The relationship between the live weight of black-and-white and Ayrshire heifers in different periods of rearing and their productive longevity were studied. This issue had not been considered by scientists in a broad aspect. In this connection, its study is relevant. The aim of the study was to study the influence of the young cattle’s live weight in different periods of their rearing, in the process of development, and in dynamics, on the subsequent longevity of the dairy cows; this will increase the productive longevity of the main highly productive cow breeds in the Vologda region. To reach this goal, the following tasks were solved. Information on the retired broodstock of animals was collected. Samples by age categories of replacement young stock were made. The grouping of animals by live weight depending on their age was carried out. The information received was processed using economic and mathematical methods. Conclusions have been made. The role of replacement young cattle live weight on their subsequent productive longevity was studied at birth, at 10, 12 and 18 months. We have not identified the optimal live weight of calves at birth in the context of the studied breeds for their subsequent longevity. In animals in other analyzed age periods, groups of replacement young animals with optimal live weight were noted and identified. Moreover, these groups varied depending on the breed of animals. As a result of the research carried out, it is possible to recommend zootechnicians-practitioners certain conditions of feeding and keeping calves at different age periods to increase the productive longevity of the broodstock.

Abstract. The purpose of the research is to study the age of retirement of cows from the herd, depending on various genetic and paratypical factors. Methods. The research was carried out according to the data of a black-and-white breed dairy herd of the Chelyabinsk region. The studied animals of different ages were divided into groups relative to the live weight at the first fruitful insemination, the age of retirement of mothers and bulls-producers of Holstein lines. The paper analyzes data for the period from 2003 to 2019 on 9247 heads of cows. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the analysis of genetic and paratypical factors affecting the increase in the age of retirement of dairy cows from the herd. As a result, it was found that the age of retirement of animals from the herd of the studied cows was 3.4 lactation. But only 29.0 % of cows were eliminated from the herd at the age of 5 lactations and older. At the early stages of economic use (before the 2nd lactation), animals were rejected due to diseases of the genital organs (1.5 lactation), respiratory organs (1.0–1.25 lactation), surgical diseases (1.5–1.8 lactation) and limb injuries (1.8 lactation). The shortest period of economic use, equal to 3.5 lactation, was observed in animals that were first fruitfully inseminated at the age of 18 months and older with a live weight of more than 400 kg. Long-lived mothers (older than 7 lactations) weakly transmitted their signs of productive longevity to their daughters, whose retirement age was 3.57–3.75 lactation. The daughters of the bulls-producers of the line Reflection Sovering 198998 had a longer period of use – an average of 5.1 lactations. Genetic and paratypical factors affect the age of retirement of cows. The study of this issue, as well as the competent application of the results obtained, make it possible to increase the period of production use of the dairy herd to 5 lactations or more.

Annotation Purpose. Development of a program and methods for conducting experimental studies of the extrusion process with the definition of parameters and modes of operation of the extruder to improve its energy performance. Methods. Methods of mathematical statistics, synthesis, analysis, description and modeling were used. Results. The application of mathematical methods, in particular mathematical planning, reduces the number of experiments several times, and allows to evaluate the role of influencing factors, obtain a mathematical model of the process and determine the optimal conditions for its parameters and modes, etc. Conclusions. The methodology for experimental studies of a screw extruder is presented with the necessary equipment and methodology for processing the obtained experimental data. A mathematical method of planning, which reduces the number of experiments several times, allows us to evaluate the role of factors affecting productivity and energy intensity is presented. Numerous studies have been conducted to explore the individual effects of organizational culture (OC) and supply chain management (SCM) practices on organizational performance (OP) in different settings. The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of OC and SCM on OP. The sample of the study consisted of 93 manufacturing firms in Jordan. Data were collected from employees and managers from different divisions using a reliable and valid measurement instrument. The findings confirm that both OC and SCM practices significantly predict OP. The current study is significant in reliably testing the relationship between SCM practices and OP; however, it is necessary to consider cultural assumptions, values and beliefs as the impact of OC on OP is greater than the impact of SCM practices. Based on the results, future studies should consider the moderating and mediating role of OC on the relationship between SCM practices and OP.

