing of the use of information and communication tools and the frequency of functional and psycho-emotional complaints in groups of middle and high school schoolchildren. 400 schoolchildren of the Saratov Region, the Moscow Region, Leningrad Region and the Republic of Dagestan were surveyed, who made up two groups of research: middle-school schoolchildren (grades 5–6) and high-school schoolchildren (grades 10–11 The survey was carried out by means of the standardized formalized cards which included the questions considering usage time of computers and mobile phones, complaints to a headache, hands pain, other pain and/or feeling of discomfort from visual organ and the organs of hearing, as well as a psycho-emotional state. Statistical analysis of the data was performed using the STATISTICA application software program by StatSoft Inc (USA). To compare the frequencies of a binary feature, a fourfold table of absolute frequencies was constructed and the level of statistical significance for the exact Fisher’s two-tailed test criterion was determined. The study was conducted according to the requirements of bioethics, after signing informed consent statement by teenagers and their parents. The study examined the relationship between the timing of the use of information and communication tools and the frequency of complaints in groups of schoolchildren. The results of the study should be taken into account when developing and implementing preventive measures to prevent negative effects of computers and mobile devices on the body of students.

Toxicity and hazard assessment of dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP) was performed in acute, subacute, and chronic experiments, and its principal toxicometry parameters were determined. It was found that on single exposure DOTP exhibits low toxicity and hazard. No resorptive and irritant effects on skin and mucous membrane of eyes were detected in animal experiments. The single inhalation exposure threshold limit value was set at 300 mg/m3, based on the results of monitoring of the functional state of the central nervous system and myocardium and hematological parameters.Thirty-day subacute experiments (oral administration, inhalation exposure, and skin applications) revealed no accumulation of the compound.Four-month chronic exposure to DOTP aerosols (concentration 96,8 mg/m3) caused disorder of the functional state of the central nervous system and myocardium, changes in the hematological and biochemical parameters, gas and acid-base status of the blood, and morphological changes in the lungs and heart. Embryotoxic, genotoxic and gonadotoxic effects were not detected. The chronic inhalation exposure threshold limit value for DOTP (Limch) was set at 18,6 mg/m3, and the concentration of 3,4 mg/m3 was found to be ineffective. The maximum allowable concentration of DOTP in the air of the working area was set at 3,0 mg/m3, hazard class 3.