There is great interest in the role of management control on theoretical and practical developments within the field of Inter-organizational Relations. This research aims to contribute at verifying how relationships between firms affect the management control tools used, as illustrated in a specific case: the relationship between the franchisor and its franchisees, which has not received much attention to date. As indicated by previous research, case studies can be helpful to determine the factors affecting the type of management control tools that should be established to manage inter-firm relationships.Results have found that the franchisor uses quantitative control mechanisms in order to avoid common types of opportunistic franchise behavior related to royalty payments and other financial requirements, as well as qualitative tools to assure the fulfilment of agreement-related conditions regarding knowhow, to resolve unexpected non-economic problems and to encourage personal relationship and trust. This study also provides an outline on franchisor-franchisee relationships in the model proposed by Van der Meer-Kooistra and Vosselman (2000). To test this model, the franchisor's perspective (outsourcer) has been taken into account as performed when building the model. Findings indicate that this relationship shows many similarities to the pattern based on bureaucracy and a few similarities to patterns based on trust.

The antioxidant drug "E-selenium" was used to reduce the processes of LPO in the body of fresh cows. Two groups were formed from the analogous cows of the black-and-white breed: The Control was intact, Experienced received the antioxidant drug injection at a dose of 10 ml at the rate of 1 ml per 50 kg of live weight per head for 4 months of lactation from the second. The diets of animals of all groups were the same, balanced in nutrients and met the standards of the RAAS. The duration of the experiment was 150 days. During the period from the 3rd to the 5th month of lactation, there was a positive dynamic in increasing the number of fat globules in the milk of cows of the Experimental group. By the end of the 4th month, it was higher than the Control by 8.9 %. This confirms the active effect of the drug "E-selenium", which contributes to a positive dynamic in increasing the size of fat globules. Non-enzymatic antioxidant tocopherol is an active element of the anti-oxidative system. Selenium stimu-lates the body's own antioxidant system. In both experimental groups, the relationship between the concentration of peroxidation products and the quantitative composition of fat globules and their size was established. In the milk of cows of the Experimental group, the oxidation processes were inhibited by neutralizing the products (POL), increasing the number of large fat globules and the total fat content in the milk.

ООО «PskovAgroInvest» pays great attention to the rearing of replacement young animals. The rate of increase in the intensity of raising heifers on the farm meets the standards and requirements of pedigree dairy cattle breeding. The farm uses stage-bystage rearing of replacement young stock, taking into account its age. A group approach to rearing young animals. Replacement heifers use natural and cultivated pastures in the summer. In recent years, the age of replacement heifers at the first insemination has noticeably decreased and approached the norm. At the same time, the live weight of animals at the first insemination increased, which in 2020 amounted to 460 kg, which opens up prospects for a further decrease in the age of the first insemination. This became possible due to an increase in the average daily growth in cultivation, which regularly increases every year and amounts to 756 g in 2020, which is 98 g, or 14.9%, more than in 2016. From table 2 it follows that in recent years, at all age periods, replacement heifers had a live weight exceeding the breed standard, which is 250 kg at 10-month-old, 290 kg at 12-month-old and 390 kg at 18-month-old age. At the same time, an increase in the average live weight of the replacement livestock is observed every year. So, in 2020, the value of the indicator was 278 kg at the age of 10 months, 331 kg at the age of 12 months, 463 kg at the age of 18 months, which is 16 kg, 54 kg and 75 kg, or 6.1%, 19, 5% and 19.3%, more than in 2016, respectively. Thus, the analyzed period allows us to conclude about the effectiveness of zootechnical work to improve the rearing of replacement heifers on the farm, but it must be continued in order to reduce the age of first insemination to 15–17 months with the optimal live weight of the livestock.

Accessing financial services is considered one of the main challenges facing communities during crises. This research studies the role of using FinTech applications to build resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research empirically examines the factors affecting Jordanian citizens’ intention to use FinTech applications. The sample of the research comprised 500 potential FinTech service users in Jordan. Based on the research conceptual model, five hypotheses were developed and tested using structural equation modeling techniques (SEM-PLS). The research results indicate that perceived benefits and social norms significantly affect the intention to use FinTech applications. However, it has been found that perceived technology risks do not significantly affect the intention to use FinTech applications. Moreover, the results also indicate that customer trust is significantly mediating the relationship between perceived risks and intention to use FinTech applications. FinTech service providers should insure that their products are easy to use, fulfill needs and protect consumers’ data in order to ensure trust, hence positively influencing consumer adoption.

AbstractA study was carried out to examine the relationship between silage intake and rumen degradability characteristics of silage. The dry matter (DM), neutral-detergent fibre (NDF), acid-detergent fibre (ADF), hemicellulose and nitrogen (N) degradability characteristics of 136 silages were determined using polyester bags in three rumen fistulated beef cross steers. The bags were incubated for 0, 6, 12, 24, 48 and 72 h. Intakes of these silages, by steers, were reported by Steen et al., 1998. The relationships between silage DM intake (g/kg metabolic live weight) and DM, fibre and N degradability characteristics of the silages were poor (R2 < 0·32). Degradability characteristics of the silages were highly negatively correlated with fibre concentration of the silages (R < –0·82) and highly positively correlated with the soluble N minus ammonia concentration (R < 0·77). Some of the degradability characteristics were highly correlated with organic matter digestibility, particularly the proportion of DM, fibre and N degraded after 72 h (R = 0·75 to 0·85). In view of the poor relationship between silage intake and degradability, the results of this study question the rôle of degradation characteristics of DM, fibre and N in the rumen on silage intake.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to reframe human resources' (HR) systems and practices as HR signals drawing from conceptualizations of signals. The construct of the strength of signal is developed to quantify the attributional ability of HR signals. To examine the role of HR signals in influencing employee behaviours and firm performance, human resource management (HRM)-firm performance relationship is considered as a framework to develop a firm-level conceptual model which integrates factors affecting HR signals and its consequences.Design/methodology/approachThe paper examines the existing literature on the relationship between HRM and firm performance. In the process, the paper considers the concept of HR signal and makes a case for the strength of HR signal. Finally, the paper offers a conceptual model in order to link the antecedents and consequents of HR signals.FindingsThe paper offers a conceptual model to address the gaps in the relationship between HRM and firm performance. It also brings into focus an understanding of HRM as signals and its importance in understanding firm performance.Originality/valueThe paper enriches the existing literature by examining HRM as HR signals. It adds to the literature by considering the attributional ability of HR, through the construct of the strength of HR signals.

Consumer environmental responsibility has been commonly considered as an antecedent to green consumption intention and eco-design purchases. However, little research has investigated how environmental concern affects the relationship between design attributes and purchasing intention, especially in the furniture setting, where companies are often involved in design-intensive processes and environmental problems. This study investigates (i) how consumers perceive the different dimensions of design and which attributes most affect their purchasing intention of furniture items; and (ii) the role of consumers’ environmental responsibility on the relationship between design attributes and purchasing intention. An online questionnaire survey was employed to collect data from 350 Italian consumers. The findings reveal that design can be intended as a three-dimensional construct, based on functional, aesthetic, and symbolic attributes. While functional and aesthetic features can be considered as relevant factors affecting the consumers’ perception of design, the purchasing intention is mainly influenced by the symbolic dimension of design. Moreover, environmental concern moderates the relationship between the symbolic dimension of design and purchasing intention, that is, when consumers are highly concerned about environmental issues, they tend to be more influenced by the symbolic dimension of design. Several theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
